@TeddyBeans eeeek! If I were a betting woman I would say I think you’ll have a baby in time for the weekend!

Re birth preferences, I have an appointment with my community midwife on Friday about it. It’s wasted on me to be honest - a 37 week induction gives you few choices, unless by some miracle the pessary is enough to tip me into labour. I was offered a birth pool if that happens but I’ve decided to decline - with the baby measuring bigger and the obstetrician mentioning shoulder dystocia, I’ve decided it’s probably safer to stay on dry land in case anything happens. If I have to have the drip it’s game over to be honest; what preferences are there when you’re lying on your back with a cannula in each hand Hmm if the pessary works then I’m just going to request gas and air and for the midwife to keep me upright and mobilised as much as possible. That’s it really!

I would call your community midwife and request an appointment, they didn’t do them at my last trust as a matter of routine but I’m sure if you ask they’ll find you a slot?

Rose429 · 20/02/2023 20:49

If your trust uses Badger note, you can fill out your birth plan on the app. My midwife asked me to do it before the 34W appointment and after I had done all the antenatal classes, but I totally forgot so she just went through all the questions with me at the 34W appointment.

But what does the community midwife do then with that info?

Mine didn't write down anywhere that I don't want morphine, or that I want an epidural, or that I want vitamin K injection, etc

Ubbee · 20/02/2023 20:59

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all well. Congrats to all whose babies have arrived. ❤️

Our little guy made a swift appearance on Saturday (38+5) the day after a sweep! He was not massive at all as the scans predicted and was a perfectly average size. Second time round was so much easier.

Wishing you all very happy births! Back to cuddles… X

AK93 · 20/02/2023 21:07

Congratulations @Ubbee enjoy those cuddles!
It is interesting how far out the estimated weights can be xx

TeddyBeans · 20/02/2023 21:08

@Ubbee aww congratulations! I hope my sweep is as successful! Enjoy cuddles! 💙💙

Congrats @Ubbee lovely news! I hope to post a very similar update with my ‘huge’ second baby in a few weeks 😂 💙

TeddyBeans · 20/02/2023 21:16

@Eastybaby19 I have no idea what the bishop score is really but anythings better than 0! 😁

@AK93 I was tempted to have a rummage the other day but decided against it in case I did some damage/popped my waters etc. I don't want to risk my water birth in any way so trying to be as good as possible!

@Dreamingof3 this was my thinking. If she couldn't do anything with it at least she could tell me if I was heading in the right direction or not

@iratepirate my birth preferences appointment was around 36 weeks I think. You could fill it in yourself if there's one in your notes, I did this last time round and my midwife just read through it at the birth preferences appointment

Cuppsoupmonster · 20/02/2023 21:17

@havanamama who knows! It all feels like a bit of a farce really - like they’re just paying lip service to it 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m just going to jot down my short list of preferences and give them to whatever midwife is caring for us on the day.

TeddyBeans · 20/02/2023 21:21

@Cuppsoupmonster the midwife thinks Friday so you might be onto a winner there 🤣 she also told me it's game over for water birth if I have to have the drip so desperately trying to avoid that. She did say that they would be able to break my waters pretty easily if I had to be induced so here's hoping that's enough to kickstart things and avoid the bastard drip!

@havananana the community midwife doesn't do anything with it, it's for the staff at the hospital/wherever you're giving birth to know what you would like in terms of your labour. You can write your own one to take with you, there's a template in my paper notes or I'm sure you can find one online

TeddyBeans · 20/02/2023 21:25

Part of me still would like to have my last growth scan on the 28th but I'm very willing to have had little miss by that point! My last scan at 36 weeks said she was 6lbs 6oz so she's on track to be a good 8-8 and a half lbs depending on when she decides to vacate. But obviously that was 3 weeks ago and a more up to date estimate would be lovely

Congratulations @Ubbee 🥰

Cats23 · 20/02/2023 22:44

Congratulations @beatingheartbaby and @Ubbee .

My waters were broken at 40+1 with Dc 3....I had him an hour later ( no other intervention, no contractions prior) With dc #4....They wouldnt break my waters and started me of the pessary thing...10hrs later she arrived. I had sweeps but dont feel they worked at all.

This Dc , Im being induced, Im hoping they listen and break my waters straight off again!

I was monotored again today baby fine but my heart rate is highish and has been the last month 98-110....
MW wasnt over concerned but has me tioned to my consultant ready for Thurs ( Monotering and a scan again)

Goodluck @TeddyBeans

havananana · 20/02/2023 22:45

Congrats @Ubbee ! 💗

I'm quite surprised by how many are induced or get the membrane sweep before due date.

Will there actually be anyone with a due date or post-due date baby? 😄

I had swollen feet, ankles, hands, a nosebleed and a high blood pressure but the MAC still said unless you see double or have a migraine it's not preeclampsia 🤔

havananana · 21/02/2023 00:08

Just had a drop of pink-red blood after peeing. Rang MAC and they said to keep a pad in and monitor.

Anyone had this? I'm 37+5 today

TeddyBeans · 21/02/2023 07:21

@havananana I'd be wary of that one. I didn't have a single headache or episode of funny vision last time and still ended up with preeclampsia. I'm pretty sure little miss will be late. She's showing no signs of being ready to give up her apartment 🤣

No change here this morning 😕 if nothing's started by tomorrow I'm booking another reflexology session and a facial because I can! 5 days til due date

@havananana I think I'll go over! As much as I'm hoping not to as it means another section for me 😭

Boggles24 · 21/02/2023 08:22

Hi, I’ve been following this thread for a while. Lovely (and also a little bit scary) to see so many babies being born! I’m 39+4 today but baby shows no signs of evacuating any time soon. So predicting I’m going to sail past my due date. Have a sweep booked for Friday when I’ll be 40 weeks so hopefully that might kick start something!

@TeddyBeans i was on the Facebook page before but I seem to have been kicked off as well. Could you send me the link? Thanks!

havananana · 21/02/2023 08:39

I did my blood pressure on both arms and the results varied massively, so the MAC midwives (2) said they don't feel like I need to come in. The last one literally said that at home blood pressure monitors are not as
Reliable as their hospital ones.

I have my 38 week appointment on Monday, so hope nothing gets worse by then and maybe this is just normal pregnancy swelling and carpal tunnel 🥴 but if it does, I might have to push them to let me come in for monitoring just to be on the safe side

Suchardchoccy · 21/02/2023 09:08

Thank you @TeddyBeans 😊 I’m sorry nothing has happened yet! I was waiting to read you’d gone into labour this morning!!

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 21/02/2023 09:15

@havananana be careful, i have absolutely no symptoms of pre-eclampsia other than blood pressure and protein in urine (which you wouldn't know without being tested) and was diagnosed at the weekend and now looking at induction at 37 weeks.

TeddyBeans · 21/02/2023 09:18

@Boggles24 aaah I'm sorry! I have no idea what's happened with the FB group. There's over 100 members but for some reason a good dozen of you have had issues now 😭 I'll pm you the link
