@Perexi I feel the same I don't want to overload bags if it's not needed but don't want to forget anything I might want or need if its a section. My scan is on Thursday (feel like I've been waiting forever! It was pushed back a week so awkwardly between 34&36 weeks - I'm 35w today) but not sure whether consultant will help make a decision then or leave me longer! Guess it might depend how much weight little man has put on too. I am finding the not being able to feel organised difficult though!

Surely the hospital bag would be the same for vaginal and surgical birth,no?

You'll still need clothing, toiletries, you'll still be bleeding, etc.
or are you referring to peri bottles, cooling pads, spritz for bits type things?

Oooo good luck, did you have one at 32? I got mixed up as I thought I had a 36 week scan when I was at the hospital but it was 39 (bit pointless tbh) so had to get my midwife to organise a 36 week one and have been told to take results straight to the triage doctor for them to review the results and make a decision.

It's really tough, ive packed his bag just mine that's up in the air!

JTB123 · 12/02/2023 21:19

I've had literally no signs at all this late pregnancy, altho same with my first until I started contracting randomly at 40+2.

I'm so over it, 38 weeks this weds and just want her here, hoping she would come early with being my second 🥲 I spend all day symptom spotting I swearrrrr

JB2021 · 12/02/2023 21:21

@Blocklynn you can go anytime from 36 weeks to view is what I was told. I'm assuming it's the same birth centre (St Mary's).

I viewed mid January. Midwife needs to sign off a risk assessment at 36 weeks. I'd keep pushing if I was you. I had to for them to fit me into a meet the midwife session and even then they fit me in there were only 3 other couples there.

Happy for you to DM if you want

Likely to be in longer I think so more clothes, wouldn't need some of the big t-shirts I bought for labour etc. Might need smaller baby clothes if early. Of course there is a big crossover in some bits.

TeddyBeans · 12/02/2023 21:36

@LizziBee good luck for tomorrow, hope it all goes smoothly for you 😘

Dropped DS at my parents this evening for a sleepover so I can go to my midwife appointment alone tomorrow. As lovely as it is that DS wants to 'help' at the appointments, he definitely hinders the poor midwife's ability to do her job 🤦‍♀️

@havanamama I made a basic list which would be the same for both but it's the potential extras (both for me & baby) of a longer stay or bits like you've mentioned, some people say they were sore below even with a c section but I have no experience to know or have any clue what's needed. I plan on taking a backpack style changing bag and small suitcase so there's not so much carrying to do (by either me or partner) and making an extras bag as it doesn't look like everything will fit from what I've put in already, just struggling to get my head around it!

AK93 · 12/02/2023 21:55

@Perexi I had a placenta location check scan booked since 20 weeks for 34 weeks (I believe most are around 32 though), a growth scan at 28 weeks which showed placenta was still low, wasn't offered anything in between but the placenta location one was changed so I've had to wait another week for it. As I'll be getting close to 36 weeks I don't know if they'll think about making a decision then or booking another scan to check things if it hasn't moved/moved enough. Apparently engagement was 3/5 on Tuesday with fundal height measuring as 36 (I do have my own bit of extra belly fat though) and that was the day before waking up feeling heavier and the bladder pressure, so hoping those things will be considered.

AK93 · 12/02/2023 22:00

@TeddyBeans there was a lady with her 2 daughters when I went for my appt, let's just say the younger was rather active and I could tell from her mum's face she was dreading how she would be in the room 😆 I would have offered to watch them if it wasn't for being called in for my own appt lol

Thanks, yes it’s St Mary’s. I was booked in at 36 weeks exactly but they have cancelled that session due to staffing issues.
The message I got said they have automatically rebooked me on the next one but that’s not until 2 weeks after when I’ll be 38 weeks.
When I rang to book initially they did say 1-2-1 appointments were a possibility if I didn’t want to go to the group session so I’ll ask about that when I call them tomorrow.

