Thought I'd start a new one as the old one is full!

I'm 37w exactly and definitely starting to feel more Braxton Hicks (they woke me up last night) but they don't seem to be getting more intense/frequent. Also a bit of lower back ache and general bump tenderness, plus I think I've lost a small bit of my mucus plug. Think this is probably normal at this stage and just my body gearing up for labour but am quite nervous as have a c section at 38+3 and hoping to last till then! Second pregnancy but last baby arrived at 36w so feels like uncharted territory!

How is everyone else feeling?

What a beautiful baby @AngelBlue12 and so many lovely babies have arrived already. @justbelieve I know how you feel, I’m dreading my sweep and induction, I don’t want either, just wish baby would come soon, I’m already 5 days overdue.

Fredthespider · 14/06/2023 19:34

I had two sweeps with my last baby, I personally didn’t find either painful. I had the first on the Wed, second on Fri and he was born on Saturday. Preferred that option to being induced tbh

justbelieve · 14/06/2023 20:10

@dresslol I hope I’m one of the lucky one and it doesn’t actually hurt. I don’t find smear tests painful or uncomfortable, so I’m hoping this is the same.

I just hope the sweep gets things going naturally before induction on Sunday

dresslol · 14/06/2023 20:24

@justbelieve I have a sweep on Friday and an induction booked for Sunday too.

Can I refuse it on the day? I wasn’t expecting the obstetrician to just say I had to do it.

PurBal · 14/06/2023 21:06

@justbelieve I have a sweep booked tomorrow, apparently it’s no worse than a smear test (so I’m told)

Zaalfruit · 14/06/2023 23:40

wow so many babies ! Congratulations to everyone . I can’t believe my baby will be three weeks old on Friday and more babies to come.

How is everyone coping with the heat?

Zaalfruit · 14/06/2023 23:43

@Whentwobecomesthree We have a tongue tie assessment on Monday , thank you so much x

BobbySD345 · 15/06/2023 00:20

Good luck to everyone having sweeps and inductions this week ! ❤️
I'm currently on the high dependency unit with my DD who is 3 days old due to jaundice. We were monitoring it after being discharged home Monday but she really went downhill today. I feel I have no tears left after baby blues have kicked in and they've said DH has to go home overnight. I have not stopped crying since we got here at 4 via Ambulance. Hoping to move to the main ward soon and be home tomorrow. Seeing her in an incubator all tubed up really distressed is just absolutely heartbreaking.
These babies give us trouble inside and outside the tummy !!!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 15/06/2023 02:40

@BobbySD345 thinking of you. All that on top of baby blues sucks.

toomanysausages · 15/06/2023 06:20

Thanks @firsttimelondonmummy - it was the perfect birth (for me).

I had my elective c section (but was pushed forwards due to continued reduced movements yesterday- baby really, really slowed down for the last couple of days)! I suffer from tokophobia and being able to choose a c section is probably the main reason that I decided to stop birth control and try for a baby at 30, I was too frightened before but I honestly feel that this gave me the option to start a family. The section was such a relaxed and positive experience (even though it was a little earlier than we anticipated). All staff were lovely and it was a really calm (albeit still medical with machines etc) atmosphere. I was just listening to the whatever music was on and having chats with the anesthetist and watched some of the students (who were at the end as it's also a teaching hospital). Was in overnight for monitoring and DD was born yesterday at 3:51pm weighing 5 lbs 15oz. It's been so hot, so she's just been wearing a long sleeve sleep suit over night with a muslin draped over her. Looking forward to going home - one thing didn't realise I would be so ITCHY after the section! The medicine to combat it only work so well and for so long so had a bit of an itchy night.. pain is manageable with painkillers Grin

@BobbySD345 sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time, please keep us updated. My little brother was poorly with the same thing ten years ago and recovered quickly - wishing an equally as speedy recovery for your LO

Whentwobecomesthree · 15/06/2023 11:02

@toomanysausages the itchyness is next level. Thought I was going to go insane. Mine settled after about 36 hours

