Chose a pram today, kind of unexpectedly. Will start keeping an eye on sales after the 20w scan. Still feeling so anxious, met up with someone I hadn't seen in a long long time and she was asking if we were still TTC and I'm like 'yes, still trying ' while sitting there almost 19w pregnant 😂 I MIGHT have felt some kicka but not sure (first pregnancy to get this far + anterior placenta).
Was going to tell people after the 20w scan but might keep the secret for a bit longer as it just feels safer this way for some reason!

Dewintergarden · 30/01/2023 15:33

Lovely scan photos! I hope you're all doing well.
Baby was hiding for a lot of the anatomy scan today, so only managed half of the measurements. I'm back on the 13th February when she will be 23 weeks nearly. I had a private anatomy scan at 18w4d which showed her measuring on track but obviously this has made some anxieties resurface. The good news is that I've felt her kicking for the last week and she really is nocturnal and seems to love sleeping in the day. Very strangely I've been told I don't have an anterior placenta after all. The private scan at 18w4d said it was posterior and the one today said fundal. Has anyone else had their placenta move?

AngelBlue12 · 30/01/2023 17:05

@Dewintergarden yep placentas move all the time!

Dewintergarden · 30/01/2023 17:08

@AngelBlue12 oh phew, I wasn't sure which one to believe there...

AngelBlue12 · 30/01/2023 17:11

That’s why if your placenta is covering your cervix early on they will always check nearer your due date to see if it’s moved before they book you in for a c sec.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 30/01/2023 18:33

I have a borderline placenta previa, they told me the uterus grows from the bottom out so 9/10 will move. They will scan at 32 weeks see how things are going.

Went to the consultant today and she said it was far too early and she didn't need to see me until 32 week scan is done. Nice to meet her though and she was lovely.

PurBal · 30/01/2023 19:10

@Happinessandrainbows do you feel excited having chosen the pram or still feeling a little anxious? What pram did you go for?

summerpoolandsun · 30/01/2023 20:31

@Happinessandrainbows I feel the same about not telling anyone. We’ve told my parents, DH’s parents and siblings, and I’ve told my two closest friends I’ve known since college, that’s it. I have local friends I haven’t told but see regularly. I thought I would tell them after the 20 week scan but I still don’t feel relaxed enough to say it. It doesn’t help that I have an anterior placenta so even though I’m almost 21 weeks I’m not feeling much. Just don’t want to tell anyone yet. DH said it’s going to start to seem weird as I have quite a bump now! I told him today I want to wait till 24 weeks before telling anyone else but he said I’ll be massive by then!!

Happinessandrainbows · 31/01/2023 09:04

@summerpoolandsun totally get you! You might be able to hide the bump at 24 weeks though depending on what you wear ☺️
@PurBal probably more excited than anxious! We will likely go for Bugaboo 🦊

Big scan this week... Feeling hopeful.

tigerlily0 · 31/01/2023 09:23

Just found out my husband has covid , has cold/ flu symptoms. Iv had covid 2 times in the past both times awful, the second time it really affected my heart.

Should I be concerned, I don't even know how bad covid is anymore. Ppl seem to be poorlier with the flu etc. going to try our best to isolate him and I'm going to disinfect everything.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/02/2023 09:27

Just wondering for those who are pregnant with second but with a big age gap from first. DD will be nearly 8 when dd2 comes. I'm suddenly feeling apprehensive. DD and my relationship is so good, she's our world. I worry will it change and she'll feel less. I feel like I can't love another as much as her. I feel like I'm breaking our family of 3. It's silly I know but was thinking about it overnight. It's strange. Anything else feel this way in same position?

summerpoolandsun · 01/02/2023 10:31

Awe @BellaTheDarkOverlord I do understand. We also have an eight year age gap here. DS is my little hero and my prince. I’ve loved our focus being on him. We started trying when he was 4 so were trying for 4 years with two IVF cycles enroute. So incredibly grateful for our beautiful miracle but I’m actually glad it didn’t happen straight away. When we first started trying I think I basically just thought it was the right thing to do to give him a sibling. We waited till he was four because we were loving our family of three and I got pregnant in the first month of trying with DS so didn’t think they’d be any issues. But then nature played a trick on us and it took four years. I’m sure I will miss the 1:1, the carefree holidays, the late nights and easygoing days where we could take him wherever and do anything as he is so easy. But I was pining more and more for another. I truly wanted another for the joy of another little human being, not just DS’ benefit by the end of TTC.

