Has anyone had experience with obstetric cholestasis? I had it with my first and delivered him by planned C-section at 35 weeks. My lfts were extremely high at 28 weeks but medication controlled it for a good few weeks luckily.
20 weeks this week and I’ve started mildly itching my hands and feet which is a sign it’s coming back. Didn’t expect it this early 😔 I might be more aware as I know about it this time so maybe that’s why I’ve noticed it this early.

reememberly · 28/06/2023 14:29

Hi, how is everyone? Sorry I’ve been so quiet on here, thought my anxiety would ease after dating scan but it just seemed to get worse for a while (previous loss in early 2nd tri). I’ve been following along throughout though and it’s so nice to hear about people going through the same stages. Finally feeling a bit better after my 20 wk scan last week though, determined to try and enjoy it now. Feeling regular movement helps so much too - hope those still waiting get that reassurance soon. I had an anterior placenta with my first and it def makes for a slightly more stressful pregnancy, but I think there’s probably always something to worry about if, like me, you’re that way inclined…😅

reememberly · 28/06/2023 14:31

Sorry @GreenAventurine, no experience with OC, but I’ve read about it and sounds really difficult, hope you can get some help quickly.

Mrsrobinsonx · 28/06/2023 20:14

Hello lovelies!
I’ve been so busy with life lately but trying to catch up, I’ve got my 20 week scan on Friday and so nervous incase anything is wrong. I was with my SIL a couple months ago when they found a kidney problem at hers so I’ve been worrying! But feeling movements every day now so I’m excited about that xx

Cegbee · 28/06/2023 20:22

I have my detailed scan on Friday too- also very nervous! I've been feeling lots of movement though, which is nice. Still 95% sure we will not find out the sex, may change my mind at the last minute though! I think I'm having another girl though.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 28/06/2023 22:55

Had my 20 week scan today and we’re having a little boy! 💙 Which will be a big change after having 2 DDs, we’re delighted.

Baby is measuring on the smaller side compared to my other 2 at 31% where DD1 was born 88% and DD2 66%, so I’ll bring this up at my next midwife appointment, but the sonographer said it was nothing to worry about and everything looked great.

I still can’t believe I’m halfway already, I hope the pace keeps up and it doesn’t start to drag as the weeks go on.

I have my 20 week scan today - gosh I'm nervous! It's been such a long time coming. We sadly have 3 close friends that didn't get pass this point, which hasn't helped with my anxiety. It's lovely hearing everyone's stories.

@PinkPlantCase - I am still occasionally sick, weird you weren't sick before though.

Good luck for all the up and coming scans. x

Travellingislife · 29/06/2023 06:45

Morning everyone,
To you who are adding siblings to the brood; which books do you recommend to prepare your little ones for the baby? Or any tips and tricks in general? I know it’s been mentioned before but I can’t remember 🤪

Mrsrobinsonx · 29/06/2023 07:28

@Cegbee oooh exciting! We aren’t finding out but I’m also convinced by the 12 week ‘nub’ that we are having our 3rd girl 😆

@BabyBabyBaby123 congratulations! I don’t think it will drag, if anything these weeks will fly by! For me anyway with it being summer holidays soon.

@Crazybrowncow good luck today, mine is tomorrow. Excited and nervous x

@Travellingislife I haven’t done books and stuff with mine but just keeping them involved all the time, I’m always talking through what it will be like when baby is here etc. I guess it helps mine are older, maybe depending on age books are a good idea - I’ve heard the one about my mummy has a baby in her tummy is good!

Mummypig23 · 29/06/2023 07:30

@Travellingislife our DD is 3.5 and we’ve got there’s a house inside my mummy which is lovely. Might be confusing if you’re having a girl as talks about baby brother.

LilmissCa · 29/06/2023 07:54

@Crazybrowncow me too today. It's going to be a long morning until 2pm. Was trying to not let anxiety kick in but the last 2days have been non stop worry. Good luck to you 😘

Rainbowmumm · 29/06/2023 08:52

19 weeks tomorrow with my second baby! I had a private scan a few weeks ago which told me i'm having a girl but i'm having NHS scan next week to confirm 💓

reememberly · 29/06/2023 09:49

Wishing good scans for everyone in the next couple of days.
@Travellingislife mine are a bit older too, but I’ve noticed my local library has loads of picture books on this theme. Might be worth trying a few from yours and then you could always buy one or two that you think are better suited to your child/family since the endless repetition will help! What age is your little one?

