@allthingssparkly How far along are you?

I’m 32W and my baby luckily has been head down since 28W. My midwife said baby is still spinning around and at 36W appointment that’s when she needs to make sure it’s head down. If not, you will be sent for a scan to confirm and they might offer you a sweep.

Perexi · 24/01/2023 14:53

TeddyBeans · 24/01/2023 13:14

@Perexi is it plantar fascitis? I had it after DS was born and there's some stretches you can do. I can't remember them now but Google might throw some up? Good shoes were also recommended!

2 days is not long! What if bubs comes early? You won't have any time to relax before they arrive 😱

Yeah apparently so! It's blooming painful but I have some stretches and apparently one of those common pregnancy symptoms that nobody talks about.

I know....when we were deciding we thought leave after would be better to make use of the time and I didn't want to "waste" paid leave but I'm now having a few second thoughts 😂

work are well aware it could be anytime in March realistically but the fact they are still figuring out how to cover my mat leave and only just starting to talk about it means it's going to be a car crash for the rest of my team I think! Although will mean they are keen for me to use my kit days!

Blocklynn · 24/01/2023 15:01

I’m breaking up a week before my due date. Know I’ll get stroppy just sitting round if I feel like I’m wasting my maternity.

I’m due 2 months today!!

Annoyed at Evri today, I ordered a load of stuff from Aldi when their baby event was on, chased it up today as hasn’t been delivered and Aldi are just writing it off as lost and have issued a refund. I want my things not a refund!

Babynum2 · 24/01/2023 16:24

I have been so bored at home on maternity in the day when the kids are at school! There's only so much cleaning/organising you can do! I don't know anybody in my area and DP has the car most days so can't really go anywhere really wished I could have worked for longer I feel like I've been on mat leave my whole pregnancy. Planning to go back when baby is 8 weeks as long as he is sleeping/feeding well.

havanamama · 24/01/2023 17:04

I'm the opposite 😄
I've got 1 week between start of Mat leave and due date, but my to do list is massive!

There's so much that I want to do personally and with my husband and at the house before we become a fam of 3

Katdemar · 24/01/2023 17:18

I've planned my maternity leave to start 2 weeks before due date, as I know that I'm not going to be allowed to go past 39 weeks. So that makes it one week before.

I had a ridiculous amount of leave left to take up to my leave end year of May. My organisation policy should be that all leave should be taken before the commencement of Mat Leave. Managed to make a business case that they needed me, so I'm only have to take 8 days leave and carrying over the 15 to the end of my Mat Leave.

I'm finishing the end of this week. If you'd asked me last week I was thinking that I'd started it too early and felt a bit of a fraud. This week (34) I'm really starting to feel achy and big. So overall happy with my decision in the end!

Had a midwife appointment today who said that baby's head is engaged which is why I'm feeling so achy.

allthingssparkly · 24/01/2023 17:21

Hi @Rose429 I'm 34w1d.

At my 28 week growth scan baby was head down, so between then and my 33 week scan last week the monkey has flipped! I've another growth scan at 36 weeks to check positioning and growth again so fingers crossed by that point he's head down 🤞

AK93 · 24/01/2023 17:35

I planned to work until beginning of Feb (annual leave to start with in Feb then mat leave straight after beginning of March) but taken a day and a half off this week because it’s been too stressful and I’m too emotional to cope at work right now especially with comments that make me feel useless by a colleague. It’s not an easy job it’s physically and mentally exhausting looking after children (it is rewarding but when they’re happy and when you can help them feel happier/more comfortable not when there’s inconsolable crying for two hours by two children at the same time - keep setting each other off!) and I need some calm before my own comes along! Think the move to a room with younger children and new ones starting as I’m progressing further in pregnancy wasn’t their best idea.

