Can’t seem to stand drinking water at the moment. It tastes awful for me, not sure how I’m going to drink 1.5l before my scan on Thursday. For some reason I can only drink milk, and I used to hate milk!

I had a 9am scan and had to take a first morning urine sample in with me. Just had to get up, get the sample, then just drink as much as I could as often as I could while trying not to throw all of it back up 🙈😂. Managed a pint and a half before I left and was enough to do everything transabdominally at 7+2. Just give it your best shot! I couldn't do water but squash was ok.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 16/04/2023 19:58

@BabyBabyBaby123 that is mad! Here we have to just get in contact with a midwife (via docs) and you get an appointment at around 8 weeks. Mine is this week.

However even then I had to phone about 6 or 7 numbers before I got an actual midwife (each person kept giving me a different number) some were just ringing out and one was a number of just a random person! That was a number given to my by the hospital.

It definitely seemed better organized when I had my first 3 years ago. Hope you manage to get through to someone with some sense x

10 weeks tomorrow and my nausea seems to be easing, hope it doesn't mean anything wrong, had scan on Friday and all was OK with baby a. I'm eating better so hoping it's to do with that, it's a constant worry everything, happy that at scan at 9w+4 everything looked fine but still very worried something will go wrong. @TMI2000 congratulations on a great scan, it really makes you relax, hope you can enjoy now until next one x

@38andtrying I am about a week ahead of you and my sickness has been considerably better the last week. I was throwing up about ten times a time and today I’ve only thrown up once and managed a day out with DD which even a week ago would’ve been out of the question. I’ve done a lot of googling out of worry too and it sounds like 10/11 weeks isn’t unreasonable for morning sickness to subside.

38andtrying · 16/04/2023 20:05

@Mummypig23 that's reassuring to hear, terrible worry, sickness was my wee friend lol 😆

LilmissCa · 16/04/2023 20:06

I have my booking appt tomo at 9wks.. not had scan date yet. Planning on asking tomo about an idea of it.

@Psqueak87 I wouldn't worry too much about the water before the scan. Milk will do too. But my last pregnancy I could barely drink at that stage & scan was fine. I say I'd had 200-300ml max that day. Just explain your sick

BabyBabyBaby123 · 16/04/2023 20:14

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 I think my next line of attack is to actually go into the doctor and speak to a receptionist face to face. It’s just a nightmare trying to get there around work with 2 DC!

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 16/04/2023 20:22

@BabyBabyBaby123 I can imagine! Fingers crossed let us know how you get on x

MooseWL · 16/04/2023 20:37

@BabyBabyBaby123 I'd definitely get back in touch with your GP. Tell them the NHS guidelines say first appt should be before 10 weeks https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/
@38andtrying my nausea has also been considerably better since 10 weeks. I'm 11+2 today and it's the first day I've not thrown up in about 5 weeks. It's easy to worry but I'm also hoping it means I've turned a corner with the sickness!

@Psqueak87 I just drank 500ml within the 45 mins before my scan at 9 weeks and that was fine. A litre and a half is defo excessive!

@Stillhoping1990 that's a good question about too many scans. I'm under a private recurrent miscarriage clinic and having lots of scans (all part of the protocol, I've not asked for extra). On Friday I'm having a quick one (just to check all ok before they give me a drug infusion), then the following Thursday a 1hr in depth scan to check for abnormalities, then the day after I happen to have my nhs 12 week scan, so 3 scans in 8 days! I did try and move my nhs one but they wouldn't.

Hi Ladies! Glad I found thread 3 as was wondering why the other had gone quiet haha!

Have my scan and panorama test this morning so hoping to see baby again which would ease anxiety as am at 10+1 today according to my new due date.Anyone else getting nipt test?

Mrsrobinsonx · 17/04/2023 07:05

hey, just checking in on the new thread.
I had my 1st midwife appt about 8 weeks for those asking and she took bloods. They got back to me within a few days of me registering with them, it’s also my 3rd baby.

I also told my best friends this weekend as I’m now 9 weeks and turns out one of them is pregnant too! 2 babies joining our gang in November 👶🏼

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 17/04/2023 07:56

@Mrsrobinsonx that is such a nice surprise for you both! Great to have a buddy with you through this!

