Got my booking appointment on 23rd!

Spoke to a doctor at work today who's referred me for an early scan tomorrow, I'm terrified!
She did a quick scan with her machine but it was too old to see much.
Gonna be a very sleepless night for me

Lakeside88 · 02/05/2023 13:28

I'm 6 weeks today and have my booking appt on the 22nd, really grateful that it's after work hours too! Hit with morning sickness yesterday, here we go!

HannahLouD · 02/05/2023 13:30

@DaisyMay25 are you having an early scan for pain/bleeding or just for reasurrance? I'm sure it'll be just fine!! How far along are you again?
Mine's at 10am tomorrow so I feel your pain!! Just want to go to bed and for it to be tomorrow morning already 😅x

DaisyMay25 · 02/05/2023 13:33

Reassurance, because of the blighted ovum last time and no symptoms for it and the dr pretty much understand my worry that my husband has bad sperm so natural pregnancies seem to end badly for us because of that. She thinks a scan is needed. Mines at 2:30 I'm working but it's at the other hospital so gotta get the shuttle over 😂 I'm six weeks so I also know it's still very early, I'm assuming it'll be a transvaginal scan which will be better for that gestation anyway.
Hopefully everything is fine with yours too, how many weeks are you now?

bringmearainbow · 02/05/2023 13:52

@wannabemum38 work have to give you the time off for maternity appointments but annoying you have to go back and do another booking in 🤦🏼‍♀️

HannahLouD · 02/05/2023 14:16

@DaisyMay25 I'm sorry to hear about the blighted ovum.. that must have been really hard :(
I've got my fingers crossed for you that everything goes well tomorrow!
I'm so glad I WFH and not at the hospital or I'd want to go in all the time for checks 🙈 (I don't work in anything to do with maternity, I work for the neurodevelopmental services) but I know people who do work in that field 😅🤦🏻‍♀️

Exactly 2 weeks ago I was measuring 6+2 so I should be 8+2 today. I had an internal scan last time but not sure what to expect this time?!
I'm feeling so so nervous, especially as I have barely any symptoms. I just hope the little bean is still growing in there 🤞🙏

Please do let us know how you get on and got everything crossed for you! (I'm sure everything will be just fine 🤍) x

PhyllisVance23 · 02/05/2023 14:56

How many of you are taking anti sickness med? And what's it called? My nausea is all day every day and although I'm not puking, it's starting to feel unbearable. I can't do anything, including look after my son. Rang GP and she said there's not much research into the effects these meds have on the developing foetus, and that she would only prescribe if I had HG and couldn't keep anything down and became unwell myself. ? Is this correct?

Mummy1502 · 02/05/2023 15:06

@PhyllisVance23 prochlorperazine is good but ondansetron is the best, I’m starting to think my nausea is actually from the pregnacare as I didn’t take it all day and was fine then took it about 2 hours ago and feel nauseous again x

Itonlytakesaminute · 02/05/2023 15:15

I had my scan today (early via fertility clinic) and all looks great. Measuring bang on what I should be 8 weeks 1 day) and a lovely beating heart seen.
She also could see the placenta forming and the amniotic sac.
Lots of luck to others having their scans soon

wannabemum38 · 02/05/2023 15:22

@bringmearainbow work don't know yet got no plans to tell them until I'm starting to show really as only just started there!

PhyllisVance23 · 02/05/2023 15:29

@Mummy1502 interesting - after you take it, are you nauseous for long? I take that, but my nausea is constant.

bringmearainbow · 02/05/2023 15:33

@wannabemum38 ahhh yes makes sense 🙈

Mummy1502 · 02/05/2023 15:34

@Itonlytakesaminute congratulations x

Mummy1502 · 02/05/2023 15:34

@PhyllisVance23 the ondansetron take the nausea away completely for me x

HannahLouD · 02/05/2023 15:40

@Itonlytakesaminute amazing news! 😍 I should be 8+3 tomorrow so hopefully will see similar at my scan! 🤞
Can I ask - did they do an internal or external scan? My one at 6 weeks was internal but don't know whether I should go with a full bladder tomorrow or not? x

wannabemum38 · 02/05/2023 15:46

@HannahLouD I had an external at weekend at 8+1 could see everything okay I requested that as didn't want an internal. So I'd say go with a full bladder and then you can go for a wee if they need to do an internal

HannahLouD · 02/05/2023 15:51

@wannabemum38 ah thanks for that! I'll make sure I need a wee in case then 😅
I was told at my first scan that I have a retroverted uterus... So I dunno if they'll be able to see enough externally but I guess it's worth going with a full bladder anyway... Like you say, they can always just ask me to go for a wee if not 😂x

Jammydodged · 02/05/2023 16:32

@PhyllisVance23 I take Cyclazine Hydrochloride for nausea. The midwife and GP both said it was completely safe.

SunSparkle · 02/05/2023 17:00

I was on stemetil for months in my last pregnancy. Safe for first and second trimester and under advisement for third tri. There is lots of suitable anti sickness meds for pregnancy and if you’re doctor doesn’t know that then ask for a second opinion. They really are life changing medications.

SunSparkle · 02/05/2023 17:02

I’ve got my booking appointment next week - it’s in person this time whereas my first pregnancy it was on the phone for covid protocols. I’m hoping my nausea doesn’t kick in before then as the doctor won’t just write me a ‘just in case’ prescription.

also if you’re struggling with nausea, please know that you can get pregnancy vitamins as a liquid. I regularly used to try and swallow the massive pregnacare ones and make myself sick and this time I’ve got the liquid which is much better for me.

DaisyMay25 · 02/05/2023 17:45

@HannahLouD I honestly think I have ptsd from it. Realistically I couldn't wait 12 weeks for a scan knowing that entire time it could be empty. Haha I know I work in the best and worse area for this it's gonna be a long night and a long morning for me waiting.
I'm sure your scan will go fine 😊 is this a private scan or with EPU?

Charlielechat · 02/05/2023 18:32

Good luck for tomorrow @HannahLouD and @DaisyMay25 ! Wish I was going this week! Mine isn't until next Tuesday. I have such fear that it won't have grown enough

Formaddict · 02/05/2023 18:33

I am getting so frustrated. I’m 8 weeks and haven’t heard back from my midwife yet. Despite calling several times and doing the online form twice. I am worried they will be this unorganised the whole way through…

HannahLouD · 02/05/2023 18:37

@DaisyMay25 I bet you do... I'm so sorry that happened to you :( I'm glad you're having a scan to hopefully put your mind at some rest! Wishing you lots of luck! 🤞🤍
Mine's at the EPU, purely for reasurrance, not because they were worried after my first scan. They were so kind to me it was lovely.

@Charlielechat thank you!! Will obviously update you all afterwards be it good or bad news. I have the exact same fear as you... I was measuring 6+2 exactly 2 weeks ago so by that I should be measuring 8+3 tomorrow. I'm absolutely terrified it won't have grown the full 15 days, or at all. Seems like mmcs are so much more common than I ever imagined so I'm terrified.
I hope time flies for you until your scan and I'm sure everything will be just fine!

I did my online form late Thursday and I have had an email today with my first appointment and been asked to download Badger notes.
I've got to wait until 1st June for my first appointment and then whenever my scan will be.
My first baby was born during COVID so I didn't see anybody until my first scan. Try not to worry. I know you just want it sorted, but I am sure they are just dealing with the bank holiday backlog. Xx
