@BCxx Sorry to hear about the smear results, imagine it's a worry having to go through extra tests while pregnant. As you say it doesn't mean it's anything awful, and hopefully you'll get your appointment through soon. Hope all is ok.

@AnnieApple123 Really sorry you're struggling with such anxiety. Hope the therapist can help.

@Createcomet Sorry to hear you're going through such stress, hope it eases up soon.

@jjeanii I hadn't heard that about epidurals, I should probably do some research and find out a bit more about different options.

Has anyone been watching Belfast Midwives? The midwives are all so lovely but every episode just makes me cry so much!

BCxx · 04/02/2023 22:17

@DesertSnow thanks, it seems such a blunt way to tell you, in a letter saying you need to wait 8 weeks for another letter giving you an appointment. At least if you had an appointment arranged I feel like it wouldn’t be so bad! I’ve made the mistake of googling and some places are saying waits are up to a year due to covid backlog, really hope that isn’t the case here. Looked up how much it would be to go privately near me.. £1700! 😩 So I will hang off and see if the letter comes soon

sally16 · 04/02/2023 22:21

@BCxx I like to think if it's not something to be immediately concerned about them they won't rush!
If it was really concerning then you'd likely have been phoned and asked to come in within a few days/weeks not wait for a letter!
That's just from experience! When my sister had an odd result needing a retest she was asked to come the week later to gynae and was retested and right enough needed treatment tk have the cells removed x

Nic2908 · 04/02/2023 22:24

@BCxx contact your midwife and let her know and see what she says? You never know she might be able to make a few phone calls?? They might not even reccomend doing it as you are pregnant?

BCxx · 04/02/2023 22:28

@sally16 it’s hard to tell whether it’s different in different places but I did see one post saying there’s a letter that says you need to be seen within 2 weeks. They know what grade (?) your cells are so I’m hoping that means mine isn’t the worst one.

BCxx · 04/02/2023 22:31

@Nic2908 on the leaflet it does say the first part is safe in pregnancy but it’s all very vague after that. I’m going to contact her on Monday morning, thinking maybe they’d get me in sooner if need be because I’m pregnant. Although at the same time kind of think what would be the point in them rushing me in if they can’t really do anything about it until the baby is out 🙈 If it’s 2 months for an appointment letter then however long for an appointment, il be 5 months before I even get the letter so might end up being nearer the end by the time anything was actually needing done

sally16 · 04/02/2023 22:39

@BCxx I'd take @Nic2908 advice and call midwife! Totally forgot they don't like doing them when pregnant!
Might speed it up/change course x

BusyBushBaby · 05/02/2023 07:59

I'm sorry @BCxx that timing sucks! I agree that taking to your midwife is probably a good idea.

Can anyone share the link of the Facebook group again please? I think I'm feeling ready to join (or as ready as I'm going to be for a good while anyway!)

jjeanii · 05/02/2023 11:04

Desert Snow yes when I found out I was pregnant I watched all of the Belfast midwives!

BMK · 05/02/2023 12:37

@BCxx sorry to hear that. That's a real pain but liklihood is it should be fine; not that that assists with the wait at all.. I actually have never had a smear test so you're making me think that I maybe should address this.. I am stunned that it could cost so much privately!!! I would be all over this to the point of just going to the place they do the follow ups and getting a cancellation appointment etc explaining something about pregnancy and high anxiety or anything at all you can think of that requires it now not later

ChloeN · 05/02/2023 12:38

Dragged the boyfriend baby shopping today, to be fair he seems to actually not be hating it too much when shopping is normally his least favourite thing 🤣

BCxx · 05/02/2023 13:14

@BMK someone did say this on another thread I was reading, they said they got a letter saying it was a 44 week wait so they phoned and begged them for a cancellation and were phoned later that week. I’m going to phone the midwife tomorrow first and go from there. Just hoping it is no more than an 8 week wait for an appointment, so many places seem to have a huge backlog now which kinda defeats the purpose of the test to catch it early 🤷🏼‍♀️ Yeah you should definitely go for one! Luckily I did book within a few weeks of my letter coming in

MummaYoung2023 · 05/02/2023 13:44

Am due 26th August with baby number 4.
Have 8 year old twin boys and a 3 year old little girl.

