Glad you are back @AnnieApple123 and feeling more positive 🥰

CityKity · 11/04/2023 15:26

@AnnieApple123 so glad to have you back and sounding well! Totally understandable needing some time
off this board.

@DesertSnow I’d be feeling a bit blue if DH was away for the next 4 weeks too. I know I’ve been relying on DH to do most of the cookings/shopping and he’s giving me a wide berth to be lazy which I’ve probably got far too used too. Also I realise no one is that interested in my pregnancy aside from him! Can you have friends/family stay over and keep you company/distracted? My friends DH is away next week and she’s going through a tough time so I’m going to stay with her for a few days to try and keep her busy?? Always worth asking as people might not assume you might be lonely!

sally16 · 11/04/2023 15:55

I raged cleaned the house today..
DS was being so naughty and destructive so managed to get him into nursery for the afternoon and I've shouted at DP and cleaned all afternoon.
Now I'm sore and stinking of bleach but finally feel at peace..

I feel more annoyed I'm gonna have to make a chore chart so he will actually help me! I didn't do anything for 2 days and the house was so bad!!

CityKity · 11/04/2023 16:00

Weird question - but what happens between now and the 36 week scan in terms of checking baby is growing okay?

I made the mistake of scrolling Instagram for the hashtag #24 weeks and have now worried myself that my bump is too small (even though it’s definitely popped in my opinion). Back at work today and now that I’ve announced it, I’ve had some shocked comments that I’m not looking that pregnant and people assuming Ive just had my 12 week scan.
I know all bumps are different and even the way people carry varies, but are there actually any checks the midwife tend to do to check that the baby is growing as it should? I’ve really wound myself into a tizz over this.

Marmaladebear · 11/04/2023 16:22

@AnnieApple123 welcome back!! So lovely to see you again, sounds like you're doing exactly what you need to. Glad you also got some time away.💕

@sally16 omg making a chore chart would annoy me too!! Wtf! There are women at my work who basically gloat about having to do everything for their husbands I think it's "malicious incompetence" (when I heard this phrase for the first time I loved it because it sums up how I feel about people pretending not to know about hoovering or laundry etc!)

@CityKity all bumps are different, they tend to measure you at midwife appointments and if you measure small you might be offered a growth scan. People don't really know what they're talking about tbh - people would say my bump was small too but when I got measured I would be 90th percentile so I'm not sure how big they expected me to be!!

The female manager I mentioned ages ago seems intent on causing me stress for my remaining weeks of work 🤬 I'm trying to distance myself from her now because I literally lose sleep when she says inappropriate things to me but she's started texting me a lot now and I don't think it's necessary good workplace etiquette for me to block her 😅

Her latest thing is wanting to lie to a client and say I'm coming off the team because I'm pregnant rather than the truth which is that I have a huge conflict with another client that I've had for 6 years. I have said I don't like her internally and externally framing my maternity leave like that... Had to spell it out to her. I all but said that what she was saying was basically illegal but she doesn't understand and just reworded it to say basically the same thing. I get that they might not want to flag that conflict of interest but she could say something about managing my client portfolio/capacity rather than basically saying she wants to do a bit of pregnancy discrimination

sally16 · 11/04/2023 17:52

@Marmaladebear my go too saying is 'weaponised incompetence' when they say 'but you do it better'

Yes.. because I have too!!

Marmaladebear · 11/04/2023 20:49

@sally16 I like that phrase too!!

ChloeN · 11/04/2023 21:00

@CityKity where I live they don’t even offer the 36 week scan🙄 I’ve got a scan booked in at 27+4 so be nice to see how much they grown then! As others have said I think they start checking the bump from the next midwife appintment!

Amme18 · 11/04/2023 21:07

@ChloeN its 12 and 20 week scans as standard here! Although I’m getting an extra one when I get my glucose tolerance test, they’ve discussed a few extra at the end for growth because of a thyroid issue but it’s looking like it’s nothing to worry about so might not now!

ChloeN · 11/04/2023 21:23

@Amme18 its annoying how some places are so different than others! always nice to get an extra couple of scans though!