spanglesj · 29/06/2023 16:54

Heya another movements post! I felt baby loads last week but she has gone quieter since I arrived at my parents for a few days which I’m finding incredibly stressful (being here at my parents) called midwife but not got through yet. I feel the odd swish so think it is ok but feeling the anxiety now as was proper kicking at the wkend! I wonder if feeling stressed can affect things. I keep hearing though how at 21 weeks it’s normal for movements to come and go.
By the way I rung delivery suite last time I was worried but they just direct you to midwife until later along basically.
So hard isn’t it! Once you start feeling things it’s scary for it to come and go! xx

Travellingislife · 29/06/2023 17:21

Thank you ladies! My son is 3 in August, we talk a lot about the baby in mummy’s tummy and he likes kissing the bump and talking to the baby 😊
When we started potty training I felt like books really helped so we will get a few, borrowing some from the library was a great idea!

Cegbee · 29/06/2023 19:04

@Travellingislife I've been recommended 'let's talk to Mummy's tummy' by Helen lacy but I haven't been able to get it here in Canada.

Spareincoming · 29/06/2023 20:07

@Travellingislife We’ve got “let's talk to Mummy's tummy” And it’s a lovely book; we had to buy it second hand and it was pricey but definitely worth it. It goes through the weeks of pregnancy from week 12 and has little snippets of information about the development of baby as well as talking about baby using older siblings baby stuff etc.

spanglesj · 29/06/2023 20:24

Nice tips on the books. Library is a good idea because can’t justify the cost atm. We have what’s in mummy’s tummy which is great fun.

baby is busy this eve. So I’ve answered my own question, at 21 wks with an Anterior placenta yes it can come and go for me. xx

LilmissCa · 29/06/2023 20:30

Scan all good today, finally might sink in now there's a baby in there. Little bubba was hiding its head so took a while to get all checks done but all good. Measuring a few days ahead which is no surprise as my other 2 were all born on 90 centile

LeeanneD11 · 29/06/2023 20:51

Is it common to have shoulder pain, I keep getting shoulder pain in the same shoulder on the left side it happens every so often and constant headache too .

The shoulder pain hurts so much is there any tips to ease the pain! I'm currently just over 18 weeks xx

GreenAventurine · 29/06/2023 21:08

Can anyone tell me what happens at the 2o week scan. So we have bloods or anything? Also, along with stressing about the usual (making sure baby is ok in scan) I’m stressed that I’ve bought a load of pink and my gender scan is wrong. I mean… what are the odds haha x

Psqueak87 · 29/06/2023 21:16

I’ve put off any big purchases (pram, bassinet etc) until after 30 weeks. But out of excitement I’ve been buying the odd bodysuit and sleeper here and there when I go to the shops. I have no idea how much of this stuff I need. I just did a count and I have the following.

newborn (is this the same as 0-3? My MIL sent me the newborn tagged items, and I hadn’t found any “newborn” stuff in Canada)
Footed sleepers - 3
Bodysuits - 5

0-3 months
Footed sleepers - 8
Bodysuits - 9

3-6 months
Footed sleepers - 6
Bodysuits - 3

I also have a couple of random bits like hats and matching sets, a fleecy hoodie etc.

should I keep buying? I just have zero idea what’s normal. My boyfriend just saw me tallying everything up and he thinks I’ve bought way too much.

I don’t want to be washing clothes every day. But I also don’t want to buy too much.

also, I see on Tik tok everyone talks about muslin burp cloths, and you always need more than you think. I bought 20 of those, I assume I should buy more?

I know there’s always Amazon delivery if I don’t have enough, but I’d like to be semi prepared!

added a photo of my most recent delivery!

I can't answer about 20 weeks scan as haven't had mine yet , but I feel your pain with the clothes buying as I've brought blue things too as was told I was having a boy and now im worried it could be wrong haha and my friend has just got us a personalised blanket with his name on too so I'm hoping it's right but I won't know for another 2 weeks , I hope your scan goes well xx

38andtrying · 29/06/2023 21:19

@LilmissCa congratulations on a good scan, enjoy it xx

Mummypig23 · 29/06/2023 21:32

@GreenAventurine I didn’t have bloods taken at 20 week scan. It was just the scan and they also did my whooping cough vaccine.

@Psqueak87 my experience is that you need several plain bodysuits and footed sleep suits that you don’t mind getting dirty. The newborn stuff is generally smaller than the 0-3 stuff. I think for the first month we used newborn stuff and then maybe went up a size after that. DD spent the first month (at least) in plain white sleepsuits that I got in a multipack and she could easily go through 3 or 4 outfits a day!
