I’ve got my GTT Friday but had 2 last time so I know what I’m in for, I’ve got a new book ready to hopefully escape it..but in reality I know I’ll be starving and grumpy 🤣
I want a 4D scan but also kind of want it to be a surprise too! We’ve kept the sex a surprise and feel like the 4D scan might accidentally show us the sex. I think I’ll keep a complete surprise. I’ve got 4 more NHS scans still so that should satisfy!

overwork · 10/05/2023 20:22

Does anyone have any helpful advice on prams?
We're going looking at the weekend (not necessarily intending to buy on the day but need to try them out for size, my partner is huge and I don't want him having to hunch over the buggy). A friend suggested a YoYo which seems quite popular round here.

overwork · 10/05/2023 20:24

I'm also really impressed that you could all decipher what your baby looks like from your 4D scans, we got given some free 4D pics at our anomaly scan and we're both slightly perturbed by them so we only show other people the 2D images Grin

ChloeN · 10/05/2023 20:35

@overwork I had some 4D photos of the baby at 18 weeks and they look nothing like they do now, it’s crazy how much they change! The one from the weekend looks like a proper baby not like an alien anymore 🤣

Spiralout · 11/05/2023 06:43

@overwork the YoYo is very much a city pram - great for manoeuvring tight spaces, public transport, light and small when folded but the wheels are very small and means the ride is quite bumpy (for baby and your wrists!) if the surface isn’t even.

We made a list of priorities (ours were height adjustable, one handed folding mechanism and all terrain for dog walks) and booked a Mamas and Papas appointment to be walked through. I think John Lewis do similar. There isn’t any pressure to buy but you will get discounts/vouchers if you do.

overwork · 11/05/2023 07:32

Thanks @Spiralout that is really helpful. We are very much city based and we do live in a tiny flat so perhaps that's why it was mentioned. Not sure the fixed handle bars will be any good for us though. I didn't realise I had to make an appointment, I was going to go to both of those shops on Saturday - maybe I should have booked in advance!

Spiralout · 11/05/2023 07:41

@overwork happy to help! We found it so overwhelming with all the choice!
There will be staff around to help but we found our local John Lewis (Kingston) got super busy so I’d recommend to go early at a weekend if you can!

LS888 · 11/05/2023 08:26

@overwork we had an appointment at mamas and papas and they were really good. Helped us look at car seats and prams. Then let us play around with them- putting them up and down etc. and letting us do it by ourselves to mull it over. No pressure to buy but we do get a £100 voucher once the pram has been delivered so think we will get a mattress for the cotbed with that.

DesertSnow · 11/05/2023 09:35

@JT2021 We're not doing a 4D scan as we want to keep her face a surprise, and we can't justify the cost. The GD test is fine, just make sure you take a book!

@overwork as another city-based mum in a small flat, we went for the M&P's Strada pram, which suited our needs. Folds up pretty compact but sturdy at the same time. Definitely recommend getting an appointment with the store - we booked ours the day before I think so you might still be able to.

@DesertSnow great I'll take a look now, thanks all for the advice! I can't quite believe how many prams there are

DomesticElf · 11/05/2023 15:10

On the topic of prams etc, can anyone recommend a buggy board?

Rowanandremy · 11/05/2023 17:56

@JT2021 we’re having a 4d scan tomorrow and we’re really excited for it. We had one with dd and I was only really doing it because dw wanted it but it was nice to see dd’s face - even if she did keep it hidden and we had to go back 😂 hoping baby boy doesn’t do that tomorrow because we’re taking my mum with us.
The GD test was fine, I was reminded to fast and only drink water and they did ask everyone several times if they’d listened. I don’t know if you know what to expect but I had a blood test and then the sugary drink which wasn’t too bad, it tasted like an orange capri sun and then you wait for 2-3 hours and then another blood test. So nothing too bad just a bit of a boring wait, I took a book and a puzzle book 😂

allgoodthings84 · 11/05/2023 18:18

does anyone know if it’s good to have a 4D scan at 26 weeks or will it be better later on? I know it should be before 32 weeks but not sure if 26 weeks is too early to see enough?

