@jjeanii I’ve definitely heard of couples who have managed to make it work out with one knowing the sex and the other not.

What's the difference between a next to me crib and a Moses basket 🧺? I'm not sure what to get ?

UsernameNotPresent · 09/02/2023 07:13

@jjeanii Next2Me is like a wee side cart that attaches to your bed. Baby has its own space to sleep but there is no partition between you and them. Makes it very handy for getting to them in the night, and if you BF you can roll them back into it after a feed (or flop your boob into there, anatomy permitting). Moses basket is a stand alone basket thing on legs. I find they grow out of Moses basket fairly quickly, but Next2Me can last up to 6 months or even longer. I had Moses basket for downstairs (which DS outgrew quickly) and Next2Me for overnight sleeping upstairs in our bed, and I found Next2Me a lot more useful for the night as it saved me physically getting out of bed for night wakes.

Anyone else not showing at all yet? I'm nearly 15 weeks and if it weren't for the 12 week scan photos stuck to the fridge and the nausea I wouldn't know at all now 🙃 my first so heard it can take longer but feeling really weird having a flat stomach when I lie down?

sally16 · 09/02/2023 07:50

I found the Moses basket a waste of money after 2 weeks :( we found the next to me lasted ages!
And used the pram for day time naps downstairs if I needed to put him down :)

This was me in my first pregnancy. I was desperate to start showing but it wasn’t obviously noticeable to others until more like 20 weeks.

This time round is a very different story however.

Todays the day! Those having their 12 week scan today, how are you feeling? I’m terrified and feel sick to my stomach. When’s everyone’s appointment? Mines at 1:40 ahhh.

AnnieApple123 · 09/02/2023 08:02

I was going to say the same about Moses baskets having a very short life span. Annoying as there are some beautiful ones.

@ChloeN I love how organised you are. We haven’t got a thing!

Unexpectedly got a very quick look at baby yesterday 😍 their little heart was so clear on the screen beating away. I had to go for an extra scan to make sure everything was ok with my cervix, luckily everything’s fine and some extra reassurance baby is okay 🥰.

ChloeN · 09/02/2023 08:37

@Sjw30 Ive had a Pinterest list of baby things I wanted since starting ttc so feel like I was prepared🤣 fab news about the baby looking all good xx

@Wife2b good luck today! I’ve got my 15 week rescan today, I’ve already been sick twice so that’s probably anxiety

Sjw30 · 09/02/2023 08:41

@ChloeN thank you hope yours goes well today

AnnieApple123 · 09/02/2023 08:53

@ChloeN I was just like that with a Pinterest list first time too. I’d had it a couple of years and had so much fun with it. Good luck today.

I’m just waiting for a Covid test result to check that I can go to my obstetrics review today (I called them yesterday to tell them I’d been unwell and they asked me to test in the morning). It’s taking me back to pregnancy test days again. Just painful…

@Wife2b mine is at 2:30. Feels like so long away 😂
Good luck with yours. I think there are a few of us today so hopefully some lovely scan photos later x

SnowL2021 · 09/02/2023 09:41

Agree with Moses baskets having a short lifespan. Our son outgrew his within three months. However, we found ours very useful - we popped it on the kitchen table (with the baby inside!) while having our tea… had it outside the bathroom while showering… used it in the living room while our (small-ish) dog ran around the floor… etc

BCxx · 09/02/2023 09:48

Feel like I’ve been MIA the last week or two on here 🙈 I was just trying to get myself to the day I thought would never come.. Thursday 9th February 🤣🥳

Good luck today and good luck to all the other 9th Feb 12 week scan team 🙊 Are you telling people today? I really don’t know what to do!

@Wife2b

We did the same and I think this time with a toddler to possibly keep baby away from at times it will be good again. We were considering just using the pram but I said that last time and ended up using the Moses basket loads. When we were in the inbetween phase of him not having an actual bed time but still needing a late feed we’d watch tv with him in it then carry it up to our room, sometimes watch tv there (and stay up as late as possible) then do the last change/feed of the night. I couldn’t do that with the pram so if I’ve still got it somewhere 🤞🏼 Il use it again

Narwhal88 · 09/02/2023 09:53

Good luck to everyone having scans today!

Following the moses basket tips with interest 🤣 if you don't have one and don't want a pram inside then where do you put baby downstairs??
My living room carpet is very light so I wouldn't put the pram in there.

AnnieApple123 · 09/02/2023 10:17

@Narwhal88 We managed well with just a mat on the floor. I’ll see if I can find a link later to the one we had which was nicely raised and padded. I used to put different black and white pictures next to it and mobiles over it. This was obviously without an older child around as well though, which brings new challenges.

Sjw30 · 09/02/2023 10:30

@Narwhal88 I’ve been wondering this! Especially as we have a dog I’d rather the baby be in something I think.

ChloeN · 09/02/2023 10:48

@Narwhal88 ive seen people use a dokatot or sleep pillow thing and have it on the sofa! I would do that but my dog would probably sit on the baby’s head 🤣

Narwhal88 · 09/02/2023 10:48

Thanks @AnnieApple123 though like @Sjw30 I have a dog so not sure about leaving baby on the floor. She's a bouncy, cheeky cockapoo and would lick baby all over 😂

Narwhal88 · 09/02/2023 10:49

@ChloeN yeah my dog would do the same. She jumps all over the sofas especially when she wants to look out the window! 😂

ChloeN · 09/02/2023 10:57

@Narwhal88 Ive bought a Moses basket, I was against it as she thought she’d be able to knock it over if she jumped up but I found one that can’t fall off 🤣 if not I was going to buy another next to me crib for downstairs xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 09/02/2023 11:10

@BCxx I think we will tell those who don't know at the weekend all being well with our scan today. Probably just send a scan photo though because I don't think we are going to do any social media announcement. Other than nursery ideas on our reno insta page haha.

Good luck with yours today 😊 I am excited to see more scan photos later on
