@sally16 Wow mine tasted horrible. I hated it and due the next test in a few days time. 🙃

@airmaxJJeanii when i have something sweet or creamy or generally just eat this little fella gets excited and kicks for more.

@Amme18 hope it wasn't too scary and the trip not too tricky.

@Rowanandremy sounds like you have a little kickboxer in there!!

And about clothing and sales, reminds me, how many baby grows do you think a baby should need?
I want to be able to rinse out or hand wash stains out and leave them for an end of week or half way through the week wash in the machine. Rather then washing clothes every day.... thoughts?

My little toddler is getting the occasional feeling of his baby brother kicking when he is snuggling up with me on the sofa. 😆

ChloeN · 28/04/2023 17:06

@Amme18 glad all was okay☺️ I’d definitely phone if I felt less I don’t think I could get through the day if I didn’t!

Rowanandremy · 28/04/2023 18:14

@Amme18 So glad everything was ok! Dd did that to us once, no movement all day so rang and was told to go down to the hosp - on the way there she started moving again.

@Paintandpots funnily enough we’ve said that! 🤣 I’m sort of nervous for when I’m further along and there’s a lot less room! I’d say if baby is going to be in a baby grow day and night then I’d average for 2/3 a day so you’ve got one going spare in case of sick up or a poonami. So absolute minimum 9-14 baby grows. Aww that’s so sweet! Does your toddler like feeling the movements? My dd is a bit freaked out about it but that could be because she had her head on my stomach when her brother decided to kick 😂

DesertSnow · 28/04/2023 20:12

@Amme18 Glad that all was well, and the upside is you got to see baby again!

@Paintandpots I feel like I didn’t know a number of babygrows last time and I still don’t this time 😆 especially when they go through all the sizes (newborn, first size, 0-1, 0-3 months etc) so quickly! The good thing this time is I’ll buy some new ones but also have all the ones from last time as back ups so I think il be able to gather up bigger loads of washings instead of having to wash every day or two. I find it hard enough to keep on top of our clothes, towels and my toddlers clothes so I have no idea how I’m going to cope with another person added to that mix 🤯

LS888 · 29/04/2023 08:03

We bought some more babygrows from Vinted this week. All second hand but barely worn. I also have no idea on how many to get per size. But we have quite a few 0-3. Just didn’t have many newborn. Also without knowing the gender I want to be able to get some once we know! So might send hubby out to buy some once the baby has arrived!

Aside from babygrows which I assumed they would mostly be wearing day and night. I have vests, socks, scratch kits etc. so babygrows for might need to have feet? Sorry clueless! And do you need many outfits? Like separate tops and bottoms? I bought a few pairs of dungarees on Vinted but they are mainly 0-3.

ChloeN · 29/04/2023 08:11

@LS888 Ive just bought a few outfits in 0-3 for now and the rest sleepsuits. For the newborn/up to 1 month I’ve just got sleepsuits because I can’t imagine dressing them in an actual outfit🤣 maybe I’ll change my mind when they’re here though!

ChloeN · 29/04/2023 08:12

@LS888 actually that’s a total lie I have a some H&M bodysuit and legging sets in the smaller sizes 🙈🤣

BMK · 29/04/2023 08:22

Re the clothes: I found that in pretty much every situation bigger was better,so once size up lasted longer and gave you an easier time getting it on. I will probably still buy 1 pack of 3 newborn ones, but if your baby is big they will only fit for a very short time: maybe up to two weeks, if I remember correctly! @LS888 Yes their feet get cold, but you have socks and it's summer so totally different to the Winter baby scenario! Wow: May 1st on Monday! * Summer! Also @AnnieApple123 hope you are OK and didn't receive any bad news. We are all genuinely thinking of and hoping things are well for you,but I know in practical terms that only goes so far! Luff to you though!❤
@overwork hope your holiday, meterologically, has improved!

BCxx · 29/04/2023 09:51

@LS888 the babygrows with the feet and turn over hand mitts last time were great as he used to always get the individual scratch mitts in his mouth and pull them off. I stopped using scratch mitts after not that long though, can’t remember when exactly. I got a bit carried away buying proper outfits for during the day last time as I had it in my head I didn’t want people coming round to visit when I had him in pyjamas. The comfy two piece outfits they could sleep in during the day would be good for that or just some of the nice babygrows with a collar or something to make it look more like clothes 🙈 I wouldn’t think twice about seeing someone’s newborn baby in a babygrow during the day now though but for some reason really wanted to get him changed into clothes every morning when the visitors were constant!

BCxx · 29/04/2023 09:55

Vinted is amazing! I’ve got so many nice little 0-3 months dresses etc off it which have only been worn once or twice. We’re going on holiday at the end of the year when it’s past the summer here so I’ll buy 3-6 months holiday stuff when everyone’s selling it off and itl only get worn once on holiday then sold again. You can get things for £2/3 that would have been £40 each new

BMK · 29/04/2023 11:31

@BCxx absolutely re the stress of rushing to get the baby changed before the visitors land and of course baby would poo just after you had changed them,or wee whilst nappy being changed (on you or their new clothes!) leading to bonus stress levels, at which time guests usually arrive in! This is after trying to tidy house and try change yourself and where you likely had to time to eat and now instead of having a sleep or rest you have to be full of chat and offers of tea etc!(and worse with toddler or etc going around looking for you to boot). Your post brought me back to all that stress as it was all.so new. even the 2nd time it wasn't much different as I had a 1 yr 3.5 month old when baby was born to also mind and other half was away after 2nd baby's first 3 weeks - for 2 whole months!!!(I still have not forgiven him). So to everyone out there: don't put yourself under pressure for visitors and don't worry about having baby in sleepsuits but definitely look for the zip ones as those buttons drive you crazy especially at night time changes

sally16 · 29/04/2023 12:43

Has anyone started to rage clean? Like need something done that second..
I've done this today.. and accomplished next to nothing 😂
I need the baby room cleared but neither me or my partner seem to have any motivation to clear the masses of crap!