Hlc86 · 15/06/2023 14:38

How's everyone doing? DD is now taking 60ml-70ml every 3 hours shes definitely making up for being small and she is gaining weight fast, I have her outside with me most the day in her carrycot whilst I keep busy, I've just been told off by the other half as I've started to stain the decking whilst the weather is nice 😅 apparently I'm supposed to be "taking it easy" 😂

My LO has colic (luckily more in the day than night) the only thing that seems to settle him is putting him in the carrier so I’m thinking of buying a baby Bjorn one, anyone else have one and think it’s worth the money? I have a fabric sling as well but don’t get on well with it

BobbySD345 · 15/06/2023 16:07

@toomanysausages @DrinkingAllTheGin Thank you for your kind words ❤️ We have had some improvement today.
@toomanysausages Congratulations! I really wish I had opted for c section as the spinal I had for the forceps was the best thing I hae ever experienced after 24 hours of horrendous contractions and even though foreceps isn't pleasant I was so relaxed as there was no pain.
Also re the itching, I remember in my dazed state the guy saying I might be itchy and he'd give me something to counteract it...oh my god I could have clawed my stomach off !

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 15/06/2023 16:31

Congrats to new babies! Some lovely cuties here x

DD was weighed today at 11 weeks. She's 6lb 13 and a proper chunk. She's been discharged by nurses today but has a paediatric appointment in 2 weeks so they are keeping her on special formula until then. She's now not sleeping at all at night and being a right pain 😂This is what she does when she is supposed to sleep!

BobbySD345 · 15/06/2023 18:56

@BellaTheDarkOverlord oh my gosh what a cutie !! It must be so strange her being so teeny but 11 weeks old ! Our daughter is bigger than her at 3 days old, shes a riggt chunk.

Im so tempted to give up BF when we are discharged from hospital. I love it and she's taken to it amazingly but reading online and hearing other families on this unit who are in and out with jaundice levels going up and down and are all BF...is it even worth it. I want her out of here and thriving. So tempted to go buy some formula. I can't come back in here again I've got no tears left to cry.

firsttimelondonmummy · 15/06/2023 19:41

@BellaTheDarkOverlord that’s Elio’s favourite face too 🤣

P.s so glad to hear how well she’s doing @BellaTheDarkOverlord 💕

Funfamilytimes · 15/06/2023 22:19

@BobbySD345 jaundice is so common. My step daughter had severe jaundice and was formula fed straight from the get go. Freddie has jaundice but it’s low level and will go on its own, I’ve just got to pop him by the window 😋

DrinkingAllTheGin · 16/06/2023 02:13

@firsttimelondonmummy no tongue tie there is there! So cute.

@BobbySD345 jaundice is more common with EBF but by no means all get it. You are lucky enough to be getting on well. I would keep going if I were you.
You can get vit d drops that you put on your nipple that might help?

Baby3herewego · 16/06/2023 13:24

Okay ladies. I had a bloody show early this morning followed by some of my mucus plug. Having regular contractions. As I’m having a scheduled section I went into triage.

Midwife there checked me and said my cervix is open the size of a pinhole.

Can someone please tell me how I’ve had a show if my cervix is essentially closed??

PurBal · 16/06/2023 14:16

@Baby3herewego I’ve also had a show today after sweep yesterday but contractions haven’t started. I had similar though with DC1: I lost my plug and then waters broke 12 hours later with contractions starting, when I went in to be checked I was told I wasn’t in active labour and cervix was closed.

@BellaTheDarkOverlord @firsttimelondonmummy adorable 🥰

Baby3herewego · 16/06/2023 14:31

@PurBal guess it’s just waiting and seeing then. I’m 38+5 today. How about you?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 16/06/2023 14:40

@Baby3herewego I was told numerous times by doctors my cervix was closed but then they said I was bleeding from inside cervix. I think sometimes may it's not as closed as they think. Hope it goes well for you.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 16/06/2023 14:42

@firsttimelondonmummy What a cute face haha. Love the little faces they pull 😍
