@MinnieFirstTimeMum sorry to hear of all the stress you've got going on! Definitely don't need that on top of growing a baby!

@Sjw30 yes I've got sciatic pain too down my right leg but mostly upper leg and bum 🙈 mine only comes on when I've been walking or on my feet a while but then nothing helps apart from lying down or putting my feet up. I've not been exercising since getting pregnant like I used to though so I'm going to try some yoga and stretching. If you Google sciatic stretches there's some that I find help a bit. Really hoping it doesn't get worse🤞

Amme18 · 06/02/2023 20:05

@CityKity I’ve actually found it really awkward telling people! I’ve not put it on social media, I have told all my close friends and family. I just feel like if I put it out into the world I’m jinxing it. Definitely wasn’t this anxious last time.

@Sjw30 long standing sciatica sufferer here.. i’ve always gone down the drug route BUT had physio this last time and whenever I feel it coming on just do some of the exercises to “release” the nerve. Seems to work. Google sciatica exercises, they’re pretty gentle!

Sjw30 · 06/02/2023 20:18

@marleyandme @Amme18 thank you both I’ll have a look at some exercises

BusyBushBaby · 06/02/2023 20:23

@MinnieFirstTimeMum omg that sounds like a total nightmare! Did you take photos? Did your solicitor have any advice?

@Alpacabag22 so glad the nipt came back low risk

I'm stressing because I've had some bleeding this afternoon/evening. Mostly old blood. Got an appointment at maternity day unit tomorrow. Strong heartbeat on my home doppler (and yes I'm confident I can tell the difference between baby's heartbeat and mine). Really hoping all is well. I was warned the loss of twin 2 might cause bleeding at some point and also had a very physical day yesterday carrying a tantruming toddler on a walk.

P1pk · 06/02/2023 20:40

Evening ladies, lovely seeing everyone catch up today! Sorry for those feeling poorly and generally urgh I'm hopping between feeling ok to feeling sick the next day!

@Sjw30 I find sleeping on my back with pillow under my knees helps a lot but I'm not sure how many weeks you are and if it's safe to still sleep on back. Take a look online

I had my 12 week scan today, still due on 19th Aug! Baby was mostly asleep but moved towards the end of our scan and turned around for us too!

Ohh I’ll try that @P1pk I’m 13 weeks I believe its still safe, I’m so fidgety in my sleep it probably won’t last long anyway ha but I’ll give it a go ☺️. Great scan picture!

newmummie · 06/02/2023 20:51

Anyone good at the skull + nub theory ? So I can send in a scan pic :))

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 06/02/2023 21:09

Thank you @marleyandme
@BusyBushBaby being a lawyer myself I know that the next step is to go to small claims court. My only option on the day was to call the police to have her removed for trespassing. But I was so consumed with making her take her stuff that didn't seem like the best option.
I took lots of photos but to be honest putting a claim together and submitting it to court, on top of work and my own clients, my masters and getting this house ready in time for baby's arrival seems trivial somehow. Maybe I will change my mind when it has all settled a little 😊

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 06/02/2023 21:10

@BusyBushBaby so sorry you are having some bleeding. At least you have the reassurance of heartbeat though 🥰

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 06/02/2023 21:11

@P1pk lovely scan photo. Congratulations x

P1pk · 06/02/2023 21:49

@Sjw30 thank you. Yes you should be fine for a few weeks, give it a go. It seems to work for me after a few nights.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum thankyou 😊

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 07/02/2023 12:21

Does anybody have any recommendations for pregnancy pillows? I can't help but roll from my side onto my back/front, I know that it is still safe to do so for now but want to try and get into the habit. So I was kind of hoping a pregnancy pillow might stop me from doing so x

DesertSnow · 07/02/2023 13:05

@BusyBushBaby sorry to hear about the bleeding, but glad you have reassurance of hearing the heartbeat.

Does anyone know if they're likely to listen to the heartbeat at the 16 week scan? I'm finding the gap between NHS scans really long and struggling with thoughts that something could be wrong and I don't know. DH doesn't want us to get a private scan (cost reasons) so it would be reassuring to hear that at my appointment next week. Not sure if it's standard, depends on Trust or I'd you have to ask to hear it?

Amme18 · 07/02/2023 13:31

@DesertSnow i’m pretty sure it’s standard across NHS! Is there anyone you know who’s had a baby local to you you could ask to see if it’s right for your area? X

nadsc · 07/02/2023 13:59

@DesertSnow in my trust the midwife does heartbeat with a Doppler at 16 week appointment which is nice. Then they do it at every midwife appointment. I’ve never heard the heartbeat in any of the nhs scans I’ve had with my daughter after 12 weeks but could just be my trust.

DesertSnow · 07/02/2023 14:00

@Amme18 thank you for your reply 💗 Unfortunately, I don't know anyone local who's had a baby, and a quick Google didn't reveal anything. I think if try don't offer, I'll ask about it. Just so long to wait for any kind of reassure that baby's ok!

DesertSnow · 07/02/2023 14:08

@nadsc ah thank you, I really hope it's the same with mine. It was amazing hearing the heartbeat at the 12 week scan, I was basically crying with relief.

nadsc · 07/02/2023 14:10

I’m sure it is - if not the 16 week midwife appointment, all the ones after for sure. You’ll be feeling baby move soon too so that will be a reassurance for you. X

DesertSnow · 07/02/2023 14:42

@nadsc absolutely, can't wait to feel baby move. My words might come back to haunt me when I'm further along and baby is keeping me awake with its kicking, but I'm here for it 😁x

nadsc · 07/02/2023 14:50

@DesertSnow its literally the best feeling in the world. That’s my favourite part of pregnancy. It’s mental but amazing

ChloeN · 07/02/2023 15:03

@MinnieFirstTimeMum i got the Bbhugme after a few girls mentioned it on here, I’ve loved it so far!

@DesertSnow Ive heard mixed response to Dopplers at the 16 week appt, I think it depends on where you live!

Marmaladebear · 07/02/2023 15:14

Ooh I hope I get to hear my baby at 16 weeks! I had my son in lockdown so my 16 week appointment was over the phone last time 🙃

Serious baby brain today... Got the tube at lunchtime to work from home the rest of the day and get home in time for 2pm call - was on the train for about 10 mins then realised I left my work phone at the office and had to go all the way back 🙄 wasted so much time! Had to go back though because planning to WFH the rest of the week and it would look really bad if my work phone was just left there all week!!

I'm 13 weeks today and it's going sooo slow. Obviously feel very lucky to be pregnant but the sickness is awful. I'm throwing up every evening at least once but usually a lot more. Impatiently waiting for the sickness to end 😭

Sorry bit of a negative post today.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 07/02/2023 15:18

Thank you @ChloeN I will have a look for that 🥰

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 07/02/2023 15:57

Reading the messages about heartbeat.
I didn't realise you didn't hear heartbeats at the NHS scans. Is that just standard? I've had a private scan and I heard the heartbeat there so I assumed it would be the same at the NHS 12 weeks scan.

Marmaladebear · 07/02/2023 16:24

@MinnieFirstTimeMum they don't usually do it that early on in NHS scans - they usually show you the heart beat but you don't get to hear it until later on. I think it was mentioned on here on an earlier thread it was because they only want to do it when necessary (because of heat from listening) and it's not deemed necessary at 12 week scan. I heard the heartbeat at my private scan too - they only do it for a few seconds because that's what's safest
