@Paintandpots I have struggled with the iron tablets! My MW advised me of their side effects before taking them so have been taking them every few days as apposed to daily ! I took my first on a Monday morning just before work and I felt awful ! Is your nausea subsiding at all? How long have you been on them ?:)

@ChloeN thank you I will take a good look, I think I might try one !!

i am nearly 30 weeks and our whole pregnancy we have opted not to find out the gender, but I have a 32 week scan for my placenta and we are thinking we are going to find out the gender !! I feel really excited at the prospect, have peoples ‘inkling’s’ been accurate to the gender of their babes ?

sally16 · 07/06/2023 21:19

@BCxx the fat git has clearly eaten something on a walk and given himself a stomach ulcer 🤦🏼‍♀️ so he's got medicine! Poor dog we were all saying our goodbyes thinking he wasn't coming back 🤣

When my black lab went to the vets with a similar complaint he didn't come back so we've been on edge all day! Thankfully the choccy ones back home sleeping at the bottom of DS bed ❤️

Marmaladebear · 07/06/2023 22:10

@unluckyinlife thank you! So good that you managed to sort everything out in May - can imagine it was exhausting! Was hoping to get everything done while pregnant but looks like we will be moving with a newborn 😅

@LS888 thank you! Great to hear you also did the move and it worked out well 😁 never thought I'd move back but since having kids we really really need the support! Also I think we will have a better quality of life (if we can manage to find a house!!)

Rowanandremy · 07/06/2023 22:10

@sally16 I am struggling so much with belly bands I’m trying to avoid them as much as I can, made a little bit easier by the heat so I’m getting away with wearing skirts where I can. Not good that your little one has chicken pox but it’s good that you should be in the clear, I hope he recovers quickly. I’ve honestly been dreading dd coming home with it or with a notice from preschool that there’s been an outbreak because I’ve never had it. I’m so glad your dog is/will be alright!

@BB1993 thats exciting! I admire you not knowing for this long, we were soo impatient to know 😂 I just knew with dd that she was a girl but this one I wasn’t sure, dw did remind me that in the early stages I said either it was twins or a boy and I ended up being right. In many ways my pregnancies were very similar but different enough that I think I knew he was a boy before we found out officially.

We had a meeting with DD’s new school tonight and the reality of our first baby going off to school in September has hit us both, we’re both thinking we’ll be emotional wrecks for her first week - probably more than her 😂
I also have a strong suspicion that I’m coming down with a sinus infection, I’m really prone to them but I get them quite bad and usually end up with a high fever and I’ve got a wedding to attend in a week and hoping I’ve got enough time to get it under control otherwise there will be a lot of stress.
Ive just remembered I’ve got a hospital consultants phone appointment tomorrow to hopefully get signed off on giving birth in the birthing centre. Not sure what will happen if they don’t sign off on it, if I’ll have to have a face to face appointment or if they’ll tell me over the phone what sort of birth I’ll end up having.

BCxx · 08/06/2023 05:21

@BB1993 oh wow how exciting! Part of me does think wait though now you’ve managed to get to this stage but I 100% don’t think I could even have made it this far without knowing 😂 I knew my son was a boy, I really didn’t need a scan to tell me. This time I’m having a girl and could easily tell if I was to have a third I think as the sickness has been much worse this time so I’d know from that what it was I’m sure but I wasn’t sure before I found out this time

BCxx · 08/06/2023 05:24

@sally16 aw so glad he’s came home and hopefully on the mend 😊 there is just nothing worse, they are a constant worry! What age is he? I’d keep finding myself worrying about how old our dog is getting and I think it’s the pregnancy hormones 🙄

sally16 · 08/06/2023 07:04

@BCxx he's 12! But our last old boy was 15! So I'm not ready to part with him 😅 he's a big softie who adores everyone!

Aw I know I'm too full of hormones too, too easy set off 😅

BCxx · 08/06/2023 09:40

@sally16 aw nice.. fingers crossed he has a while with you yet 🤞🏻

BCxx · 08/06/2023 09:44

Has anyone else noticed they have spent SO much money this month? I think it’s because July seems too last minute to be buying things so I’m trying to get everything done by the end of June but I could be into the thousands easily with just basic stuff I’ve been buying.. this is my second too so I can’t imagine how people with their first are coping 🫣 I was £100 in boots yesterday then the same again on Amazon just getting the essentials and things for my hospital bag. I’m taking a lot of my old stuff too! On top of all the baby stuff I’m finding I’m also trying to get the whole house organised and cleaned (partly because I might struggle to do it after) but everything is just costing so much money! 😩 Looking forward to august to actually stop spending haha

sally16 · 08/06/2023 09:56

@BCxx I'm literally trying to find anything to spend money on it seems!
It's got out of hand this month and I'm not further forward being organised 🤣

jollydollyirl · 08/06/2023 10:01

@BCxx Yes! Although I'm a serial shopper so quite enjoying it! Does anyone know what products are eligible for the baby wishlist discount on Amazon or how to use it? I've loads on my list but the discount doesn't seem to be eligible for most of the bits?

jollydollyirl · 08/06/2023 10:02

@BCxx Also please fill me in on what you're buying!

