@Bobduncan baby's eyesight is terrible after birth, the high contrast makes it a lot easier for them to see what they're looking at. It's like brain training for them

I walked to my local big shop (a la Sarah and Duck - it's what we call supermarkets now) it's about 30 minutes walk on a normal day. Probably took me 45-50 minutes to waddle my way there. Hoping all the walking will get her moooooooving!! Knackered now after a disturbed night so watching Belfast midwives as someone suggested yonks ago. Will probably have a nap before school run this afternoon

I’m aching now every time I stand up

Room4onemore · 23/02/2023 11:01

And this heartburn has taken a different level, all day now. I don’t want to eat or drink cause of it

TeddyBeans · 23/02/2023 11:02

@Room4onemore get a prescription for omeprazole lovely, it's helped me no end

MoronikaFaceache · 23/02/2023 11:03

@muminlndn congratulations!
@TeddyBeans fingers crossed things get moving soon..!
I’ve just been pottering about, and doing the school run.. don’t think I could face a 50min walk, and that’s only one way!!?
@JTB123 good luck with induction!
I don’t have mw appt til 40wks..😟 but all I’m getting is major heartburn, loose bowels, and sporadic achey twinges..

TeddyBeans · 23/02/2023 11:05

@MoronikaFaceache I cheated and got the bus back 🤣

Had another ctg thing done this morning and they've seen a bit of a dip in heart rate, also picking up tightenings. Now waiting to be scanned by the reg even tho had a scan last night so not really sure what's happening 🤷‍♀️.

Good luck to those on induction today & who's also in for reduced movements hospitals seems crazy busy at the moment. I'm in Northern Ireland I was admitted at 11.30pm and from that time until 5am there was 8 admissions to maternity wards not including Labour wards! 1 doctor on in the assessment unit who was called into emergencies in theatres 😳

TeddyBeans · 23/02/2023 11:46

@Eastybaby19 sounds hectic 😬 hopefully the dip was just a one off otherwise they might bring you forward. You were being induced weren't you?

OP posts:
Saltandpepperr · 23/02/2023 11:52

@Eastybaby19 it's the same here the main midwife on ward said its the busiest they have been in a long time. I have just come off monitor they are happy with baby but waiting to see doctor for a "plan" even though we already had one in place? Was supposed to just be a sweep today then induction next Friday hoping it stays the same.

Splashh · 23/02/2023 11:56

@Eastybaby19 good luck, sounds like baby might be coming soon!

I also went in for reduced movement yesterday, it’s my third time but the last time I came in was 8 weeks ago. I find the whole experience really off putting. They go on and on about coming in but there’s a lot of fear mongering.

My CTG was good and baby has been moving more since but they still tried to admit me last night and push for early induction only because I’m at term (38w) and have some risk factors - all of which under control/no new symptoms. I felt like they got so jumpy and emotional when I refused. Then midwife starts talking about how they just have to protect themselves from litigation. So frustrating. I should be able to make my own informed decisions without fear of reprisal

Eastybaby19 · 23/02/2023 12:02

@TeddyBeans I have an elective section booked for this Monday (27th) hoping I can get out and come back!

@Saltandpepperr the waiting about is a nightmare isn't it, soo busy in here today again the reg I seen is doing DOU clinic, Ward rounds & emergencies so told me I could be in for a long wait just for a scan! Hopefully your plan dosnt change I'm hoping mine dosnt either have a lovely weekend planned with hubby and 3 year old son so 🤞.

@Splashh stand your ground with them, weigh up all options I was pushed for induction last time and it was awful ended in emergency section anyways!

Suchardchoccy · 23/02/2023 12:05

@TeddyBeans you were right!

I got my sweep on Tuesday morning about 11:45, those pains were contractions after all and my waters broke on the sofa at around 17:45, the contractions suddenly got more frequent and more intense, got to the hospital at about 19:00, the midwife didn’t even need to examine me she put me straight in the pool on the gas and air and I delivered her at 19:51!! Another one born on her due date 😂 I had to stay overnight for observations but came home yesterday at 4pm. DD1 is home from nursery so we can all be together - Sybil Victoria we named her 😍 she is currently asleep in her Moses basket. I don’t know what the midwife did to me but bloody hell!! I hope you all get to have your babies in your arms soon 😍😍

Saltandpepperr · 23/02/2023 10:17

Congratulations @muminlndn
@Eastybaby19 also being sent up to triage for monitoring and a sweep. Came for my complex care app and she said she's not satisfied that I said baby has got slower over the last week and I should have called. I just thought because baby is bigger they have less room to move she told me that it's the case for them doing big movement but should still be feeling him regular. Currently waiting to be admitted and its very busy and hot!

Yes you should be feeling baby at the same frequency just the movement might feel more like rolling, pushing, rather than kicks

Dreamingof3 · 23/02/2023 12:19

Congratulations @Suchardchoccy !
And congratulations@muminlndn I hope you're recovering well. I had polyhydramnios with my eldest and she was taken round to scbu for a tube down her nose to check stomach acids or something? But all was absolutely fine, I hope her tests come back fine and you're home soon x

Room4onemore · 23/02/2023 12:53

Congratulations @Suchardchoccy xx

LaForza101 · 23/02/2023 13:15

So many babies already! Congratulations to all the new mums since I last checked the thread 🎉

I can't wait to join you now. I awoke from a nap to a lovely surprise call from the hospital saying they were finally setting up my c section date. All being well it should be Sunday and I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow

Saltandpepperr · 23/02/2023 13:22

@Suchardchoccy congratulations!! I hope my sweep works like that but probably not knowing my luck. I've just left after having it and didn't think it was to bad just uncomfortable I'm 2cm and my waters were bulging so she said if I don't go on my own over the next few days when I come in for my induction next week they will just break my waters instead of giving me the pessary and hopefully it works.

JTB123 · 23/02/2023 13:30

Awww congratulations @Suchardchoccy ♥️♥️

JTB123 · 23/02/2023 13:30

So much jelly discharge today it's give me the ICK really bad, I'm terrible with this kind of stuff 🤢😂

Rainbowbaby23 · 23/02/2023 13:42

Have to pack up everything I own and move into a flat tomorrow, if that doesn’t put me into labour I don’t know what will😂

@Suchardchoccy congratulations

TeddyBeans · 23/02/2023 14:15

@Suchardchoccy amazing news congratulations!! Beautiful name too 😍 Hopefully the next sweep I have will do the same for me. I don't see her coming before her due date now, she seems far too comfortable

@LaForza101 oh I'm pleased they've finally got you sorted out!

@Rainbowbaby23 eek good luck! Hope the move goes smoothly and sets things in motion for you!

Just out of appt. Scan was good, baby kicking all over , still back to back.
My usual consultant is off and the guy today didnt want to give induction date till next scan next week via my usual consultant - Will be 37-38 weeks though, so 2 weeks time.
I still feel odd, back ache and pressure v.much present, mw said there is every chance it might be early labour signs OR just baby getting ready! Which I knew could be either....I guess wait and see really
