Hello all. Here is a fresh thread to fill up with lots of chitchat and milestones. So sorry if I’ve missed anyone out or got the EDD wrong. I tried to look back through but there were so many messages 😅 I’m sure I must’ve missed some people out. Many apologies, it wasn’t intentional. Sending hugs to all. 🥰🌈👶🏻🤰🏻

How is everyone?

Does anyone have any miracle cures for headaches/migraines? I suffer quite regularly, pre pregnancy as well as during. Usually migraleve and a sleep shifts them but obviously can’t take migraleve whilst pregnant. Paracetamol is not touching them and I’ve had this headache since Thursday, with periods where it’s more of a migraine 😩😭

That's really challanging, I'm finding the old hot water bottle is very helpful with neck pain at the minute. Basically I just let it cool down a bit and then rest my head & neck on it it really does help for me. I think mine is more like a tension/ stress headache though so appreciate this might not work for migraines...

Houseelf90 · 26/04/2023 09:26

Thank you @Bizzybee900 - I did try a hot water bottle on my neck and that did work, so I probably need to do that again! It’s such a pain being so limited on meds but I’d rather keep bambino safe!

Tinkerbell098 · 26/04/2023 14:15

@Houseelf90 I had some headaches a couple of weeks ago, and I'm sorry I have no tips, all I did was sleep when I had them, it was awful!

Good luck to everyone having scans this week. I've got mine tomorrow - Wish me luck!

HopefulBee · 26/04/2023 15:36

@Houseelf90 I also have no tips but hope you feel better soon. And make sure you keep an eye on your blood pressure maybe. Was recently reminded that bad headaches with dizziness may be a sign of high blood pressure (usually a problem later in pregnancy). Probably just migraines for you if you have them regularly but just putting it out there.

HopefulBee · 26/04/2023 15:38

Had my 20 week echo today - everything looked good and baby girl was moving happily. Was so nice to see her for so long and in so much detail. Still felt that it was over way too soon. But am on cloud 9 about the positive outcome and seeing her bounce around in there. 🥰🥰 Am starting to feel her more now too, despite my anterior placenta. It’s so nice.

@Tinkerbell098 Good luck for your scan tomorrow! 🤞🏼🤞🏼 hope it all goes well and baby let’s you get a good look. ❤️

Houseelf90 · 26/04/2023 17:20

Thank you @Tinkerbell098, I hope your scan goes well 🥰

@HopefulBee BP was checked Friday and is fine but I’ll definitely keep an eye on it - I’ve got a BP monitor already as I’ve previously suffered with low BP!
I’m glad you had a good scan and baby was moving around lots for you!! Mines 2 weeks today and it seems forever to wait!

Skw11 · 26/04/2023 22:09

Congratulations on the scan @HopefulBee and good luck @Tinkerbell098 for yours! Mine is Friday and I'm looking forward to it so much more than I was the 12 week one, just crossing everything that it'll be OK but not completely overwhelmed with anxiety and sadness/dread like I was in the first tri. Afraid no headache tips from me @Houseelf90 but feel your pain on lack of meds, I found out antihistamines are a bit of a "avoid as much as possible" so I'm dreading insect bite season! Will be smelling like insect repellant all summer 🤣

Houseelf90 · 26/04/2023 22:23

@Skw11 good luck for your scan! Oh don’t even talk to me about antihistamines 🙈 I suffer with hayfever all year round but it’s already ramping up, I really need to do some research and see if there’s anything I can take!

Been there too! Re tablets midwife said cetirizine is 'apparently' the safest option in pregnancy. But personally Iv not taking it yet as prefer not to for now. The Becodefence Allergy Defence Nasal Spray says safe in pregnancy on the packaging so presumably is safe.... But yes ask an actual health care proffesional (:

kl1999 · 27/04/2023 09:43

@Houseelf90 Sorry to hear about your horrible headaches. I don't have any recommendations on remedies unfortunately! All I did was sleep them off whenever I could. Really hope they start to die down for you soon xx

@Tinkerbell098 Good luck with your scan today my lovely 💕

@HopefulBee Ahhh lovely news about your scan! So lovely that your feeling her move too! So exciting!❤🌷

@Skw11 Good luck with your scan tomorrow! ❤

Houseelf90 · 27/04/2023 09:55

@Bizzybee900 ahh that’s interesting about certrizine, as that’s what I usually take alongside nasal sprays. I’ll check with the midwife next time I see her but I don’t want to risk anything that’s not safe. I’ll have a read up about the becodefence spray, thank you!!

