@usernamenotpresent was it you that was relocating to Dubai or UAE and if so,you're there already and how is thst going? Your name doesn't show on the options list so I hope that's not a bad sign!

sally16 · 08/05/2023 10:04

@airmaxJ drink fresh orange with the iron tablets! Helps them absorb and tends to stop the constipation! Midwife gave me a row for not taking them with OJ last time! Said it's something that should be told with the prescription!
As for birth,, I'm the same.. was emergency last time.. so booked a planned this time but hoping I go myself 😅

BCxx · 08/05/2023 10:17

@airmaxJ i think the best thing you can do is prepare yourself for the csection. I was so nervous last time but feel a lot better about it this time as I know what happens now and I think the majority of them are very textbook. I watched lots of videos and listened to podcasts before it last time which really helped to envision the whole thing. The best ones I found were the maybe baby podcast, the episode with Anna williamson, she describes hers in so much detail and it was exactly as mine ended up being. The two best videos I found on YouTube were Jennifer joys and eilidh wells’ 😊 I will probably be panicking last minute again but feel a lot more calm at this point!

airmaxJ · 08/05/2023 12:41

@sally16 @BCxx thanks xx

DesertSnow · 08/05/2023 16:56

@LS888 My only with the name I think we've now settled on is that it's increasingly common. But I'm not sure I care quite enough, as we don't personally know anyone with the name.

@BCxx Maybe you just won't know till you see her? I have a list of names but pretty sure we've decided. Unless she really doesn't look like that name, then I'll pull out the list again! Yes DH noticed a difference in bump size - we had a comical moment where he gestured and accidentally hit my bump because he wasn't used to me taking up that much space 😂

@newmummie Yes 100% to baby brain!

@CityKity ah it's such a relief to have him back, and so nice to be able to share the pregnancy with him again. He finally felt the baby kick which was special. Yep, 28 weeks is officially the 3rd trimester which seems mad! I haven't had comments about looking small, but my bump only just measured above 3rd centile at the 25 week appointment. Will see what they say at my 28 week one this week. Naming them feels like such a responsibility doesn't it? Maybe you'll know when you see them?

We had a bit of a scare yesterday. Aside from a couple of tiny flutters in the early afternoon, I didn't feel the baby all day so called hospital at 9pm and went down. All ok, baby must have gotten into a position where she's kicking my back or placenta and I just couldn't feel her, but they kept me on the monitor for almost an hour until they were satisifed all was well. So relieved, but knackered today! Also we could hear a woman screaming in labour the whole time which was a little disconcerting when we were already in a panicky state.

I've not been counting kicks or tracking as such, but it definitely struck me as odd to not have felt her at all. I'm a bit reluctant to track as I know I could get very obsessive.

@DesertSnow glad all ended up okay.. I was in that situation the other night but she did eventually kick a few times so I just left it as it was 10pm and luckily it’s been fine since but it definitely is better to go in and get checked. It’s a bit of reassurance too, which is good any day 😅

I know I think we could end up waiting til we see her now if we aren’t any further forward at this stage 🙈

BCxx · 08/05/2023 17:55

I met a few girls from work today, all similar ages and we were having a lot of chat about babies (all are mums). Two of us have a boy, one has a girl and the other is pregnant and doesn’t yet know what it is.

The one with the girl is quite a close work friend but she’s annoyed me a bit today! She was talking about the gender scan with her daughter and she said how pleased she was when she found out it was a girl because she’d have been a bit disappointed if it was a boy. Part of me thinks she’s just being honest but the other part of me thinks it was a really thoughtless thing to say when two of us have boys and the other potentially might 🤔 It was almost like a really smug comment the way she said it. Then the other girl who is pregnant was saying she doesn’t know how I’m managing it with a toddler and the same friend again said she’d rather die than have another just now. Again, maybe just an honest comment but since coming away I’ve thought why would you say that? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Maybe I’m just over sensitive at this stage 🙈

Shinea · 08/05/2023 18:28

Hello Everyone,
I was so tied up with work and toddler!!
It's 24 weeks for today still 3 months to go!!
Which looks pretty very lengthy way to go..
I couldn't catch up messages here; hope everyone is good and enjoying the phase!!
I somehow glanced about some FB group, could anyone post joining link for me!

Thanks lovelies!! ❤️❤️

Rowanandremy · 08/05/2023 21:49

@DesertSnow thats such a worry for you, I’m so glad all is well. I had to do a trip to the hospital for dd when she wouldn’t move at all for a big chunk of the day and then on the way to the hospital she moved like she was making up for it. Two days ago baby boy wasn’t moving like he usually does for a morning so I was quite close to ringing but he moved and was as usual for the rest of the day.

