@UsernameNotPresent 😂 I can imagine! Well that makes me feel better. I've read online you can have around 3 cups of tea. It's the thing I look forward too!

tax19 · 10/02/2023 16:09

@AnnieApple123
Well not being a tea drinker comes in handy for pregnancy though! Hah
Thank you, I was child protection and stressed to the max! Interestingly enough as soon as I moved job roles I fell pregnant, I really think the stress affected my fertility but I am no medic anyway.
But it is lovey working with lovely adopters

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 10/02/2023 16:37

I've completely dropped caffeinated drinks (although I really miss my morning coffee) but I sacrificed that for chocolate I'm afraid 😂

Createcomet · 10/02/2023 16:50

So much lovely scan news since I was last here! 💛

How are those of us parenting toddlers doing?

My 2 year old has seemingly decided to drop his nap this week 😭 parenting a very active 2 year old alone for 11 hours is HARD! He's barely let me do anything at all today. We've been to a shop to buy birthday presents, had lunch, played in the garden, put the food shopping delivery away and now it's nearly time to start cooking dinner. Haven't even managed to hoover today, the house is ab absolute state. I can barely keep on top of the mess he's creating let alone do any actual cleaning! Urgh.

Mulner88 · 10/02/2023 16:58

@tax19 I'm having a cup of coffee a day! I couldn't give it up but it's fine as long as you don't go over 200mg. So I wouldn't worry, your 2 cups of tea a day is okay! ☺️

AnnieApple123 · 10/02/2023 17:22

@Createcomet I’ll write more later but the short answer is struggling!

Narwhal88 · 10/02/2023 17:27

@tax19 I gave up caffeine completely 2 years ago as it's meant to help fertility/ IVF. Switched to organic decaf tea which is very much not the same. I have started to just have decaf (not organic) again which is better. The Yorkshire tea decaf is the most normal.
Since I gave it up completely if I have a can of caffeinated coke or tea then I can get heart palpitations and can't sleep at night 😂 it's amazing what you get used to.

UsernameNotPresent · 10/02/2023 17:30

@Createcomet our house is clean for about 2 hours after cleaner comes once a week. Any other time it's firefighting the chaos.
Solidarity re parenting toddlers. They are soooo full of energy.. and I fall asleep if I sit down. That's not a good combination 🤣

I nightweaned my DS last week (should have done much earlier, only took 3 nights and he didn't even cry properly). And guess what, he slept through the night for the first time day before yesterday (at grand age of 2 years 3 months)! In his bed! 🥹 He is losing interest in daytime breastfeeds now, so I am keeping everything crossed he will self wean in the next few months.

@AnnieApple123 I hope you feel better soon.

buttercupbee · 10/02/2023 17:33

@tax19 I have maximum 2 cups of normal tea a day and if I want another cup I have decaf :)

DesertSnow · 10/02/2023 17:39

Thanks all for advice about hearing the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment. I think I will ask, as I have been anxious there might be something wrong (based on nothing really, just nerves and overthinking).

@tax19 I used to be a big tea drinker but switched to decaf when ttc. Since becoming pregnant, I can't stand the stuff, which is helpful in a way I guess, though I miss the ritual.

unluckyinlife · 10/02/2023 18:30

@Createcomet I nearly wrote the same thing earlier although mine are a bit older. I'm actually worried about half term week as my 5 year old and my 4 year old (who is in part time nursery) are home for the next 10 days!

My daughter has been a bit of a terror the last few days with throwing herself on the floor and whinging crying for 20 minutes about not getting her way. Yesterday it was a meltdown about the fact she didn't want to wear her pink dressing gown and wanted me to go upstairs and find her spiderman one!!

today seems like a whole different world but I've spent the last few days thinking I wouldn't cope with 3..

Createcomet · 10/02/2023 19:14

@unluckyinlife I feel like this is the problem with being pregnant isn't it, you find yourself being like "I can barely cope with the child(ren) I've got let alone another, what the hell have I done?" 🤣 my 2 year old is full of tantrums at the moment, I can totally relate (some of them are hilarious though!)

