Is anyone else having their 12 week scan soon? I’ve got mine this Friday at 11.6 weeks. I’m not sure what it’s like across the country but I’ve been told by lots of staff here how busy they are.

My nausea seems to have eased off a lot but I dare not stop taking the tablets in case it returns badly. I have now got a UTI though. Hoping for an easier ride 12 weeks+

My scan is Friday too! I'll be 12+6 by LMP but based on EPU scan and ovulation dates more like 12+2/3.

@HannahLouD I wouldn't worry about the fibroid too much. I have been under gynae care for management of fibroids for 4-5 years now. I had two surgeries in the past couple of years to remove them and I've had several discussions with my consultants about fibroid and pregnancy.

Did they tell you the location/type of the fibroid? They are either intramural (inside the uterus wall), submucosal (inside the cavity of uterus) or subserosal (outside the wall of uterus).

I have a 5 cm intramural fibroid at the moment (9 weeks pregnant). The fibroid was there before pregnancy and when I had a scan last week, it hadn't grown. My consultant had said that 1/3 of pre-pregnancy fibroids stay the same in size, 1/3 grow and 1/3 decrease because of hormonal changes. In my case, the consultant told me I can expect some pain but it won't cause any other danger to the baby in terms of its growth and development. Initially, I was thinking the fibroid might compete with the baby for blood supply but apparently that is not a thing.

If you have a large fibroid growing into the cavity of uterus (submucosal fibroid) BEFORE you get pregnant it might be an obstacle in conceiving but once you are pregnant the fibroid doesn't pose much risk. Depending on the location/type of fibroid and if it is very large (way larger than what you have), it might block the baby's way of exit in natural brith which would lead to c-section. But that's something that will only become clear closer to the end of your pregnancy and I don't think you should worry about it considering the small size of your fibroid.

Hi all hope you don’t mind me joining, I’m also due in December, last year I had a MMC and suffer from anxiety anyway, I have my first private scan on Friday I should be 8+1.
im terrified about it all.
hope everything is going really well for everyone else ❤️

wannabemum38 · 15/05/2023 16:48

After a stressful weekend of spotting cramps then taking antibiotics I had an allergy too and finally pushing the epu for a scan today I got to see my little bean today. Relieved is not the word to describe it especially as it was kicking away and waved its little arm stubbs about. Measuring well at 10+2. Looks like it was definitely a twin as they found a teeny fetal pole in other sac so got to be referred to multiple births to keep an eye hope it doesn't cause any problems.
The spotting is so worrying and I totally get the worry @99SR all I would say is really push to get a reassurance scan if you can I really had to.fight for mine had to wait since Thursday evening to find out if I'm miscarrying or not and it felt like years. But we know our bodies and worries and they are meant to be there to help us in these times.

99SR · 15/05/2023 16:49

@SMG1992 i phoned EPU. They are squeezing me in for a reassurance scan on Wednesday morning. Super thankful but not holding out much hope!

99SR · 15/05/2023 16:51

@wannabemum38 aw I’m so glad your scan went well! Almost out of the ‘danger zone too’ really chuffed for you.
I phoned EPU and just emphasised that I’m struggling with anxiety due to previous MMC so they’ve squeezed me in for a scan on Wednesday morning so will be a bit of a wait but Atleast I’ll know one way or another xx

Oldermum84 · 15/05/2023 18:15

Hi everyone glad I found you again! I've got my 12 week scan on Friday too when I'll be 11+6 by LMP or 12+2 by my early scan.

Oldermum84 · 15/05/2023 18:15

Is anyone else off work sick with nausea etc?

Mummy1502 · 15/05/2023 18:16

@wannabemum38 glad the scan went well for you today x

Is anyone else off work sick with nausea etc?

