12wk scan all okay, but LO now measuring as 12+6, rather than 12+2, so due date is now 16th August! (I mostly suspect this means they'll be big again...). Very cute nose!

I have the dullest craving going - tinned tuna! Specifically the tuna mayonnaise & sweetcorn sandwiches from M&S Grin
I'm really struggling only have my 2 tins per week!

I heard the heartbeat for a few secs at my 12 month scan but I didn't ask to, the sonographer just did it so was a nice surprise.
I had my 16 week midwife app today (I'm 15+3) and she never mentioned anything about heartbeat nor did I expect anything. It was actually a really quick appointment and apart from discussing bloods and general questions like how are you feeling etc (thankfully my screening bloods from 12 week scan came back low risk), she didn't really do much 😂

Is 16 week midwife appointment standard or if you need it?

I had my booking appt, my 12 week scan and have a date for my 20 week scan, but I have no other appointments? No 16 week one, no other booked midwife ones? Is that normal?

Seeing so many say about an NHS 16 week one is making me a bit worried?

Report
BoodifulGoose · 07/02/2023 19:08

Never mind, just checked my app and they must have added in an appointment today as it wasn't there yesterday 😂 for 17 weeks. I deffo won't hear heartbeat or anything as its at a centre that has 0 equipment, but just glad I have an appointment 😂

@unluckyinlife oh, that's a while to wait - hope it passes quickly (I guess it might with a nearly 6y and a 4y - they must keep you busy?). Are you doing anything nice for half term? Makes sense not wanting to tell them until later, we're thinking of telling our nearly 3yo after the scan tomorrow, assuming everything is okay.

Glad you've got your best friend coming with you for your scan, my husband is coming to the one tomorrow, but when I got an emergency scan at around 7w after some bleeding my best friend came with me and it was really reassuring to have someone there.

I've started thinking a bit more about birth plans recently - I'm finding it a bit hard to visualise as DS was born in April 2020, so guidelines were changing every 5 minutes due to COVID. E.g. on one of the q&A's the midwives said people get scans at 36 weeks as well, which definitely didn't happen with my first. And my husband wasn't allowed to be with me whilst I was being induced, but I'm assuming that guidance has changed as well!

@Recoba I hope your scan went well ❤️. I'm sure time will fly by between work and school runs I feel like the days go by so quickly! I start training our part time staff member who is going to help out when I'm on maternity leave next week.

I've actually book next Monday and Friday off work to spend with the kids and I can't wait to spend some time with them outside of the normal school week rush. I think we'll do a museum and a day out somewhere for lunch.

We told my son at 12 weeks when I was pregnant last time but he was so young I don't think he understood.

My 5 year old told me I was getting fat and round this morning so I'm not sure realistically how long I can hide it!

I think 36 week scans only happened in my last two pregnancies if the baby is suspected breach or if there is growth concerns. I had 2 Weekly growth scans for my daughter from 28 weeks as my son was only just over 4lb full term. Apparently I don't need them this time but I enjoyed the extra reassurance last time.

I’ve just checked my appointments and looks like have a 16 week midwife one at 19+2 😅 and then my 20 week scan at 21+3.

@Mulner88 so it was really just a check in chat that you had with the midwife today? No bloods/urine this time? I had my blood results from the 12 week scan back during that appointment so I guess there’s no need to discuss those.

Anyone else struggling with evening bloat? Especially after exercise / a big meal / high waited trousers my stomach swells and gets so big and sore with bloating by the evening! I think I need to start eating smaller portions more often and retire my office trousers for slightly less restrictive trousers!

Report
Mulner88 · 07/02/2023 19:34

@CityKity oh she took a urine sample but no bloods. Apparently, they do more bloods at 28 weeks I think for iron levels. It really was just a brief chat about the blood results, symptoms or if I had any questions. She also gave me the form that you can bring to the dentist for free dental care. She said we get the MAT B1 for (I think it's called) at the 28 week appointment. But yeh, it defo wasn't as long/detailed as the booking appointment.

I'm also very bloated in the evenings and today it was all day 🙄

Report
BoodifulGoose · 07/02/2023 19:45

@CityKity I'm only bloated 😭😂 14 weeks and desperate for a bump to start showing but I'm 100% it's only bloating 😂

I'm shovelling food back like there's no tomorrow though as it keeps nausea at bay!

