@rankin21 from previous experience if you have a scan before 8 weeks it will likely be an internal one doenst hurt but they get a clearer picture. I had it done at 7 weeks roughly last time. I waited an extra week this time at 8 weeks and they have said to go with a full bladder and will try an ordinary ultrasound first and then if they can't see much then have an internal. I don't know how much I should drink before hand though.
I use a company called window to the womb who were really nice to me as the news last time wasn't what I was hoping for. Always good to do your research though.

Ohh thank you so much for that!
I had to have quiet a few internal ones with the nhs last time to confirm the mmc.

Yess there's a couple local to us I've been looking at but think I'll wait till 8 weeks hopefully get away without an internal one this baby is making he hungryyyy so hopefully it's beefed up enough to see 😂😂😂😂

@Mushroo I've booked a private NIPT for 10th May. My results with my son were 1/390 for downs which is classed as low so the NHS don't offer any further tests, but that felt quite high for me and I was really anxious about it. I didn't get the results that time till 17weeks due to waiting for the NHS results, then booking Nipt then waiting for Nipt results and it was torture. My results are bound to have higher odds this time as I'm nearly 4 years older so want to get them done asap. Also you get the option to find out the sex which I'm keen to do.

Thank you for sharing - yes that’s what I was thinking about avoiding weeks passing before getting a final answer. Think I’ll go ahead.

@Solowannabemom amazing news!

EmW102 · 27/04/2023 21:02

@rankin21
I had a scan at 7+4 this week. She tried abdominal first and although we could see something it wasn't very clear and she recommended trying internally if I wanted. It was totally fine, not uncomfortable at all and we could see it much more clearly including the heartbeat.

Pitstop1986 · 27/04/2023 21:14

I've caved and booked a scan for 8 weeks

@Solowannabemom congratulations and welcome to the group!

Justanothercyster · 27/04/2023 21:17

@Solowannabemom congrats lovely, twins! Amazing. I really hope everything goes well for you x

@rankin21 I've got one booked for 8th May, I'll be around 8 weeks but hoping the scan will give me more clarity!
I had one with my little girl at 7+1 weeks and it wasn't internal, just normal and they saw her fine

SMG1992 · 27/04/2023 21:22

I’ve had to book a scan at epu tomorrow as am having a panic this evening
move had a weird pain in the right side on and off for a week and have had bits of brown in my discharge

i was meant to have a private scan on Monday but given my history epu will see me tomorrow at midday

I feel so sick with nerves, I really hope nothing is wrong but am feeling bad about the whole thing and have completely worked myself up.

bringmearainbow · 27/04/2023 21:22

@Charlielechat it was def a shock I think more so because we already had our son with no problems it never even occurred to me it might happen. I have another scan on Wednesday. The EPU have been very good about monitoring me this time round and hcg is going up nicely so hopefully this is it 🤞🏼

Clucket87 · 27/04/2023 21:51

Hi All.
Found out on Tuesday and already done 4 tests lol. Supper early (4+4) but since Tuesday the tiredness has hit me like a train!
I have a 2 year old who loves to climb all over me so any suggestions to try and calm that down would be appreciated.
X

OnNaturesCourse · 27/04/2023 22:04

Lie on the sofa and play doctors... You get to lie down while they run after you 😂

99SR · 27/04/2023 22:31

@rankin21 I know I defo want an early scan but not sure when. My MMC was picked up at a 9+2 early scan last year. But the thought of going in and them trying on my belly then saying they need to do an internal one gives me the fear. I think I’m just going to be triggered regardless. I’m 6+3 now. Defo going to wait Atleast another week.

Charlielechat · 27/04/2023 22:43

Hope everything goes ok tomorrow @SMG1992 it could be just normal early pregnancy spotting x

rankin21 · 27/04/2023 19:36

Congratulations @Solowannabemom so happy for you 🥳🥳

When is everyone thinking (or not) booking early reassurance scans? I'm really nervous after my previous mmc but my husband is thinking of us having on at about the 8week mark. Which would be a week on Monday 🫣

Does anyone know how private scans work are they on your belly or internal? I'm not sure how it all works in a non nhs setting is there anything I should be checking when trying to find somewhere to book. The one I'm looking at currently says all the sonographers are registered but feels a bit of minefield 😩

I had one today because I'd convinced myself it was bad news (it's not it's fine) at 8+3.
Definitely fine on abdominal and really clear with a not extremely full bladder.

I've had 2 experiences in previous pregnancies.
When I had my missed miscarriage the nhs refused to take the results of my private scan which said they had seen a heartbeat 2 weeks previously so they wanted me to be scanned 2 weeks apart. Absolutely traumatic and thankfully I miscarried in between.

Alternatively with my son, they identified a problem with his kidneys which hadn't been seen on nhs scan and I was referred straight to fetal medicine for review.

Formaddict · 27/04/2023 23:31

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow. I hope you’re ok @SMG1992

Smileyface32 · 28/04/2023 05:46

Here’s me thinking everyone had stopped posting on the last group. I’m 8+4 today and suffering from insomnia so have caught up on some of the messages.
Like a lot of you I’m a nervous wreck after having a MMC at 8 weeks previously. I also have a UTI so feeling uncomfortable and thinking it’s going to be like last time (I also had a UTI around the same time) @SMG1992 hope your scan goes well.x

Mummy1502 · 28/04/2023 06:51

@SMG1992 good luck today x

Mummy1502 · 28/04/2023 06:53

@Smileyface32 i also have the same worries as you, I’ve just had a uti, been on antibiotics and have the same fear it’s effected little one, I have a private scan booked for Monday, I’m struggling to work out if I feel pregnant or not, my boobs are still sore and im so tired, little bit of nausea here and there but nothing much really, I’m only 5+6 so I know it’s still early but doesn’t help the worrying regardless x

bringmearainbow · 28/04/2023 06:59

@SMG1992 good luck today!

SMG1992 · 28/04/2023 07:19

Thanks for the luck all
scan is at midday - I’m feeling a bit calmer this morning but am glad I got booked in so quickly

DaisyMay25 · 28/04/2023 07:29

@SMG1992 best of look today, brown blood is old blood so hopefully everything is fine 🤞🏻

I've had more internal scans then I can count and I have no issues with them at all. A tiny bit uncomfortable but perfectly fine.
I still don't know if I'll have an early scan

smldnlove · 28/04/2023 08:37

So… wish me luck! Off on my hen do to France today for a few days with 15 friends! 14 who don’t know I’m pregnant! Currently 6+3

Any tips or wise words welcome, I feel very nervous and unsure!! Hoping to get away with alcohol free alcohol and keeping my drink topped up at all times but will probably be impossible!!

God help me! 😩😂

Smileyface32 · 28/04/2023 10:00

I didn’t mention earlier but I’ve just had a scan at EPU and saw the heart beating. Such a relief to see that after last time. A little part of me can relax after seeing that 😊

Justanothercyster · 28/04/2023 10:02

Nausea in full force these last few days 🤢 I feel so awful, I really hate the first trimester!! For many reasons. Also every time I open the fridge I gag... not fun! Producing so much colostrum as well, I really want to start collecting it but super early.

@SMG1992 hope everything is ok, thinking of you today x

@Clucket87 I have the same issue re toddler 😣 I worry about lifting her all the time but I'm sure it'll be ok. Perhaps just teach them that the belly area is very sensitive, regardless of pregnancy or not it hurts anyway

@smldnlove good luck! Just try to have as much fun as possible x

Justanothercyster · 28/04/2023 10:02

@Smileyface32 amazing!

MomentOhm · 28/04/2023 10:11
