@DesertSnow hope everything goes well for you and baby stays in for a few more weeks!!

@jollydollyirl I have started to look into TENS machine after the midwives running my antenatal swimming classes have spoken highly about them. They hire them out which is what I'm thinking to do. I've been told the Boots TENS machines are good.

I've come down with pain in my throat this week which hasn't got any better with home remedies. I saw the doctor today because I didn't want to wait until Monday and they believe I may have strep a throat infection. Ive not got a fever but did feel slightly feverish earlier. They've given me penicillin but I don't know if I should take them or wait to see if it get worse. Was trying to avoid all medication while I was pregnant so that even the smallest pain relief in labour would work miracles!!

Rowanandremy · 03/06/2023 10:00

@DesertSnow I am so sorry that you have all of this worry, I am sending positive thoughts your way and hope that baby stays in for as long as possible.

@unluckyinlife Im glad your scan went well and that you were able to look away in time!

@Paintandpots I find it a very brave to decision to go through labour alone but you have to do what feels right for you and your family. We’ve always had the plan of dd going to a relatives so we can rush off to the hospital (I had a quick ish labour last time and have been told I need to not dawdle 😂) we’re just waiting for her ‘go’ bag to arrive so we can pack it. There’s a chance that, depending upon when my waters go, I’ll end up having a home birth as our hospital is 45 mins away when it’s not rush hour but dw will still have to get dd to my mums and get back - hopefully before baby boy is born.

DesertSnow · 03/06/2023 19:14

Thanks all for your kindness, what a lovely group we have. Thank you especially to those who have shared stories about good outcomes with pre term deliveries xx

@BCxx They've not said re. section, but I expect it depends on how soon she has to come out and how she might cope during labour. But I expect a section is on the cards. To be honest I don't really fancy an early induction as I think my body just wouldn't be ready for labour. I was hoping for a natural birth, but will see what they advise and am happy going with whatever is the safest option.

@Paintandpots I really must get the hospital bag sorted. Just not sure what to pack now as it seems likely baby won't be coming home soon (if she comes in the next few weeks anyway) and not sure if it will be labour or c-section. But I must get off my bum and get organised. I think women who give birth without birth partner are very brave! I don't think I could do it.

@unluckyinlife That sounds so special with the consultant. Glad all is looking ok with you so far, fingers crossed it stays that way. Are they going to monitor you closely now?

Is anyone else just getting really proper exausted now? I can barely manage a 15 minute walk to the park and back again with toddler in the pram or walking beside me with out pausing to catch my breath.
Is that normal? I can't remember from my first pregnancy now....

BCxx · 04/06/2023 18:23

@Paintandpots some days I feel good but today is a terrible day 🙈 I’m having to lie on the sofa at regular intervals. My legs feel so heavy and she’s kicking me so low down it keeps making me feel like I need to pee. Today is just not a good day!

Rowanandremy · 04/06/2023 20:09

@Paintandpots I am really starting to struggle, some days I can do a 45 min swim and get on with my day with frequent rests and other days I can barely manage washing up without getting breathless and feeling like my legs are heavy and I need to sit down.

Is anyone else getting really uncomfortable? I’m struggling to find a comfortable position to sit and lay down in, I got about 5 hours very disturbed sleep last night because I couldn’t get comfortable and baby was moving so much it’s starting to hurt a little. I was sick this morning and my stomach felt bruised and awful every time he moved, I don’t remember feeling like this with dd but he does move far more than she ever did.

DesertSnow · 04/06/2023 21:33

@Paintandpots @Rowanandremy yes, tired and uncomfortable! Nausea is definitely back with a vengeance too. I'm so tired but lying in bed is so uncomfortable! Constantly needing to pee and I can't get comfy lying on my side because of the pain in my hips. And my bump isn't even that big.

I feel the exact same with not being able to get comfortable! I wake up a lot during the night tossing and turning and also feel like baby boy moves a lot more than his big sister ever did! Also have felt even sick at times from him moving around so much and same with my belly feeling almost bruised! At least we are on the final stretch now, really not that long to go! 🙏🤞

LS888 · 04/06/2023 21:44

I’m also feeling very tired. Had a busy few weekends doing jobs and then today the tiredness took over and spent most of the day watching/doing the online hypnobirthing course I signed up for and then finally gave in and had a nap. Also can’t get comfy at night - tossing and turning to find a comfy spot that doesn’t exist! Swollen feet and constantly thirsty, then always needing a wee!! Can’t win!

