Hiya @Nclktnntt i think I may be the last mine is next Tuesday! I’ll be 13 + 6! Mine was just the date they sent me.

so glad everyone’s scans went well.

I have lost my letter can’t find it anywhere do I need it for the appointment 😬?

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 20/06/2023 18:59

I'm also rhesus negative! A rather rare and useful subset so I also have had to have a blocker put on my blood donating account until mid next year because they call me daily if I don't have an appointment booked!

It means extra injections but the amount of injections and bloods done anyway I'm sure I'll barely notice 😂.

@Georgia31 that’s great they’re doing that. I don’t think that’s offered where I am or at least when I brought up being rhesus negative the midwife didn’t mention it. It’d be good to know so it wasn’t something to be concerned about.

It wasn't offered when I was having my little boy in 2018.

Maybe it would be worth asking if it's available in your area. It is good though isn't it, just one less thing to constantly be worrying about if you have any knocks or bleeds.

Georgia31 · 20/06/2023 19:07

@Re3 No lovely you don't need your letter, you'll be absolutely fine

Re3 · 20/06/2023 19:39

@Georgia31 thank you!! It’s annoying me now 😂 got to be here somewhere! I hid it from kids and myself clearly 🤣😬

Nclktnntt · 20/06/2023 19:48

@Re3 ahhh the safe place where everything goes to vanish 😂😂

Those who have had your scans - do we get to keep a copy now? My letter had the section blacked out where it said if you want a copy to bring 5 pound coins. I def want a copy and so does my mom.

Mushroo · 20/06/2023 19:50

@Nclktnntt i got given 3 today for free and was asked if I needed anymore. I think there was a machine to buy more but not sure.

But free where I am!

FirstMondayInMay · 20/06/2023 20:19

@Nclktnntt i got given 2 for free off the person scanning but saw people whilst I was there using the machine to buy some for £5 each! Which I think is extortionate.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 20/06/2023 20:21

@Georgia31 Thanks, yes will definitely ask about it at my next appointment. It’s my second pregnancy and I’ve had a rhesus positive baby before so it would be good to find out - hopefully this one will be negative but even if positive it’s best to know.

Nclktnntt · 20/06/2023 20:30

Thanks guys. Oh @FirstMondayInMay I agree, my husbands response "we have a really good scanner and photo paper, we'll buy one if we have too and do our own copies" 😂

wannabemum38 · 20/06/2023 20:38

@Mushroo also rhesus negative here too. Had a anti d injection at 10 weeks as I was spotting. But I've already had a blood test to see if the baby is negative too. Hope they are in some ways as will make my life easier but also if they are a girl then they will go on to have these issues too so swings and roundabouts. I'm 0 negative which only accounts for 15% of population so not that common.
My trust charged us £5 for 1 photo or 3 for £10. Quite pricey but worth it.
Having a private scan on Saturday as getting anxious about baby with all the drugs I'm taking lately. Hope all is OK

Georgia31 · 20/06/2023 21:16

@Re3 Always the way 😂. The best thing about the BadgerNotes is the bit where it has all of your appointments planned out.

Oh I completely get it, my little boy is positive and also has sickle cell trait like his daddy. So for us it would be good to know baby's blood type, one less thing to have to wait to find out when they are born.

RG84 · 20/06/2023 21:46

My hospital charged £5 for 1 and £10 for 3. Silly really but good shout on photocopying 🤣

I forgot to say, well we didn't end up finding a baby sitter on 12 week scan so we ended up taking our toddler in the hopes I would get a nice person who would let other half and toddler in but we knew they wouldn't. So of course they had to sit outside so had the scan on my own which wasn't fun however glad it went well. So may have a private scan done next week so my partner can also see baby.

