@Createcomet another person here struggling being pregnant with a toddler 🙋‍♀️ I feel bad because often my husband has to just do everything while I'm off being sick... Hopefully the sickness ends soon 😭

Porcupette · 11/02/2023 19:46

Hello! I was originally given an EDD of 6th august but now been revised to 29th July. Got a little girl already who’ll be 2 next month and I’m there with you @Marmaladebear @Createcomet struggling to juggle it. I’ve got lucky on the sickness front but I’m just shattered!

jollydollyirl · 11/02/2023 20:04

Hi everyone. Have been busy moving house so have missed a few days on here. Had my 12 week scan during the week and all looking good thankfully! Currently 13+2. EDD 17th Aug if you'd be kind enough to add me to the list @AnnieApple123

AnnieApple123 · 11/02/2023 21:09

Welcome back @jollydollyirl . Hope the move went well.

Welcome @Porcupette

@Recoba Hope your appointment goes well and that you’re able to negotiate what you want and be supported in your preferences. I can relate somewhat as I am consultant-led but still hoping to be able to do things as naturally as circumstances allow. I’ve chosen a hospital further away to get maximum support in this.

@UsernameNotPresent Great that you’ve managed to night wean. That must be making a huge difference for you. I found the same when we did it that it was much quicker and not nearly as hard as I’d feared - the anticipation was definitely the worst bit. We’re down to just a bedtime feed now. I’m still quite hoping to be able to keep it up and tandem feed although lots of people have warned me to be careful what I wish for!

Got my appointment letter through for my colposcopy appointment to investigate these abnormal cells from my smear test and it’s on Monday morning so feel like my mind has been on that and not my pregnancy. The letter said it would be up to 8 weeks to receive an appointment letter but within 1 week I am being seen! The letter date is Monday last week and that’s when I contacted my midwife, who contacted my consultant to ask whether I should still go so I’m wondering if she’s phoned them and that’s why I got it out that day. Doesn’t sound like they’ll be able to do much other than look while I’m pregnant though but just hoping they tell me it all looks okay and I don’t need to go back, dreading it 😩

jjeanii · 12/02/2023 02:35

@BCxx hope you get more information after Monday, I have had abnormal cells twice and both times they cleared up on their own within 6 months so I am sure that will happen with you too

LBF2020 · 12/02/2023 09:30

@BCxx good luck for tomorrow. I had the procedure in august last year on a 2 week pathway. It was very straight forward, they took a tiny biopsy which was not at all painful, but I did experience some cramping period type pains after (no bleeding for me). They also told me at the time that they thought it was just inflammation and then the letter a few weeks later confirmed that. I suppose as you are pregnant they want to get you seen to sooner rather than later. I do wonder if they'll take a biopsy though?

Sjw30 · 12/02/2023 09:43

@BCxx good luck for tomorrow. I’ve also had abnormal cells which I had a lletz procedure for a few years ago. It’s very worrying but a relatively straight forward procedure. I’m not sure what they can do when pregnant but hoping all is okay for you xx

AnnieApple123 · 12/02/2023 10:00

Glad you can be seen so quickly @BCxx and can hopefully get all the worry over with. Hope all goes well.

Recoba · 12/02/2023 10:21

@AnnieApple123 have you read Adventures in Tandem Feeding? Finding it quite interesting (goes from bfing through pregnancy to bfing two (or more!)). Nice mix of summaries of studies/research and accounts by mothers who did (or didn't) tandem feed.

I asked DS if the flavour of my milk had changed and he thought for a minute and said, "yes, it tastes like strawberry", so not sure he's a reliable indicator of what's going on with my milk and the pregnancy!

AnnieApple123 · 12/02/2023 10:58

@Recoba Yes I have a copy and read the whole thing before I got pregnant. I feel like I’ve forgotten most of it now though and could probably do with a re-read…. Having an older child to help with any supply issues or relieve any engorgement is seeming appealing right now, although there are downsides too…

Sjw30 · 12/02/2023 11:15

Has anyone been getting any twinges? I’m 14 weeks and been having twinges in my lower pelvic area like in the middle. I’m assuming it’s just the womb stretching out? It’s a strange feeling though!

AnnieApple123 · 12/02/2023 11:22

@Sjw30 Yes I had this in my last pregnancy. Loads around this point at the transition from first to second trimester.

OP posts:
Sjw30 · 12/02/2023 11:25

Thank you @AnnieApple123 thats reassuring. It’s definitely not painful or anything just something I’m aware of every so often

BMK · 12/02/2023 11:34

@AnnieApple123 do you feel a bit better?*good to have you back. @BCxx anything that is identified as potentially x,y,z manages to keep us awake at night irrespective of the liklihood of it actually turning out to be as feared. So I'm v glad it's tomorrow and I would definitely take solace from the number of people here with similar situations where it turned out to be nothing or easily addressed.
I have to say in the last 2+ weeks I am feeling amazing- pretty much back to myself.
Is anyone here going to the gym; I was thinking of joining to try and counteract the general huge feeling and bloat and etc ,however just for 3months but at same time feeling and looking big whilst in gym also not appealing (self conscious re bump etc)

AnnieApple123 · 12/02/2023 11:53

@BMK Yes, definitely better both physically and mentally thanks. I’m hoping I might even start to feel a bit more energetic this week as well as I’ll be 16 weeks tomorrow. 🤞

I’ve been meaning to ask about exercise too. I’ve been doing absolutely zilch lately, in contrast to my last pregnancy when I was so good (although lockdown and not having a toddler did make it a lot easier then!). Am trying to cut myself some slack having been unwell but I would like to try to get back to it. Getting to a gym regularly is not a realistic goal for me as I have DS full-time but I have some prenatal exercise videos I’d like to start using again.