About names we thought we had his name but after calling him it for a while we changed our minds, we had another name that we really liked so we’ve gone with that and it feels right. We’re having a scan on Friday so hopefully he shows his face and we can see if he suits it 😂 though we don’t have another name we both like enough if he doesn’t!

@BCxx I am in no way saying that you are more sensitive, if anything I admire your restraint because all of that would have annoyed me, but I’ve definitely noticed that I’m getting crankier and I can’t put it down to lack of sleep anymore. I was so zen when pregnant with dd that my current cranky levels have shocked me a bit because Im not usually like this so I can only put it down to pregnancy.

DomesticElf · 08/05/2023 23:42

@BMK wasn't me, no (I am name-changed UsernameNotPresent ☺️)

Just plodding along here, got big interview in a week's time. Looking forward to that being done and over with so I can start relaxing (or panicking... Depending on the outcome I guess).

BMK · 09/05/2023 00:06

@DomesticElf ,sorry!! Good luck with your I/V though: that will be a huge turning point for you to have that out of way! I have sth similar myself on 24th and 25th- career defining type so I am with you re head down for next 2 weeks. Was it @somuchtolearnabout (moving to Dubai/UAE and if so,how are you and things going??) @BCxx I think when pregnant people are more sensitive but others are also unthinking: that girl probably did genuinely personally want a girl and she never thought twice about how anyone else might take that: she was probably just expressing her world view on pregnancy and babies from her then perspective. The others having babies were probably well meaning as when you have a baby and especially at toddler stage you think you wouldn't be able to cope with a baby too. However any toddler that is 2 or nearly 2 when a baby is born is actually fine,it's the ones just gone 1 etc that make life really hard with a baby as they need so much too,but everything is doable and particularly with 2 parents. 1 alone needs help of some sort,or I would- but some women are so incredible: they can do it all and are such figures of strength and wonder. I'm just not one of them!!

LS888 · 09/05/2023 08:04

@BCxx sorry your friends were inconsiderate of your feelings. I don’t understand why anyone would say anything like that at all especially in a room with parents of boys. Perhaps she just wasn’t thinking!

I went to a baby shower last weekend and the couple both wanted to have a boy. Both wearing blue and chatted openly about it. When the balloons went off. They were pink! Everyone in the garden knew they wanted a boy. So people cheered and the ‘-aaah it’s a girl! moment seemed a bit of an anti climax. I supposed they will both be able to get their heads around having a girl now. Kind of reaffirmed our decision to not find out though. I am honestly happy with either so waiting for that moment to just be the two of us, just after birth will be exciting and I will be so happy to a baby!

BCxx · 09/05/2023 09:23

@LS888 oh no 🙈 that’s the worst when people have openly said they want one or the other. We have friend’s with two girls who are due their third and it’s their gender reveal next weekend. They are telling everyone and anyone that they want a boy so I fear it could end up one of those moments 😬 I think if you have a preference, even subconsciously, you probably shouldn’t pop a balloon in front of people for everyone to watch your reaction! A surprise will be nice 😊 Now we’ll have a boy and girl and a third is probably unlikely but I always said I’d have a surprise for the third if I had one of each

BCxx · 09/05/2023 09:26

@BMK yeah I think she was just so busy wrapped up in her little world she clearly didn’t even notice what she’d said. My hairdresser has 14 months between her two and I don’t know how she does it. We’ll have just over 2 years between them and I actually haven’t found being pregnant with a toddler too awful, I’d say the worst bit was the lying on the sofa feeling sick and sorry for myself at the start (while he drives a train over me repeatedly) 🙈 but I think by the time baby is here he’ll be fine, other than a bit of jealousy at first probably. I think it just depends on how hard you find it first time round, I was lucky I really didn’t have it too bad at all

BCxx · 09/05/2023 09:28

@Rowanandremy definitely 🙈 I think I just sat thinking ‘I would never have said that in this situation’ but she obviously didn’t think! I’m finding it hard to go along with other people’s plans now and I’m becoming quite selfish. I went shopping with my sister yesterday and after walking round for half an hour thought I’ve had enough 😂 and went and sat in the car!

