@TeddyBeans 2 days have been spent waiting for someone to break my waters, but they are short staffed and obviously emergencies take priority. But thankfully they have decided against a C-section!!!

Missy95 · 24/03/2023 20:26

Im not sure how anyone runs in general, never mind when pregnant 🤣
Due date tomorrow! Went for a 4.5mile walk (waddle) today. Fingers crossed baba gets moving.! 🥰 xx

5 days 😭 I hope things progress for you, bless you. Sounds gruelling but will all be worth it in the end 🥰 xx

Blocklynn · 24/03/2023 20:34

@BabyTalbot1 thats so long, hope things start to progress more for you now.

@JB2021 I did a 4.5k walk today and was fine, I’m 18 days in now.

JB2021 · 24/03/2023 20:46

@Blocklynn thank you! I'm still fine walking 4 miles, it's just how soon after I'll be able to walk 5k. I'm parkrunning in about 50 mins still

Blocklynn · 24/03/2023 20:51

@JB2021 if I had taken my time walking I could have done it by about day 10 I think. Was in hospital until day 7 so that definitely took it out of me as was basically just in my room for a week.
If we were better at getting sorted in the morning I would be going to walk parkrun tomorrow.

JB2021 · 24/03/2023 20:58

@Blocklynn thank you. Hope you're back at parkrun soon

1strodeo · 25/03/2023 10:37

Hi all, I've been lurking for sometime now 😄 It's great to see that alot of you have had successful births, congratulations to all new mums and hang in there to those still waiting like me 😩.

I'm 40+1 today and was due yesterday on the 24th of March. I was hoping to have given birth by now, especially as I've been feeling immense pressure for several weeks now which has increased and also think I lost my mucus plug at 38 weeks. I have a sweep booked on Tuesday 28th as I'm worried about going over too much; does anyone have any experience with sweeps, anyone had a successful one past their due date?

JB2021 · 25/03/2023 12:17

I was due 21st had sweep on this date. I didn't find it that uncomfortable. Lost mucas since. Another sweep booked for 41 weeks. Hoping sth happens before then....

AK93 · 25/03/2023 12:22

Welcome @1strodeo ! My sweeps weren’t successful as they couldn’t reach, the last attempt I found too painful (only during the procedure) to the point I now don’t want the one booked for tomorrow (I’ll be 41 weeks) nor the induction that’s booked because inductions require a lot of checking to know what’s happening. Most people say they don’t find sweeps too painful and just a bit uncomfortable, that will obviously differ for individuals. Looking at as much I can, it seems they are generally more successful if your body is ready enough in the first place, which if you have lost your mucus plug you might be more favourable. Mucus plug can apparently regenerate though. Some people have some signs that maybe it’s done something but then it stops, so be prepared for that too.

Hopefully there’s a few who can give you more positive success stories but I do think it really is a case of how reachable your cervix is and whether they can get anything in! They can try to massage around or near it to try to stimulate the hormones but again no saying if there will be any success. Fingers crossed for you it is! 🤞

dmb91 · 25/03/2023 12:24

I have a sweep booked for Monday when I'll be 40weeks, hopefully cervix will be favourable and they'll be able to do it. I lost a lot of mucus plug 2/3 weeks ago and I've been losing a crazy amount of mucus plug the last couple of days too, no bloody show in it yet though. I think the plug can regrow 🤷‍♀️

Cdoc · 25/03/2023 14:56

Welcome @1strodeo! I was booked for induction at 40+1 as they were predicting a big baby. I had 3 sweeps, at 39+2, +4 and +6. With each one my cervix improved slightly and by the time I went in for my induction, they were able to go straight to breaking my waters (first baby so they were surprised by this). 8 hours after breaking waters baby arrived. I didn’t lose my mucus plug til after the second sweep, but spent hours on the yoga ball and did lots of walking to help (and sex!).

1strodeo · 25/03/2023 16:40

Hi guys, thanks for your responses.

@JB2021 good luck with your next sweep! Hopefully you go into labour before then, myself included! Lol

@AK93 sorry to hear your sweeps weren't successful, that's abit disheartening, but as you said they seem to be more favourable the more prepared your body is, e.g low/soft cervix.

@dmb91 good luck for your sweep!

@Cdoc thanks. Surprised the 3 sweeps didn't bring on labour, but I guess it was before 40 weeks. It seemed to have helped things progress for the induction though, so I guess that's good. I have an induction booked also for 41 weeks if the sweep isn't successful, but really don't want to get that far along without giving birth! This pregnancy has been so hard, FTM so didn't know what to expect 😩

I keep having false Labour signs aswell which is so frustrating and immense bum pressure 😄 so baby must be engaged pretty low by now.