Am currently 11 weeks pregnant and showing already. Also struggling so bad with this pregnancy. Morning sickness is horrendous, emotions are all over the place, constantly exhausted and my anxiety is through the roof (two family members are currently going through miscarriages).

Just feel so alone and no one knows at present except our parents but feel like I can’t talk to them as don’t want to worry them.

Scan is on the 14th and it can’t come soon enough. X

Asher19992 · 05/02/2023 14:43

Had scan this week. Baby was very active and measuring just where we thought. However they were unable to get image of the brain. They assured me it was due to baby’s position. But now I am worrying. They are giving me a scan this week again to try and get the image. Has this happened anyone else?

Sjw30 · 05/02/2023 16:24

@Asher19992 baby was too active during my scan too, however I wasn’t offered another scan unfortunately. Like you, they assured me everything looked okay and was just down to movement. I was offered bloods instead, so if they rescan you and still don’t get the results I’m sure they will offer to do your bloods. I believe @ChloeN is having another scan.

ChloeN · 05/02/2023 16:52

@Asher19992 @Sjw30 yep I’m being rescanned on Thursday, they couldn’t date me at all xx

RGxo13 · 05/02/2023 20:44

Hi everyone 💙💖 id love to join this thread. I’m due 8th august. Just booked my gender scan for 23rd feb after 12 week scan being so magical. Can’t wait to see little one again xx

BCxx · 05/02/2023 20:55

@Asher19992 i had a similar thing last time at my 20 week scan and they couldn’t get a clear view of his heart. I had to wait 3 weeks to go back. I was so worried I didn’t tell anyone in case anyone made it more scary but I think it does happen a lot and they just can’t do all the checks they need to. Try not to panic, hope the next one goes straightforward

Amme18 · 06/02/2023 07:15

@Asher19992 my sister in law had the same thing as @BCxx at 20 weeks with the heart. She’s carry’s weight around her middle normally which can make it harder to scan apparently through the fat tissue. They wasn’t concerned though, they’d seen some but not enough to tick their boxes so had her back in xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 06/02/2023 08:11

Wow half way through another thread. So much to catch up on. Firstly congratulations to all of those who have now had their 12 week scans, photos I have quickly looked at are amazing. Mine is on Thursday, but have my NIPT today and I think there is a scan with that too.

Sorry for being MIA for the last two weeks, they have been horrendous and to be honest I have just wanted to pop myself in a little box and lock myself away from the world. We moved into our reno home on the 20th, except the seller refused to leave when we got here or hand over any keys. We arrived after completion and she had so many belongings still here, her cats roaming around the house and she sat on the floor and told us to call the bailiffs to get her out 😭 we finally got her and her stuff (by throwing it all out onto the front) our by 6pm. But we had to get an emergency locksmith due to the lack of keys, and she had left the carpets covered in cat poo and litter everywhere, amongst other stuff, so we had to remove all the carpets that night too! I knew it was going to be a project but due to the state of the house we have had to do a lot more a lot quicker than expected. It was not this filthy when we viewed. Then with having no annual leave left until April I have still had to work full time and my new masters module started last week so having to find time for 20 hours reading too! Oh and because of my spotting I have been put on bed rest!
Happy Monday everybody 😂😂
I am definitely feeling a little bit brighter today which is why I thought I would come back and check in with everybody xx

BCxx · 06/02/2023 08:41

@MinnieFirstTimeMum scan on Thursday here too, can’t come quick enough!

Sorry about your house, that sounds like a nightmare. Good you eventually got rid of her but how disgusting to leave you with that mess 🤦🏼‍♀️

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 06/02/2023 09:18

Aww yay for your scan on Thursday too. We must be pretty close for EDD then if our 12 week scan is on the same day 😊

Wife2b · 06/02/2023 09:48

Hi everyone, only just found this thread! I have my 12 week scan on Thursday too, eek!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 06/02/2023 09:52