Createcomet · 12/04/2023 08:09

Just catching up on the new thread....Glad everyone's doing okay and great to hear @AnnieApple123 that you're feeling positive about things and all is going well with your medical care. Please take care of yourself!

@newmummie Can definitely relate to lots of the conversations going on at the moment, especially re exhaustion! I know I've mentioned it before but I honestly can't believe how tired I am this time round. And also just occasionally feeling really 'off' with the hormones. Like yesterday, I sat in my office all day, had loads to do, worked through it all but still just felt bored out of my mind 🤣🤦‍♀️ Then came home, finished an order for a client for 20 minutes, parcelled it up with some other stuff, half tidied up after dinner and then got a migraine. And that was WITH the help of my Husband who put our son to bed and bathed him, and also drove us all home from work. I now have a migraine, have got to go to the post office with a load of parcels, then be at the hospital at 10am for a scan on Baby's heart, then drive half an hour to work 🤦‍♀️ I'm only in the office 2 days a week, I'm trying to keep my creative business active along side it (not sure how much I'm managing that 🤣) and I know I now own the company, but I still can't believe how tired I am, it's so debilitating this time! Just keep telling myself that it's not forever.

@citykityIf your female colleague is genuinely going to use pregnancy as an excuse for you coming off the team, she might want to consider how pregnancy discrimination is going to look to her clients 🤦‍♀️ I'm sorry you're having to go through that! Something about your client portfolio/capacity would surely be far more appropriate!

BCxx · 12/04/2023 08:47

@CityKity I found last time I really popped just after that point. I have a picture from 23 weeks in my phone where I’m wearing gym leggings and it’s the tiniest little bump. Then I have one from 26 weeks and I suddenly look full on heavily pregnant. I went for my 28 week midwife appointment though and it was first thing in the morning, I always found bump grew as the day went on so when I lay down there wasn’t a lot there. She measured me and I was too small so had to go for a growth scan. I think I had another growth scan further along as well. They were quite good for an extra check! You do find you worry less about if everything is okay though when you feel proper big kicks all the time so you know they’re fine. For me it was the pressure of ‘is baby moving okay?’ that started to worry me. I used to think what if they’re not and I’ve not realised? Or some days if I’d get a bit less movements I didn’t want to make a big scene and rush away in for a scan so I’d go for a bath to check baby moved and just hope for the best which is 100% not what you’re meant to do 🙈 I hated the thought of rushing in for it to be fine though and look like a time waster but they must literally do it all day every day

overwork · 12/04/2023 09:13

Ooh pelvic pain has really kicked in over the last week or so. I went to see an osteopath who was hopeful that it was just the unbalance from my dodgy knee that was causing it, but I've been doing what she advised and it's not cleared up.
If it stays like this I can cope but hoping it doesn't get worse.
I have a MW apt next week so I'll ask for a physio referral.
Did someone on here mention that you need to ask in advance for a fit to fly cert? I assumed they could knock one up on the day but maybe I should call first

sally16 · 12/04/2023 09:23

@Marmaladebear I watched him clean the en-suite last night.. he did a pretty good job... unlucky for him that means that's his new job since my bump doesn't let me fit to clean the shower properly now 😂

I had a scary realisation today when I sent my boss my MATB1.. it's April... I'm going on annual leave in June and not returning to work for a whole 14 months!!! 🥹

sally16 · 12/04/2023 09:25

@overwork you only need a fit to fly if over 34 weeks I'm sure! Even then.. unless you tell the airline your pregnant they likely wont even ask xx

overwork · 12/04/2023 09:26

Quite the opposite from you @CityKity, I just looked at the same as I feel massive, so was very relieved to see that some women on there are bigger than me. Then noticed that they were the ones carrying multiples Grin
Also noticed that a lot of them were saying baby would probably be viable if born now. I hadn't thought of that, its quite a milestone!

