Thank you @tigerlily0 !

Totally agree with everyone that movements seem random - surely if babies can still move inside till 36 weeks then movements wouldn't be stable until then??

Not sure if allowed, but does anyone have a natural baby shower referral they'd like to share (I get a discount and think you get a reward).

Bablond · 08/04/2023 20:30

Not sure I made sense here! I mean, if baby can move to being breech / head down - then you'd feel the movements in a different place... Hope it makes sense!

firsttimelondonmummy · 08/04/2023 21:17

@ImHopeful2023 this is my rule of thumb too.
As long as I feel him a couple times a day I’m happy.
@Belami sometimes I swear these little ones are sent to test our anxiety levels 😫

C1umsyGiraffe · 08/04/2023 21:46

@ImHopeful2023 that's what I'm going by! As long as I feel her each day I'm good, some days can be so quiet and some feel like she's having a party in there!

Had it last night and she properly kicked me so much it hurt, took me very much by surprise!

Givealittlebit · 08/04/2023 22:52

Sorry to hear so many are feeling rotten!

My backs shot to pieces but def not helped today by lugging furniture round ikea then spending the whole journey home awkwardly twisted in my seat to try and placate the toddler behind me! 😂

At my mums for Easter tomorrow with all the family so hoping for a bit more chance to just sit down! Anyone else got any fun plans?

firsttimelondonmummy · 09/04/2023 16:42

Happy Easter all! 🐰 🐣
Hope you’ve all had a wonderful day and eaten all the chocolate 🍫 ❤️

Happy easter everyone,

The lamb has been cooking in the slow cooker all day so we are about to tuck into that. Had a busy day tidying the garden and pressure washing the patio and driveway.. Very satisfing at first but my back is now buggered 😂 and I'm filthy 😂. So shower then roast lamb. I hope everyone has had a good day

Kelvie103 · 09/04/2023 20:09

We had my parents visit today and went for my 4d scan with them so here's my boy with his little chubby face. He's actually measuring about a week ahead, I think they said 67th percentile so just shows how inaccurate bump measurements are as mine was 2 weeks behind a few days ago. Was hard for them to get good pictures as he was being shy and had his face smooshed against the placenta all the time but glad we went and I can't stop looking at him now. He has my husband's mouth :)

I spent my Easter Sunday moving the chicken coop/run by myself. DH eventually had to step in and help as it took literally hours. He asked why all of a sudden I'm so productive and I said "I want the garden to be nice for the baby, I think I'm nesting..."
I wish I would nest inside!! We need another cot and I feel totally unprepared for a baby with still so much left to do! I don't have a hospital bag packed and we need another car. I have my buggy and car seat though so that's two things off the list. Love the 4d scan photos - I'm going to book one for next weekend - hope that seeing baby will shimmy me along organisation wise.. Blush

DrinkingAllTheGin · 09/04/2023 21:59

Spent Easter Sunday with family, had a lovely afternoon and now chilling out at home.

Tomorrow we are planning a batch cooking session. Bolognaise and lasagne.

Belami · 10/04/2023 08:18

Awww@Kelvie103 he's so cute!!! Beautiful scan 😍 I bet it was such a magical experience.

We have a 4D scan booked for this morning, can't wait to see his little face !!

Hi everyone, I keep being asked what we still need for the baby by friends and family. My honest answer is that I think we have everything that we need! At least to get us going in the early days. We have so much stuff already.

So my question is.... what is on your list that I might not have thought of? Or if this isn't your first baby, what could you not live without knowing what you know now, that I'm unlikely to own already?! Or something that's a bit of a luxury that you would treat yourself or a friend to?

The only things I can think of are books - we don't have any baby or kids books, and maybe some toys for the garden like a paddling pool, but even then they might be a bit small for it this year!

Thanks!

rllrsk8 · 10/04/2023 12:49

Just to add, I keep telling them they don't need to buy things, but they are very kindly quite insistent!