I only got 1 day of work this week now unless I go in on my day off or annual leave day then 4 days of work next week and I’m done! I’ll be able to focus on myself and baby a lot more and hopefully get more sorted in the house so we’re less disorganised! Just hope my mood perks up a bit in between!!

muminlndn · 24/01/2023 18:19

@allthingssparkly I'm 32 weeks and baby is still breech, has been at every scan up to 30 weeks and pretty sure she still feels the same now. I'm getting a lot of BH but don't know if they do anything to promote turning. I'm going to try not to worry until my next scan at 34/35 weeks and then do some of the spinning babies positions.
Definitely not keen on a breech birth or c-section so I'm not sure what I'd opt for if still breech at full term! Maybe the manual turning they try but I'd have to really trust the obstetrician doing it

Shep21 · 24/01/2023 18:23

Feeling reassured how many people are pushing it so close to their due date before starting mat leave.

I’m 32 weeks and work is becoming harder each day (it’s a really physical job and pretty much on my feet for a straight 9 hours). So hoping I’ve timed it well by finishing just before I turn 36 weeks🤞🏻

ChristmasJumpers · 24/01/2023 19:06

I'm in awe of those of you doing physical jobs still, I just couldn't!!

Has everyone picked baby's name? We finally have but I've had to compromise and still having second thoughts. It really is the only name out of a big list that we could at least agree on though. DH loves it and I really like the meaning, just need to gey used to saying it out loud.

iratepirate · 24/01/2023 19:08

I’ve had a boy name picked since last time but am really struggling with a girl name.

We’re meant to be having a surprise but I’m pretty sure that the triage doctor spoiled it for us by accident last week. 🙈

havanamama · 24/01/2023 19:09

We have had a name since 5 months and have been calling her that rather than baby and it's so lovely, already feels like a member of our family. 🥰
I keep wondering how she will look as we have quite different features

Katdemar · 24/01/2023 19:37

We've got a very good idea of first name, still working on middle names.

We've had several miscarriages so I think that made us reluctant to use a name- just in case. It's not entirely rational.

However he has a nickname: 'Chonk' (which he's living up to - 32 week growth scan put his weight at 2.4kg/5lb 6) which we use instead of 'baby'. I find it sweet between my husband and I!

iratepirate · 24/01/2023 19:54

@Katdemar in the same boat and although I’ve had a name in mind each time, we’ve never actually named the baby iyswim. I do understand.

Blocklynn · 24/01/2023 20:29

We have a couple of boy and a couple of girl names we like, will see which we think suits best when baby is here.

Our nickname for baby is Nugget (or Nutmeg as my Gran keeps saying) 🥰

TeddyBeans · 24/01/2023 20:47

@Blocklynn aaah DS was nugget 😭😭❤️❤️❤️

OP posts:
ChristmasJumpers · 24/01/2023 21:21

@iratepirate oh no, what did they say? So far ours have continued to say "baby" or "they" despite me and DH saying she to them!

@katdemar ours is Emby (our very original shortening of embryo) which it's hard to get out of the habit of saying. I wish we could legitimately name her Emby, it just is her name!

Dreamingof3 · 24/01/2023 21:41

I don't know how anyone commits to a name before the baby is born...I'm way too indecisive 🤣 we were almost certain on our girls name last time and then when she was born I decided it didn't suit her and she ended up with a name that wasn't even on the list!

@ChristmasJumpers what about Ember?

Room4onemore · 24/01/2023 21:46

We have babies first name but struggling for a middle name, I ordered her a personalised blanket so that’s her name lol

TeddyBeans · 24/01/2023 21:50

DD's name has been settled since September. All the grandparents like it, DS can say it (he struggled with L's for a long while) and we love it. I wouldn't change it now because DS has been calling his little sister Izzy for so long that it wouldn't be fair on him

OP posts:
Cuppasoupmonster · 24/01/2023 21:53

Izzy that’s gorgeous ✨ 💖

Our front runner is Leo 💙 🦁 It’s the only name that actually ‘excites’ me rather than just thinking ‘oh that’s nice and okay’, plus for some reason it just feels right!

Cuppasoupmonster · 24/01/2023 21:53

When I believed it was a girl for 5 weeks she was going to be Darcey or Poppy…

Perexi · 24/01/2023 22:04

We struggled to find boy name's we both loved there were only a few we could agree on, girl's we had heaps 😂😂 we're set on him being Archie John now and have been for a few months (John is a family name for us on both sides and luckily it works well!)

Perexi · 24/01/2023 22:12

Izzy and Leo are lovely name's 😍

Our nephew is called Leo, so I love the name
