@EsmeSusanOgg I have flown many many many times throughout all stages of pregnancy, majority of those flights were with BA. To date, I've never once been asked for a letter from BA or any other airline confirming due date or that there are no complications. I told someone else on here the same thing, she flew and confirmed that BA also didn't bat an eyelid or ask for any sort of letter.

I'll eat my hat if they ask for anything from you

Thank heavens! It's just what they have on their website. I'm short and this is bubba 2 so I look very obviously pregnant already.

LS888 · 18/04/2023 21:54

@DesertSnow I have the badger app too. Thought more would appear after scans etc. but nothing much seems to be updated on mine. Hopefully once they start measuring I will see the chart too. Where about a does it appear on the app? I don’t find it very easy to navigate!

Mulner88 · 18/04/2023 23:07

@EsmeSusanOgg I'm flying on Thursday at 25+5. It's just a short flight but I'm bringing nothing. I'm quite obviously pregnant too as I'm short but sticking on a baggy hoodie and plan to just go as normal. I flew about a 3 hour flight at 22 -23 weeks and could see my bump but no one asked anything

DesertSnow · 18/04/2023 23:16

@LS888 yes it's not the most intuitive app, and they don't update most of the sections as far as I can tell - there's definitely a lot of blanks on mine. The grow chart appeared as a new heading under the maternity record - I've attached a pic.

@BCxx for all the time they spend measuring baby at scans etc. It does seem that none of this is very accurate (at least for a large portion of the time!)

@DesertSnow Thank you! We’re just really relieved that the school we felt best fit dd is the one that she’s gotten. We’ve been talking to some other parents with children going to the same school who have said it was a low birth year, amazing that we’ve heard that a lot recently. It does make me wonder about this year but with a guaranteed sibling spot at the school I’m far less anxious about a school placement 😂

I had my booking in appointment at my chosen hospital today. Bit of an odd situation that I had the option of two hospitals in different trusts, like last time I used the closest for the scans then immediately transferred over but that means I needed another booking in appointment. Everything is looking good and they are happy for me to be in the birthing centre. I’ve to have a phone consult to double check a medical condition I have that it won’t interfere with labour but it was admitted that it was a formality as nothing has changed with that condition in the 4 years since dd was born and I was signed off quickly back then. Just the diabetes test to have done in a few weeks because some immediates have been diagnosed as type 2 in the last 4 years - though neither my community midwife or the hospitals midwife was concerned at all.
it feels good to have gotten this part done with but a bit surreal to have been talking about my ideal birthing plan. Made it all seem very real.

Has anyone else had the birthing plan conversation with their midwives?

DesertSnow · 18/04/2023 23:52

@Rowanandremy ah that's great about the guaranteed sibling spot! I brought up my birth plan at my appointment yesterday and the midwife said it was too early but she showed me a section on Badger Notes where you can note stuff down. I'm keen to start discussing it as I have a few medical things that may be problematic in a natural labour, so I want to get a plan in place. While of course understanding it's really preferences rather than a strict plan. Exciting you've had the convo, I can imagine it feels all manner of real and surreal at the same time!

@DesertSnow it’s a relief, we have a friend who has 3 kids and they ended up in different schools which was a nightmare. Also good we won’t have the anxiety of the wait again 😂 Oh really? That’s fascinating that you were told it was too early when it’s been mentioned to me twice but I couldn’t go too in-depth until I’d had this appointment to clear me of consultant intervention. At the moment I’m waiting on the phone call but tentatively there’s a plan in place. It can be quite concerning when there’s possible medical needs that could
interfere - hopefully you get to have that discussion soon! For me, my medical conditions come into play if I require intervention so if anything they’d like for me to have a natural again (as would I!) but I’ll go over every possible outcome just in case so they know what needs to be done and it’s not a shock for me or dw. It really does! And we’ve started to discuss childcare options for dd, that feels a bit bizarre as we’re planning in case labour takes a while and we didn’t have to worry last time 😂

sally16 · 19/04/2023 02:14

@Rowanandremy I'm doing my birthing plan with consultant but she said at 35 weeks we will have a good chat with midwife's etc!
Didn't get a chance to do it last time as my consultant took over community midwife so I was upset I didn't get the chance to ask questions!

JT2021 · 19/04/2023 05:27

@EsmeSusanOgg I flew with BA a few weeks ago and had a letter ready (I’m a panicky FTM)… no one asked to see it and I’m pretty sure no one knew I was pregnant yet I definitely had a bump (wearing black is a great camouflage!) - also just flown EasyJet and again didn’t need to have anything ready for that either. I’m 24+1 for reference - I just made sure I had my pregnancy notes with me if needed. Have fun on your holiday!

Hi again everyone - have tried to catch up as been away on hols the past few weeks! So needed but now I’m home I feel I need another holiday 😁hope you’re all doing okay, DH and I are going pram shopping today! The first time we are properly looking, has anyone bought their pram yet? I’ve not done much research as I want to see what it all feels like etc… any recommendations on good reliable prams please? Going to look at car seats too but I know I need to do more research on that one. It all feels quite real now!

DH also felt baby boy kick for the first time a couple of nights ago which was really special 💙

ChloeN · 19/04/2023 05:36

@JT2021 Ive ordered my pram and car seat, went for the icandy peach 7 and cybex cloud z2 car seat, they’ve both got good reviews but the pram I just loved the look of🤣

I thought I’d got lucky and would be able to keep sleeping through the night but the last week or so I’ve woken up about 20 times🥲 I’m sure I’m not alone I just can’t get comfy 🤣

JT2021 · 19/04/2023 05:58

Thanks @ChloeN - have heard good things about the Cybex car seat and I know they have it at the showroom place so will definitely have a good look at that one!

