@Zaalfruit I’m posterior high and still get dull kicks and movements are still super irregular at 27 weeks.
Some days he’s busy all day some days I only feel him in dull movements a handful of times.
Doctor and midwife said it’s just how it is and some babies are like that and not to worry.

@Poppy9876 I had covid for the third time at the start of my second trimester, I wasn’t too ill and everything seems ok. A lot of mums here have caught covid during their pregnancies so try not to worry too much, just keep your temperature down with minimal paracetamol and wearing light clothing.
Hope you feel better soon x

Zaalfruit · 25/03/2023 08:56

I’m 30 weeks now @Ally1992 !
@PurBal im so jealous I want to go on holiday but I don’t want to take the toddler 😂😂😅 now that’s not a holiday . I hope no early labour for you ! Also true about Amazon- my husband has awful taste with baby clothes - whenever he dresses my daughter she looks crazy . I need to set aside her clothes aswell.

@Poppy9876 My trust told us if we have covid to inform them I am actually not sure why. However if you feel like there is less movement please call maternity triage so they can provide support .

Zaalfruit · 25/03/2023 08:59

@firsttimelondonmummy ahh thank you for the reassurance.

PurBal · 25/03/2023 12:56

@Zaalfruit oh we’re taking the toddler, just got his passport back. First time abroad with him and we thought we’d do it whilst heavily pregnant 😂 we are visiting family so hopefully they’ll help out 🤞

Belami · 25/03/2023 15:59

Has anyone any experience of using a tens machine? Just bought the boots one!

Zaalfruit · 25/03/2023 19:08

@Belami i brought a tens machine for labour . However last time I completely forgot about it 😂
I have heard that it’s good to use .

@PurBal if you are visiting family then perfect - they can help entertain the toddler. It would be me and my husband and We wouldn’t be able to chill as We have to watch her like a hawk ( has no fear would wander off ) and I am way to big to run after her.

PurBal · 25/03/2023 19:39

@Belami also heard good things, considering getting one…

Funfamilytimes · 25/03/2023 19:52

I’m going to be using a TENS. Would love to hear some positive thoughts on it 🙏

Junebaby30 · 25/03/2023 20:07

Tens machine, someone said you can rent them from the hospital and I looked on googled and there are quite a few companies you can rent them from. I think I will get one too.

AstroH · 25/03/2023 20:56

@Poppy9876 I had covid week before last, had thought it was just a cold until I completely lost my sense of taste for a couple of days so bought a test. I panicked a bit about how it would affect the baby so went into my MAU on my way home from work and said I was worried about movement. They saw me pretty quick & hooked me up to a machine that measured baby’s heart rate & I had to click every time I felt movement. After a couple of very quiet days, the babe wriggled around relentlessly for the 30 mins or so I was hooked up 😂 If it’s playing on your mind, I’d say go in for peace, I found it very reassuring. Thinking of you.

Here is my bump at 29 weeks, not sure if it is big, small or average? Slightly scared about how big & heavy the bump will be by full term! I’m 30 weeks now and feel like the movement is so much stronger and regular than when I was 26-29 weeks.

I wonder if you guys have had any vaginal infections during pregnancy. I went in for monitoring on Thursday due to the brown bleeding/discharge continuing from Wednesday. They said my cervix is closed and fine but looks like I have infection. I'm now on antibiotics which making my wee green...

Anyway the brown bleeding is still happening and getting worse. If I'm constipated and even strain a little I end up with a lot coming out. It's brown yellow mucus. Tonight I strained again and red blood/discharge mucus came out. I'm worried now as I don't know where it's coming from, maternity assessment don't know where it's coming from. Could it just be the infection causing it? I have no abdominal pains or contractions and baby still moving normally. I left a message for midwife earlier today but probably won't hear back until Monday. I don't want to try assessment again as all they do is tell me cervix is closed and no clue where bleeding is from. Definitely from vagina not anus or urethra. I'm worried that it could be placenta which is under my ribs. Assessment said cervix is closed but does that mean like fully shut and blocked? Fed up of the bleeding and worry now.

Pippagled · 25/03/2023 22:24

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I had some pink/red discharge around 20/1 weeks, which really scared me. Doctor examined me said cervix was closed, but found evidence of thrush and a swab confirmed it. When I continued to get the bloody discharge, I rang triage and the first thing the midwife asked (not knowing my personal history) was if I had thrush. Apparently sometimes thrush can cause some light bleeding, usually pinkish, because it irritates the vaginal wall. I've since had thrush again (a common thing in pregnancy), so it might be worth getting a swab done.

@Poppy9876 totally sympathise. I've recently just come out of covid and it worried me too, but all seems fine (had private scan today). I'd advise you to ring triage - they were very helpful, asked lots of questions and deemed I was low risk. They sent an oximeter to me too, which could measure the oxygen levels in my blood which was very reassuring. She basically said I was one of countless calls that day about covid and nearly every pregnant woman gets it these days!