CityKity · 12/04/2023 10:11

@Marmaladebear @ChloeN @BCxx ah thank you so much for the reassurance that the midwife will be keeping an eye on baby’s size. I think so far my 2 appointments have been a lovely touch base but not really that useful, so it’s good to hear that the next one there might be some measurements taken!
My next appointment is in a week so I’ll be 25 weeks, who knows, a lot can change in a week!
I’m the same as you @BCxx Ive barely had a wiff of a bump until week 23 and it does get bigger over the course of the day but first thing in the morning the small size worries me. I’m really really bad at hydration in that usually I only have a coffee a day, maybe a tea and that’s it, so I’m worried that I’m permanently dehydrated and baby doesn’t have enough amniotic fluid! I am trying hard to get more liquids though, I just don’t often succeed 😅

overwork · 12/04/2023 11:50

Thanks @sally16, the airline that we were originally looking at insisted that I fill out some online forms if I was flying after 28 weeks. I'm not, I fly home at 27+6 but it just made me nervous, I really want this holiday and I'd be devastated if I were turned away at the airport!
Then I read that some destinations don't accept people past 28 weeks (I can't see anything else about that and I've spent 2 hours googling including looking at bloody celebrity baby moon pictures). I need to stop reading and instead start looking at holiday clothes I can fit in to!

BCxx · 12/04/2023 13:13

Not even quite 22 weeks but I’m feeling so much pressure on and off, basically on my cervix it feels like. It’s almost like pushing a bruise feeling when it comes then it goes again. I didn’t have a single bit of pain in my last pregnancy so I’m already thinking this one is going to be a lot less joyous 🙈 I wouldn’t mind so much if this was happening at 35 weeks but it seems so early to feel this. I think my last baby was every possible way round except head down so I didn’t ever have this. Is this normal if they’re head down? So early on? 🙄

sally16 · 12/04/2023 15:08

Anyone else just sit with there bump out at home constantly 😂 it feels wrong to have clothes over it for some reason 🤣

DesertSnow · 12/04/2023 21:24

@CityKity Thank you! Glad to know I'm not being pathetic for being sad that DH is away for so long. I'm very busy with work, which I suppose is a blessing in a way, and I will arrange to see a few friends. Just feel a bit sad but got to try and picture how nice it will be when he's back and the countdown to baby is really on - I'll hit 3rd trimester two days after he's back 😱

BMK · 13/04/2023 00:19

@sally16 : noooo- I don't like the look of it at all so active hide/disguise/try make it disappear!! (Except when in bed when need to put pillow etc under it. @BCxx I believe thst is exactly what I got early last time: like 4 months in and it's your pelvic floor muscles aching from you carrying heavy things or overdoing it. I get it this time if I lift my near 3 or 4 Yr old anything more than once/twice per day. I should do those exercises but never do and not sure how to make myself start

BCxx · 13/04/2023 04:45

@BMK it would make sense that I’m doing too much lifting because I keep having to lift my toddler and he’s been doing the most awkward things to avoid being lifted at times so that doesn’t help. I really didn’t do the exercises last time and thought I’d escaped it but clearly not.. I better start 🙄

Sjw30 · 13/04/2023 08:47

Anyone got a holiday coming up? After a difficult few weeks we booked a last minute trip to Turkey when I will be 26 weeks. I’m worrying a bit! (First time being pregnant). Any tips on keeping safe?

BMK · 13/04/2023 08:58

@BCxx yes you'll begin to notice the correlation. I didn’t know what it was last time and went in to see mudwives and they referred me to pregnsncy physio thinking it was pelvic girdle pain (SPD) https://www.pampers.com/en-us/pregnancy/pregnancy-symptoms/article/symphysis-pubis-dysfunction]

So I went to a class regarding that and realised sll the women were having different pain/symptoms to me and I then found out it was my pelvic floor muscles sore/under strain from lifting my then 1 year old.
I didn’t have it either in 1st pregnancy as I think it's a lovely side effect/consequence of having given birth, or else it's just the constant lifting when pregnant which we probably didn't do the same when pregnant the 1st time.

If you find some way of remembering to do them, let me know!
