Oh girls names are so much easier, so much choice and so many nice options. Boys tend to be either dull or weird (to me!) 😭 it’s like the clothes, the window dressing for girls is much nicer! I can’t wait to see my little boy in his dungarees however 😂 8 weeks to go on Friday!

Cuppasoupmonster · 24/01/2023 22:13

Awww thanks Perexi! MIL doesn’t like it she said, but 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not everyone will, will they!

You really can't please everyone so I wouldn't worry about it and she'll get used to it!

iratepirate · 24/01/2023 23:10

ChristmasJumpers · 24/01/2023 21:21

@iratepirate oh no, what did they say? So far ours have continued to say "baby" or "they" despite me and DH saying she to them!

@katdemar ours is Emby (our very original shortening of embryo) which it's hard to get out of the habit of saying. I wish we could legitimately name her Emby, it just is her name!

Doctor was going through some results and said “she’s looking fine in there” and then kind of went “oh..I mean she OR he” and made a weird face at me and asked whether we’d found out the gender yet. 🫤

Cats23 · 25/01/2023 00:08

@havanamama , Baby #5 here, 1st was Csect and last 3 were natural, I can 100% confirm, Ive been scared with all! Theyve all been so different- #2 was 3.5hrs start to finish, #3 was 1hr #4 ....10hrs. But I agree with Pp, my last for example, though 10hrs long, felt 4hrs max, Its like an outer body experience- I had gas and air with all- Spaced me right out , I felt in control but not aware, overall all mine were easu and I think the 'scary bit' is mainly not knowing when it will happen!
We've had our names picked before conception! Our boys name was going to be ' Finn' , our last 2x children have Norse inspired names - Rafe ( Pronounced Like ' SAFE' but R at the start)
and Thea ( pronounced Thee-uh) This baby...well Will announce after birth!
Our older 2x Dc picked a name each for the younger 2 as middle names and The younger 2 get a name each this time- They have chose Pheobe Isla or Isla Rose.

Choc2022 · 25/01/2023 01:26

Oooh lovely names!! I've had my name picked for the last 15 odd years lol. Im going on maternity 5 days beflre due date just to maximise the time off. Im working from home so I'm hoping by then I'll be all prepped and just passing the time.

Question for non ftm - when on gas and air and given birth were you too 'spaced out' to remember and feel the emotions (of seeing and holding baby for first time etc).

ChristmasJumpers · 25/01/2023 07:56

Room4onemore · 24/01/2023 21:46

We have babies first name but struggling for a middle name, I ordered her a personalised blanket so that’s her name lol

We've done the same, ordered some personalised prints for the nursery to set it in stone. I hope she suits it!

Some gorgeous names chosen 😍 why is it so much easier to like a name when someone else has chosen it?! I suddenly went off everything when it came to naming our baby

TeddyBeans · 25/01/2023 08:02

@Cuppasoupmonster Leo is lovely 🥰 DS knows a couple of Leo's and they've all been delightful!

@iratepirate oh no! 🙈

@Choc2022 I was so spaced out after two days of no sleep that I practically passed out as soon as DS came out 😞 I slept through the placenta delivery and being stitched up. Was not ideal at all

Moonlighting · 25/01/2023 08:11

Hi everyone just checking in after ages and ages, can’t believe how close some of us are getting now! At 30+6 I still feel ages away 😂

Everyone’s names are so cute. We’ve narrowed down to 2. My DH is hellbent on a name that his 5yo cousin already has and thinks that by changing 1 letter in it can make it a completely different name lol. I think the fact that multiple people have told him this is not the case has made him double down even harder! I am just letting him roll with it for now and we can finalise the other name once baby is here haha.

I had gas and air for a couple of hours before my first and a couple of puffs before my second! Don’t think it affects you feeling spaced out as it wears off pretty quickly!!

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 25/01/2023 10:06

Love all the names! We are struggling with names for Boy #3 but the older 2 have started calling him Thomas/Tom so that probably needs to be a contender! This is the first time we have know gender but doesnt seem to make the naming any easier!!

