Thought I'd start a new one as the old one is full!

I'm 37w exactly and definitely starting to feel more Braxton Hicks (they woke me up last night) but they don't seem to be getting more intense/frequent. Also a bit of lower back ache and general bump tenderness, plus I think I've lost a small bit of my mucus plug. Think this is probably normal at this stage and just my body gearing up for labour but am quite nervous as have a c section at 38+3 and hoping to last till then! Second pregnancy but last baby arrived at 36w so feels like uncharted territory!

How is everyone else feeling?

@rllrsk8 hi! Re nipple shields - my son is 11 weeks now and we use these for all feeds.

Breast feeding was so painful for me and my nipples just became open wounds! Using the shields has transformed feeding for us and plan to just continue using them!

Hlc86 · 25/08/2023 19:48

Totally jealous of everyone partners helping with night feeds etc, my partner is dead to the world and will not wake up, luckily matilda has turned a corner with sleep as at night time she falls asleep about 8.30-9 then will wake up at 5 for a feed then goes back off till 7-8 so can't really complain. I am getting worried tho as she used to love her food and just recently she doesn't seem as intrested? She's still on the 2nd percentile but she did climb to the 10th but it's gone down to 2nd, she 10lb 4 at 11 weeks does that sound to small? I'm probably just worrying but can't help it atm.

Gorgeous photos they are all growing so quickly 😍

Can't help with the weight as Freddie hasn't been weighed since the first health visitor check.

BUT night feeds... I feel you! No help here either. Mostly because he can't because I'm EBF... but Lordy isn't it tiring!

I do love him though 💕

Hi ladies hope ure all doing well. Is anyone still struggling with nighttime's? I feel like my baby Is just not getting the hang of sleeping at night no matter what I do! She's waking every 2 hours and is so unsettled, the longest she has ever done is 4 hours and that was just randomly. She naps perfectly during the day- maybe a bit too perfectly. Iv tried to give her a bedtime around 10pm but she treats it as a cap nap and actually officially sleeps at midnight!
She's EBF and my supply is absolutely fine and she takes enough but it makes me think is my breast milk not calorific enough or something, to keep her full

BobbySD345 · 27/08/2023 12:29

@tigerlily0 sorry to hear you're struggling with night time ! It is very hit and miss here but we are getting there. We had real problems with our 1st and in the end we gave him a bottle of formula at around 10pm before bed and he slept longer. Think it sits heavier than breast milk. It's not right for everyone but its an option?

Hoppyhops · 27/08/2023 19:54

@tigerlily0 Have you tried keeping curtains open, lights on, noises etc. in the day and keeping the room very dark with very little stimulation at night? We’ve found it has really helped DS to understand the difference between night and day so that he’ll stay down at night, wake for a feed,
then go straight back down (daytime is a different story- he will only nap in my arms so I can’t get anything done😅😅😅). White noise and his love to dream swaddle bag has helped us too.

tigerlily0 · 27/08/2023 20:21

Hi ladies ,thanks. Iv tried pretty much everything. I think it doesn't help that wer so off routine esp with my other 2 kids. She loves her daytime naps, I don't let them go over 2 hours. But when evening hits I'm just like ok when does she want actual bedtime. But she seems to be on this 2 hour loop thru 24hrs.

Wer going to try a bottle of formula again at the 10pm feed, just been so busy as we went away and also hubby has been dealing with work things so haven't had a chance. Really hoping it works, as I don't nap in the day so I'm a bit of a zombie atm

Hoppyhops · 27/08/2023 20:45

@tigerlily0 Hopefully the formula works to give you a couple of extra hours as it’s bloody exhausting. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

toomanysausages · 27/08/2023 20:54

Lovely baby photos! This just now of DD before she smiled at her butterfly toy. She chats to him too! ❤️

@tigerlily0 DD is almost EBF but does have formula feed every few days. I have noticed that she sleeps for longer after she has FF but I do boobs as my breasts get sore w/o feeding. Good luck!

