@ChloeN 100% yess! Earlier this week I felt better and thought it was all over but its back since yesterday and I want it to go away! I also had to go into work today and feel so exhausted since being home. Does the tiredness go in 2nd trimester?

@Wife2b so sorry you're scan was not great.

Great news that everyone's having their scans!

@sommeliermama welcome!

Amme18 · 09/02/2023 22:05

Lovely scan pics! ❤️

@ChloeN yes! Not the same can’t eat anything sickness like before thank god but randomly gip?! Ive got horrendous acid reflux though already and that doesn’t help 🙄 but yeah in a morning if I gip once I’m being sick. My little boy has started pretending to do it then saying I’m sick like mummy 😒

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 09/02/2023 22:09

Thank you @AnnieApple123 🥰

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 09/02/2023 22:11

So glad everybody's scans went okay today. So lovely to see so many of getting to the 12 week mark xx

cococat88 · 09/02/2023 22:25

Had my 12 week scan today at 13 weeks and all went well. Baby was very uncooperative 🤨😁 and I ended up having to do star jumps to get it to move into the right position to be measured 🤣 EDD 17th August eeek 😍

BCxx · 10/02/2023 06:01

Glad everyone’s scans went well 😊 It does feel like a relief but as people have been saying for the last few weeks it’s a strange feeling as I think you expect to feel more relieved than you do. I feel weird about the whole thing. We’ve told everyone and as much as it’s exciting telling them, it’s just an odd feeling! I think it just doesn’t really feel real still 🤷🏼‍♀️

Narwhal88 · 10/02/2023 08:10

@cococat88 we are due date twins, also 17th August 🥰

Alpacabag22 · 10/02/2023 08:36

@ChloeN Me too! The nausea isn't constant like it was in trimester 1 which I'm relieved about. But now I feel like when I do throw up it's more out of the blue which can also cause problems! 🙈

I stopped taking my pregnacare vitamins bc I think the iron was making me throw up almost as soon as I swallowed them. So switched to the tiny NHS ones that just have folic, vit c ,vit d. I might try going back to the pregnacare ones if things are better in a week or so as I do worry about missing out on iron etc.

Hope the sickness phase fully passes for us all soon!

AnnieApple123 · 10/02/2023 08:50

Great news @BCxx and @cococat88 . I’ve got the list fully up-to-date now I think and it’s a good distribution of dates.

I know what you mean @BCxx . Although it was a relief, I also expected to feel a lot more relieved. I still find it difficult to relax and take anything for granted.

I’m feeling much better though after my 16 week obstetrician appointment yesterday - even more so than after my therapist appointment earlier in the week in fact. She was so confident and reassuring. I talked to her about some of the rare complications which have been worrying me (not going to go into specifics as don’t want anyone else here to start convincing themselves they’re going to get them too!). She said she had only seen the one I’ve been particularly obsessing about twice in 35 years of practice and that all turned out fine in both cases and the mothers and babies were able to go home the next day. Somehow this felt much more reassuring than just hearing dry statistics. I’m really hoping this will mark a turning-point for me and that I’ll be able to be a bit more positive from now on.

And yes @ChloeN I am still gagging on vitamins! Frustratingly even with taking vitamins C, D, B6, zinc, N-acetyl-cysteine and probiotics for immunity I still managed to get ill.

@DesertSnow re: hearing the heartbeat at 16 week appointment. I didn’t do this. However, if you particularly wanted to and this was a concern for you, I’m sure they’d be happy if you asked.

sally16 · 10/02/2023 09:02

We don't get heart beat at any appointment until 24 weeks here!
I asked at 16 weeks and they said it's not routine anymore due to causing more stress sometimes if they can't find it due to position etc!

So don't stress if they don't do it! My midwife said if I can't get a 16 week app not to stress as it's just blood pressure anyway 😂

Miraclesdohappen88 · 10/02/2023 09:10

@ChloeN still suffering bad nausea and odd vomiting over here! Mornings are my worst time then generally not bad rest of the day if I eat something regularly. Has anyone else had mild cramping that comes and go occasionally? Bit like very light period pains, every symptom still fills me with anxiety.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 10/02/2023 10:52

@AnnieApple123 glad you are feeling more relaxed now after yesterday's appointment. Anything that helps is worth it ☺️

buttercupbee · 10/02/2023 11:42

@Miraclesdohappen88 I’ve been having quite a bit of cramping, I’m hoping it’s just everything stretching in there! It feels a bit like mild period pains

Mulner88 · 10/02/2023 12:01

@sally16 I realised after my 16 week app that the midwife didn't take my blood pressure 🤔 I thought this would be standard but to be fair I didn't think of it at the time either 😂

Potterurotter · 10/02/2023 14:08

Hi all mind if I join? I’m due with my second august 15th but will have earlier due to need for c section. I thought I had a miscarriage at 7/8 weeks yet here we are. Nice to meet you all

LS888 · 10/02/2023 14:37

Welcome @Potterurotter! everyone is very friendly/chatty on here.

Well done everyone on the scans this week- such a welcome relief! All this talk of scans is making me want to book another one! My 12 week one was 3 weeks ago now and the next one is 5 weeks today. It seems like such a long wait! I do have my 16 week appointment next week though but doesn’t seem like that is very exciting from the sounds of it. I also have heard a heartbeat. Just saw it on the scan.

UsernameNotPresent · 10/02/2023 15:12

I have a day off today. Sitting in a sofa, eating everything that's not nailed down, and crying at adverts. Hormones are crazy.

UsernameNotPresent · 10/02/2023 15:13

On a sofa, that is. I don't think I will be able to fit in a sofa now..

AnnieApple123 · 10/02/2023 15:23

Welcome @Potterurotter !

@LS888 interestingly I’m the opposite and quite dreading my next scan. I’m wondering how late I can get away with making it. 21 or 22 weeks maybe?

@UsernameNotPresent 😆 I’m on the sofa too. I was meant to take DS to story time at the library this afternoon but just couldn’t manage it. Luckily he’s not bothered. I’m frustrated that I went straight from the first trimester to illness which I’m still getting over. I’m very much hoping next week will be better.

Hello all, so lovely seeing scan photos!
Out of interest how much caffeine are people having. I am a big tea drinker so now have decafe but it's just not the same so been having around 2 cups of normal tea a day. I am also a social worker for adoption so do a lot of visits and get offered tea ect.
Just out of interest have people gone completely caffeine free?
Thank you x

UsernameNotPresent · 10/02/2023 15:56

@tax19 I am drinking 1-2 cups of coffee per day. I tried going without but I just feel like a roadkill without it. I managed to go completely caffeine free my first pregnancy, but definitely can't do it this time around.
I do remember my first caffeinated cup of coffee about 4 months post partum, I thought I could see sounds 😂

AnnieApple123 · 10/02/2023 16:02

@tax19 I’ve never been a tea or coffee fan anyway so I’m afraid I can’t (I used to get a lot of comments on this when I lived abroad - ‘How on earth can you be British and not drink tea?!’ etc. But I simply don’t). That sounds like a fascinating job you do. I still have thoughts about what to do if this pregnancy doesn’t work out as I’m not sure I could go through TTC again. Adoption is definitely something I’d consider.

(That said, the thought of a bar of dark chocolate is very appealing right now!)