Belami · 26/03/2023 10:06

@PurBal , @Zaalfruit , @Junebaby30 @Funfamilytimes the one in boots was only £30 with an advantage card.

Would love to hear about other people's Tens experiences too.

I had a bit of a panic attack about childbirth last night, was watching something triggering on tv and I just suddenly got really upset and frightened😓

Funfamilytimes · 26/03/2023 12:33

@Belami i feel exactly the same! So so nervous for it.
I’m trying to plan and have loads of positives there. So have all my hospitals clothes ready and have spoken through with my partner exactly what I’d like to happen so he can advocate for me. But still very nervous indeed 😬

Dewintergarden · 26/03/2023 14:20

Hello, would any of the below flag up as a concern to you:
Bright yellow urine, darker at night. I take a lot of vitamins as well.
Drinking a lot like a minimum of 2litres of water, 3 cups of milk a day.
Chapped lips.
Weeing a lot.
Bump has grown a lot in the last 7days.
Cramps in legs at night and feet hot but only at night.

I'm not sure if this is typical of pregnancy or not?

Fredthespider · 26/03/2023 15:29

@Dewintergarden the bright yellow urine could be excess B vitamins, but with the increased thirst and peeing along with bump growth they could suggest gestational diabetes. Probably worth touching base with your midwife just to be safe ☺️

professionalnomad · 26/03/2023 16:03

Hello everyone
Due 20th June. Second pregnancy - hyperemesis again. Managed to push through and now counting down the weeks until I can start mat leave.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 26/03/2023 18:39

So for those making up their hospital bag lists I add the following for mum's to be bag:

Towel
Hair turban
Bag for transporting wet dirty clothing from shower room to your bed area (even just a carrier bag)
All medication you take
Glasses if you need for reading
Ear plugs or headphones

In hospital now for monitoring overnight. Just showered and dried myself on paper towels and transported my dirty clothing by hand to my bed which was a faff 😅Forgot all my medication. Glasses at home so squinting to read anything. Lass in next bed keeps burping loudly so headphones would have been nice. On the plus side I smuggled in some twirls and a bag of skips in case I'm hungry.

firsttimelondonmummy · 26/03/2023 19:09

@Dewintergarden not at all.
Midwife laughs at my nuclear colour urine, I pee 1,726,254 times a day and I have to apply burts lip balm like it’s going out of fashion in an attempt to save my lips lol

There’s been a few messages on here about dull /reduced movements, so I just wanted to share my experience from today in case it helps any of you decide what to do if it happens to you again! Unsolicited, but it might help 🤣

Last night baby’s movements felt dull/muted/less intense, but I could still feel him and I was counting kicks so I felt confident everything was fine. This morning the movements felt even more muted to the point where I barely felt them, but again was counting them and there was multiple kicks. It got to lunchtime and they’d slowed down and I rang triage and explained I could feel baby, but that the movements were less intense and they told me to come in. I instantly burst into tears and felt so guilty that I didn’t ring them last night because I didn’t want to waste their time.

I had to give a urine sample and they listened to the heartbeat on the Doppler and took my blood pressure. I then had to wait for a bed so that they could start continuous monitoring where they were measuring babies heartbeat and any uterine movements. Midwife explained it could hit the requirements within 10 minutes, but if it didn’t hit them after an hour the machine would time out and I’d be referred to the doctor. I was on monitoring for 40 minutes before she explained she was happy, there was a bit of a heartbeat dip for a moment but it evened out.

I got quite a lot of paperwork stuck into my green notes, and they attached a copy of the monitoring report so that they can compare it if I need to come in again. Midwife was so reassuring and said that I did the right thing by coming in, and never to hesitate (Ideally I would have gone in the night before).

Only you know what’s normal for your baby, so if you’re ever unsure and feel like movements are muted, have slowed down, stopped or have significantly increased, please ring triage and listen to their advice! ❤️

Dewintergarden · 26/03/2023 20:50

Thank you for the advice ladies @firsttimelondonmummy and @Fredthespider I actually called triage and they had my urine sample from two weeks ago which showed all was fine sugar and protein wise, although she said to get them to check again this week at my 28 week check up. My anxiety has been through the roof again this week.

Givealittlebit · 26/03/2023 22:05

Hello 👋 wondering if I can join! Due 14th June with my third baby.

Also saw some people asking about TENS machines, I used one in my second labour (borrowed from a friend) and will 100% use again this time! Was such a life saver, really helped me manage at home which I'd put down to hypnobirthing too

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 27/03/2023 17:21

I just heard a woman give birth. On labour ward at the moment and could hear her grunting and pushing down the hall then suddenly cry of the baby. Didn't realise how emotional it would make me 🤗

DrinkingAllTheGin · 27/03/2023 18:01

Only a few more months until its some of us delivering! Getting real now.
How had your monitoring gone @BellaTheDarkOverlord ?