BCxx · 11/05/2023 18:26

Im looking for one as well @DomesticElf The lascal one seems to pop up everywhere and I think I would like one with a seat as he is still so little but they’re £130 or something crazy. Going to see if there’s something cheaper

sally16 · 11/05/2023 19:40

@allgoodthings84 my friend had one at 26 and 30 weeks and the 26 weeks one was good but not as good photos!

ChloeN · 11/05/2023 19:49

@allgoodthings84 your placentas anterior isn’t it? I was told 26/27 was best!

Narwhal88 · 11/05/2023 20:19

Hi all, trying to keep up with the thread but never get round to posting!
26 weeks today and saw the midwife. Measuring 25cm which she said is 1cm under average so fine but on the smaller side.
We want to book a 4D scan as well but not sure when we can fit it in! I had a scan last week at 25 weeks as I was a bit worried about movements when we were on holiday (in the UK), they tried the 4D (they were asking if we wanted to upgrade the scan) but they couldn't get a clear image, they said it was too early.
I'm going to the baby show at the NEC at the weekend! Hoping to test all the prams and car seats etc to get a good idea of what we want to go for. Is anyone else going or been before?
Re prams it seems like if you get a sturdy one with all terrain wheels then they tend to be quite heavy. Quite conflicted! We live in a seaside town and do a lot of dog walks, so semi rural and will need to put it in and out the car a lot I imagine.

allgoodthings84 · 11/05/2023 20:37

@sally16 @ChloeN thank you 😊. I have got an anterior placenta. We can’t do 28 weeks as my partner is working all weekend and I work all week. Not sure about 30 weeks as he doesn’t have those shifts yet but we can do 26 weeks so in just over a week. I can only do every other week as we would love for my daughter to come too (she’s 8 in 2 weeks) as she’s struggling a bit with how long it is until baby is here. Baby is being born on 21st August but it seems forever for her. I didn’t tell her until 15 weeks to try and make it shorter (and for all results to come back low risk) but it’s dragging on for her now. I didn’t want to take her to the private gender scan at 17 weeks as wanted to know everything was ok with the 20 weeks nhs scan first.

ChloeN · 11/05/2023 20:44

@allgoodthings84 Id go for it at 26 weeks!☺️ mine was 27+4 and I can’t see that there’d be much difference in a week! I nearly booked mine for the weekend before but we ended up being busy that day!

allgoodthings84 · 11/05/2023 20:46

@ChloeN thank you 😊 I’m excited but nervous too as they do freak me out a little because of the colour I think 😂

sally16 · 11/05/2023 20:47

@Narwhal88 I have a proper travel system and also a stroller.. you kinda need the decent wheels for a newborn, otherwise it's very bumpy for them. Can't go running with newborns until 6 months I believe, maybe 4? Because of the jiggling 😅
We go on a lot of dog walks and the travel system was the only thing we found was actually easy to push, everything else was such an effort and got stuck loads.. used the big pram for 2 years! can't wait to get it out haha!

ChloeN · 11/05/2023 20:57

@allgoodthings84 I know what you mean, I always thought that about other peoples but obviously I feel like my baby had the cutest 4D scan I’d ever seen🤣🤣 even when it looks like a demon on those front on scan photos I still think they’re cute 🤣

allgoodthings84 · 11/05/2023 21:13

@ChloeN the front facing scan pictures make me laugh 😂

Spiralout · 11/05/2023 21:49

@Narwhal88 we wanted an all terrain pram as well and something that was easily folded. We narrowed it down to the Bugaboo Fox 5 (which we ended up getting) and the Cybex Priam (more expensive as not typically sold as a “bundle”). It is still quite heavy but you take the seat off to fold and so the collapsed frame isn’t too heavy to get in and out of the car.

BCxx · 11/05/2023 22:46

@Spiralout love the bugaboo fox, it’s gorgeous and hardly anyone here has them, any bugaboos I see are the donkey
