Hi all!

I didn’t realise a second thread had opened up and thought everyone had disappeared 😂

I’m only back from honeymoon yesterday the first 5 days were lovely but I was wishing away the last 2 because the morning sickness has hit hard. Why does water now make me sick? 🙈 Very thankful of course for symptoms especially as I’d a little bit of spotting when away but I am feeling floored. Exhaustion and constant nausea is constant and I’ve little to no appetite.

Looking forward to my 8 week scan next weekend now just wondering has anyone referred themselves to the midwives but not contacted their doctor? I’m friends with the doctors receptionist so that’s why I was avoiding contacting them (I know there’s confidentiality etc. but personally I didn’t want her to know yet) - do I need to let the GP know?

Peachy3118 · 28/04/2023 10:39

Hi everyone - according to flo im due around 22nd December. This is my 3rd pregnancy after 2 MCs last year (1 MMC and 1 spontaneous) and to say I am anxious is an understatement.

Had scan this am at EPAS but they advised before they started they may not see much, could see sack and a tiny white dot, which is a pregnancy, to go back in 2 weeks to see how things have developed.

We are both so nervous due to our history but hopefully this is our chance and my wee Christmas miracle!

Giraffekitty · 28/04/2023 11:49

Hi all

Totally new to mumsnet but thought I’d join this group. 5 weeks today.. I just did the test this morning! Absolutely shattered, that’s about my only symptom.
Due 30th December - one day before my birthday!
I had a bit of pain on my right side this morning, it went away after 5 minutes, was almost more of a muscle pain but not sure.. will be speaking to the GP soon anyway, hope everything’s ok as it’s very early days.

Mummy1502 · 28/04/2023 12:06

@Smileyface32 congratulations x

Mummy1502 · 28/04/2023 12:07

Think I jinxed myself with saying not had many symptoms, quite strong nausea today, the one I really didn’t want most but knew it would come 😂 x

bringmearainbow · 28/04/2023 12:22

@GingerJanee hope you had a nice honeymoon other than the joys of early pregnancy symptoms 🙈 check with the hospital or doctors website my maternity services don't go through gp at all you self refer on the hospital website

@Peachy3118 we are due date twins ❤️

@Mummy1502 😂 eating little and often helped my nausea in the past. So far I haven't had any but I know it will arrive at some point 🙈

Mummy1502 · 28/04/2023 12:28

@bringmearainbow i think that’s the mistake I made this morning, I didn’t eat before I went out and did the food shop, have eaten now and it’s eased off, need a nap lol x

Clucket87 · 28/04/2023 12:31

I am desperate to not let anybody at work know but my mood has been like a pendulum this morning.
At one point I wanted to shout at people the next I'm doing my best not to cry!
Not good for a HR Manager Hmm
I also feel sick and am doing little and often with eating.
I also find Irn Bru and ready salted crisps help me but that could just be me lol. X

SMG1992 · 28/04/2023 13:04

Just back from my scan at epu, everything is all good and there was a lovely strong little heartbeat.
I'm measuring 6 weeks which is a little behind what I thought but they told me nothing to worry about and is normal not to be exactly what I thought.
The ladies were so lovely to me and totally understood how I had gotten myself into such a state but there is no bleeding and baby is doing well.

I feel so much more relived and can't believe I now have a due date of 22nd December - so close to Christmas!

Peachy3118 · 28/04/2023 13:09

@Clucket87 i am the same! I’m in recruitment so the need to cry/scream is normal without being pregnant 🤣
Ready Salted Pombears are normally a win but today my hormones have decided potatoes are the devil 🙈

Haha. Yes it is. Very hard because recruiting and managing people means we need patients and it is is short supply.
Oooohhhh I hadn't thought of Pombears but I will be off to get some on the way home! Xx

Mummy1502 · 28/04/2023 13:19

@SMG1992 congratulations! I’ve moved my scan to Sunday instead of Monday so my husband can come, I’m nervous as il only be 6+1 and do expect to measure a little behind as I know dates can be off in the beginning, have had a few twinges today and feeling rather poo x

SMG1992 · 28/04/2023 13:24

Aww @Mummy1502 I know how you feel, that was exactly how I was feeling yesterday and I know it's so hard not to get completely wrapped up in overanalysing.
I hope your scan goes all well on Sunday and at least then you'll get reassurance :)

Mummy1502 · 28/04/2023 13:44

@SMG1992 thankyou x

bringmearainbow · 28/04/2023 14:01

@SMG1992 glad the scan went well

Jackofallmasterofnone · 28/04/2023 14:17

@GingerJanee where I am you don't go through the GP at all, there's a separate midwife clinic who travel around to children's centres from the local hospital so you never see the GP at all. Might be worth ringing your local labour ward and asking?

DaisyMay25 · 28/04/2023 14:34

@GingerJanee I referred myself to the midwife online, no need for GP to know here

Charlielechat · 28/04/2023 14:54

Congratulations @SMG1992 brilliant news!

wannabemum38 · 28/04/2023 15:01

Oh congratulations @SMG1992 great news. Glad they were understanding too.
Must be such a weight off knowing you have a sticky one.
I've convinced myself that I'm imagining all my symptoms and there won't be anything there crazy I guess.
I find eating helps the sickness too which is weird but little and often definitely and mint humbugs are pretty good. Just had some gum after lunch and made me gag lol

Solowannabemom · 28/04/2023 15:11

wannabemum38 · 27/04/2023 17:55

@Solowannabemom ah that's amazing news congratulations what a journey! And twins how exciting for you.
I've not told anyone yet as in disbelief myself as been trying for a few years, lost 2 in two years and was told IVF was pretty much only route to a successful pregnancy. Me and DP are praying this one sticks I'm 42 so not a young un by any means so we will see what happens have a scan on Sunday.

Thanks so much.
I'm very sorry about your losses. I really hope all goes well at your scan on Sunday, I can only imagine how hard it has been the last few years.

Solowannabemom · 28/04/2023 15:16

DaisyMay25 · 27/04/2023 18:06

@Solowannabemom my little boy was from ivf, then swelling didn't subside for me until the second trimester, drinking lots of fluids help to flush it out. I remember them saying my ovaries were still swollen on my 12 weeks scan. Twins is very exciting! I secretly want twins 😂

Thanks very much @DaisyMay25
I'm drinking as much fluids as I can but I feel I will have to go into hiding for the next few weeks to keep my secret under wraps.
I guess I secretly did too if I am being honest but I was told the odds were so against even one embryo working let alone the two it's all come as a very big shock!
Thanks very much for the advice 😃

GingerJanee · 28/04/2023 15:17

@DaisyMay25 @Jackofallmasterofnone @bringmearainbow Thanks guys I think it’s the same in my area as well when I looked up maternity services there was a self referral form which I completed. Got an email response saying to contact them if I hear nothing by week 11 so hoping I get something before then 🥰

Solowannabemom · 28/04/2023 15:17

SMG1992 · 27/04/2023 18:30

Congratulations @Solowannabemom ! Twins too, such lovely news.
I get how you feel about being nervous, I had a MMC in Jan and am feeling so nervous about my scan on Monday incase it’s bad news.
only a few more days to wait atleast

@SMG1992
Thanks very much. Best wishes for your scan on Monday, I hope it goes well for you.

Rainbowdust557 · 28/04/2023 16:11

@SMG1992 so glad the scan went well. That's great news ☺️

Mummy1502 · 29/04/2023 08:39

I just filled in my pre scan questionnaire for window to womb and it’s estimated that I am 6+4 instead of 6 coz I only have a 24 day cycle, didn’t realise this mattered so I googled it? X
