@ChloeN I absolutely love the iCandy yellow pram But! could never justify paying for it new. The cost of all those are shocking! I always buy them 2nd hand ,but that's just me looking for value but would absolutely love the yellow one!

Spiralout · 19/04/2023 12:46

@BusyBushBaby @Amme18 @sally16 @DesertSnow @BMK thank you for all your thoughts and experiences in the GTT - that’s really helpful. I might ask at my next midwife what the other risk factor is than weight as I don’t think there are any.
good luck with yours @DesertSnow - bet you’ve been counting down the minutes!

sally16 · 19/04/2023 13:06

@Spiralout everyone in our trust gets it now! Was too many thinner women coming in unwell that turned out to be GD so couldn't say it was all weight and history related!
It's a bit annoying but not the end of the world :)

DesertSnow · 19/04/2023 15:21

@Spiralout thanks, all over now. It is a bit annoying but no more than that really, I built it up in my head to be a worse experience than it ended up being ☺️ Now just hoping the results are ok!

@sally16 I hope you get to ask all the questions that you want this time around. I wonder if the discussions for my birthing plans were brought forward because I had to be cleared for consultant observations during labour - the complications I could have necessitated going over all possible birthing options (natural, induction or c - section whether elective or emergency). This time seems easier in that regard, my community midwife even mentioned me being a good candidate for a home birth which surprised me.

@Shinea Hope you are ok and that the two weeks doesn’t drag for you.

@Spiralout Its only been recommended for me because two of my immediate family members have been diagnosed since my dd was born and they want to rule it out.

Thank you to everyone for the advice on what to take and do during the hours you’re sat around for the test. I wasn’t relishing sitting around for 3 hours twiddling my thumbs 😂

@DesertSnow We got the strada too, in grey. We wanted the green one originally but got a deal on the grey and couldn’t justify spending hundreds more just for a different colour.

DesertSnow · 19/04/2023 15:55

@Rowanandremy ah same, we got the grey too though my heart wanted the green 💚 - like you we couldn't justify the cost when the grey was on a deal. It doesn't matter what colour it is when there's vomit/spit etc. on it after all 😂

Lovely to hear from you @Nic2908 . Hope being back at work is going OK and that you’re generally doing as well as can be expected. Keep us updated. xx

@Rowanandremy my DS is now just a month off three. That reminds me, I need to get his birthday cake organised… I think he is punishing me for having been so distracted these past three weeks. Yesterday I finally took him swimming for the first time though and he had a good playdate today in the park. He’s better out of the house.

AnnieApple123 · 19/04/2023 17:03

@Shinea am so sorry you’ve also had anxious news from your scan. Am here if you ever want to chat by PM. My NIPT results came back most quicker than anyone expected. I really hope this is the case for you too and that all is well. xx

AnnieApple123 · 19/04/2023 17:08

@MinnieFirstTimeMum It’s funny you should say that about having had a Silvercross pram as a little girl. I did also and the baby record book I made for DS begins with a photograph of me pushing it and ends with another of adult me pushing our real heritage one. I can’t wait to get it out of the garage again.

Shinea · 19/04/2023 17:47

Thank you all for your sweet words!!
I had got double market test at 13w which had low risk for Down syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities

However what are the chances of being it high risk at 21w with Swollen kidney and bent pinky finger!!
Any positive stories please 😭😭

AnnieApple123 · 19/04/2023 17:57

@Shinea I’m discovering that these questions are really difficult to answer unfortunately. Are you being offered genetic counselling? xx

LS888 · 19/04/2023 18:53

Hi everyone, has anyone got any advice on what you can take for thrush whilst pregnant? The one canesten product they had in Sainsburys said not to take whilst pregnant or consult your doctor. I bought a cooling gel as the itch is uncomfortable (sorry TMI!) all pharmacies closed now. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so can check with her but wanted to get something ASAP to ease it!

Rowanandremy · 19/04/2023 18:56

@DesertSnow thats funny we ended up with the same colour after wanting the green, like you said though the colour won’t matter when there’s vomit and god knows what else on it 😂

@AnnieApple123 We've found that to be such an awkward age, I know it’s easier said than done but try not to be too hard on yourself. We were pulling our hair out with dd at that age and that’s without all the stress and anxiety you are going through. Kids are far more resilient than we give them credit for and it sounds as though you’ve given your son some lovely days and memories. It’s dds 4th birthday soon and we aren’t remotely organised for it, usually we are but this year we’re behind with everything - including the cake, though dd keeps changing her mind on what cake she wants 😂

AnnieApple123 · 19/04/2023 19:53

@LS888 Sorry I don’t know about thrush. Hopefully someone else here might and/or you’ll get good advice at your appointment tomorrow.