I'm the same as you, waking up what feels like every 10 minutes yet my Apple Watch tells me I’m getting a great night sleep every night?! I’m getting bad hips at night again so tossing and turning a lot. Woken up at 4.30am with the dog being sick so gonna be a tiring day today!

Mulner88 · 19/04/2023 07:23

@ChloeN yep me too! I thought sleep wouldn't be an issue for me as I'm a great sleeper usually but the past 3 nights I've woken up so much twisting and turning and trying to get comfortable

Shinea · 19/04/2023 07:23

Hello everyone,
I had 20w scan today everything looks normal except for Bent Finger and RPD(urine block in kidney) which is soft marker for Down syndrome 😭😭
Given blood for NIPT which results will be coming after 2 weeks!!!

Fingers crossed 🤞🤞

Spiralout · 19/04/2023 07:34

I flew on a domestic UK flight at the weekend (24 weeks) - the bump can be hidden quite well so I actually wore a baby on board badge as I didn’t want to be judged for getting the lifts, asking for help with my carry on bag and generally being slow. I had a bit of a hormonal melt down as the plane was 3 hours delayed and I missed part of my friend’s hen do 😭 but the flight itself was fine. Baby kicked a lot through take off and landing.

Spiralout · 19/04/2023 07:37

I see a few ladies here are due for the glucose test - has anyone had one before? I am booked in for one but really dreading it. I get light headed now if I don’t eat first thing and the thought of the sugary drink is making me feel nauseous!
The test has been booked as BMI is 33 although I’ve been following all the guidance on overweight pregnancy and only put on 6lbs to date (24+5 today), blood pressure all fine, all urine dip tests have been fine. Is the test really needed?

marleyandme · 19/04/2023 08:12

@JT2021 have fun pram shopping today! We're going in a few weeks and I can't wait, although I'm indecisive so will probably come away more flustered than anything 😂
It's so lovely when partners can feel the kicks too isn't it!

I bought a mattress topper yesterday and last night was the first night in weeks that I didn't wake up with hip pain or feel like I had to keep rolling over in the night to get comfy, it was amazing. I hope it's not a fluke and continues being comfy!

BusyBushBaby · 19/04/2023 08:30

@Spiralout I had my glucose tolerance test on Monday. It wasn't super fun - the drink doesn't taste good and I felt a bit yuck after drinking it. The good part is you get to sit down doing nothing for 2 hours - I took my kindle and a couple of books and got quite a lot of reading done! They like you to do it if you have 1 or more risk factors for gestational diabetes, I was asked to take one because I had a big baby before (even though I didn't have gestational diabetes).

Amme18 · 19/04/2023 09:09

@Spiralout had one with last baby as dad has diabetes and BMI over 30, this time BMI 35 🫣 although same as you I’ve put on 7lb so far I think at 24+5.
The test isn’t intrusive in any way, booked it for 8am so can’t eat after midnight which is fine, go have a set of bloods, drink a not very pleasant drink, wait 2 hours and then have bloods repeated. As above I took a book and had a fully charged phone! Although this time the consultant has booked me a growth scan too so that will kill a bit of time inbetween!!

@Shinea hope you’re okay! Try and distract yourself until the results are in xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 19/04/2023 09:14

@ChloeN I also got my pram based on the way it looked 😂 Over Easter there was a sale on silver cross so I got the travel bundle.
I also had a toy silvercross pram as a little girl so I felt like it was meant to be 😂

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 19/04/2023 09:15

@Shinea so worrying for you, fingers crossed all is okay x

sally16 · 19/04/2023 09:48

@Spiralout I had it last time and it was actually ok.. fasted all night, had bloods, had the drink (it just tasted like a Capri sun) and then sat about for hours and then more bloods! Bring a snack for after they give you the green light to leave! But it's not bad! Just boring!

ChloeN · 19/04/2023 10:32

@MinnieFirstTimeMum little girl you knew you’d be getting that pram one day🤣

BMK · 19/04/2023 10:35

@Spiralout I declined this glucose test as I am not a fan of having blood taken and also sonographer who did my scan said that fat or extra weight around baby's abdomen would be a marker for perhaps having it but no sign of that and urine glucose all fine,so not necessary.

Midwife only wanting me to do it as over 35 and previous baby heavy (not fat, just long /tall and skinny) but it's up to you . I think they just like to recommend everything to you.

I also declined all vaccines or anything not absolutely necessary. I just take the most natural approach

DesertSnow · 19/04/2023 10:36

@Shinea That sounds so worrying for you, hope everything is ok.

@JT2021 we got the Strada pram (M&P's own brand) - it's lightweight and good for the city. Then the cybex aton b isize, which fits onto it.

@ChloeN ah sleep is so uncomfortable isn't it? With DH being away I was hopeful that having more space would make it easier but nope, turns out it's still hard!

@Spiralout I'm at the hospital now having the glucose test, hour to go. My mum has diabetes so they wanted me to have the test. Fasting wasn't so fun - I tried to get up as close to having to leave for the hospital as possible so I wouldn't realise I'm hungry. The drink wasn't actually as bad as I was expecting, was like very diluted apple juice for me. It's just a bit boring waiting around, so make sure you bring a book or something. The lady next to me is snoring away 😂