JJ2023 · 17/04/2023 08:07

Hiya just commenting so I get the notifications for the new thread 😊

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 17/04/2023 08:42

@ExcitedandNervousC1 I am going to get the NIPT test. I am 8 + 1 now so will be about 2 weeks before I can get it x

TMI2000 · 17/04/2023 09:19

Thank you @vix_85 and @38andtrying it really has eased my mind a lot. I'm officially 9 weeks today so feeling so positive and decided to tell close family!

I called my midwife at 6 weeks, got my booking appointment last thursday at 8weeks odd and have a bloods etc appointment tomorrow afternoon so 10 weeks really is ridiculous! @BabyBabyBaby123 Definitely get on their case.
Sickness has been so on and off for me depending on the day, my main symptoms everyday have been tiredness all day and sore boobs. Nearly overslept this morning!!

Travellingislife · 17/04/2023 09:24

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2
@ExcitedandNervousC1
I’m getting the NIPT on Wed, super nervous! I’ll be 11+2 ish. I was recommended to wait until 11 weeks as there might not be enough fetal dna at 10 weeks and you might get a failed test or an inconclusive one. It happened to one of the ladies on here I seem to remember.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 17/04/2023 09:36

@Travellingislife thanks for letting me know. I was going to book in for when I would be 10.5 ish weeks by my original date but an early scan moved me on a few days so I will be around 11 by that date. The lady at the scan place mentioned that to me when I asked about it after my early scan. Are you guys having it because your older as well if you don't mind me asking? X

Hopewishprayer · 17/04/2023 09:57

Hey, hope you don’t mind me joining, I am 7+4 and this is from IVF. 5 rounds of ivf and one previous pregnancy (mmc) so my anxiety is through the roof!
however, I went for an early scan at the weekend and everything is looking perfect.
Finally called the local midewide to register today!
hope everyone is well and looking forward to being in this journey with you x

After 107 attempts and 30 minutes on hold I managed to get through to my gp this morning to request antisickness meds. Super lovely doc called back within 30 minutes and also wanted me to pop in so he could do a urine dip etc. Doesn't seem too concerned but wants me to monitor urine ketones at home and get in touch if it gets worse. Also super glad he actually listened to me about what meds to prescribe as I've had nausea issues for yeeeeeears so know that what they would prescribe as first line choice doesn't work for me. I just keep telling myself that sickness is a good sign for baby, but it's really tough trying to stay positive when you feel so awful and can barely eat or drink... ah well.

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 17/04/2023 13:38

Hi all, had the test today. Panorama can be done from 9 weeks and measuring at 10+1 today so hopefully they have enough for the test!

Got to see the baby again on the scan kicking away with heart rate of 170 so it's starting to feel real! Results from test are due back in under 2 weeks they said

thecatsthecats · 17/04/2023 13:44

I'm 12:3, and I swear to god I just felt wriggles in my belly.

I've been sitting hunched up, so maybe I'm cramping its style!

Read a dozen sources, some say possible, some say just gas, but I've never felt gas feel remotely like that.

Skyla01 · 17/04/2023 13:44

@anna2101 last time round I lost a kg or two in the first trimester with nausea etc. But once I felt better in the second trimester I really put weight on quickly - a kg a week for a good number of weeks! Was quite fascinating to see how much energy my body was hoarding. So I think you can make up the weight later on.

@Travellingislife I think different places do the blood tests at different times. So people have them all at 12 weeks with the scan. I missed my booking appointment (I was ill), so getting my bloods tomorrow instead when I'll be 10+2.

Psqueak87 · 17/04/2023 14:26

@MooseWL I’m gonna go to the British shop today to see if I can find some squash (they don’t sell squash at normal shops here). I’ve had two scans so far, the first one I followed directions and drank 1.5 litres and I was in literal pain I needed to pee so bad, the ultrasound tech even seemed shocked at the fullness of my bladder. She told me I could go let a little out, lol.
then the second scan I drank about 750ml and the tech was pressing super hard and saying I obviously hadn’t followed directions on the amount of water to drink cause my bladder was empty! Can’t win! I’ll go with a litre this time and see how they like it.

Its usually more about when you drink it! I was told by an anaesthetist once the half life of water in your stomach is 20 mins. So if you drink it 40 mins before - 25% of it hasn't even made it out your stomach yet and it takes a while longer to get into your bladder! 750mL 60-90 mins ahead of the appointment will make your bladder more full than 1.5L 30 min before.
