@muminlndn I don't want to be the one to disappoint you but I feel hiccups in my bum and the top of my bump simultaneously because of the size of her. Unfortunately there's no guarantee your little one has shifted 🙁 fingers crossed for you though! Hopefully your scan shows she has moved!

Rainbowbaby23 · 20/02/2023 10:30

everything ive read is that baby might not be engaged due to their head being too big, which sounds about right lol next scan isnt until 9th march when ill be 39+2!

Cats23 · 20/02/2023 10:30

Waiting on a monotering check up - Planned due to reduced movements prior...But she hasnt been moving much the last 24hrs so perhaps 6th episode of Reduced movement!
2weeks till 37weeks and induction!
@TeddyBeans - Hope the signs are in favour for you today!

SammyJay5 · 20/02/2023 10:50

@Cuppsoupmonster if you have badger notes your midwife should’ve recorded it on there on the antenatal care summary part 😊

@muminlndn I have the hard lump near my belly button too and midwife said it’s baby’s bum!

Saltandpepperr · 20/02/2023 11:13

I have a hard lump just to the right of belly button and then smaller hard lump to the left and midwife said its bum and limbs as baby is laying on the side head down. It says in my notes 2/5 engaged but she didn't say it to me. I really hope they can do my sweep on Thursday my PGP is so bad I can't even walk up and down the stairs properly I slept on the sofa last night.

allthingssparkly · 20/02/2023 11:29

Scan and consultant appointment done, babys growth is perfect. Induction date booked for next week if baby doesn't make an appearance before then. X

JTB123 · 20/02/2023 12:23

38 week midwife app this morning (38+5) and she wouldn't sweep me. She said they won't do it under 39 weeks without medical reason 🥲😩 - but she did hint to me that if I was to go up with reduced movements from 39 weeks they'll sweep and offer induction, which I'm really tempted to do to be honest 🤣

Anyone had an induction before, are they worth it?

TeddyBeans · 20/02/2023 12:29

@allthingssparkly good news! The end is in sight!!

@JTB123 my induction was pretty tame last time. Bubs wasn't ready but I got preeclampsia so he had to come out. It is pretty intense, you don't get the slow build up of natural contractions. I'd recommend having the epidural if they make noises about the drip - I ended up having to have fentanyl to take the pain away because the drip made the contractions so strong. But I didn't have to have any other interventions and DS was born safe and well and in less than 48 hours from start to finish so all good in my books 😊

I'm seriously considering it for Thursday 😩 I'm so done

Suchardchoccy · 20/02/2023 12:41

Congratulations @beatingheartbaby hope you both recover well!

I’vw got a midwife app tomorrow, i will be 40+0. I’m going to ask her to sweep me but I don’t know if she’ll make me wait until 41 weeks, I think she said that last time. Was hoping I wouldn’t make it to my 40 week app but I’ve given up hoping 😂 I think because I had it in my head that she would come early, now I feel really overdue

TeddyBeans · 20/02/2023 12:58

@Suchardchoccy I know how you feel, I'm 39+1 and I never thought I'd make it this far. It's exhausting isn't it? I'm having a sweep today and a friend of mine had a sweep at 40 weeks so I don't see why they won't sweep you tomorrow

OP posts:
Eastybaby19 · 20/02/2023 13:00

@JTB123 I was induced last time although I was a few weeks earlier and it was horrendous 🤦‍♀️ baby wasn't ready was on drip for 2 days 3 attempts to break waters etc he was also back to back after all that only ever got to 4.5cm and ended in a very emergency section. BUT as I said I was only 37 weeks, my friend was induced at 39.5 and had baby 15 hours later no other interventions just the drip 🤷‍♀️

Eastybaby19 · 20/02/2023 13:01

@TeddyBeans good luck for your sweep this afternoon! Let us know how it was 🙈 I've never had one lol

Shep21 · 20/02/2023 13:10

Anyone else trying to resist googling symptoms? Pretty certain BH have set in and it’s not early labour yet, but now I’m off work I can’t help but hope each pain, symptom etc might be a sign of labour😂 don’t want to get my hopes up that I’ll labour early, as I’m very much done with being pregnant! Also doesn’t help when everyone I know says they think I’ll be early🙈

Suchardchoccy · 20/02/2023 13:23

@TeddyBeans it’s exhausting and frustrating 😢 good luck for your sweep today! I hope it’s productive and does something for you! 🤞🏻 oh that’s encouraging, I’m definitely going to ask (beg) her anyway haha!

havananana · 20/02/2023 14:45

@TeddyBeans good luck! Let us know if it's painful or not and if resultative!

I had to call MAC today as my foot, ankle and finger swelling is getting worse, and also had a nose bleed today.
Thankfully they think it's not Preeclampsia.

Nettlestea · 20/02/2023 14:45

@beatingheartbaby Congratulations on your little one! How exciting!

I’ve just had the 36 week growth scan and baby is measuring at least 7lbs 5, the last baby I had was 10lbs exactly, so was expecting it, but hopefully it doesn’t stop the home birth. Had no issues birthing the last baby, but would be nice if this one came early!

Deut28 · 20/02/2023 14:53

@JTB123 I had an induction with my first (drip, no epidural, no instruments) and I would do almost anything to avoid it this time! If you're on the drip you have to have continuous monitoring. A lot of women opt for an epidural because the contractions ramp up so quickly, but then there's an increased likelihood of baby needing help at delivery, which was something I really wanted to avoid. If you need one because it's the safest thing for baby/you then it's not the worst thing in the world, but I wouldn't actively choose it just to get baby here a bit quicker.

Franklin321 · 20/02/2023 14:59

@JTB123 I had an induction with my son at 38 weeks, luckily (if you can say that) one pessary kicked me off so didn’t need any further pessaries/drip but I would not choose this again. It ended in an emergency section anyway but the pain was unreal as there was no break from contractions because of the nature of how the pessary works! Epidural did the job at 5cm and it’s probable I would have gotten an epidural anyway if I’d gone into natural labour because I don’t see why I should suffer 🤣 but yeh the whole process wasn’t the best 🙃

Rose429 · 20/02/2023 15:07

@TeddyBeans Good luck with your sweep!

Btw am I the only person who doesn’t want the baby to come yet? I’m 36W today and I need her to stay put until 40W and ideally 4 days over due to line up with DH’s school holiday. He only gets 1 weeks paid leave so if baby comes early we would have to take some unpaid leave 😬

Blocklynn · 20/02/2023 15:23

@Rose429 I’m 35+3, told baby it’s to stay put until at least 37+2 as I have plans before then 😂

Cdoc · 20/02/2023 15:52

@Rose429 me too! I’m 38+2 and though I don’t want to go hugely over, I’d be happy with 40 weeks or the few days after. Wish we had some control over it 🤣

Rose429 · 20/02/2023 16:06

@Blocklynn @Cdoc I’ve been channeling “mind over matter” energy and whispering to baby whenever she moves “Yes you like it in there. Yes you’re going to stay there for a while longer ok?” 😂

JTB123 · 20/02/2023 16:07

Interesting, thanks ladies! I might go up and ask for a sweep and hold off on any induction offers then x

Cdoc · 20/02/2023 16:16

@Rose429 that’s brilliant 🤣🤣I need to start that, telling baby it’s nice and cosy in there compared to out here!
