@LR94 I'd say that's about standard. I can't see you getting one much cheaper than that. In Ireland and paid €490.

ttcttc · 05/04/2023 13:49

Is there a specific reason you are all having nipt tests or is it just for added reassurance ?

NSx · 05/04/2023 13:50

@EMcG3 with NHS they don’t mention gender but we want a surprise anyways so we’re not bothered. Now I’ve booked a private scan for Saturday as we want to finally tell our family on Easter Sunday but our next scan isn’t until 19th.
What a huge relief I’m so happy for us both, it’s such an anxious and stressful time. 🤍🥹

NSx · 05/04/2023 13:51

@ttcttc I had a baby last year with trisomy 13, which unfortunately is fatal.
I had my NIPT to rule out any chromosomal issues this time due to my history (even though it wasn’t hereditary)

EMcG3 · 05/04/2023 13:53

@LR94 £550, but I think was at the somewhat higher end / central London price. You're in the right range - they are not cheep.

EMcG3 · 05/04/2023 14:01

@ttcttc - me too, previous baby had trisomy 18 (Edwards) which is also fatal. I didn't do it for my previous pregnancies and would not have done it were it not for that. The testing available on the NHS is generally fine (just kind of slow and a bit hapless, in my experience).

SnookyPook · 05/04/2023 14:16

@NSx @EMcG3 SO happy for you both that you've had your results back as low risk! What a relief!! Hopefully you can both relax a bit and start enjoying your pregnancies more now. So happy 😊

I feel like I'm just plodding on here... No early scan, no NIPT... Hoping everything is ok and I won't regret it! 😬

NSx · 05/04/2023 14:21

@SnookyPook thank you so much it is a big weight off my shoulders, I was living in anxiety 🥹

to be honest you’re the lucky one, I wish my pregnancy was boring and normal 😂😂😂 atleast now I’ll be treated as a normal low risk pregnancy.
when is your scan? 🤍

ttcttc · 05/04/2023 14:23

@EMcG3 did that show on your nhs screening or not x

Alexandra07 · 05/04/2023 14:27

@LR94 I will pay for my nipt £475, but it includes a couple more tests for chromosomal anomalies. £400 is a good price, especially if a scan is included.

@ttcttc I am 41 so higher risk, I want to know as soon as possible if there are issues. NHS can miss some down syndrome cases. I didn't do the nipt with my first pregnancy.

NSx · 05/04/2023 14:33

@ttcttc mine did show on NHS combined screening last year. So I think this is also very accurate.

cruciverbalista · 05/04/2023 14:36

@NSx @EMcG3 so happy for you both xxx

Alexandra07 · 05/04/2023 14:38

@NSx @EMcG3 great news! So happy for you!

Can someone post the Facebook link for the ones who joined later?

Koalawhala · 05/04/2023 14:39

Hope your meeting goes well @monsteramunch and you get on the right medication get it under control.

NSx · 05/04/2023 14:40

@cruciverbalista @Alexandra07 💓💓💓 thank you both so much.

I know you’re doing the NIPT @Alexandra07 so I wish you the best results for when you get them xx

monsteramunch · 05/04/2023 15:01

Alexandra07 · 05/04/2023 12:05

@monsteramunch just to add, have a look here:
https://www.btf-thyroid.org/pregnancy-and-thyroid-disorders-guidance-for-patients
It's from the British thyroid association. TSH should be below 2.5 during pregnancy.

Thanks so much for this, I'll have a read up before my appointment. Dreading them saying it means I'll be at higher risk of allsorts.

monsteramunch · 05/04/2023 15:02

I'm so pleased for people who have had good news from their NIPT tests, it's brilliant to hear Flowers

EMcG3 · 05/04/2023 15:07

@ttcttc - yes, the NHS caught it in their regular test. My hormone levels were way off in my bloods at the 12 week scan, it just took quite some time to diagnose with certainty, so I was 18 weeks before I terminated the pregnancy. Fine, but for me, a very long time of limbo and I was exceedingly sick for all of it, probably related to the fact that my hormone levels were very wrong. In general, I think NHS testing is good - catch most things between the testing they do at 12 weeks and the abnormalities scan they do at 20 weeks.

Saturnsmoon · 05/04/2023 15:26

@NSx @EMcG3 aaaaw so pleased for both of you. What a relief that must be after your losses last time. Hope you enjoy the moment and sharing the happy news with family and friends 💕.

I had my bloods taken at 10 week. Do you think that will be the same ?

Facebook group link here for anyone who wants it @Alexandra07

Mldn · 05/04/2023 16:44

@ttcttc sorry to jump in… I’m on the November thread but look in here often as due early November!

I had my booking in appointment today & I asked if the bloods were for the combined test.

She said the bloods taken at your booking in/10 week appointment aren’t used for the combined scan, they take bloods at the 12 week scan that are used for that. The bloods taken today rule check me for the usual stuff & also blood type etc.

Unsure if it differs via trust. I am north London x

Jealousofchiliheeler · 05/04/2023 16:54

@Summer022 my general rule for telling are people I would want to have support from if I had a miscarriage. So currently I've told a couple of Mum's who were in my NCT group because we've had some really open chats about miscarriages and I've supported one of them through similar. Then also a small number of people at work including my manager, again people I would want support from if I had a miscarriage and needed time off. But I'm very luck in that my work are amazing and my job is very secure. I actually find family the hardest to tell because they I think they bring their own emotions into it (although that might just my family!)

DancingNancies · 05/04/2023 17:38

@Summer022 the only other person who knows at the moment apart from DH is my boss - I wanted her to organise my summer timetable around it, as it carries on to September - far better for my exam groups to have some consistency.

I'll probably tell my friend next week as she happens to be here when I need to nip off to my 12w scan but won't tell family until we've had the scan and all is well - I agree with @Jealousofchiliheeler, family are the hardest to tell because they get the most excited!

A couple of friends have announced pregnancies recently and I've felt such a fraud congratulating them but pulling a face when they've asked if we're having any more, it'll be a relief to finally tell someone!

I'm possibly end of October so could potentially be November too. I think I'm due 23/26th but early scan said 30th October ... could change I suppose!

I'd say they'll take some more at my scan then. The midwife did tell me at ten week but I can't remember 🤦🏼‍♀️. I'm Cumbria x