You won't be the only person feeling like this as we approach half term. I'm hoping my 2 year old will go to preschool 3 days a week in Jan next year and already I'm like "errr....how the hell am I gonna work in the holidays?!" It's causing me genuine stress 🤦‍♀️

I kind of don't mind the relentlessness of parenting so much, if it weren't for the fact that I'm never sure what I've done with my day. Like today, I've barely achieved anything constructive, I've basically just kept us all alive, fed, clothes washed etc....but I've done no work, no exercise....nothing 🤦‍♀️ it doesn't feel great to have got to the end of the day and just "survived". I'm probably just too ambitious 🤣

somuchtolearnabout · 10/02/2023 19:37

@tax19 On the caffeine front, in all 3 pregnancies so far I've totally lost my taste for coffee / tea which is bizarre as I drink it by the gallon ordinarily! But it has been replaced with full fat cans of coke which are lining my fridge these days instead. I haven't really been watching my caffeine intake but I know I do definitely have caffeine at least once a day.

Amme18 · 10/02/2023 20:20

@somuchtolearnabout same here! Normally live off coffee! Even the fancy ones I’m not bothered about. I’ve been having ovaltine or blackcurrant juice with hot water for hot drinks (because it’s bloody freezing and I need warmth from the inside 😂).
But love a full fat coke now! Stopped buying them in so I can’t have too much though because I also have a major sweet tooth so chocolate 🙄

ChloeN · 10/02/2023 21:14

Ladies who have felt movement or been pregnant before, was it really low early on? I keep feeling something in the space between my belly button and my bits🤣 but is the baby still really low down at this stage??

Amme18 · 10/02/2023 21:34

its belly button by 20 weeks and above pelvis by 12 weeks so yeah somewhere in that space 🤣 it’s like little bubbles popping or butterflies xx

P1pk · 10/02/2023 22:33

@tax19 I've only ever been a tea person and decaf since November but now I'm put off everything. I am having chocolate though so can't say I'm caffeine free! I've had a costa chai latte a twice but those days avoid anything more!

Paintandpots · 10/02/2023 22:37

@unluckyinlife and @Createcomet pregnancy with a little one, what a new ball game. I'm also just surviving getting us through the day. Can't go out today little toddler has had a fever and a very sorry sneezy nose. Poor little guy.

In sure surviving is just the thing the midwife advised lol. She told me not to sweat the housework too much... except the laundry.

Today something new, after eating something that would normally actually stay down, an hour later i vomited it back up, and simultaneously peed myself. Thanks previous pregnancy☺️. So another good that i will be likely staying clear of.

@ChloeN congratulations on feeling movement!

Coffee nah. Coke and 7up yay. Anyone else finding fizzy pop handy for morning sickness?

Paintandpots · 10/02/2023 22:40

@P1pk I've never been one for tea or coffee, but now even chocolate is not that interesting for me. Its just fizzy pop at the moment with morning sickness and helpful little energy boost even if it doesn't last or is a placebo effect...

UsernameNotPresent · 11/02/2023 06:43

For me, with DS first movement felt like rubber band flicking.
I think I felt something this time around around already, but it's still difficult to tell if it's gas 🤣

Amme18 · 11/02/2023 07:27

@UsernameNotPresent im 15 weeks and over the last week I’ve definitely felt it if I’m still and really concentrate 🤣 but before that I had lots of “is this gas or baby”.

I had the dry acid retching last night which was awful 😩 But I’d not had tea and just picked at a few bits over the evening so think that’s why.

I was having coke for breakfast at one point to stop the sickness and give me some sort of energy. Other half dared suggest I need to watch myself for gestational diabetes 😒 Would like to see him try and grow a baby.

Recoba · 11/02/2023 12:47

@somuchtolearnabout same here, can't stand caffeine when pregnant, but live on tea normally. Also gone heavily off dairy, but that happened last time as well and I spent the late second and third trimesters drinking something like a litre or two of milk a day!

Really hoping the nausea and sickness stops soon. Made a cake this morning, so that's me hopefully sorted for the rest of the day!

I've been referred to obstetrics due to shoulder dystocia in first pregnancy (very happy to talk about this if anyone has any worries/questions about it), not really sure what will happen (the appointment isn't until April) - I've already looked up all the statistics on recurrence and I know where I want to give birth (MLU on hospital site, same as last time) so hopefully they'll just support that and give me more information.

Marmaladebear · 11/02/2023 17:13

@tax19 I'm having one tea and one coke a day. Wish I could drink coffee but can't stomach it right now - I should hopefully be able to later on though!

Potterurotter · 11/02/2023 17:46

@Createcomet i have a almost 15 month old atm and I’m on my own with her all weekend and my god I need a lie down in a dark room! @tax19 im also a social worker with adults with learning disabilities I bet working in fostering is nice x

ChloeN · 11/02/2023 18:05

@Potterurotter @tax19 I admire you ladies being social workers! I went to uni for it but I dropped out I got so put off it just seemed all negative🤣
