For those thats waters have broken before labour started before, what did it feel like? Was it a big gush or small trickle?

Mine was a big gush last time, like everywhere

Saltandpepperr · 22/02/2023 19:00

@JB2021 I had a bath this morning really helped with the cramps. It's made me even more upset I cannot have a waterbirth😔 I have to go to delivery not birthing centre due to my blood thinners.

Mine was a big gush but I'd had the pessary for 15 hours by that point so I don't think I can be classed as before labour started 😅

Also, thinking too much but what the hell do you wear to an induction? 😂😂

Pjs or leggings or what?! Will I have to keep my trousers off? 😂

Cuppasoupmonster · 22/02/2023 19:37

@JTB123 turn up in normal comfy clothes (leggings and a sweatshirt that kind of thing), they just ask you to pull them down to insert the pessary then you pull them back up again! Then when something kicks off or it’s time for the drip, change into your labour nightie.

Dreamingof3 · 22/02/2023 19:38

@JTB123 I'm sure I just wore leggings and a dress...just took the bottoms off when needed 😅 then changed into a nightie when things moved along a bit. Whatever you're comfortable in really, you could be there a while potentially and I spent a fair bit of time wandering around the hospital

Rainbowbaby23 · 22/02/2023 20:26

Just started harvesting colostrum tonight! Although mines looks quite clearish and watery? Only got about 1ml, hoping this will increase the more I do it

allthingssparkly · 22/02/2023 20:31

@JTB123 Hopefully things progress for you without the need for induction, how many weeks pregnant are you?

I had a consultation with a breastfeeding specialist midwife today and she said colostrum is thick like puss from a pimple (literally her words!!)

Room4onemore · 22/02/2023 21:09

Sitting in my nightly bath lol. Been shopping this afternoon as my kids needed a couple of things for their cases before they are off to Italy skiing on Saturday for a week with the school, so possibly it may be easier if I have the baby at some point after Saturday in that week lol

TeddyBeans · 22/02/2023 21:13

@Room4onemore I've just got out of my nightly bath 🤣 wouldn't that be lovely for the kids to come back off holiday to? Hey guys, how was skiing? Excellent, surprise! Baby arrived and is eagerly awaiting big sibling cuddles! ❤️❤️

OP posts:
Room4onemore · 22/02/2023 21:15

@TeddyBeans yeah it would be 😂 I deliberately went to the shopping centre so I had to walk a fair bit but nothing happening apart from aching unfortunately

TeddyBeans · 22/02/2023 21:17

TMI again sorry 🤦‍♀️ I have no shame.

I just keep losing mucus plug/my show!? (Some of it is clear and some of it is bloody) How much of it is there?? I lost a massive glob this morning and every time I've been to the loo today there's been more. I had two big globs after I got out of the bath just now. It's neverending! 😱😱😱

I just need my waters to go now cuz I'm pretty sure there can't be much else holding her back other than my not fully dilated/effaced cervix ofc

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 22/02/2023 21:19

@Room4onemore ugh I know the feeling. My friend asked me to pick her DD up from school today so we walked plodded 45 minutes to her house and it did naff all other than make me ache

Room4onemore · 22/02/2023 21:29

@TeddyBeans surely there can’t be much longer for you to wait.

Nettlestea · 22/02/2023 21:35

@TeddyBeans I think that’s normal, there’s loads of it! I had loads after sweep with my last baby too, then a couple days later went to the toilet through the night and it was very bloody, and baby came two hours after, think it means the cervix is dilating, it’s all good signs! Exciting, I’m sure the walking must help! You might want to get some rest and sleep now, baby could be here soon! 😄

TeddyBeans · 22/02/2023 21:55

@Nettlestea I'm too impatient for my own good 🤣 I didn't have any of this with DS so the fact that I've made it this far myself is amazing but I just want her here now. 2 hours though!? That must have been pretty intense. I'll be happy with less than 24 hours, DS's induction was a good 36 hour process

OP posts:
AK93 · 22/02/2023 21:56

@TeddyBeans are you allowed to have a bit of action after a sweep or is that not recommended? 😆could encourage any leftover out and some more happenings?? Sounds like it is working it's way out though!

JTB123 · 22/02/2023 21:57

allthingssparkly · 22/02/2023 20:31

Ill be 39+1 tomorrow xx

TeddyBeans · 22/02/2023 22:17

@AK93 I think so? I think it's only after your waters go that they say not to because of infection risk 🤔

OP posts:
Cats23 · 22/02/2023 22:18

@Rainbowbaby23
My waters went with a small 'pop' then a constant flow for about 4hrs, I soaked through all myat bag clothes in an hr! I went to sleep for an hr in hosp and literally woke up in almost a 'bath' on the bed of my waters- it smelt awful and I Couldnt believe the amount!!!!!

Rainbowbaby23 · 22/02/2023 22:22

Definitely don’t think it was my waters then🙈
think I’m just hoping everything is something at the minute😂😂

Eastybaby19 · 23/02/2023 00:09

Came over to assessment unit at 7.30 and been admitted for reduced movements just got onto ward 😭 was scanned etc and all fine but it's 2nd time and I carry weird anti bodies that can effect babies heart so admitted again. Roll on Monday for section unless they do it sooner I'm 38+5 today.

Choc2022 · 23/02/2023 00:27

If intending to breastfeed should I purchase a breast pump before due date and take to hospital or is it ok to leave till after birth?

@Cuppasoupmonster did you pump in hospital last time?

Also in terms of waters breaking did you ladies out anything down on mattress? Should I be getting those waterproof pads to sleep on or buy a waterproof mattress protector?