Thanks guys, we were giving mam bottles but she wasn't 100% with them, looked uncomfortable. So I'm going to try Dr brown bottle tonight, and yes its currently 11pm and she's sat on my lap cooing and laughing and trying to talk to me, it's so cute. But I wish she would just sleep after this, for longer than 2 hours

Mistymeow · 28/08/2023 08:56

@tigerlily0 how many daytime naps is she getting overall? She might be sleeping too much during the day. You could try limiting the naps to 3 hours overall (but if she’s really tired of course just let her sleep, you know her best!). I found this helped my little one sleep during the night for longer. I would also make sure she doesn’t sleep later than 430pm. You could also do the dream feed at 10/10:30 as a formula feed but I would also express at the same time so you don’t get engorged or affect your supply. Hope this helps, it’s so hard when you can’t nap during the day, I have an active 3 year old so it’s a challenge!

tigerlily0 · 28/08/2023 12:13

@Mistymeow she has around 3 naps which probably overall to 4/5 hours. Some days less. She has a nap around 4pm which she is so sleepy for! Then she gets sleepy around 8pm again so iv tried to make that her bedtime but when she wakes from that she's wide awake, so then iv tried to make 10pm her bedtime and again she wakes from that wide awake. I don't mind her having a late bedtime as we sleep late but she doesn't stay asleep.

She didn't take to the Dr Brown bottle last night, so tried mam again. And as she was taking it she just fell aslp, as to say- stop trying to give me a bottle lol

Mistymeow · 28/08/2023 12:40

@tigerlily0 oh they are such tinkers! My baby is 12 weeks now and we don’t have an official bedtime yet. I did with my first who was formula fed but because he’s breast fed I feed on demand and he often cluster feeds in the evening. It’s just hard to have any routine at this age when you are responsive feeding. It sounds like you’re doing a great job though but I really hope you manage to get more sleep. I get my husband to give him a dream feed of expressed milk at ten so I can get more rest. I hope she takes to the Mam bottle, that’s what we use and he will take it if he’s hungry enough but will often just fall asleep.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 28/08/2023 21:25

Dd2 is now 22 weeks this week. The other night she slept for 9 hours! However she’s barely sleeping through the day and only sleeps if I’m holding her. Wakes up as soon as I try transfer her to cot. She slept on me 2 hours this afternoon, my arm went dead in the end. She’s now started putting her little fist to her mouth and sucking it, so cute! I gave her a little comforter and she sucks on that too.

@tigerlily0 We had dr browns with dd1 and they were great for us.

@hanc66 whats the miracle nappy cream please?!

@hanc66 whats the miracle nappy cream please?!

Orabase (typically used for mouth ulcers and stoma care), however sadly it's been discontinued and I can't find it anywhere and we are nearly out :(

I reintroduced dairy into my diet 5 days ago and the rash has flared up again so looking like it may be a CMPA after all!x

BobbySD345 · 29/08/2023 04:05

@AngelBlue12 Metanium is amazing. Just don't get it on clothing as it can stain x

AngelBlue12 · 29/08/2023 08:43

@hanc66 thats so annoying 😭 we are battling eczema 😬

@BobbySD345 unfortunately metanuim doesn’t touch it. My normal favourite is Child’s Farm but atm we are using hydrocortisone to try and get it under control.

I know, it's so good and is recommended on a lot of NHS nappy guidelines as well! It's crazy it's been discontinued.

I did wonder if this was eczema....does your LO have any rashes anywhere else? What does the nappy rash look like?

AngelBlue12 · 30/08/2023 01:54

She has spots up her tummy and back and then redder patches behind her knees and in her underarms and neck creases. Apparently coconut oil is supposed to be good for eczema so I’m going to try that too. She also has the worst cradle cap that any of the children have has so I wonder if that’s related. Heir is a link between early use of antibiotics and eczema (she was given them in scbu as a precaution) so I’ve also ordered some baby probiotic drops as that came up as a possible help as well. Thanks

How is everyone getting on with daytime naps? Yesterday we had one 20 minute nap and 4 30 minute naps and he is so cranky before bedtime every night. I’ve tried to get him to sleep longer but feel this is something I need to ride out until he can settle himself to sleep longer.

@Ally1992 Ours depend on if my little boy is also here. If it's just me like on mon-weds and we are at home she can go hours. When DS is home she barely sleeps as he is SO loud. I've lost count if the amount of times I've shhhd him each day. Is night time OK and it's just bedtime that's cranky? If so the number and length of naps might be OK but the bedtime is a tad too late maybe?

Ally1992 · 06/09/2023 08:21

@BobbySD345 night time is great, he wakes up once in the night and back to sleep straight after a bottle. He usually decides bedtime is 9pm but we managed to get him down an hour earlier last night after 30 minutes of rocking him which is not easy in this heat 🥵
