I did my blood pressure on both arms and the results varied massively, so the MAC midwives (2) said they don't feel like I need to come in. The last one literally said that at home blood pressure monitors are not as
Reliable as their hospital ones.

I have my 38 week appointment on Monday, so hope nothing gets worse by then and maybe this is just normal pregnancy swelling and carpal tunnel 🥴 but if it does, I might have to push them to let me come in for monitoring just to be on the safe side

To be fair they're not wrong. Midwife showed me yesterday how different sized cuffs make a massive difference to your blood pressure reading. She used the larger cuff first and got a reading of 90/60ish and then the standard cuff and got 120/80 about 30 seconds later. Imo though that's more reason to get you in to check it manually! Definitely push it if you're not happy

Last time I was in being monitored and my BP was high the midwife started taking it manually and it was better

havananana · 21/02/2023 09:57

My midwife only takes it manually.
But MAC said their monitors are all configured accurate, so not to trust my home one and not to obsess over
It 🤷‍♀️

I've not had a nose bleed and suppose my swelling is not severe, and have no headache or vision issues, and last time my midwife checked my BP and urine was last Monday.

I'll just keep a close eye on it but if something happens more or gets worse I'll push to be monitored at my hospital

LaForza101 · 21/02/2023 10:56

Feeling a bit fed up now at 38+4. Braxton Hicks haven't changed into anything productive. Still oddly long and painful when I get episodes of them.

I've also been told time and time again by my midwife that my c section is booked for Friday but there has been no letter confirming this. I've flagged this but just had it brushed away that they would ring me.

She didn't book a 38 week check up this week because she presumed I would be having my pre op appointment on my usual day to see her.

I rang the hospital and they said that no it wouldn't be this Friday but they would sort a date the week after, so I've probably got another week of unproductive pain on top of this week.

Midwife isn't answering so not sure if I'm going to get a check up this week. Sorry for venting. I'm just so ready for this to be over and the goal posts have moved further away.

GreenIsle · 21/02/2023 11:13

I'm so fed up also, having a really moody day. My youngest woke me up at 4am for the day. I am struggling to sleep anyway because I have a really tickly cough which is making me gag and vomit also a blocked nose. When that's not annoying me I have permanent heartburn. Youngest has decided not to bother napping today and I have my oldest here also because of teacher strikes. There is also builders outside digging and doing road works. I just want literally cry and run away. Can't even relax because have to take youngest to hospital appointment which is 45 min drive away Confused

DH is away to work but left his bank card and said to treat ourselves to nice lunch to cheer me up a bit but might just go to McDonald's before the hospital appointment. 38 weeks today and midwife appointment tomorrow. The end is near.

NM1819 · 21/02/2023 11:42

@GreenIsle I know exactly what you're going through with the tickly cough! I'm 35+5, struggling to sleep but now can't breath either! My ear is absolutely throbbing and I could cry every time I move because I've hurt my ribs coughing. Hopefully it doesn't stick around for too long. Baby doesn't seem to like it as she isn't moving as much as usual so will keep an eye on it today.

Noodle20 · 21/02/2023 12:22

@TeddyBeans thank you

Cats23 · 21/02/2023 12:31

@havanamama , shocking advice!!!
I literally had protein and higher BP only! It was the protein they sent me in for mainly (+1 or +2 if I remember! )
Ive had a trace of protein for the last 4 weeks this time but BP is in normal so not a worry so much.

Suchardchoccy · 21/02/2023 13:13

Well the midwife offered me a sweep today and I accepted, said my cervix was soft and stretchy and baby’s head was lower than she thought. Having period back ache and a bit of pink blood so far. Going to go for a walk 🤞🏻

TeddyBeans · 21/02/2023 13:27

@Suchardchoccy sounds very similar to my initial reaction to it. It's petered out to browny mucus when I wipe now. Hopefully you have better luck!

@LaForza101 I'm so sorry you've been let down, that's awful! I really hope the hospital pull their finger out and it's not long until you meet your little one ❤️

@TeddyBeans well she said 24-48 hours so there’s still time for you!!

TeddyBeans · 21/02/2023 13:56

@Suchardchoccy true but my baby's a pickle, has been a pickle the entire pregnancy and I'm sure will continue to be a pickle well into childhood 🤣🤣🤣

Keep us updated!

I had pink blood yesterday but only a tiny bit and the MAC said to not worry that it's just cerviz changing

havananana · 21/02/2023 14:24

I've printed, filled and put the birth plan in my maternity notes. Feel more ready now 😆

The lactation nurse/midwife never called me for some reason today, so guess I'm not going to be collecting any colostrum after all haha

Room4onemore · 21/02/2023 15:23

Did someone on here say they had ordered more fabric for the snuzpod?

Suchardchoccy · 21/02/2023 16:01

@TeddyBeans they do say girls are more difficult haha!

I’ve actually been having really intense back pain that comes in waves, the walk was very uncomfortable. I’ve also been to the toilet 3 times today!

Suchardchoccy · 21/02/2023 16:02

The pains are in my back and bum but my tummy is hard at the same time

Saltandpepperr · 21/02/2023 16:09

@havanamama I got my syringes on prime £4 came the next day and they are the ones they give you in hospital if you still want to do it

TeddyBeans · 21/02/2023 16:12

@Suchardchoccy oooh sounds promising!!