@kl1999 thank you!! Roughly 22 more weeks to go and then I can take migraleve 😂

kl1999 · 27/04/2023 10:42

@Houseelf90 The countdown is on! 😅🤞❤

Have all of you been able to feel baby move yet?? I'll be 19wks on Sat and I don't believe I have felt him yet. I am a FTM, so what may be an odd twinge here or a little feeling there, could be him and I just don't realise. I was told I have a posterior placenta. I may just be worrying and over thinking about nothing - but just wondered how it's been for the rest of you - thanks in advance ladies xxx

Astar21 · 27/04/2023 11:33

@Houseelf90 I suffer with terrible hayfever too and I bought some eye gel masks from Amazon that you put in the fridge. Put them cold over your eyes and relax. Apparently they're helpful for migraines/headaches too. So could be worth a try?
@Bizzybee900 I asked my consultant about hayfever medication at my last appointment and she said some are supposed to be okay but she advised me to avoid them completely if possible 😬

@HopefulBee lovely to hear about your scan ✨❤️

@kl1999 I've got an anterior placenta. I think I've felt a few tiny twinges but they're barely anything tbh. I can't wait to start feeling them properly. A few of my friends have said they didn't feel anything til at least 20 weeks so I wouldn't worry.

log51 · 27/04/2023 11:51

@kl1999 we're due date buddies and I'm FTM too and I haven't felt any movement whatsoever I don't think! She couldn't tell me where my placenta was in 12 week scan, so not worried about it at all - will ask in scan next Sat

HopefulBee · 27/04/2023 12:45

@kl1999 A friend that gave birth to her first last month told me the other day she didn’t feel him until 22 weeks despite also having a posterior placenta. It really seems to vary quite a lot per person. So don’t worry, in all likelihood your little one is swimming around and kicking happily and you will feel him soon!

Tinkerbell098 · 27/04/2023 13:46

Hi girls. Thanks for the wishes. I’ve had my 20w scan today and it’s a girl 💖 so exciting!

@kl1999 ive barely felt baby too and I’ve got a posterior placenta so don’t worry too much. I’m 20+ now and baby was moving about so much when we had the scan so I was really surprised I don’t feel anything yet. I’m also a FTM so that plays a big part in recognising the movements.

Astar21 · 27/04/2023 17:10

@Tinkerbell098 congratulations 💖💝 lovely news!

Houseelf90 · 27/04/2023 19:07

@Astar21 ahh amazing!! My partners daughter has one here which I did freeze (not for long so wasn’t frozen) and put on my forehead the other week 😂 but I feel that could be a regular thing in the summer both over my eyes and on my forehead! Thank you!

@Tinkerbell098 another baby girl on the thread!!!
Although we’re not finding out I (stupidly) researched about the skull theory and although I know it can’t be accurate, that pointed towards ours being a girl too!

Goneaboutthiswrong · 27/04/2023 19:31

Hey everyone! Thanks for the info on hayfever tablets, I was totally unaware. Congrats to everyone on their scans and finding out baby’s sex this week - so exciting!
I had my 20wk scan today (at 21wks) and everything went well, baby was moving around ALOT! I have managed to feel some movement in the past week more so. But baby defo moves more than what I feel from the scan lol
I wanted the sono to write the sex on paper as I had a friend making a cake for me and DP for Monday for a mini reveal, but she told me she could only TELL one of us as it’s not 100% 🙄 so now he knows and I find out on Monday!!!! I don’t know how I’m going to survive the weekend

Houseelf90 · 27/04/2023 22:39

@Goneaboutthiswrong glad your scan went well! Ahh the pressure on your DP not to let anything slip over the weekend 😬😬

Is anyone else still being sick? Mine isn’t regular but I would say maybe a couple of times a week. I’ve had my head over the loo again tonight 😩 I’m so fed up with it, even though I do feel like I’ve been lucky as apart from about 5 nights I’ve not had it consecutively or consistently, and my mum was sick every single day the whole 9 months with all 3 of her pregnancies, so I do feel grateful, but because of that I feel that mine may continue like this the whole time too 😭
I’m so ready for the “glowing” stage now!!

Bizzybee900 · 28/04/2023 08:19

Hi, congrats on 20 weeks scan @Tinkerbell098 and @Goneaboutthiswrong !@Goneaboutthiswrong

Bizzybee900 · 28/04/2023 08:25

Just wanted to ask really is anyone considering doing birthing/antenatal classes? I'm thinking of doing some as my friend& sister say they really help with pain management and decision making during labour. Anyway probably jumping the gun as Sept is while away but anyone else thought about this?

HopefulBee · 28/04/2023 09:30

@Tinkerbell098 Congratulations! What lovely news 💖. @Goneaboutthiswrong congrats on the good scan and how exciting that you have your gender reveal after the weekend. You can spend the whole weekend in happy anticipation - that’s also nice. 🥰

@Houseelf90 I am so sorry you’re still feeling yucky, that must be so exhausting and annoying. I don’t have any advice but certainly hope it subsides soon. 🤞🏼

@Skw11 Good luck today, hope all goes well!

HopefulBee · 28/04/2023 09:32

@Bizzybee900 I would definitely recommend doing a course, so that when the time comes and you are dealing with contractions, the excitement of baby coming and all the other birth related stuff you are at least a bit prepared for what to expect. I think otherwise people can panic (both those in labour and their partners) easily when something unexpected happens.

Also, beyond all the useful practical information about labour and birth and also the aftermath, most decent courses also teach you a bit about relaxation, pain management and little massages etc that your partner can do.

I think the type of course is up to everyone personally, whatever you think suits you and your partner. We did a hypnobirthing course and I found it very helpful and empowering. Of course you don’t end up just breathing the contractions away with ease (at least I didn’t) but it helped me stay calm and I was even able to say no to suggestions from my midwife whilst in the middle of pushing the baby out, so I really felt the course helped me take control of my own birth experience.

Sorry long answer 🤪.
