Thought I'd start a new one as the old one is full!

I'm 37w exactly and definitely starting to feel more Braxton Hicks (they woke me up last night) but they don't seem to be getting more intense/frequent. Also a bit of lower back ache and general bump tenderness, plus I think I've lost a small bit of my mucus plug. Think this is probably normal at this stage and just my body gearing up for labour but am quite nervous as have a c section at 38+3 and hoping to last till then! Second pregnancy but last baby arrived at 36w so feels like uncharted territory!

How is everyone else feeling?

Thank you all for the well wishes, currently enjoying the newborn bubble. My recovery is going well, I was discharged from hospital the day after matilda was born, I was in alot of pain with trapped gas which I feel like never got mentioned to me and my milk has come in today so feeling rather heavy up top but apart from that it's been brilliant. And matilda has already gained 3oz so she is certainly feeding well 😍.

@ireneadler101 oh congratulations he is just gorgeous, sorry you had such a scary experience that must have been terrifying, but glad he is OK, he's perfect. How are you feeling?

Mistymeow · 10/06/2023 21:52

@ireneadler101 so sorry it was traumatic. I had a similar scary birth with my first and I had a debrief with the midwife a few months later, it helped hugely. Beautiful baby, glad all is well.

@Hlc86 can highly recommend peppermint tea for trapped wind, makes a huge difference.

We welcomed our baby boy Robin on Monday via ELCS. He was, just like his sister, transverse, and after a scary moment of poor colouring he thankfully let out a huge scream and all was well. I had a slight complication as apparently my bladder was stuck to my c section scar so I had to stay in an extra night for monitoring, but all seems to be fine. He also weighs 6lb 7oz which was not the 95th centile giant they were predicting!

Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies!
and those who haven’t… hope the heat is bearable for you 🥵

BobbySD345 · 11/06/2023 05:47

Our little girl arrived this morning around 1am after a very long and pretty traumatic labour which started 11am Friday. Congratulations to all the other new arrivals. Once I have figured out who and where I am, I'll take a photo, we will name her and I'll post in here again xx

Zaalfruit · 11/06/2023 06:14

Congratulations everyone!! Hope everyone is doing well .

Also I hope everyone that still are pregnant are well as this heat is hardcore !

( My baby has digestive issues if anyone has any tips or advice it will be welcomed . They said to young to determine lactose or cows milk protein allergy )

Whentwobecomesthree · 11/06/2023 08:44

@Zaalfruit have you had the baby checked for tongue tie? Not by the midwives but by an independent lactation consultant/ tongue tie practitioner. The threshold for dividing on the nhs is very high and a lot of babies benefit greatly from having it done. We got it done at day 6 this time and went from a very uncomfortable baby who wouldn't go on his back ever to one that slept in his snuzpod all night that night (with feeds of course) Game changer.

Rlt8990 · 11/06/2023 15:21

Is anyone else still pregnant ?! The heat is so intense !

HasHus86 · 11/06/2023 16:35

@Rlt8990 I’m 37+3 weeks and still pregnant and the heat is unbearable at this point. I don’t even want to leave my house anymore 😩

How are you coping?

BathshebaEverdeen · 11/06/2023 16:36

Hi @Rlt8990 still here with EDD 29/06.

I have my ELCS booked for 29/06, at the end of 40 weeks.

I have gone to triage thrice already for RFM. I have been told when I come in next time, I will be referred for EMCS.

I have just started maternity leave and now I am driving myself crazy with tracking movements and checking every time I wipe. Now add-on the heat!

Kelvie103 · 11/06/2023 17:38

Yep 38 weeks now and it's tough. I'm just spending all day sitting around not wanting to move. We did just put up the prints we had framed in baby's room today so it's finally finished! Had to go and quickly order a few summer dresses next day delivery as I've just been living in jeans up to this point and didn't have anything cool to fit!

PurBal · 11/06/2023 18:29

40w tomorrow. Was convinced he was coming last weekend. I’m so fed up. This has been the longest week.

AngelBlue12 · 11/06/2023 20:29

Got to be at the hospital tomorrow at 9 for induction, got the cot sorted this morning and I think I’ve packed the bags ok! Hoping for a speedy ECV and induction 😬

Rlt8990 · 11/06/2023 20:54

Ahh thanks for the replies, nice to see I'm not alone ! 39 week now, last baby was 41+5 and I was hoping not to go that long this time ! But that was a winter baby...

Starting to get the very helpful "is that baby here yet" comments now, and having another child at home is hard work as we can't do a lot, she is hot and bothered and I'm too tired to be much fun!

Good luck for the induction @AngelBlue12 and hope everything is OK @BathshebaEverdeen

C1umsyGiraffe · 11/06/2023 21:12

I'm 38 + 3 and have never dealt with the heat well anyway 🥵

Still got 5 days at work but come 4:30 on Friday she can come as soon as she likes! Starting to get a bit worried about feeding in this heat and trying to keep us both cool!