BCxx · 08/06/2023 10:21

@jollydollyirl my friend did the Amazon wish list but I’ve no idea! I’m not really keeping anything for other people to buy either but I don’t want to leave things until a few weeks before for anyone to ask! This week I’ve got nappies (got the Emma’s diary free ones in boots too), water wipes, cotton wool, bought some pre-mixed formula for the hospital as well as syringes for colostrum depending on how things go, got milk storage bags, got the boring stuff for me, nipple cream (nearly £12 in boots for a tiny tube of it, was £9 on Amazon), all the mini toiletries, brush etc. Still to get another Ewan the sheep, a night light, two swaddles (the ones I have are a bit boyish), more clothes once I’ve gone through them, buggy board, car seat mirror, possibly a new mattress for the next to me and moses basket 🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s all things that are maybe only £30 but there are just so many of them!

BCxx · 08/06/2023 10:23

@sally16 it’s so easy to get carried away but most of the stuff you do actually need so feel like there’s no choice but just to keep ordering it all! I think I’ve been quite laidback up til now thinking it was too early to buy much but it’s meant I now need everything in the one month 🙄

sally16 · 08/06/2023 10:30

@BCxx I don't know how I've spent so much though, I've already got a pram, next to me etc..
mums paying my car to be fixed and she's ordering me new nursery furniture..
father in law gave us a chunk of cash to get the rest organised and I'm still spending my own money 🤣

Got the carpet done today though so just need the furniture picked to get set up!
Carpet was only £200 though 🤣🤣🤣

overwork · 08/06/2023 11:38

We haven't spent any money at all yet. Perhaps we're being a bit too laid back! I've been given piles of clothes, new born and 0-3 months so don't intend on buying anything else unless I find we're missing something essential.
Don't intend on buying too many packs of nappies as suspect baby will be about 9lbs at birth so probably on the cusp of size one and size 2 so will wait to see what fits best. Been given a snuzpod, bath insert, changing mat, travel cot, changing bag and baby carrier. Hoping baby likes carrier as after getting loads of brilliant advice on here about prams we've had to accept we will just get a small second hand pram as we don't have much (any!) storage.
Been given loads of bottles and that prep bottle maker thingy so think I just need teats and new filters.
A car seat is on the list. And formula milk. And a chair thing. Are we being completely naive?!

Marmaladebear · 08/06/2023 13:24

@overwork don't think you're being naive, you've been gifted a lot and that's great!!

We have loads of stuff we got our son that we're using again (changing mat, pram, bouncer, carriers, breast pump, cot etc) but need a new car seat and the one I want is pretty pricey. We've bought sleep suits, vests for 0-3 months then I'm just going to buy as we go. Oh and we bought a new next to me because we sold the old one and some bottles!

I have a few bits to still buy for me which I think will add up in price (peri bottle, nipple cream, breast pads and maternity pads) but I'm really chilled about getting everything eventually... Even if it's late night Amazon orders when baby is here (which I definitely did last time thanks to the desperation caused by sleep deprivation!!)

EsmeSusanOgg · 08/06/2023 15:35

How are folks doing? I'm off work sick this week recovering from a kidney infection (yay pregnancy). Needed a hospital stay and I am knackered.

At 30 weeks it both feels very close to having No.2 arrive... And AGES away.

Gestational diabetes is taking it out of me. I've been on Metformin since 17 weeks, and insulin in the evenings for 2 weeks. And my gut hates me.

On the (sort of) plus side, I've lost 3 kilos since 12 weeks...?

I suspect I'm due another premie again (waters broke just over 36 weeks last time).

EsmeSusanOgg · 08/06/2023 15:36

@overwork we haven't bought anything yet either. Reusing a lot of stuff from first kiddo, and been gifted some other bits by friends and family.

chickpea1982 · 08/06/2023 16:36

Hi Everyone, mind if I join? I'm due on 31st August (though desperately hoping for a September baby so she's not the youngest in her year!). This will be my third. I have two sons aged 5 and 7, so quite a big gap. Even though I know it's coming, it's going to be a big shock going back to the baby stage! x

sally16 · 08/06/2023 17:08

@overwork not naive at all!
90% of anything you need is in asdas and Argos anyway 😂 so not a huge stress if you realise last min!

overwork · 08/06/2023 18:02

Blimey @EsmeSusanOgg you're not having a nice time of it at all are you? When are you going off work? You sound very much in need of a rest.
Welcome @chickpea1982. Sure you can cross your legs for 1 day!
Thanks all. Feel better about my laziness / naivety now (which might actually be denial but never mind). Would rather have too little than too much anyway I suppose as we've nowhere to put stuff as it is

EsmeSusanOgg · 08/06/2023 18:41

Thanks @overwork planned matleave for 24 July (start of summer holidays, so useful with small human one) if I end up sick-sick then I'll start it mandatory the week before (4 weeks before week including EDD). I do have leave and Flexi etc. planned ahead of that though! I'm hoping to work a bit more this pregnancy, as I enjoy working and do not need to go into the office now so WFH. But I am close to being Kaput. I was signed off from 27 weeks with kiddo one though...

BCxx · 08/06/2023 23:16

@overwork nah I definitely think it’s better to be laidback. As long as you have stuff for the hospital, anything else can be bought by other people while you’re in there if need be!

BCxx · 08/06/2023 23:17

Ouch that sounds like a sore one @EsmeSusanOgg 😞 hope you’re feeling better soon!
