@Psqueak87 I think with regards to how much you did it does depend a bit on whether you have a sickie baby. My first was hardly ever sick and didn't even regurg so I bough a load of muslins and didn't use them much but i know they're very useful if your baby isn't like that. She did have a poo explosion every time she fed though so I did need a lot of baby grows! She was big so I didn't really fit in newborn stuff at all. In the UK you could get newborn, 0-1 month then 0-3 month.

I found the plain white M&s sleep suits really good and you can order them online in Canada from M&S Canada. I would say you probably need closer to 10 unless you want to be constantly washing!

Psqueak87 · 29/06/2023 21:59

@Cegbee @Mummypig23 THANKS you for the advice! Will see if I can order those M&S sleepsuits online. Really wish I could order M&S food online 😭

On another note, how much weight has everyone put on if you don’t mind sharing?
I was 133lb in Feb and 146lb now! I feel like it’s all food too because I’ve got an unquenchable hunger at all times!

foodislife1 · 29/06/2023 22:03

Not sure about lbs but have put on 7kg in 22 weeks
:/ put on 20lg during last pregnancy so I'm
Hoping it'll slow down!

I'm massive and I'm only 18 weeks and this is my 3rd baby , I don't remember being this big with my previous babies . It's so noticeable every time I see someone they say your getting bigger each time , or I get you sure there's not 2 in there . I'm always hungry too 😂 xx

This is me now at 18w + 4days xx

Psqueak87 · 29/06/2023 22:13

@foodislife1 ok similar to me, I’ve put on 6kg and I’m 22 weeks.

@LeeanneD11 oh you don’t look massive at all it’s a lovely bump. Same as mine and it’s only my first time!

Your bump is perfect and petite . I feel huge lol 😂 xx

Spareincoming · 29/06/2023 22:14

@Psqueak87
I’d say size-wise newborn is up to 7lbs6oz; 0-1 is 7.6 to 9.6 and 0-3 is 12oz. Or it used to be waaay back when I used to work in a shop that sold baby stuff! It’s correlated with my DCs sizes though.

Muslins - we have had the same 12 for years; they wash and dry so quickly that even with one of the DC being a puking monster we managed.

One thing I’d recommend for you to try and get is some of the Columbia ski wear bunting suits; they do a fleece version and a down filled version and they’re the best things ever for Autumn days/ early winters. I have been sent a few over the years from my friend in AB. She’d tell you not to by them new as folks use them for so little time before selling them on, just learn how to properly wash down filled stuff. (Lesson learned!)

Psqueak87 · 29/06/2023 22:35

@Spareincoming thanks so much for the advice! I’ll order a couple of those suits, a lady at work actually gave me a couple of similar looking north face ones, but they’re for 9-12 so I’ll grab some smaller ones!

@LeeanneD11 your bump looks lovely to me too! But I’m also feeling huge, we’re so hard on ourselves!

20 week scan is more measurements and checks so lasts a little longer. I had to move from side to side and was sent for a wee to get baby to move position!
No bloods on this one. I had to book whooping cough vaccine separately with my GP (nurse).

Thack · 29/06/2023 22:53

20 muslins should be plenty. I got away with less with a sicky babe.

I found sleepsuits which button down one leg a pain in the neck. Trying to manoeuvre baby's leg in was difficult, where the ones with poppers on both legs seemed easier. I've not heard anyone else say it so maybe that's just me!
It's a shame though, the cutest ones are the other style!

I'm going for second hand bundles on fb this time around as we know the sex. We'll buy a few nice bits but as others have said you can expect a few outfit changes a day so I'd say it's OK to bulk up (within budget)!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 29/06/2023 23:08

I was 195 pounds before pregnancy, went down to 181 pounds by week 10. I'm now 185 pounds at 18 weeks. Despite it being my first I feel huge though! Pretty sure I'm bigger than both of you @Psqueak87 @LeeanneD11 😂😂😂

I've had to get myself maternity clothes but haven't dared by anything for baby yet, maybe I'll relax after 20 week scan but we shall see!