TeddyBeans · 12/02/2023 22:07

@AK93 if she's anything like DS is, she'll be playing with the knitted boob, asking to help take blood pressure, wanting to dip the stick in the urine sample, taking the midwife's stethoscope and insisting on checking everyone's heart, sitting exactly where I need to be at that moment in time and refusing to move, wanting to have a go with the doppler on my tummy and trying to escape the room while I'm midway through my appointment 🤦‍♀️

I wish I could leave him in the waiting room as there are toys there but he's a flight risk (he got out of school and across a road one time under someone else's care and I've not let him out of my sight since). Nice of you to consider offering to watch her though 😊

@Blocklynn defo try them. For me it was worth going and seeing.

AK93 · 12/02/2023 23:24

@TeddyBeans He sounds like a fantastic assistant! Except the being where you needed to be 😆also sounds like a few children I’ve looked after who are very interested in everything but also will just run and you can’t take your eyes off!
The little girl was on and off the chairs in the waiting area, nearly ran off and up some stairs, said she wanted to go back in the car, she seemed quite a character although cute with it! Haha I’m pretty sure their mum did say something along the lines of what was she going to be like in the room! I did tell the Mum I was used to it as I work with children that age! I’m sure the mum would’ve said no anyway but you never know when a bit of help would be welcome lol.

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 12/02/2023 23:30

Congrats @Babynum2 and good luck @LizziBee
im 37 weeks tomorrow so tonight’s job is packing the birth bag!! Decided to plan for a home birth after my post a few weeks ago but having a birth bag with all the stuff in case we need to go in.

Cams50 · 12/02/2023 23:52

Congrats @Babynum2 !!

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone! My boy was also 7lbs 4ozs, born yesterday at 12.14! Can’t believe it. He’s amazing but I’m very sore. Hoping to go home tomorrow.

Sounds like everyone else is getting close!!

Rainbowbaby23 · 13/02/2023 02:03

Up at this time with awful acid reflux that’s so bad it’s made me throw up and then I peed a little🙃

Im so ready for this to be over😂

Room4onemore · 13/02/2023 05:14

Ended up in triage again last night for reduced movements, 3rd time. Everything ok with baby but was there for hours due to my blood pressure being high, tested every 15 mins for an hour at least. They were going to admit me overnight but said if it comes down I can go home, which it did thankfully, had to have a blood test though to test for pre eclampsia.

TeddyBeans · 13/02/2023 05:22

@Cams50 congratulations! 💙 Hope you get to go home soon!!

@Room4onemore glad everything's okay at the moment, how long til you get the results about the preeclampsia?

@Rainbowbaby23 oh you poor thing, acid is horrible! I would highly recommend omeprazole if you get it regularly, it's stopped mine completely

TeddyBeans · 13/02/2023 06:21

Omg I've just had the worst coughing fit/being sick and now it feels like my vagina is going to fall out 😭😭😭 so uncomfortable right now

OP posts:
LizziBee · 13/02/2023 06:47

Thanks all! I'll let you know how it goes.

Rainbowbaby23 · 13/02/2023 07:21

@TeddyBeans I did take omeprazole but admittedly I always take it too late😂 hope you’re okay!!

Been quite itchy for about a week now, not just on hands and feet but all over so going to go get some bloods done today. Feel like I torture the midwives at admissions I was only there a week and a half ago for fluids😳

Cats23 · 13/02/2023 07:26

@Cams50 Congratulations!

@Room4onemore - Ive been in 3x so far too , Im nearly 34weeks now and worried how many more times we will end upngoing.
Since last night feel I likely need to go again. Our hospital is over an hr away and ofcourse I will go if I need to but fuel is pricey and It takes a good 3-4hr round trip. Glad you dont have PE .

Dreamingof3 · 13/02/2023 07:51

Congratulations @Cams50

These babies are flying out now 😂

Can anyone else just not sleep? I think I got about 2.5 hours when I went to bed then slept for no more than 20/30 minutes at a time until I gave up at 5.30! Made the kids packed lunches, did a load of washing, hung it up, put another on, prepped dinner....will probably now sleep whilst they're at school as I get a headache otherwise 🙄

Bobduncan · 13/02/2023 07:58

Peacemaking 😍so exciting the babies being born on this thread! I feel quite far behind at 34 weeks!