PurBal · 10/04/2023 16:18

@rllrsk8 small things that were given to us that seemed odd at the time but were helpful, mainly because you don’t know when you’ll need them and having them to hand is amazing: calpol (for the first vaccines), teether (no idea when the first teeth might erupt), bottle of premix formula (lifesaver at 3am when DS didn’t latch), colour changing thermometer for the bath, nail scissors, bath seat, clothing in bigger sizes eg 6-9 and 9-12 months (no one wants to buy the bigger baby stuff), baby grows with zips not poppers, decent sized muslins (not just 60cm squares).
My absolute favourite baby item is a change wallet/clutch (not a full bag), it’s big enough for a couple of nappies, wipes, nappy cream, and (when they’re small and prone to nappy explosions) a change of clothes. It makes any bag into a change bag, can be tossed under (or clipped to) the pushchair in a rush when you’re “only popping to the shop” or whatever. This is my go to gift for new parents.
Oo a mobile that can be clipped to cot/pushchair/car seat/bouncer: we borrowed Tiny Love Meadow Days but will buy one this time.
I feel like I’ve missed something obvious but I’m blaming that on the fact I’m not feeling well.

firsttimelondonmummy · 10/04/2023 17:20

@rllrsk8 we are in the same position and instead asked friends and family to donate to a children’s charity in his honour.
We think it’ll be a lovely thing to tell him when he’s older and we genuinely wanted to help kids in need given we are in a fortunate position where we can provide everything we need for our son 🥰

firsttimelondonmummy · 10/04/2023 17:22

In his honour sounds a bit weird but some of them don’t know his name yet.
Hopefully you got what I meant, my baby brain has my explanations at 30% capacity 😂

rllrsk8 · 10/04/2023 18:07

Thanks @PurBal for loads of ideas! Is the changing wallet thing the Skip Hop one, or similar? I haven't actually bought a changing bag yet mainly because I just can't decide what we need/want, but I do thing the travel ones are great. And clothes above 6m we don't have any of either, which is the point on my maternity leave when the funds will be dwindling so that's a good idea too. You're right, everyone wants to buy the teeny tiny things!

And @firsttimelondonmummy also a great idea, a really lovely gesture. I wouldn't say money is no worry for us, but certainly some sort of charity donation where you can see what difference the donation has made would be lovely and a really nice early lesson to explain about helping others in need.

rllrsk8 · 10/04/2023 18:08

And @PurBal hope you feel better soon x

firsttimelondonmummy · 10/04/2023 19:02

@rllrsk8 we are supporting https://www.worldvision.org.uk/donate-childhood-rescue/
I think it’s really impactful that they show what each donation amount can do and its really helps you visualise the support in action.

My mum has just delivered the first load of hand-me-down clothes she has washed. I really don't need to buy any more sleep suits, vests, etc for newborn or 0-3. We have hundreds of white and neutral in all style, or somit seems. Asking for 6+ is a great idea. Esp as we don't know if a boy or girl. I have picked up some 3-6 Christmas sleepsuits in the sales!

BobbySD345 · 10/04/2023 20:23

@rllrsk8 Have you got the tommee tippee bath thermometer and the groegg room thermometer? A proper Braun digital in-ear thermometer. The rockit looks good for the pram. Trying to think what else. Black and white book or cards as it's the first thing newborns show interest in. Nappy caddy for upstairs and downstairs. Bath caddy. The microwave sterilising bags are brilliant. Travel changing mat because the baby change units in public toilets are grim. Proper fluffy bath towels as opposed to the hooded baby towels as they are too small so quickly. I will keep thinking!

BobbySD345 · 10/04/2023 20:48

@DrinkingAllTheGin I went with 6-9 for the Xmas outfits and now thinking they'll be too big !! Got some real bargains in the sale but they might drown her.

Is anyone else feeling like baby is really low already? I feel absolutely enormous. I'm 30 weeks but definitely look more like 35 weeks and she is so low.

BobbySD345 · 10/04/2023 20:50

Photographic evidence lol
