@havanamama I don't think it's less scary as such, just you have more of an idea of what to expect. I haven't had to go for monitoring once through either of my pregnancies and I'm very aware of the fact that I'm the anomaly in that instance. If I had to go for monitoring I'd probably be terrified because I'd never done it before and would be playing out all kinds of worst case scenarios in my head until I got on the monitor.

I've never done a natural birth in as much as it starting naturally so I'm a little worried I'm not going to know what to do or what it's going to feel like but having been induced and giving birth (albeit drugged up to my eyeballs) naturally, I know what the end result feels like and the aftermath. Does that make sense? I hope I'm not rambling nonsense 🤣

I jinxed myself by saying I've never been in for monitoring 🤦‍♀️ DP's made it to my parents so at least I don't have to go on my own

@Choc2022 if you can get a drop side one, go for it! Same with the drawer underneath. I don't know if one exists with both features but it would be worth a look. I've never had a changing top so can't answer that one, sorry

LaForza101 · 25/01/2023 17:48

I hope all is well @TeddyBeans

Today my midwife confirmed baby's head is engaged and I've only just put 2 and 2 together that this explains the sensation of waddling around with a cannonball in my pelvis 😂

I thought this came with a let up in heartburn and breathlessness when walking/going up stairs but apparently not

TeddyBeans · 25/01/2023 20:18

All good thank you! Little lady didn't like the monitors so immediately started trying to kick them off 🤦‍♀️ my toco rating went up to 30 at one point so I think I had a BH whilst being monitored. Glad I went but hope it doesn't happen again

@LaForza101 how engaged? Little lady is 4/5ths palp so not very engaged but it sounds like you might be quite a lot more if you've got the bowling ball feeling!

Glad you're all good @TeddyBeans 😊
Little one has hiccups for the second time today, so so cute! I don't feel them that often 🥰

Hrf1503 · 25/01/2023 20:37

@ChristmasJumpers I thought that the first couple times I felt hiccups too… it really hit home for me that I’m housing a little human and thought it was so cute. But now she gets them twice a day and I find them so annoying 😂 find myself holding my breath to try and stop them hahaha

Perexi · 25/01/2023 20:42

Yay glad all ok @TeddyBeans

I had a midwife appointment today so got to hear his heartbeat again ☺️ he was not a fan of being poked to see what position hes in though!

Cuppasoupmonster · 25/01/2023 20:57

Great news Teddy! Always a relief isn’t it.

What size baby grow are you all packing in hospital bag? The newborn clothes I have for him all range from 7lb to 9lb, the latter would’ve swamped DD when she was born but she was only just over 6! He’s measuring a little bigger than her though not by much.

Cats23 · 25/01/2023 21:11

@Choc2022 - As pp have said, G and A doesnt last long once you stop , I just felt v.drunk but I was inhaling it pretty much the whole time- It didnt effect my awarness/feelings at all though when they arrived.

@Cuppasoupmonster
Im taking in 3x newborn(up to 10lb) and 3x 0-3mths (10lb +)

@TeddyBeans - glad all well.

I didnt have drop side cot tbh,the slatted section ( baby brain cant think what its called) did fully rise and lower though, I will be getting under storage drawers this time

ChristmasJumpers · 25/01/2023 21:14

@Cuppasoupmonster I think I'll wait until my last growth scan to decide we haven't bought anything in tiny baby size but gave a fair few newborn (7lbs) and first size (9lbs). I have a feeling she'll need newborn but it might be wishful thinking on my part

TeddyBeans · 25/01/2023 21:23

I've packed up to 1 month clothes as I had 0-3 month stuff for DS and it drowned him. DD is on track to be marginally smaller than he was so think up to 1 month will be okay for her. He was 8lbs 4oz and 51cm long at birth

OP posts:
havanamama · 25/01/2023 21:41

Glad all was ok @TeddyBeans , I found it so mentally draining when it happens.

I'm also only taking newborn and up to 1 month. I do find that depending on the brand, some newborn are the same size as up to one, and some newborn are a bit more like tiny baby. Go figure!

Cuppasoupmonster · 25/01/2023 21:46

Shall we do a bet on how big we think our babies will be and we can see if anyone gets it right 😆 I’m going 7lb8 for mine!

At the beginning when we told everyone we all guessed sex, weight and DOB. From that I guessed 7lbs 10oz. From her projected growth on my growth chart, she's probably going to be around 8lbs so I might not be massively far off 😁

Cats23 · 25/01/2023 21:56

Ohh its a hard 1, My last 3x full term (as dc 1 dowsnt count - v.prem) were 7lb 8, 7lb 6(boys) & 8lb 2(girl)..... I will go with 8lb 5 for this one ( girl)
Im a bit wary though as my niece was 6lb 7 & her sister was 9lb 2..., mother is tiny and full term with both ( no diabetes)..

havanamama · 25/01/2023 22:55

Our Baby is currently tracking to be around 3.5kg, but will see next week in the growth scan if that's still the trend.

I rather have a bigger baby than a smaller one, they just look so fragile anyways

Rainbowbaby23 · 25/01/2023 23:38

Do use think it looks like my bump is maybe starting to drop?😂 so excited for my scan next Thursday to see how big bubs is!!

TeddyBeans · 26/01/2023 08:07

@Rainbowbaby23 have you got a pic from a couple of weeks ago to compare with? I have a growth scan next Wednesday! They're lovely 🥰

OP posts:
Rainbowbaby23 · 26/01/2023 08:15

This was 2 weeks ago! Not sure if its dropped or maybe just bigger/different shape!😂

It's hard to tell but I don't think so. Does it feel like you're carrying a bowling ball in your crotch? 🤣 DS never dropped so I never experienced the bowling ball feeling but it apparently makes you waddle like a penguin 🐧

Oh wow 🤣 I look forward to this!

Dreamingof3 · 26/01/2023 08:58

I'm taking a couple of newborn (up to 8lbs ish) and a couple of up to 1 month (up to 10lb) my last baby was 7lb7 and up to 1 month was really big on her, especially when she lost weight too!
But my first was 10lb5 and everything was too small 😂 so we just don't know what to expect this time, although so far she's definitely looking more in the 7-8lb range, have another growth scan tomorrow so hopefully will get an idea then

allthingssparkly · 26/01/2023 09:16

Don't know if baby's moved positions but wow the cramps this morning have been very noticeable 😬😬😬

Hope your all keeping well 🤍

allthingssparkly · 26/01/2023 09:54

Any ladies on here have some good nursing bra recommendations that don't cost the earth? I've been having a look at some on the New Look website but don't know how good they are 🤔

I feel like I’ve tried so many over time. Cheaper ones I’ve tried stretch, and don't support my back enough
The Bravado body silk are the best in my opinion - I they are a bit ££ (cheapest on Amazon (£24) but last forever and wash and dry quick so you can get away with 2/3 on rotation. I’ve worn since about 20 weeks while preg and sure I’ll wear for about a year with baby so good investment!!