Re3 · 20/06/2023 21:49

@Nclktnntt @Georgia31 the safe place is the one 🤣 sometimes I wish I could escape to it for half an hour of quiet 🤣🤣

yes I agree I wish they sent emails I can’t loose 🙈🙈

Georgia31 · 22/06/2023 07:54

Morning, how is everyone today?
I woke up several times last night with a pain in the side of my belly and a bit of back pain. I've also been getting the worst dreams for about a week now.
Is anyone else getting similar pains?

Moriquendi · 22/06/2023 09:07

@Georgia31 Definitely yes to pain on the side of my stomach! Mine is quite low, more just above my hip? Think it is round ligament pain?

Does anyone else have really dry and brittle hair? My hair was so lovely and thick last pregnancy but this time it feels like straw no matter how much conditioner I use!

SMG1992 · 22/06/2023 09:11

@Moriquendi Yes! My hair is in really bad condition, I skipped my balayage too so I haven't dyed it in ages either.
To be honest I'm still waiting for this whole glowing pregnancy look to start because I look rough! There is a wives tale that says girls take away your looks so maybe we've got girls?

TulipVictory · 22/06/2023 10:05

Don't know if anyone remembers but I missed my first trimester screen due to a holiday and then catching covid.

I didn't get my scan until 15 weeks but they offered me the quad test. Has anyone had it done and is this a good chance? I'm still tempted to get the NIPT for reassurance

It's a good result. I had combined test and mine was 1 in 3000. 1 in 150 is high chance and has further testing.

Quad test is less accurate than the combined, both less accurate than NIPT. If you didn't get your scan until 15 weeks, with wait for result I assume you're now about 17 weeks? Depends on your situation.

If you're 30, on lower income and your chances are low anyway I'd probably wait and see if anything is picked up at the anatomy scan in a couple of weeks. By the time NIPT is organised and results in you'll be having your scan anyway.

If you're higher chance at 40+, have the funds to spend £500 on the NIPT easily, then I'd probably go for it for the reassurance.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/06/2023 10:53

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today at 17 weeks. They now refuse to listen for babies heartbeat at this appointment in my trust :(

Lost a baby previously at 19 weeks so really wanted the reassurance that all is still OK. I had a private scan last week so chances are they are buy as I found out before, you just never know. We can't really afford another private scan so it's going to be a anxious 3 weeks. My placenta is also at the front so unlikely to feel baby before the 20 weeks scan either.

FirstMondayInMay · 22/06/2023 11:00

@Georgia31 I'm getting the odd sharp pain sort of half way up my hip, I’m still sleeping on my front though so I think I need to try and start side sleeping because it’s mainly when I wake up and turn over that I’m getting it

wannabemum38 · 22/06/2023 11:37

@TulipVictory I think its definitely a good result but it's personal choice whether to go for the NIPT test.
I'm 42 will be 43 at time of birth and mine came back low 1 in 2100 which at my age the average is according to the letter 1 in 54. We discussed getting the more precise test but we are happy to take those odds.
@17caterpillars1mouse That's frustrating they couldn't listen for you. I have no idea if my trust listen for a heartbeat I have my 16 week on Monday. I also have a private scan on Saturday as my anxiety hasn't improved regarding this pregnancy at all. Is there an epu you could ring to ask about a reassurance scan seeing as you have history you may be provided with one. So sorry to hear about your previous loss.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 22/06/2023 12:01

@TulipVictory those are really good odds. I think mine last time was 1 in 500 or something like that and I never went for NIPT. In the thousands is really good.

NoodleQueen90 · 22/06/2023 12:11

@17caterpillars1mouse someone in another group I'm in had the midwife listen for the heartbeat at her 16 week appointment and after 20-30mins couldn't find anything. She was basically told it's common at that stage depending on how baby is lying and not to worry (🤯) and sent home!!! She went for a private scan that evening and everything was fine, babies heartbeat was clear to see. I think this is why many trusts don't do it at this stage now as it's often less than reassuring.
I've no idea if mine does it or not, I've not even got my 16 week appointment yet...might contact them as I'm 15+1 and it would be good to have some notice for work.
