Congratulations @Babynum2 - so glad you’re together now!

had an appointment with midwife yesterday to discuss birth plan. She wasn’t able to tell if baby is breech or not (I’ve been very uncomfortable with something solid in my ribs!!). She’s coming back out on Monday to check again but thinks she’ll send me for a scan to be sure. Am I weird for hoping baby is breech so that the decision is taken out of my hands on how to birth? As I presume they’d just book me in for a section if they are breech. I’m feeling very all over the place when trying to decide how to birth and also so anxious about how I’d cope with the pain of labour 😩

Perexi · 15/02/2023 11:25

Awww @Babynum2 he's adorable 🥰 hope you're both doing ok now?

I just had my 34 week appointment all good although the private scan I had not only got the placenta position wrong hes is not head down at all which is why I keep getting kicked in the bladder! Apparently it's a good thing for me as means he's not putting lot's of weight on the placenta. I had my 36 week appointment moved to 37 so we can talk about the results of the scan and if it's not moved.

beatingheartbaby · 15/02/2023 11:54

@LifeOfRiley1 I'm in a similar position, I have a scan on Monday 36+6 to check if baby still breech and part of me is thinking I really hope they still are because in that case I've decided I want a section rather than for them to try and turn her. I know it's not the easy way out but gives you back a sense of control I suppose as you can then plan your date, you can prep for what's going to happen etc x

Mine is breech and has been head and feet up (basically folded in half) for a long time now so very unlikely to move by my 36 week scan. I'm secretly hoping she doesn't turn around as there is something comforting about being given a c section date and knowing how the process goes. Even knowing the recovery could be harder is okay with me as I can prepare for it!

@babynum2 so adorable, I'm glad he's with you now 🥰

Cuppasoupmonster · 15/02/2023 12:17

I know what you mean about having things taken out of your hands - before my placenta moved, I was coming round to the idea of a c section as although second labours are supposed to be easier, there’s always a huge element of unpredictability. Like how long it will take, how bad the pain will be, what monitoring you need.

I’m so excited to finish work on Friday, it’s been a real slog since day 1 with the hypermesis and now I’m just so tired and achey all the time. I’ve got some Nosecco in the fridge which I’m going to crack open after I put my out of office on!

Dreamingof3 · 15/02/2023 12:20

@ChristmasJumpers @LifeOfRiley1 @beatingheartbaby I know what you mean, I've had 2 sections and planning a vbac this time, but there is definitely a part of me that is hoping something takes the decision out of my hands, as at least with a planned section I know what to expect!

ChristmasJumpers · 15/02/2023 12:27

@Cuppasoupmonster I'm so jealous, it's exactly 4 weeks today until my first day of mat leave. I have fully checked out in my mind so I'm glad I WFH and nobody can tell I'm doing the bare minimum that I have to do!

ChristmasJumpers · 15/02/2023 12:28

@Dreamingof3 were your previous c sections planned or emergency? I'm just wondering how the recovery was for you? My midwife really plays it down other than to say I'll need DHs help for a week or two and won't be able to drive for a few weeks

LifeOfRiley1 · 15/02/2023 12:41

@ChristmasJumpers @Dreamingof3 @beatingheartbaby it’s so reassuring knowing I’m not the only one feeling this way! I’m a first time mum so I don’t know what to expect with a section either but I think with a section, the element of control and knowing when it’s going to happen is a bit easier for my head to process. Although the recovery does scare me a little..

Dreamingof3 · 15/02/2023 12:41

@ChristmasJumpers first was an 'emergency' due to failed induction....so that's my only experience of labour, not that it got very far 😂 and second was planned. Planned was an easier recovery but I'd say that was mostly due to being better rested and prepared for it.
The recovery isn't easy, but it also isn't terrible (but it's also all I know!) The first few days are the worst and then I would say within about 2 weeks most things are back to normal and it's the heavier duty stuff that takes a bit longer

Cats23 · 15/02/2023 12:49

@TeddyBeans yes went and got checked, all was well and today....movement increase ofcourse!

Ive consultant ,monotering and growth scan Tomorrow , I think Im going to try and get an inductionat 37 weeks if they allow- the worry of reduced movement is making me scared and anxious and Im only 34 weeks still.

@Babynum2
.....So sweet! Glad he with you now.