Rowanandremy · 09/05/2023 18:10

I saw my midwife today, all is well and got the all clear from the gtt test which is reassuring. I’m measuring at 30 weeks but midwife wasn’t concerned so will have to see where I’m at with my next appointment which isn’t until I’m 32 weeks. We also have a referral for the home birth team, not because we actually want a home birth but our hospital is quite a distance and I was advised that dd was speedy for a first baby so I need a contingency plan - just in case baby boy decides rush hour is a fab time to arrive! So should hear from them in the coming weeks and have a tentative plan in place.

@BCxx some people don’t think before speaking and only realise afterwards how it might have been taken, definitely an odd thing to have said considering who she was with. I don’t blame you, I manage so much and then do what I need to do to feel comfortable which is usually sitting down 😂 I am getting so cranky and irritable and with people who I wouldn’t usually but I’m finding, depending on the day and situation, that I have no patience for them and it’s not even that they are doing anything wrong. Had the gtt test last week so I was starving, tired and completely done and was stuck in a room of people sniffling repeatedly and loudly and it just annoyed me immensely. How I got out of there without saying something to someone, I don’t know but dw was extremely relieved when we could leave 😂😂

sally16 · 10/05/2023 09:12

I'm having the worst week 😭
My car broke down and it's costing sooo much to fix 😭
Only had it 7 months but didn't take the extended warranty like a foooool! And just renegotiated mortgage and took a HP for a renewed van for DP so probably can't even try for a new car instead with all the credit activity :(

I hope everyone else is having a much better week! Nearly 3rd trimester!!! 💙

BMK · 10/05/2023 10:13

@sally16 sorry to hear that. Do you have a good mechanic and was it just a bad buy or would it need those things anyhow and after this it should be fine?*the warranty probably costs half of what you'll pay and usually they're fine just within the warranty..
Is HP not v exp credit? Was his old van dead?
Third Trimester for me on Friday!
I was at Bruce Springsteen last night and he was AMAZING! I am tempted to travel to see him again, but I think with alcohol would be much better!

sally16 · 10/05/2023 10:25

@BMK just bad luck unfortunately:( went to nearly every mechanic in town yesterday and only one would take the job on but said to try the company I got it and they said they can try but obv a lot of things going at once :(
Yeh the van was dead! It needed a full new engine as the same thing happened to his van but he ignored it and ruined his engine! Idiot 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
It was old tbh.. like 2007 and he had it from new haha. My cars a 19 plate but only 7 months new to me :( xx

BMK · 10/05/2023 11:15

Oh my goodness, so bad for such a new car!!can't believe noone would take it!!!!!!!!? Is it defectives ie grounds for money back? Oh that is the worst. Can you cast your net a bit further re mechanics? I would be raging after buying ehat I consider an almost new car!(mine is 08 but going strong!)moreso what is with noone wanting to fix it???

overwork · 10/05/2023 12:49

Oh heck, not what you need right now is it.
It's really bad luck for it to go so badly after you've only had it 7 months.
I also had my 28 week apt yesterday. Bump measuring ahead. Which I can't find surprising given my diet and the size of my partner. But obviously would be happier if it wasn't massive! Also got confirmation no GDM which is such a relief.
And today I've been fitted for a free crown at the dentist which was a lovely surprise, particularly given this tooth has given my gyp for years - it's certainly not a pregnancy issue!

sally16 · 10/05/2023 15:54

It's just totally bad luck :( was fully serviced etc before I got it and was perfect!

I've got someone picking it up tomorrow so he will hopefully get it done over the weekend 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

JT2021 · 10/05/2023 18:23

Hi all - haven’t managed to catch up but hope you’re all doing okay! Can’t believe some are in third trimester and rest of us on the way! I’m 27 weeks now and is anyone else suffering from major gas and bloating or is it just me that’s like a massive balloon 😩

I have the diabetes testing next week - has anyone else had this yet and is it alright? I’m also debating a 4d scan but baby boy constantly hides his face and wriggles at every scan so wondering if it is worth it at this point?

BCxx · 10/05/2023 18:34

@JT2021 was reading a thing last night saying weeks 25-28 are the most they move about the whole pregnancy 😅 don’t know when the best time to get one is though, we didn’t get one last time so aren’t getting one this time. We didn’t want to see her face before the day but at 16 weeks they put it on after my gender scan and I really didn’t want to see it but had to just keep looking away 🙈

sally16 · 10/05/2023 19:54

@JT2021 we got a 4D at 29 weeks with DS and it was amazing!! They do multiple attempts and send you on a walk etc if baby is misbehaving haha!
As for GTT it's not bad! Just so boring waiting about! Good luck 💙