Had a midwife appointment on Friday and had a moan about a of my symptoms! She said all were completely normal. She said to drink about 500ml more water than normal to reduce feet swelling.

Rowanandremy · 04/06/2023 21:46

@DesertSnow @Chl0o I’m sorry we’re in the same boat but at the same time I’m quite relieved I’m not on my own! I was Googling at 4am if it was normal to be in such discomfort and feeling like I was bruised from his movements. I’ve also felt sick from it and have had to wave dw off touching my stomach because he absolutely loves playing along to her tapping but some days it’s so painful I just can’t.

@DesertSnow my bump isn’t that big either but my word on a night you’d think it was huge for how uncomfortable I am and even turning over becomes this big production 😂 he’s also super active on a night and some nights I can sleep through it and others it keeps me awake.

ooh the home stretch! I’m almost counting down the days to meeting him while also feeling like there’s lots left to do before he arrives 😂

@DesertSnow it was really special.

I'm hoping things stay positive for as long as possible. I have growth scans at least every two weeks. If the baby or placenta seems to deteriorate then it's likely these will be more regular. If I make it to 35 weeks, I will have CTG's biweekly.

My son was born under the 2nd percentile at 37 weeks despite being estimated at 35 weeks to be 6 pounds. It was CTG's that picked up on his distress whilst I was admitted for my own health issues caused by the pregnancy. Either the growth scans were off or he lost weight towards the end of the pregnancy. They could never identify the cause of what this was.

My daughter was born at 6lb 7 at 41 weeks and 1 day, but my first sign of labour was losing a significant amount of blood which they believe was my placenta disintegrating. Hence them watching quite closely with this baby as they think my placenta is insufficient .

That combined with my health issues and my stray coil makes me a complicated patient. 😊

I go to every appointment terrified, but I am so grateful for the extra reassurance.

I was told I wouldn't conceive naturally and was unlikely to sustain a pregnancy in August due to ongoing health issues and folic acid deficiency which meant I wasn't ovulating, this pregnancy was such a surprise, but now I'm past the shock, I feel like it was meant to be and that gives me hope everything will turn out ok. ❤

Daisy155 · 05/06/2023 19:39

Hi all I hope everyone is well, I found out today that my baby’s due date has been changed to an August due date from mid September. It’s a C section, at 37 weeks I thought to join in your group I hope everyone is doing well x

overwork · 05/06/2023 20:11

Hi @Daisy155 Smile
Does anyone have experience of protein in their urine? I was +1 today, so they sent my sample off for I think a PCR? Really hoping it's not the start of pre-eclampsia

LBF2020 · 05/06/2023 22:19

@overwork I had protein +1 at 25 weeks. They weren't concerned and nothing was followed up, subsequent urine tests were fine.
However.. at the weekend I had ketones ++ detected in urine, again they didn't seem too concerned just told me to eat more often and drink more. I have my 31 week midwife app tomorrow so I plan to mention it then.
Fingers crossed it's not preeclampsia for either of us 🤞
Welcome 😊 @Daisy155

overwork · 06/06/2023 06:32

Ooh thanks @LBF2020 hopefully it's just a blip for us both then!

Recoba · 06/06/2023 08:19

@overwork similar to @LBF2020, I had proteins in my last midwife appointment, they sent them off to the lab for analysis but I've not heard anything back and it's been two weeks, so I'm assuming everything is fine. I've only just managed to kick (hopefully) a recurrent thrush infection, so I think the protein was probably from that.

overwork · 06/06/2023 08:22

Oh you're making me feel loads better, also spoke to a friend who's currently pregnant and she also had it which turned out to be nothing.

Miraclesdohappen88 · 06/06/2023 10:54

Hi all, can't believe we are all entering the last few weeks before our little ones arrivals!! I'm nearly 32 weeks and hoping to get to 34/35 weeks before an elective c section due to blood and antibody issues. Sorry Ive been a bit quiet on here but we have had to have 4 blood transfusions directly into the umbilical cord and that's taken its toll on me over the last 2 months. I don't want to sound like a moan but I've been struggling with major hip pain at night it's becoming unbearable and the lack of sleep is getting to me I've tried lots of pillows and pregnancy pillows between legs but I'm just wondering if anyone else has any other suggestions?

Daisy155 · 06/06/2023 11:17

@overwork don’t worry at all I had protein in mine as well and they sent it off to the lab and nothing grew or indicated anything. So don’t worry at all it can happen and the lady said it could be skin brushing in the little container as well that can show up as protein.