@Rowanandremy DS has really been quite manageable up until now. For the first time ever I’m starting to question whether having a second was a bad idea. Ever since I’ve been pregnant really I’ve not been able to devote nearly as much to him as I did previously. That said, I’m sure I’d have equivalent feelings of guilt about him being an only child. You really can’t win!

@DesertSnow That appointment where they couldn’t find the heartbeat must have been horrible. I had a similar experience in my last refinance.

Re: size/centiles and gestational diabetes. As some of you may recall, DS measured huge at his 22 week scan (95th+ centile for both abdominal circumference and estimated weight) but was then born on the 25th centile (7lbs at 39 weeks). This baby currently looks to be similar and at my original scan this time (I ended up having three that week) I was advised to discuss GD screening with my consultant. She is unconcerned however, thinks this is likely just how I grow babies and says there’s no such thing really as ‘a fat baby’ at this stage as they’ve yet to start laying down fatty tissue and variation is size is relatively small. She’s not a fan of the GTT but will consider an alternative at 28 weeks involving wearing a patch for a longer period. I actually would be interested to do this if only out of curiosity.

P1pk · 19/04/2023 20:18

@LS888 I had thrush earlier. You can't get anything over the counter, you need to get a doctors appt and get a prescription. I had to use the tablet and the cream for 5days only. They are quite strict.

@JT2021 were going to order the same pram and car seat! I agree the pram just looks lovely to me!

I had my 2nd 20wk scan yesterday as they couldn't see everything first time l. All seems OK with baby but the sonographer said my placenta is low and booked me a scan at 32weeks. Has anyone experienced this? The nurse said not to worry and that this is normal and placenta isn't completely attached until later. But as usual in my head I'm getting worried. Any advice will be appreciated :)

AnnieApple123 · 19/04/2023 20:30

@P1pk I worried a lot about placenta issues as my mum had complete placenta previa with me (she’d previously had surgery though and it was thought to be related to that, so she wasn’t a typical case). If your placenta is low at this stage, you have a greater than 90% chance of it moving up by term. Even if it doesn’t, it doesn’t necessarily affect things that much. Sorry you’ve got this extra worry though.

I was meant to start a two part Hypnobirthing course on Good Friday but then didn’t as we had so much drama going on at that point. I’ve decided I need to start thinking positively though and so am now starting it this Friday instead. I haven’t thought about the birth at all so far this time (very unlike last time).

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 19/04/2023 20:30

@AnnieApple123 funny isn't it. I might actually have to dig out the old photo albums and see if there is a photo in them with me and my pram 😂

Amme18 · 19/04/2023 20:51

@P1pk I had low placenta last time, scan at 32 and 36 I think it was because it hadn’t quite fully moved by 32, but by 36 was clear ☺️ as your uterus grows it pulls it up and out the way too x

BMK · 19/04/2023 21:24

@LS888 thr best treatment for thrush or impending kidney infection is bread soda/bicarbonate of soda in a little water: like the equivalent of 3 or 4 shot glasses of water or a little more and half teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda stirred into it and drink it. Take this 3 or 4 times a day and it should be gone in 2 or 3 days and eased from probably the 2nd time taking it. Even if you rub a bit of the same into it, it helps as it's alkaline

BMK · 19/04/2023 21:28

@AnnieApple123 glad to hear !! You are also an encyclopedia of information!! You really would be the best consultant or anything detail-originated /complicated yourself!
I also need to/plan on pursuing hypnobirthing classes. And my 2nd boy is also 3 in ,well 6 weeks- but close!!

P1pk · 19/04/2023 22:55

@AnnieApple123 & @Amme18 thank you for the information and reassurance, it's so much easier asking you ladies on herr than using Google!!

@AnnieApple123 I agree with @BMK you really are an encyclopedia!! So glad to see you a bit more active on here a d I hope you are feeling better. Sending lots of hugs :) let me know how the hypnobirthing course is, I want to do one when I get further along, I've heard good things

sally16 · 20/04/2023 00:33

@LS888 I'd probably go for the natural remedies like @BMK said or natural yoghurt!

Hopefully it's not a bad case and clears fairly easily xx

overwork · 20/04/2023 07:24

I had my GDM check yesterday too, how long did they tell you all for results?
If it's negative I'd like to know before my holiday on Monday!
I didn't find it too bad but then I don't feel queasy of a morning and I have a sweet tooth anyway, so the drink wasn't too terrible for me.

overwork · 20/04/2023 07:24

Hi @Nic2908, lovely to hear from you. I hope all is as well as it can be Smile

LS888 · 20/04/2023 07:47

Thanks @BMKand @sally16 I will try the bicarbonate of soda and hopefully that helps! I took some last night before bed and it already doesn’t feel as intense this morning which is a relief!