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 25/01/2023 10:13

We don't know the gender but are absolutely convinced its a girl. We've agreed on Annabelle for a girl (I love Belle as a nickname), and have talked about Henry for a boy but i'm just not sure on it! I agree that girls names seem to be easier than boys, so interested to see what everyone else has chosen for boys

iratepirate · 25/01/2023 11:19

@Choc2022 definitely didn’t find myself too spaced out on the gas and air

To be honest it’s a spacey experience whatever you do - I didn’t have G&A, but the pain/intensity/drama of the whole thing is very distracting and the best thing I can liken it to is a drunken night out. I can remember roughly what happened but it’s all a blur and I don’t remember specific feelings - I don’t think the nice squishy feelings arrived for about 48 hours after!

havanamama · 25/01/2023 13:22

I recently watched Sarah Beeston's second baby's birth on YouTube and it was the calmest thing ever!!

Not to have super high expectations, but it's good to see that birth can be a calm and not hectic experience too

TeddyBeans · 25/01/2023 13:33

Little lady has been very quiet today compared to usual. I've felt her but it's not her usual vivacity... Gonna give her an hour and then call triage 😬

I hope she gives you a wriggle soon @TeddyBeans have you don't the usual cold drink and lie on your left etc?

Babynum2 · 25/01/2023 13:45

Gas and air is a short term fix so it only lasts a few seconds but the more you do the longer it will last. I couldn't get on with it it made me feel really sick but I used it to bite down on when pushing!

TeddyBeans · 25/01/2023 13:47

@ChristmasJumpers she usually has a massive wriggle after I have lunch but it just hasn't happened today 😞 I've had cold drinks but it hasn't helped. Shall try lying on my left and see if that does it 🤞

Choc2022 · 25/01/2023 13:56

@TeddyBeans phone triage it'll reassure you if nothing else.

Im looking to buy a cot, I remember when my brother was born mum had a drop side one and am looking for dropside also (I know they are banned in USA and Europe) but they are so few and far between. Im only 5 foot 1 and think dropside will be easier lifting the baby etc. But I also have my heart set on another (purely down to aesthetics really) so

  1. Should I try to get drop side cot - I am 5 foot 1?
  1. Should I get a cot with a drawer underneath?
  1. Universal cot top changers should fit most cots of the same size right?

Tia as per usual (you guys are so so so helpful) xx

beatingheartbaby · 25/01/2023 14:12

The movement stuff drives me crazy, my girls always been reasonably quiet, but last time I was in for reduced movement they gave me a scan and she was spinning around like crazy in there I just couldn't feel it 😩

Babynum2 · 25/01/2023 14:56

@Choc2022 I had a drop side space saver cot last time and I'm 5ft2 it was perfect! Also when baby is smaller and not sitting up you can have them at a higher level so you don't have to bend down. I then lowered it once he started to sit up!

I don't even know the difference now between BH or just the baby pushing out due to no room left to move I keep having this mildly painful bursts and my stomach is so hard.

TeddyBeans · 25/01/2023 15:02

Finally got through, going in for monitoring at around 5. Got to drop DS at my parents beforehand so might not have much chance to stop and feel her before I go 😬

Being sent for another growth scan as bump is still measuring small! Hope little one is OK.

@TeddyBeans hope all goes well with your appointment. These babies like keeping us on our toes and they haven't even been born yet! Xx

Cuppasoupmonster · 25/01/2023 15:50

Hope all is well Teddy, I’m sure it is xx

Pretty sure baby is now head down most of the time as I’ve got some feet above my belly button. So that’s good! Also started eating dates today - I’ve read 6 weeks in advance is the best time to start, so I figured 7 can’t hurt. Starting with 3 and will up to the recommended 6 in a couple of weeks. Also picked up my ‘final push’ tea from Holland and Barrett but will put that off now, i don’t want the two together to send me into early labour!