@Miraclesdohappen88 sorry to hear this that’s a lot I can imagine you must be exhausted! Especially having had 4 transfusions I really hope the next coming weeks are easier on you! In regards to the sleep as I am almost 26 weeks I am starting to feel round ligament pain around the hips it really hurts when I sleep on one side for so long I have also tried a few pillows nothing seems to work for me as well except switching frequently at night which makes me so tired in the morning and the whole day at work! It’s frustrating

marleyandme · 06/06/2023 15:50

@Miraclesdohappen88 sorry you've had a lot going on! With the hip pain, have you tried putting a little pillow under your bump when you're lying on your side too? I've been getting some hip pain and find it's worse when my bump isn't supported.
Someone in the Facebook group recommended the babymoov dream belt which is a pregnancy belt with memory foam cushioning along the side to support the bump, I've ordered one and waiting on it coming so can't say if it helps yet but I find just putting a little cushion underneath helps. I struggle with having to keep moving the cushion over each time I roll though so hopefully the belt makes it easier!

DesertSnow · 06/06/2023 19:29

@unluckyinlife Fingers crossed things stay positive for you. I'm the same, glad for reassurance but every appointment I'm terrified. I'm 32 weeks and having CTGs twice a week, as well as a doppler scan once a week. All pretty exhausting on top of the hour round-trip to the hospital, plus work.

@Daisy155 Welcome, do you have a date yet, and do you know what you're having so I can add you to the list?

@overwork @LBF2020 fingers crossed it's not pre eclampsia for either of you. At my CTG appoitment yesterday, they made me do a second pee sample, then came back and said they were going to send it off to get tested, without explaining why. I wonder if they found protein in it? My blood pressure reading was also higher than usual, though today it's low and I feel quite faint so not sure what's going on. Sounds like a bit of protein doesn't necessarily mean pre eclampsia, from what other people have said though.

@Miraclesdohappen88 I'm so sorry to hear you're having a tough time of it. Fingers crossed they keep baby in for as long as possible. I'm also potentially facing early delivery and feeling quite worried about it all. Are they giving you the choice of induction or c-section, or is it automatically a c-section because of the issues/timing? No suggestions on the hip pain I'm afraid, also really struggling with this.

I have my next appointment with FMU tomorrow who will see if/how placenta and blood flow have deteriorated over the past week. I can't help feeling a little sad that I should be enjoying the last stretch of being pregnant (at least a bit) more, but I am just full of constant worry.

OP posts:
ChloeN · 06/06/2023 20:39

@Miraclesdohappen88 @marleyandme that was me who recommended the belt☺️ it’s been amazing for me I sleep so much better and I’m in nowhere near as much pain!

BB1993 · 06/06/2023 20:52

@DesertSnow I'm sorry to read you’ve had such a challenging time, I hope it eases up and you are able to enjoy the last weeks of your pregnancy.

Blimey these babies can cause a worry can’t they! my first pregnancy was the simplest experience ever, never even sick! This baby I have had soo much sickness, headaches, nausea, required a NIPT for being high risk of DS, then a low placenta so additional scans and then at my 28 week app my bloods showed I am now anaemic so on iron tablets! Thankful for a healthy baby but still in shock at how two pregnancies can be so vastly different !

I’ve also been feeling so unbelievably uncomfortable most of the time ! I’m tempted by a belly belt mentioned above ! Can you wear these throughout the day or just in bed ? X

ChloeN · 06/06/2023 22:09

@BB1993 I think it’s just a bed one! I think it’s more supportive on your hips with the cushions rather than holding the weight of your bump!

Paintandpots · 06/06/2023 22:47

Is it July yet? Keeps coming out of my mouth lol. I just want to fast forward to August already.

Anyway moaning out of the way, what labour snacks and drinks will you all be packing in few months? I didn't take anything last time to be honest as induction was quickly decided on and didn't have time to get to shops and get anything but this time i wonder what to include?
Lucozade sports orange drink for certain as after fainting it was literally amazing.
What i ate at the hospital whilst waiting for the induction to be successful was vomited during labour. Is that normal? 🤔

@DesertSnow i hope that you get some good news and that the placenta is holding up. Either way your a tough strong mummy and baby is s tough strong baby too.

@BB1993 have you had any side effects of the iron tablets? I'm feeling a bit more sick then normal after taking them.

@Miraclesdohappen88 have you tried sleeping on the sofa? Last pregnancy that is what i ended up doing at times in the last month or so. Hope the pain eases up somewhat. Sorry to hear you have had a tough time of the pregnancy and just hope that it is smooth sailing now for you. Or at least as smooth as it can be.