Mummy2Girls22 · 11/06/2023 21:16

@Rlt8990 yes I'm still very much pregnant due 28/06 🥵
Nesting kicked in today and I haven't stopped but it's great to feel productive apart from my ankles have swelled with the heat 😣 on the upside of things mat leave starts in 3 days 🎉
Congratulations to all you ladies who have had your beautiful babies already ❤️

Baby3herewego · 11/06/2023 21:28

Still preggy here too. My elective is on the 19th so 1 week to go. I feel like he might try to make an earlier appearance though.

So thankful we had air conditioning installed into the house last year!! It’s been so nice to stay cool in this heat.

toomanysausages · 11/06/2023 23:44

Have just done a mega catch up on the thread. Lots of gorgeous babies, congratulations ladies! 🤍🤍 I can't wait to meet baby now, I'm just so exited. I'm 37+5, ELCS following Tuesday (20th) at 39 weeks. Wouldn't complain if she came earlier though as I'm uncomfortable. Had growth scan and the sonographer said her head is right down. Keep getting fanny daggers and feeling like I'm going to pee myself (sometimes I do a little Grin). My back and legs hurt and all I do is whinge now. Come on baby!!!

BobbySD345 · 12/06/2023 05:06

I haven't been able to catch up on everything yet as I have had my hands full with our new baby girl but just wanted to quickly say for anyone who ends up with stitches, the Peri bottle feels sooooo good and cooling when you go for a wee. I've been filling and using an entire bottle to squirt when I go ! Also if you're being induced, eye mask and ear plugs is a good idea as the wards are active all day and night.
One final thing, if you're going to use pain relief, start it off early, have a plan and stick to it. Keep dosed up and remember, if you're struggling in the 2-6cm bracket, the 6-10cm is much harder and so, keep asking for relief options and look ahead to the latter stage which for some women is quick and tolerable but for others, much less so.
I'll be back on to catch up and look at pics and post one of our little girl too, who remains nameless, bless her.
Good Luck girls, you've got this ❤️

DrinkingAllTheGin · 12/06/2023 05:48

My hormones yesterday were bonkers. I've been struggling to feed dd due to flat nipples. So I am now combo feeding with expressed and formula. At her weigh in she had lost just over 10% so it is the right plan but it really upset me.
I have huge boobs (40j) and I can't get enough milk.
I had a good cry on DH last night and he took the evening shift soni could sleep. DD has actually slept in her crib next to me for most of the night, even if she won't now settle back down after the 4am feed.

Anyone else feeling like this? Overwhelmed and upset. DD is not yet a week old!

PurBal · 12/06/2023 07:28

@DrinkingAllTheGin big hugs, it’s hard when things don’t go “to plan”, but you’re doing great.

@Rlt8990 I declined a sweep with DC1 because I didn’t feel like he was ready and I knew the research is mixed. I have an appointment on Thursday (40+3) and assumed I would have one this time but also assumed DC2 would have arrived already. I’ve had bad antenatal depression so keen to get my hormones back to normal ASAP because at this point I’m at term and there is more benefit to me not being pregnant than to baby staying inside. Currently thinking I’ll have the sweep then ask for an induction next Monday (I was offered an induction for mental health) but I’m torn as I really want to trust my body to do this on its own. I feel like a terrible mum to my toddler.

Ally1992 · 12/06/2023 07:49

@DrinkingAllTheGin hope you’re ok, I cried most of the first week the hormones were all over the place and I was still trying to come to terms with the birth. We’re on the start of week 4 now and it’s gotten better 😊

Just catching up on the thread, congratulations to all the new babies!

BobbySD345 · 12/06/2023 11:05

Also, anyone being induced or thinking they may pop during this weather, FYI its absolutely boiling on the units. Everyone is soaked with sweat. Take loose cami cotton pjs and mini desk fans that can stand up on their own or be twisted round the bed arms and thank me later...

Rlt8990 · 12/06/2023 12:28

@PurBal really hope your ok, its hard to weigh up re induction. This heat really doesn't help anything ! I know the feeling with the older child, iv been really struggling with mine this weekend and had a bit of a meltdown this morning when she came barging in our room at 6 30 but refused to get into bed and watch TV. I'd only just drifted back to sleep after being awake from 4 ! Theb the guilt hit because her whole world is changing and she's been stuck at home a lot lately...

@BobbySD345 this is the other issue with the heat, units bad enough in winter ! Have ordered some fans and cool towels to take x

DrinkingAllTheGin · 12/06/2023 13:22

Thanks everyone. Seeing how combo feeding is helping bubs is making me feel better.
Tears do come easy but I think that is normal.

BobbySD345 · 12/06/2023 16:00

@Rlt8990 yes best to be prepared for the heat ! We have a window bay thank god but it's still boiling. Another tip is flannels. Hubby keeps going to wet one for me for the back of my neck and just to have a quick wipe down around my bra and neck. And it's too bloomin hot for slippers, go for sliders. I'd say flops but they've made me wear those awful compression socks the entire time and some don't work with flops because of where the toe bit sits.
