I’m mat leave from due date but annual leave 4 weeks before ☺️ so off from 36 weeks… 10 weeks 2 days to go!!

marleyandme · 03/05/2023 19:25

I've got 4 weeks annual leave from 35 weeks and then starting mat leave at 39 weeks 😊

Marmaladebear · 03/05/2023 19:37

Snap @marleyandme I've got about 9 weeks left too! Using annual leave until 37 weeks the mat leave.

Our house is finally on the market 🥳🥳🥳 went up today and have 3 viewings booked for the weekend. Fingers crossed we get an offer quickly 🤞🏽🤞🏽 going to view houses next week so if the stars align we'll find something 😂 obviously in a chain though so doubt we'll complete any time soon - baby will be here before we do!

marleyandme · 03/05/2023 21:19

@Marmaladebear good luck for a speedy sale!

This is definitely TMI, but is anyone finding they're quite moist down there?... I've been wearing daily panty liners now for about 2 months 😂 no odour or anything else weird so I guess it's another joy of pregnancy? But I don't feel dry without a liner now!

DesertSnow · 03/05/2023 22:22

@unluckyinlife congrats on exchanging! And @Marmaladebear good luck for a quick sale!

I'm intending on going on mat leave at 39 weeks, if baby doesn't show up early. I have to use half my annual leave before then, but instead of taking it in one go, I'm taking a day off a week (sometimes two) from now until then, which will be nice! Really need to start working on my handover.

@marleyandme yes and ditto, but it's part and parcel of pregnancy and it usually is a sign that your body is in good working order and keeping everything clean down there for your health and babies health... read up details of it on google, type in 'discharge during pregnancy' or something like that. If it smells funny or looks unusal to what is the norm though let midwife know.

@Marmaladebear might be easier to move once baby is there. Wishing you luck on the viewings.

I think my toddler has felt some of the kicks from baby and is a bit confused. He likes to hug my tummy when we are sitting together on the sofa, but that could just be be him hugging mummy rather then giving the baby a hug.

Heard baby's heartbeat today at the check up which was lovely and toddler behaved himself too.

Mat leave sounds exciting. Hope you all get some well deserved rest and tlc before the due dates.

Paintandpots · 03/05/2023 22:28

@DesertSnow i assume 1 day off a week will give you a bit of a break from commutes and the busy workplace?

DesertSnow · 03/05/2023 22:34

@Paintandpots so lovely hearing the heartbeat isn't it! I mostly work from home, but my job can be quite stressful (work for a charity that's doing a lot of work with children in Ukraine) so think just getting some headspace even for that one day a week will make a big difference to my wellbeing.

DH is finally home tomorrow after nearly 4 weeks away 😁Hurrah!

@unluckyinlife congratulations on the house purchase!!(or sale??) But congrats as I know you're happy about it. I'm self employed so am becoming unavailable from early June - will continue to do a bit of paperwork but not going anywhere. Mat leave (pay) from end June probably or maybethe start. I'll be looking to go back to work probably in December so it makes sense.(can only deal with crying and children full time for so long!). Does anyone know what makes babies come early? @sally16 for some reason you pop into my mind as someone who might know this? This is my 3rd baby and the others were both the 1 week after due date. I really do want this baby to come early as I want to be out of hosp for my birthday! It's my 30th again..err plus 10. So I want to celebrate and not be huge and waiting or in hosp for it; albeit I know most likely this baby will probably be late too (but I thought they can come earlier tbe more pregnancies you've had)

CityKity · 04/05/2023 08:13

Hello ladies! Been a bit quiet on here recently. After the tiny pinkish wipe scare, everything else has been fine since thankfully.
@marleyandme yes and ditto on the discharge, especially the more active I am, and have also read that it’s totally normal.
27w2d today and feeling alright. Have been on holiday, hiking most days but am looking forward to a few days downtime before getting back to work next week.

Am I the only stupid one working up to their due date? Everyone I’ve spoken to has suggested at least a week or two leave ahead of the due date, but my Mat leave package really isn’t great, so I’d rather have the time on the other side.
Im also assuming first babies come late so I’ll have some waiting around time.