Saltandpepperr · 15/02/2023 13:26

I hope you don't mind me making a mark, my work colleague told me to join mumsnet as I'm a first time mum and have no idea what to expect. I have my 37 week appointment tomorrow but I have been having very watery discharge for a week now mainly evenings the triage lady said this is normal but was wondering if anyone else has? Also lots of bump tightening! We are having a surprise I'm due 6th March.

Suchardchoccy · 15/02/2023 13:44

Hi I hope you all don’t mind me joining in on the conversation! I’ve been reading the conversation for a week or so 😊 I’m 39+1 today, due on 21st feb. I’m so impatient to meet DD2. Booked in at the midwifery led unit. DD1 was born on her due date so I’m hoping I don’t go over this time either. It’s interesting reading what everyone has been saying and about everyone’s different plans!

Congratulations to anyone who has already had their babies!

Yes, my midwife said if it was leaking amniotic fluid, it would be constant.

havanamama · 15/02/2023 14:50

I've got 3 weeks till due date so trying to use this time for as much relaxation as possible - got a date, manicure and a haircut this weekend, as well as a movie with a friend. ☺️ started reading a new book too, which I hope to finish before baby arrives.

Received the carpal tunnel wrist supports, so will try those out tonight.

ChristmasJumpers · 15/02/2023 16:18

Some of baby's movements have been really quick today, probably nothing to worry about but has anyone else had this? The best way to describe it is when you do a whole body shiver, it's like her body is flinging around at double speed for 2 seconds at a time

iratepirate · 15/02/2023 16:22

I have that sometimes, @ChristmasJumpers - like little
speedy flutters?

ChristmasJumpers · 15/02/2023 16:23

Yes just like that, they're so quick!! And because her head, feet and hands like to hang out under my ribs I don't know which bit if her is moving! I had a fleeting worry that she was having a seizure earlier

Rose429 · 15/02/2023 16:48

We went out for dinner yesterday and half way through it baby girl had hiccups that I could feel high near my ribs. I freaked out a little bit because she’s been head down for the last 7 weeks and hiccups are normally really low down. I spent 15 mins trying to spin/push her head down and probably freaked out my in laws and people in the restaurant “Not today, you’re not going to turn breech on me baby girl!” 😂

I've had those I think 2x in the past few weeks. I said to my midwife and she didn't seem bothered

Oh I’m horrendous for pushing things back down. I can’t bear it when he sticks a foot out and I can feel it near my hip! DH thinks I’m mad and should let him flop around in there but it’s so uncomfortable!

Just had my daily cup of Final Push tea, I can’t say I will be missing it after the baby is born tbh 😬 about to do a shot of insulin so I can have my dates as well.

Just booked in my daughter’s birthday party for in a few months; very cute to think her baby brother will be in tow! Those with other kids, will you be buying them a ‘gift’ from the baby? I’m thinking of buying DD a toy ‘from the baby’ as she loves presents (who doesn’t!) and thinking it will make a good peace offering to get them off to a good start. She starts school in September, plus we’re hoping to move house, so it’s going to be a very big year for her so going for the soft touch.

TeddyBeans · 15/02/2023 17:26

@Cuppasoupmonster DS has mentioned getting a robot that moves by itself so I found a cheap science museum one on Amazon that little lady will 'give' to him. He's bought her a little toy zebra to bring with him when he meets her for the first time 🥰

It's been over an hour since I had my reflexology and nothing significant has happened 🤣 I didn't really expect it to but it would have been nice. 11 days til due date and I'm really starting to think she'll be one of the first to go overdue 😭😭😭

AK93 · 15/02/2023 17:43

@ChristmasJumpers I noticed this a few times too, I mentioned it to midwife as I was wondering if it could be seizures. She said if it's not continuous/ constant should be fine but couldn't really tell me what it might be. I don't think hiccups as I think he's had those and was rhythmic, not the quick 2 second weirdness! It happened a few times but not every day. Hopefully all ok anyway!

Saltandpepperr · 15/02/2023 18:59

@TeddyBeans I will be right behind you I think. Its my first and I keep thinking this is it because I have so many tightening, lightning pains and pressure but nothing seems to happen. Be interesting to see if midwife thinks baby is engaged tomorrow. I don't mind being overdue just don't want a big baby they measured my bump only once at 28 weeks and said it was measuring 30 but that's normal and then they haven't done again since.