Psqueak87 · 29/06/2023 23:42

@FlyingHighFlyingLow I lost 8lb in the first trimester, have since put that back on PLUS 13lb. I hate my body changing but I can’t deny I love eating all of the food!

I'm somewhat slowed by the fact that, even though I'm no longer nauseous and can eat meals, the sight of unprepared food still makes me gag and retch! I can't even make a sandwich without gagging 🙈 So my poor DH has to make everything and it appears ready to eat on a plate in front of me.

I'm still eating more of other things. Fruity chewable sweets are my life. And fruity ice lollies! I nearly drove my husband mental last week after I started crying because I really wanted red and purple starbursts ... but they needed to be an ice lolly. Starburst do ice lollies but not only red and purple. Rowntrees ones also too many colours. He ended up scouring the internet to find rowntrees make single colour push up ones, then went to buy some (took 4 shops to find) and giving me a red and purple one in each hand to alternate and eat 😂😂😂

Psqueak87 · 30/06/2023 00:27

@FlyingHighFlyingLow oh my god what a sweetheart! He sounds like a keeper!

im with you on the ice lollies. I found a pack of lemon and blood orange flavour ones and im obsessed!

PinkPlantCase · 30/06/2023 07:42

@Psqueak87 different sizes will probably be slightly different in different countries so check the weight and length of each. We have family in Mexico and their sizing was always smaller than ours for the same age. Friends in Europe and their sizing was always bigger.

Equally in the U.K. sizes vary so much between different stores, I think I ended up organising the clothes by their actual size when compared to each other.

I think you’ve probably got enough to start with tbh. I’m sure people will give you some too. You also don’t really know how big baby will be, DS was in newborn for about 2 weeks, some babies aren’t in it at all but it might be big on others 🤷‍♀️

A November baby will be so different for me though! DS was June and he spent most of his time in a vest and a pair of socks 😂

Mrsrobinsonx · 30/06/2023 11:00

I’ve just had my 20 week scan and baby is perfect! They just did a more detailed scan but no bloods or anything after.
Im so excited everything looks healthy. 🥺

I’ve put on 10lbs so far which I think is a lot but also been eating a fair bit 😂
and I always get newborn sleepsuits as 0-3 seem to be huge for at least 6 weeks x

Katiec1 · 30/06/2023 15:21

20 weeks down, 20 more weeks to go, feeling so thankful to get to the halfway mark!
Big scan next Friday. Anyone else feel their pregnancy is going quick 😳🙈
great seeing some having their big scans already! Hope everyone is keeping as well as can be ☺️

JD90 · 30/06/2023 15:38

Has anyone on here bought or used a pregnancy pillow at all? I'm struggling with pgp and general discomfort and am thinking I should just get on and buy one sooner rather than later. Any suggestions? Hope you're all having a good Friday :)

Katiec1 · 30/06/2023 16:14

Hey @JD90 I got this one a couple of weeks ago through Amazon, very quick delivery. I know it’s probably not needed till further on in the pregnancy but just said I’d get it in case. I have been using it the last few nights as Im finding I’m ending up on my back in my sleep then when I wake I have back pain so this is keeping me on my side.
its probably no harm in getting one that way if it’s needed it’s there ☺️

Does anyone suffer with shortness of breath ? I've been suffering with it for about a week now , I'm only 18weeks (19 on Monday) and not sure if this is common at this stage .

Is there any tips or concerns I should be worried about xx

Spareincoming · 30/06/2023 21:42

@JD90 i have an Amazon cheapo U shaped pillow - it’s 9ft long and has been a godsend with previous pregnancies; I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. Really recommend the long pillows a lot.
I’m away this weekend and already regretting not bringing it!

PinkPlantCase · 30/06/2023 21:42

@LeeanneD11 I feel it a bit more out of breath when I go up the stairs now. I guess I’m heavier and I think things are starting to get a bit squashed! I don’t think it’s a problem.

Ah ok , that's what I'm thinking my bump is massive , I'm just shortness of breath going up stairs & doing school runs too or even getting out of bed xx