Cdoc · 25/03/2023 17:08

@1strodeo i was surprised too! They got me from barely 1cm to 2-3cm dilated but absolutely no regular contractions. I completely agree, FTM and the midwives were telling me each time you won’t get to the next sweep 😩fingers crossed you will though, it’s so hard playing the waiting game x

1strodeo · 25/03/2023 17:14

Yes the waiting game is the hardest, not quite knowing if it's a couple of days or another week or 2 at 40 weeks!

We're all really close now though, so just a matter of time 😊 (would be easier if I could sleep! Lol)

SleepySlumber · 25/03/2023 19:32

Ugh yes the lack of sleep is driving me crazy. I’ve had the most horrific acid reflux and last night it was so bad I sat downstairs all night til 5.30am and then went up to bed.

2 days left for me now and then c section on Tuesday morning, going in at 7.30am so hopefully will be meeting little lady early that morning.

It feels so weird to think that this pregnancy is finally going to be over, so uncomfortable and ready for it to be done! So weird I’ll have a baby!!! Can’t believe so many of you have your babies now…it’s hard being due at the end of the month and still waiting 😂

Deut28 · 25/03/2023 23:26

41 weeks and started induction this afternoon. Asked for the balloon, rather than pessaries because it meant I could go home/there's no risk of hyper-stimulation. Hate having internal examinations so asked for gas and air, which made it a much happier experience! Balloon came out on its own a few hours later along with my mucus plug. Feeling achey but still waiting for contractions to kick in. It's going to be a long night...!

AK93 · 26/03/2023 00:14

@Deut28 good luck! Did gas and air just make you not think about how uncomfortable examination was or did it help you not feel pain/the discomfort? Pain relief is my only hope of getting through those if I have to have them as I'm not good enough at breathing and I'm totally put off from my last experience x

Deut28 · 26/03/2023 02:19

@AK93 A bit of both. Took the edge off the pain (not completely gone) but also gave a lovely 'far away' feeling, like it was all happening to someone else. It might also help with your breathing as the mouthpiece makes it really audible/gives you something to focus on. I know it can make some women feel dizzy or sick though. It wears off really quickly once you stop, so could always ask for it to be available and stop if you don't like it.

JB2021 · 27/03/2023 08:44

How is everyone?

I've been fine up to now but due date was 21st and now I'm just fed up and sick of people asking if I'm OK!!!!! First baby for me so knew they'd probably be late.

Had a sweep on due date, another booked for Thursday. Induction would be Sunday and that's what I want to avoid so it feels like there's a deadline now. Think that's qhat makes it more stressful which doesn't help.

AK93 · 27/03/2023 09:46

I've had a lot more pressure during the night as if baby boy is trying to push down on my pelvis. I've had a crampy kind of feeling on my left side of pelvis numerous times throughout the weeks possibly where he might dig in, but last night had simialr crampy/pressure feeling more in the middle. I'm hoping maybe my body is getting somewhere and I may have a chance of natural labour even if its later than they think it should be!
Got to keep an eye on blood pressure as midwife said the first reading she did was high (I don't know what that was though) I can only see the 2nd reading she did which was pretty much my normal. I tried my parents monitor last night and it was the highest I've ever seen so not sure whether to trust it or not but if so then it sounded like the midwife was suggesting I may have to go to hospital. Hoping it's lower today as I have been feeling stressed and hoping it's just that that contributed to higher readings.

@JB2021 it definitely gets harder once you get past 'due date'! The pressure to have procedures you don't want, messages asking whether baby is here yet, not knowing if you'll go into labour naturally or not.... hard to relax when thats what you need to do!!

JB2021 · 27/03/2023 10:04

@AK93 I've not told certain family members my due date as I know what they are like. One has found out via my mum that I'm now over due,cue messages of how are you to which I replied fine how are you and then they asked when my next midwife appointment is. My mum sees no issue with this. I find it annoying and nosey and then when I text said family member about something unrelated the first reply was that's not the message I wanted. Oh how I wish I could share my true thoughts! It's not worth the fall out though. I keep delaying replies to people messaging on purpose now ......

Rose429 · 27/03/2023 11:17

Hi everyone, seems like a lot of you still waiting…

Our little lady arrived on 23 March at 11:17 - 2 days overdue. Nature labour with 4 hours of latent labour, 10 hours of active labour to 4cm dilated and then epidural. Baby was born 2 hours later after a few pushes luckily, because her heart rates dipped up and down and we would have been given C section if I hadn’t pushed her out so quickly. I can’t recommend epidural enough!

Good luck to those who are still waiting!
