@BCxx could they not do the procedure at the same time as the C-section? Like you said you'd be numb anyway and already at hosp haha! Xx

LS888 · 13/02/2023 14:49

@BCxx I’ve had a ‘hole punch’ biopsy before and honestly it wasn’t too bad. Mine was more precautionary as cervix didn’t ‘look right’ at my smear but no abnormal cells found. But as others have said hopefully it won’t be too bad waiting.

@overwork we went to Cape Verde in October half term. I really didn’t know the risks with pregnancy. We weren’t active TTC with that cycle as I was recovering from a MC and decided to try again when we got back. I annoyingly had my period that week but it was the cycle after we got that I conceived in. I’m hoping blood tests would show if I had had the virus. Bloods have come back normal. No symptoms. But because we went within 8 weeks of conceiving it has made me ‘high risk’. Panicked me a bit tbh and I have been googling ‘can you have Zika virus without knowing’. But as my husband said there is nothing we can do now so trying not to worry about it!

ChloeN · 13/02/2023 15:33

@LS888 did you not have a jab before your holiday? When I went to Mexico they really went on about zika when I had that so a bit bad if the doctors didn’t even mention it! But there was loads of pregnant ladies there when I went so I assume the risk is low anyway! I think zika is low at the min anyway?

BCxx · 13/02/2023 15:39

@LS888 I’m just not sure I can imagine what that pain would feel like in your cervix 🙈 is it like a jag type nip?

BCxx · 13/02/2023 15:40

@sally16 i don’t know but I certainly will ask at my next check up 🤣 I’d imagine maybe the blood less situation in a c-section and risk of infection would probably be the reason they couldn’t but very annoying if I could have it potentially pain free haha

BCxx · 13/02/2023 15:40

Loss*

BCxx · 13/02/2023 15:43

@CityKity yeah I thought so! She explained it as being a risk 5-10 years or more away but mine is just a bit more urgent as it’s high grade so it did make me chill out a bit and think that’s obviously why smears are every 3 years if this is the size of timescales!

jjeanii · 13/02/2023 15:54

Hi all hope everyone is well, I'm 16 weeks today and had a gender scan and they are almost sure that I'm having a little girl , I'm so happy thought I'd share . Grin

Congratulations @jjeanii 💗

Miraclesdohappen88 · 13/02/2023 16:13

Congratulations @jjeanii 💗 lovely scan

Sjw30 · 13/02/2023 16:18

Congratulations! @jjeanii

P1pk · 13/02/2023 16:20

@jjeanii congratulations!!! So happy for you and thanks for sharing!

@BCxx glad your appt went as well as possible. Not much you can do now so just focus on yourself and baby!

Those of you exercising well done! I've felt like crap and the cold hasn't helped but will try to go for a walk everyday from today ....wish me luck!

I'm 13+2 today and so far today I haven't 'felt' pregnant other than my v small bump. Has anyone else had those days? It's so true what one of you ladies has said that you stop worrying about 1 thing and then jump on the next!! Need my next scan/ appt quickly!

sally16 · 13/02/2023 16:22

@BCxx I'd defo ask! Can only be told no as a worst case!
Maybe they aren't sure on your birth intentions?

Marmaladebear · 13/02/2023 16:27

Huge congratulations @jjeanii! 💕

@Paintandpots oh God I completely relate to your message 😭 I've had some really dark thoughts during the worst parts of the first trimester, it really has been unbearable at times. I thought I had bad nausea with my first pregnancy but I was able to at least function normally, this one I've just been sick all the time and the tablets I've been prescribed make me drowsy so I can only really use them at night. I hope you start feeling better soon and get to enjoy pregnancy. I thought being pregnant outside of lockdown would be so much better but it's like I've got my own self enforced lockdown. Anyway, may we both feel better soon!!

ChloeN · 13/02/2023 16:42

@jjeanii a lovely news ☺️💗

tax19 · 13/02/2023 16:43

@jjeanii such lovely news 💕

AnnieApple123 · 13/02/2023 17:00

@Paintandpots That sounds very rough indeed. I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling so.

@BMK Yes, talking to the consultant did a lot more to relieve my anxiety than talking to therapist to be honest. Mainly because she had the medical knowledge to be able to tell me about different complications and what her real life experience of them has been (i.e. often not nearly as catastrophic as one might imagine).

Update: I posted to FB also and got some reassurance it wouldn't be unreasonable, called and low chance of all 3, so that's a relief 😅 now just to wait for the 20 week scan which feels a life time away now 😂
Mental how when you stop worrying about one thing it just immediately transfers to the next 😂

Yes I definitely relate to that.

So glad all went ok this morning @BCxx

Lovely news and pic @jjeanii

@ChloeN i don’t think there is a vaccine for Zika virus they just advise you not to go to certain areas. But I wasn’t pregnant at the time and probably didn’t research it enough to be honest in terms of risk.

@BCxx I really don’t remember it being painful like you say more of just a bit uncomfortable. Hopefully it will be the same for you. I bled for a bit after but nothing major. Hope it will be similar for you.

AnnieApple123 · 13/02/2023 17:09

@MinnieFirstTimeMum and @overwork the exercise videos I do are Robin Long’s Prenatal Pilates. I discovered them last time in lockdown when frustratingly, I’d literally just joined a pregnancy yoga class only for everything to shut down. I bought a package but there are some free ones on youtube you could try out to see if you like her style.

Just as I’d started exercising again though, I’ve now developed some lower back pain. Of course I’m now panicking it’s SPD.

OP posts:
overwork · 13/02/2023 17:11

@LS888 I didn't look at Cape Verde particularly but I couldn't see anywhere at all that had an outbreak at the moment. Hopefully you didn't come anywhere near any Zika mozzies.
Oh that's a shame - Thailand would have been lovely @CityKity

LS888 · 13/02/2023 17:12

@jjeanii congratulations! 💕

Today is probably the first day where I have felt ‘human’ for most of the day. Even questioned if I feel pregnant at all those symptoms are a pain but when they are gone it is such a worry- can’t win!!

I was in town earlier and there was a sale on baby clothes in a shop that is closing down so we bought a few things. I was making small talk with the lady at the till. And she said something like ‘obviously these aren’t for you then!’ and then started to look me up and down and said I was wearing a floaty top so she couldn’t tell. How rude! Why do people think they can comment!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 13/02/2023 17:20

Thank you @AnnieApple123

What is SPD. I hope it isn't too serious, and also hope it isn't something that you have got. I am sure lower back pain can be normal in pregnancy 🥰

ChloeN · 13/02/2023 17:50

@LS888 I don’t know what the jab I had was for tbh I never asked 🤣🤣 it was a few years ago so there was probably a zika outbreak which is why they were so pushy on saying I couldn’t get pregnant, but what do all the people do that live in that country? They surely don’t all get zika
I hate comments like that, it’s none of there business anyway!!

buttercupbee · 13/02/2023 20:37

@jjeanii congratulations, lovely news 💗