It helps also that DS is massively excited, has said he will teach her everything he knows so she’s the cleverest kid in school. He wants a big brother jumper and for her to have a little sister one. He’s a gentle boy and very caring so I think he’s going to adore being a big brother. Every night before bed he says ‘let’s talk about what we will do when baby comes’. I’m sure it won’t all be plain sailing but for now he’s hugely excited. Have you talked about baby with DD?

justbelieve · 01/02/2023 11:21

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I have an 8 year age gap with my sister (I’m the eldest) and we’re very close. I was at an age when she was born where I could understand and help my mum “look after the baby” and that made me feel really included and not left out - simple things like passing the nappies and baby wipes and helping to pick out her clothes. It made it all very exciting and I never felt left behind at all.

I don’t have any experience from a mothers perspective as this will be my first, so I can’t help there, but from the perspective of being that first born older sister with a big age gap, I absolutely loved having a baby sister ❤️

toomanysausages · 01/02/2023 13:30

I have my 20 weeks scan tomorrow but I'll only be 19+2 - does anybody think that this is a bit early? And will the results still be accurate?

@tigerlily0
I had covid a few weeks ago and it was just like a bad cold. I'd try to avoid getting it again as don't like being poorly but it wasn't awful.

Happinessandrainbows · 01/02/2023 13:37

@toomanysausages they can be done as early as 18weeks.

Leaf86 · 01/02/2023 15:28

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is doing ok. Just wondered if people are generally getting inconsistent baby movements at around the 22 week mark? Everything I have read suggests it’s too early for a pattern or proper monitoring, but baby has has a couple of quieter days, when he’s usually very active and wriggly.

Happinessandrainbows · 01/02/2023 16:02

@Leaf86 there isn't meant to be a pattern at 22 weeks ☺️

Kladebs · 01/02/2023 16:20

I've been told not to worry or track movements until 24 weeks. Mine have had a couple of quiet days, and I've only just started feeling movement from twin B properly this last week or so, but I've been feeling twin A movements for a while.

How's everyone doing? Spent the night sorting through baby clothes yesterday, I have a ton of 0-3 girls stuff and 3-6 boys but nothing in prem or newborn for either 😂😂
Also still having a nightmare finding a suitable pushchair. Finding a double for 2 newborns on a budget is loads harder than I thought!

Bump finally popped out and feels like I'm getting bigger by the day 😊😂

Leaf86 · 01/02/2023 16:29

Thanks @Happinessandrainbows and @Kladebs Of course as soon as I posted this, baby started giving me some big kicks... 🤦🏼‍♀️ Twin bump is looking great! It’s amazing that you can distinguish the two babies, I can barely work out if I’m getting a leg or an arm or a headbutt. 😂

Going to start making a shopping list soon - as it’s our first we have absolutely nothing and the whole range of options is intense. At the moment the baby is tracking quite big (about a week ahead at each scan) so wondering if we would even need newborn at all or whether to just get 0-3. Also planning a massive sort out of our spare room at the weekend.

Kladebs · 01/02/2023 16:38

@Leaf86 I only know since my last scan, he's quiet low down and super active, she's higher up and lazy 😂
I didn't need nb size for my last 2 babies, they were 9lb 10oz and 9lb 11oz and straight into 0-3.
I'm planning incase they come early and obviously won't be that big if they don't anyway

Happinessandrainbows · 01/02/2023 17:49

@Kladebs that's a lovely bump 😍
I'm okay, can't decide if we want to find out the sex or not! We both think that we will either ask at the end of 20w scan if all is well, of we might keep it a suprise.
Basically, it will be a spontaneous decision made at the time of the scan!
After the scan, we will start hunting pram discounts and looking into things such as wall stickers etc

Hlc86 · 01/02/2023 18:12

My little girl will be nearly 8 when baby comes too and she is so very excited, I was nervous about how she would be but when I told her she said "I asked father Christmas for a baby brother or sister and it's a dream come true" literally makes me cry thinking about it, she says she can't wait to help mummy and how she will be the best big sister ever. I know all children are differant but with the bigger age gap I think they feel more included and understand more so try not to worry

Zaalfruit · 01/02/2023 18:52

Had a scan today. Fetal weight seems really high - I don’t know why I worry about everything. Now I keep thinking should I go on a diet?

firsttimelondonmummy · 01/02/2023 23:13

I’m so jealous of you all feeling movements and getting bumps 😫
My little man is still in hiding apart from a little lower tummy bump and I can’t decide if I’m feeling stretching or if it’s possibly movement and I’m 20 weeks tomorrow 😭