BCxx · 12/02/2023 13:40

thanks all! I’m sure I’m imagining it to be much worse than it will be 🙈 it’s just another added worry when you’re pregnant that I could do without!
@jjeanii thats reassuring, it does seem to be a fairly common thing!
@LBF2020 that’s good it wasn’t painful, I’ve seen so many mixed reviews. I’m just telling myself they’re the experts who do this every day so are bound to make it more comfortable than some of the rough nurses I’ve had do a smear test! It just says on the leaflet they ‘may’ not be able to do certain treatments or biopsy’s if you’re pregnant but it doesn’t actually say they won’t at all so I really don’t know!
@Sjw30 thanks, seems to be so common which is reassuring in a way as you automatically assume the worst when you see the first letter 🙈
@AnnieApple123 thank you, can’t believe how quickly I’m being seen as a lot of places seem to have a year’s wait!
@BMK yeah definitely better to get it over with sooner rather than later and I can hopefully relax and go back to focusing on being pregnant and not the worry of this 🙄

jjeanii · 12/02/2023 14:51

@Annieapple I'm 16 weeks tomorrow too and going for a gender scan at 3pm 🕒 hopefully 🤞 they can see , they said they can rebook if they can't so I'll let you all know. I'm keeping it a secret from my partner he wants a surprise as it's his first

Paintandpots · 12/02/2023 16:27

Got back last night with a trip to the horspital nearest where my parents live, staying over so can rest whilst little one is seen too. Was dyhydrated and quite poorly so they gave me drips and an anti sickness injection which worked wonders but i think its wearing off now which makes me want to cry inside. It was nice not feeling so queasy all the time.
Just about managing to eat but its a bit of a struggle, plus with bloating and feeling so knackered. Really struggling with this pregnnacy at the moment.

@jjeanii exciting stuff! I'm sure they will find out during the scan for you.

@BCxx hoping it's nothing and just a blip of some kind. Then you can just go back to managing your pregnancy and not additional worries about your health. Glad that you are getting seen to quickly.

@AnnieApple123 Evercise has gone out of the window for me too in this pregnanacy. On days when I've felt a bit better i try to go out for a brisk walk. I like your prenatel excersise videos idea though, doing it from comfort and warmth of home sounds like a plan.

@BMK glad your feeling better! Did it just happen all at once orngradually as days in 2nd trimester went on your started to n eel a little bit better?
Yea the bloating is not fun at all.

BMK · 12/02/2023 16:35

@Paintandpots it was definitely as second semester started, or maybe towards end of first I started to feel a tiny bit better : this however was after the last 2 weeks of 1st Sem being almost as bad as earlier in the first sem. Honestly I thought it was over and then it came back for those last 2 weeks.
But as second sem settled in I have really started to feel like my old self again and with energy and not sick!!
How far in are you?
I n0te that @AnnieApple123 is in 3nd sem but not feeling best yet do she thinks that 16weeks might bring improvement but my heart goes out to you as it's like the world has left you behind and you're not part of it with that sickness. And the worst is also having to mind a child who doesn't understand that you're not ok/is dependent..

BMK · 12/02/2023 16:36

em in 2nd sem I meant!!

CityKity · 12/02/2023 17:06

@Sjw30 also feeling a few new twinges (currently 15+5) which was an odd feeling, but you’re right must be everything stretching down there so hopefully to be expected!

@BMK I’m running as usual and have tried to increase my gym time while I’ve got the energy. I’ve given up my spin/hiit classes for slower weights sessions in the gym. I don’t usually enjoy going to the gym outside of classes but I’ve actually been enjoying taking control of my pace and not rushing around. I’m not showing yet, but don’t let being self conscious put you off, everyone is so focused on themselves, they’re really not there to judge others. I’m actually looking forward to having a bump at the gym so I can pick up the tiniest weights possible and be really slow and it will be more obvious why I’m not pushing it 😅

DesertSnow · 12/02/2023 18:24

@Paintandpots I'm sorry you're struggling. It affects everyone so differently. I'm 16 + 1 now and while I'm feeling much better throughout the day, I'm still feeling terrible in the evenings with nausea and fatigue.

@Sjw30 twinges over here too! Guess it makes sense as everything is growing.

@BCxx Really glad you're being seen so quickly, hopefully they'll be able to put your mind at rest.

@BMK I'm running 3 times a week and doing exercise dvds at home another 2 days. My running is definitely slower than normal, and I've reduced the intensity of all my workouts. I'm actually looking forward to having a proper bump as an explanation for why I'm running slowly 😂But I'd say most people are pretty self-absorbed at the gym and focused on themselves, but I know it's easier said than done to try to not feel self-conscious.

BMK · 12/02/2023 18:34

Ok,thank you so much all re reminding me to just do it (*as Nike would say!) There is a pool too so when it's quiet I could venture in there too. I'm sorry @DesertSnow that you still at 16,1 have nausea!!!! but extremely impressive both you and @CityKity re keeping up the running and gym notwithstanding!
I am 15,1 today and actually given that 12 weeks took forever I am actually surprised how kind of quickly these weeks are creeping by ,in contrast.

It is really helping that the evenings are getting brighter and we have the prospect of warmth coming again!!!
Good luck tm @BCxx and @AnnieApple123 I am truly so happy that you are feeling better. Was it the Consultant who really did it do you think or the therapist any? @BCxx how are you finding your expensive therapist? (Albeit you are probably in a totally different head space with current news dropped from the sky!)