@Recoba aww lovely! Can I ask when you are measuring ahead.. does that tie in with your last period date or are you like extra days on that too? Two days til mine and I’m so hoping I’m a bit further on than I’m expecting haha

I honestly could pass for about 6 months pregnant by night time 🙈 I’ve put on a stone since before I was pregnant but I was at peak fitness and one of my lightest weights so I’m thinking I just shouldn’t let this continue the whole way through and calm it with the biscuits then I won’t be as bad as last time. By the end last time I had another 3 stone extra on this weight!

Scan is on Thursday (finally!) and I really don’t know how I feel about telling people but feel like I kind of have to. I won’t put it on social media or anything but I remember last time thinking there were a few friends who I didn’t speak to regularly but didn’t want them to find out via a later Facebook post or hear from someone else so felt I had to message them. I think now I’ve been through it once and those who havent visited or made any effort with #1 I now think it’s a bit odd to message and tell them I’m having another one! I think I just won’t this time.

Also realllly don’t want to tell the in-laws and start all the awkward ‘how are you?’ messages every day 🙄 I feel like it’s actually ruining my excitement and making me feel a bit flat because I know I have to tell them before friends and my MIL is such a big gossip and is obsessed with over sharing people’s private medical information.. she will have some inappropriate judgey comment to make. She made a big point about the fact I had a section last time so I guarantee that’s mentioned within 5 seconds of telling her 🙈 I need to just get it over with but just don’t want to tell herrrr 😭

Spent about 3 hours waiting for the doctor at the maternity day unit this morning but baby is well, phew! No cause for the bleeding was found but it seems to have stopped by itself.

@BCxx so I think according to natural cycles, which knew when I'd ovulated, my due date should have been the 20th, then LMP with the midwife put my due date as the 18th, so I think I'm about +4 from where I should be (which I think fits with what happened with my first as well). Hope your scan goes well - not long to go now!

@unluckyinlife oh lovely, hope you have a nice time out next week! We told our nearly 3 year old this evening. He was very positive, asked what its name was, insisted it was a sister, and said it was "so cute!" when we showed him the scan photos. Hopefully he remains this positive!

@BusyBushBaby glad all is okay with baby❤️

@BCxx I hoped the same, I was a day ahead at my 10 week scan and then 2/3 days ahead by 12 weeks, but obviously the baby moved too much for it be accurate so be interesting to see what it is at my rescan!

@BusyBushBaby thats a relief, glad all is okay

@ChloeN I had two early scans this time but the first one was so early that I really don’t even know what date they said from that. I think the next one was possibly a day behind LMP but just hoping baby has caught up and saves me a few extra days of being pregnant 😂

@Recoba its mad how it all works! They do seem to take the 12 week scan measurement as gospel though so will go with that regardless of LMP or anything else. Praying I get a day or two added on 🤞🏼

I'm 15 weeks +3 and I'm really tempted to get a gender scan booked , this is my 4th but 1st with my new partner after my divorce, It's his first child and he wants a surprise I'm just hoping if I get the gender scan I can keep it secret as I don't want to ruin this special surprise for him. I haven't been pregnant since 2009 so every thing seems like new kind of again

@Alpacabag22 So glad to hear all has turned out well and that the worry has passed now. Must be such a relief. xx

@BusyBushBaby Really pleased to hear all is well with you too. Sorry you had such a wait. xx

Hope you’re feeling better now @ChloeN . Did you buy much on your shopping trip?

I’ve managed to get conjunctivitis which is not at all nice. I’ve never had it before but it’s apparently not uncommon in pregnancy. It’s viral so just have to wait for it to pass. Tomorrow is my 16 week appointment, although I’ve seriously thought about postponing as an so uncomfortable. I spoke to the secretary today who said to see how I feel by morning and update them then.

@Recoba My first measured 10 days ahead at the first scan despite the conception date being certain. We were too late to get a NT measurement. He also measured very big. At 20 weeks he was over the 95th centile. He was born at term on the 25th centile. I just couldn’t take any size estimates seriously again after that!

@AnnieApple123 still got an irritating cough but I feel better in myself! I messaged the midwife for reassurance as was panicking the constant coughing might cause harm! Hope you’ve been okay! We ended up ordering a next to me crib, then just got some clothes! I tried not to go too mental🤣

@ChloeN Hope you got a reassuring response. We have one of those cribs and it’s worked out very well for us.
