@SleepySlumber i think most people have had this struggle at some point! It’s almost something you have to persist with until they get used to it but I’ve found this helps:

• I put the T-shirt I’ve worn that day over the mattress, almost as a mattress cover
• I put baby in the Moses basket when he’s fast asleep, partially because we have to keep him upright for 30 mins after feeding
• white noise
• dark room
• trial and error to find the right nighttime clothes/sleeping bag/blanket combination to keep them warm but not too hot
• some people pre-warm the crib with a hot water bottle. I found a sleeping bag helps with this
• resettling with head strokes/shushing as needed

Hi ladies, 40+4 today and been for a second attempt at a sweep!
Does anyone have any success stories?
She said she managed to stretch but couldn't quite sweep all the way round, cervix is soft snd beginning to open bur she just didn't do it as well as she would've liked! Im really hoping it still works. Booked in for a 3rd go on Sunday and if nothing happens before, induction on Good Friday! 13 days over 😭 I hope it doesn't get to that though.

I know baby will be here when ready but I can still think wishfully haha xx

@Missy95 feel you! Had first sweep last Tuesday on due date. 2nd sweep tomorrow. Induction Sunday. Really hoping sth happens before Sunday.

How many cm dilated were you?

First midwife said 3 sweeps, 2nd midwife is my usual one and she was reluctant to do 3 given everything low risk until now.

@JB2021 is this your first too? I think my
Midwife is feeling a bit sorry for me offering me 3 😂 she was trying to get me in for induction earlier but they couldn't get me in!
She said she thinks I was 1cm but couldn't fully tell. She didn't seem too confident about it working. But said its soft, opening and baby is low so thats all good!

I have just started with some cramps so really hoping they progress! Xx

@Missy95 yes it's my first. Really don't want induction.
I was so relaxed after the first sweep (got given aromatherapy too) and had cramping and thought it was going to work. Fingers firmly crossed for tomorrow

@JB2021 fingers crossed for you! I've been bouncing on my ball and walking up & down the stairs, really hoping for some movement haha xx

@Missy95 I've done walks totalling 25 minutes today plus 25 minutes bouncing. I'm running later (well, run walk)

I keep thinking oooh this is it but nothing.....

Im trying to enjoy the peace and resting, and staying positive but if one more person messages me to say THEY are impatient, I may just turn my phone off forever 🫠 xx

@Missy95 feel you on that too! I posted on here about it the other day.

One family member didn't know my due date as I knew what they'd be like. She now knows I'm overdue. Message last week asking if I'm OK, I just replied and said yes thanks, are you!!! She then wanted to know when I was seeing the midwife next. Like what does that matter. My friends know due date but are at least leaving me alone. If I get to Sunday and induction I'm not telling people as could still take days!!!!

First sweep was Monday, second sweep tomorrow 🤞
I did turn my phone off this morning! I'm sick of the random messages digging for info 😡 if baby was here, we would have told people!

Im glad its not just me feeling irritated by it! It wouldn't seem so bad if people actually asked me how I am doing, they dont even bother to ask. Just 'wheres the baby? Hurry up, im impatient, I want a cuddle' ... I went to the shop the other day and someone asked 'is that baby still not here'. Clearly bloody not, or did you think I left it at home with the dog? 🤣🫠

Another message asking if there's 'any movement' from someone I already said no to this morning 😡

@Missy95 @dmb91 glad its not just me getting annoyed at people! Waiting to tell my mum I won't be telling her when I'm being induced!!

@JB2021 @dmb91 Ive said to people that I will let them know, but they still insist on telling me to hurry up everyday 🫠

@Missy95 we even set up some group WhatsApps to prevent this - so we could send one message once baby here. We have a family one and a friends one but seems some family don't get it!!!

2nd sweep done. Was a student which I was fine with as she's been at last few appointments. Didn't feel as thorough as the first one I had (mid wife led centre totally different midwife). But my usual midwife said lots of progress since that one which was 1.5 weeks ago. 2 to 3 cm dilated and Bishop score of 8. Now please can sth happen before induction on Sunday......positive stories please......

@JB2021 thats really good that theres progress! I Hope something starts for you before Sunday! Sounds like everything is moving in the right direction!

I have a third attempt of a sweep on Sunday but have been losing some bloody mucus all day today so reaaaally hoping I wont make it to that appointment haha!

I'm also just back from my second sweep with bishop score of 8 and induction booked for Sunday!

What is it about induction you're worried about?

@dmb91 just prefer not to be induced. Although would prefer induction over c section.

Touch wood my pregnancy so far has been pretty plain sailing so I never thought I'd even get to sweeps. Just know others who have had rougher pregnancies and went into labour naturally. I know shouldn't compare plus the longer it goes on the more I think something is going to go wrong! FTM worries.

I was really worried about induction, would have preferred a section to induction but the midwife I saw on Monday explained that with a bishop score of 8 they would go straight to breaking waters.
No artificial hormones that could take days to work which made me feel so much better about induction!

@dmb91 she didn't explain induction in relation to Bishop score but having read online I've read that 8 they break waters and this is what midwife said. I'm bouncing on the birthing ball and continuing to walk.

After my last sweep I was really relaxed to I've bought all my favourite foods again in the hope it works again this time.

Had period style cramps last night which I thought was going to be it but no luck. Everything I think ooooh then it's a no!

Section for me is very last resort purely because I will find the recovery time hard as I'm an active person.

Yes my first and probably my last 😂 I've not enjoyed anything about pregnancy!

I had cramps the night before and after my first sweep which never came to anything, never thought I'd get excited by every little pain and niggle.
It's the lower backache that's bothering me most atm, I can't find a single comfortable position to be in 😫

Max Michael Everatt arrived this morning at 3.34am weighing in at 8lb5oz. Currently in neonatal having some assistance with his breathing.