LS888 · 04/05/2023 08:37

I will be finishing on 1st July or around then. Currently my last booked in day working is 23rd June but shifts come up all the time. So will see how I feel if I want to do more. I will be around 35 weeks then. Assuming if I’m claiming maternity allowance I will need to let them know which date to start on and think the first of July will allow me to have some time to ‘enjoy summer’ and get last few bits prepared.

allgoodthings84 · 04/05/2023 12:59

@BMK one of my friends has 4 children and the latest one was the only one who was late. More than 2 weeks late! They had no room at the hospital to get her in for an induction so she had to ring every morning to see if she could go in. He came on his own in the end. The others were all early.

My partners colleague has 4 too and the last one was the latest. The other 3 had got earlier each time but the 4th was unexpectedly 2 weeks late

no idea if these cases are unusual though as I’ve only had one birth so far. Hopefully baby will come early for you 😊

BoodifulGoose · 04/05/2023 13:29

@CityKity At current I'm going to be working up until my due date. Haven't heard from HR whether I have to take annual leave or not prior to this, but if not then I will be working till due date!

Not sure if it makes a difference but I work from home 85% of the time so feel like it'll be fairly easy to do so, providing my health is well.

CityKity · 04/05/2023 15:44

@BoodifulGoose Glad it’s not just me. I’m a FTM so can’t tell if I’m being too optimistic about the last month of pregnancy but I’ll also be working from home the entirety of July so am hoping I can take it easy to some extent and avoid commuting in summer heat.
Im also waiting to hear from HR if I can carry my leave over from this year and add it to next year to extend my leave, which I have been told is the case.

nadsc · 04/05/2023 15:45

Sorry I have been really quiet on here recently. Feel like pregnancy is just flying by. I’m 26 weeks tomorrow and still have another 2 weeks until I have my second midwife appointment this pregnancy. It’s mad cos I feel like this pregnancy I have had more problems than my first 😂 I ended up going to triage about 3 weeks ago as I was cramping loads. Turns out I had a uti so was on antibiotics for a week and thrush has been a pain in the bum this pregnancy. Never ever had it before this. To top it all off, I now have sciatica so hoping baby moves off whatever nerve they’re on. Despite all this, I’m still loving being pregnant.
I am going on Mat leave very early this time, heading off at 31 weeks and it can’t come soon enough! Hope everyone else is doing well. I have been reading the thread as much as I can since I’ve last posted.

CityKity · 04/05/2023 15:46

I also can’t believe we’re in May already 😱 where did time go!?

Amme18 · 04/05/2023 20:05

@CityKity I could definitely manage up to due date working from home from experience! I can’t carry annual leave over though so figured I may as well take it before, plus feel like I have so much to do and because I have a little boy I have no time to do things. Obviously last time had weekends/evenings ☺️ I don’t think it’s unmanageable working to due date!

sally16 · 04/05/2023 20:58

@CityKity working from home I'd defo work till my date! But I have 7 weeks annual leave to take and they won't carry it all over so I'd be aswell going off on leave early then straight to maternity 😅

newmummie · 04/05/2023 22:34

CityKity · 04/05/2023 15:46

This! I can't believe how fast time is going

newmummie · 04/05/2023 22:40

Anyone else have pelvic girdle pain? My midwife confirmed that's what all my pain was, it's sooo painful I genuinely think soon I won't be able to walk, I'm only 26 weeks ahh

BMK · 04/05/2023 22:41

@allgoodthings84 thank you!!!*That's really interesting as I thought all FTM babies came late absent induction! Ok fingers crossed: that has boosted my optimism!

BMK · 04/05/2023 23:10

@newmummie I get pain but only if I stand a lot or lift heavy ish things and stand etc, moreso at end of day or after overdoing it he day before; I find with rest it improves or goes away of you rest enough and don't over do it

unluckyinlife · 05/05/2023 14:52

We completed on the house today! I'm officially moving in the morning! 😍

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 05/05/2023 17:15

Congratulations @unluckyinlife

P1pk · 05/05/2023 18:31

Hi all sorry life has been so busy last few weeks that I've hardly been able to keep up! So nice to hear about everyone's maternity leaving coming and such a shame that some of you can't carry leave over!!
I had midwife appt yesterday and heard baby's heartbeat which was lovely!
Started to have a lot of discharge and it is not nice. I thought pregnancy would mean I don't need to buy any sanitary pads!! How niave I was!

I handed my matb1 form to hr this afternoon so hoping that they come back to me next week and confirm my annual leave etc. I am hoping to work until 39 weeks unless baby feels like coming earlier :)

Hope everyone's got a nice relaxing Bank Holiday weekend to look forward to 😁