BCxx · 29/04/2023 12:48

@BMK it was genuinely the worst bit of the whole thing for me last time 🙈 I can’t imagine how much harder itl be this time with a toddler too! I remember the midwife or health visitor being at the door just as I was right in the middle of dealing with a horrific nappy upstairs. I froze for a minute and didn’t know how I could change it and answer the door. Didn’t want to leave him upstairs alone to answer it in case she thought I was a bad mum but also couldn’t carry him downstairs in that state! Really can’t imagine all of that again but with a toddler making things 10x worse 😂

overwork · 29/04/2023 15:23

Thanks @BMK, the weather has definitely cheered up now!

unluckyinlife · 29/04/2023 17:30

Hi everyone ☺️ has anyone got any plans for the weekend?

Us exchanging and completing last week didn't happen as planned, at the time it was so stressful but in hindsight it was probably a blessing as we still hadn't finalised our packing. 😀

I've spent today ordering the bed and sofa for the new house, sorting through the packing in the kitchen and ironing on labels to my son's new uniform.

I am so exhausted but glad that my mind is busy if I'm honest. I find between now and 28 weeks quite hard due to lack of appointments and my other pregnancies becoming difficult in the later stages.

I'm excited to move into our own home finally and start getting baby things eventually. We've avoided getting most things as we didn't want to transport them in the move!

DesertSnow · 29/04/2023 20:11

For those talking about clothes, I feel a bit at a loss as to what we'll need. I imagine if it's very hot when they're born, as it may well be, they'll probably be most comfy in just a nappy and little else? So might need less in the way of smaller sizes anyway. Hoping I'll figure it all out. I can imagine in most newborn baby houses the washing machine is on pretty much every day or at least every other day?

@unluckyinlife sorry that exchange didn't happen - when do you think it will now? Definitely makes sense to hold off on getting stuff till you've moved. We've been holding off because we don't want loads of things sitting around in boxes for months as we have very little space (and the cat would go mad over the boxes). I'm just resting this weekend as I've got flu - which is bad timing as DH is still away, but I'm past the worst of it now I think.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

@sally16 yes! Both of us seem to have been hit by an urgency to get on and clean so it’s ready for when he’s here. All well and good in theory but not so much in practice 😂 we’re wanting to decorate which isn’t helping because we’re still recovering from being ill and haven’t even bought the paint yet. After that we’ll be getting all his things in place and cleaning everything again.

@unluckyinlife I baked some biscuits yesterday for dd to decorate today which we did and she loved. We’ve tentative plans for tomorrow but depends on if we wake up and feel as exhausted as today 😂
sorry you didn’t get to exchange as planned, even if it ended up being a bit of a blessing it must have been disappointing and stressful.

@DesertSnow hope you recover quickly from having flu!

ChloeN · 29/04/2023 21:08

Is anyone else so bloody thirsty 🤣 I’ve always drank loads of water but I feel like I need a drink 24/7 so then I’m weeing even more than normal 🤦🏻‍♀️

sally16 · 29/04/2023 21:11

@Rowanandremy we've gutted the wardrobe tonight of old clothes and bedding.. 9 bin bags..
9!!!
But it looks so much better lol

Rowanandremy · 29/04/2023 21:24

@ChloeN I’m drinking a lot more tea (decaf of course) than I used to and strangely not drinking water like I used to which would sort the thirst problem out better than the tea 😂

@sally16 I dread going through my wardrobe but dw went through hers the other week. We’ve recently found vinted and started putting stuff on there, we kept loads and loads of dd’s baby and toddler clothes (I don’t even know how many bags we’ve got and we’ve some in the loft) which is all very clearly girls clothes - now we know we’re having a boy it’s pretty much all going. It’s giving us some pennies but it’s fuelled the need to get everything sorted 😂

sally16 · 29/04/2023 21:28

@Rowanandremy I've smelt aside a few things for vinted 😅 mostly DP haha!
I need to go through all DS old bits and see what's getting kept because I know there are bags and bags up the loft and I already can't be bothered 😂 a room at a time we've said haha!

Rowanandremy · 29/04/2023 21:54

@sally16 We’ve had some of those big laundry bags just full of baby clothes and toddler clothes 😂 the worst thing isn’t dragging them around, it’s going through them and just melting because I remember her in soo many of them and I’m really struggling to let them go 😂 we have a memory box for her and I keep trying to sneak some in but at the rate I’m going her memory box will be loft sized 🤣 A room at a time is a good way of doing things, we’ve been trying that so we don’t get too overwhelmed with everything that needs sorting

unluckyinlife · 30/04/2023 11:47

@DesertSnow we are meant to be exchanging Tuesday and completing Friday. We've been told that it's 100 percent happening so fingers crossed. I hope you feel better soon. 😘My husband starts working away during the week from the middle of May so I'm really worried about how I'm going to cope. We've probably only had 4 nights away from each other in the last 7 years! Xx

unluckyinlife · 30/04/2023 11:51

@Rowanandremy the biscuits sound so lovely. One of my DD favourite activities is to decorate plain digestives with white icing, icing pens and all different toppings. It keeps her busy for ages! I must remember that when I move and she's going mad with boredom as she won't be returning to a nursery. Just starting reception in September.

I hope you're not feeling too exhausted today! My mum is cooking a Sunday roast for our family and my brothers family today so thats nice. I'm trying to fill the time with moving bits and housework in between but energy is lacking! Xx