I've struggled through but it really sucked! Thankfully I've always kept liquid down so not 'dangerous' and no hospital admissions but I've lost about 6kg since I was 6 weeks. I'm having more good days now I'm almost 12 weeks but the left over food adversion is a real problem. Pretty much any food I've eaten in the past 6 weeks turns my stomach as I just remember how ill I felt and how awful it tasted coming back up the other way! I can't even face toast 🙈. I'm hoping it will improve as I get more good days (please let me have more good days! 🤣)

midnights0 · 15/05/2023 18:24

hoping it’s okay I join this! I’m 8 weeks pregnant after a chemical last year, I’ve got my 8 week scan (private) on Thursday! I almost don’t want to go I’m so scared! I’ve estimated my due date to be around dec 26th! 🎅🏻

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 15/05/2023 18:26

I should say I was a size 12 pre-pregnancy so while I have some extra weight to lose, 6kg is still a really good chunk of my body weight!

Despite the scales being 6kg down, I now need a size 14 for my waistline so even though I'm not gaining, I'm definitely changing shape and definitely have the bloating 😅.

JC89 · 15/05/2023 18:45

@Oldermum84 Yes! I've been off for 2 weeks so far and will be off this week too - I'm hoping it will improve after that... I was off for 4 weeks in my first pregnancy. The first trimester was definitely the hardest that time...

Re3 · 15/05/2023 19:36

About the same as me then I’m meant to be 8 weeks on Thursday! I’m so scared too just praying it will all be ok, and for you too, really hope it all goes perfect ❤️

DaisyMay25 · 15/05/2023 19:44

@Oldermum84 I was sent home Wednesday as my nausea had made me not eat and drink properly for a few days and it took a toll, I spent Wednesday afternoon until this morning pretty much bed bound. It's a million times worse when I'm having to stand too. I'm back at work now and it seems to be a bit better. Ice pops are really helping!

Mushroo · 15/05/2023 19:44

@midnights0 welcome! We’re fairly close on dates as I’m 8 weeks on Saturday and having a scan then. Fingers crossed for us both :)

I range from feeling relaxed, to panicking that I don’t really have many symptoms. Can’t wait to get the scan done really so I’ll know either way!

DaisyMay25 · 15/05/2023 19:46

@midnights0 hello! I'm 8 weeks tomorrow with a due date of 26th December too! EPU dated me the same but who knows what dating scan will put me as

I have mine booked - I'll be just under 13 weeks. My booking in appointment isn't until I'm 11 weeks.

When I referred myself to the midwife there was a lot of huffing and puffing (from them!) as I'd left it "so late" to book in. I was nearly 7 weeks. So I assume it's very busy at the moment.

midnights0 · 15/05/2023 20:01

@Mushroo hello! Thank you! Good luck for your scan! Is this your first? It’s mine! I didn’t have many symptoms except for being extremely exhausted and nauseous the last week but I had my first round of morning sickness this morning but i convinced myself it was probably anxiety and not morning sickness 😂 I’m just scared not excited at all for this scan rn.

@DaisyMay25 i estimated my due date from my LMP but I haven’t seen my midwife yet, I have that appointment for tomorrow! Wondering if I’m behind or ahead!

Mushroo · 15/05/2023 20:05

@midnights0 yes my first as well so I’m second guessing everything!

Itonlytakesaminute · 15/05/2023 20:31

Thanks for the new thread @Justanothercyster

@wannabemum38 so glad for you that you saw baby and all is good it must have been a worry

I went for a private scan at the weekend, was measuring 2 days behind what I was on the previous scan but she wasn't concerned.
I'm 10weeks now!

Mummy1502 · 15/05/2023 20:38

Anyone else patiently waiting for a normal appetite to come back, only seem to be able to eat what I fancy and hate seeing foods on social media/tv when normally I’m a real foodie, I love all the cooking programmes and now I look and think that’s disgusting 😂 I mean il take that over sickness anyway, that I am thankful for, not feeling or being sick, slight nausea here and there if I get too tired or slightly hungry but I find eating helps/sleeping when I can, 8+5 today, time seems to have flown by x

Peaceandloves · 15/05/2023 20:39

Thanks for the tag @Justanothercyster xx

bringmearainbow · 15/05/2023 20:45

Placemarking 😍 I've got my third scan at the EPU tomorrow nervous is an understatement 🙈
