@LS888 @UsernameNotPresent so glad the scan went well, you will be breathing a sigh of relief now 😅

AnnieApple123 · 18/01/2023 14:54

Great news @UsernameNotPresent !

My scan was going to be tomorrow at 12+3 but I’ve now moved it to Monday at 13 weeks. Partly because of ‘scanxiety.’ Partly because, if I were to get a high risk NIPT result and need an amnio (which would be my preference over CVS), they don’t like to do amnio before 16 weeks so there’d be less of a wait. Slightly pessimistic thinking I know but it makes sense.

I’ll be 10 weeks on Monday having a scan, and hopefully having my NIPT. Sending you good vibes and I’ll be thinking of you

also, totally understand the anxiety and you trying to find practical ways of managing it.

sally16 · 18/01/2023 15:11

Think my midwife has forgotten my booking app is today... waiting on her phoning outside FIL house.. I hope she hasn't gone to my house when she said it was over the phone.. it's an absolute tip 🫠

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 15:12

@LS888 @UsernameNotPresent absolutely amazing news with the scans!! Great day!

Firsttimemomma1 · 18/01/2023 15:13

@AnnieApple123 whatever helps the anxiety - I’m here for it! Good luck for the upcoming scan incase I forget to say it. Can’t wait to hear what I’m sure will be the most amazing news.

Did you do your NIPT privately?

BusyBushBaby · 18/01/2023 15:17

Argh, I've just had 2 letters from the hospital cancelling and rescheduling my 2 upcoming appointments... the problem is the 12 week scan has been pushed back to 31st January when I will be 13+3 by LMP but as my last scan I was measuring 5 days ahead I will likely be measuring 14+1 by then. If I'm over 14 weeks they can't do the nuchal screening.

AnnieApple123 · 18/01/2023 15:23

Thanks @BananaBread3 All the best to you too. Will yours be in the morning or the afternoon?

@sally16 How frustrating! Hope she calls soon.

@Firsttimemomma1 Yes, I’m doing NIPT privately. The place I’m going to includes amnio for free if you’re one of the unlucky few who gets a high risk result.

@AnnieApple123 oh no you’ve deserted me as my scan buddy🙉

AnnieApple123 · 18/01/2023 15:27

@BusyBushBaby That’s so frustrating. I had that last time. My scan was at 13+2 and I was measuring a whole 10 days ahead, so the window for getting a NT measurement had passed. I wonder if they’d be understanding if you contacted them and explained?

I am maybe mad to have rearranged mine until 13 weeks in case this happens again. I did ask the receptionist though and she said it was unusual not to be able to get a NT measurement.

OP posts:
AnnieApple123 · 18/01/2023 15:31

@ChloeN I was just thinking that earlier and feeling bad. Sorry! ❤️ I tried to rearrange for Saturday but they have no availability.

I’m actually umming and ahhing a bit about switching back to tomorrow if they can still do it, as ideally I don’t want to miss out on the NT measurement. However, as I’m doing NIPT, perhaps it could just cause unnecessary worry if the NT came out high. Aarrgh, I just don’t know!

@AnnieApple123 ah that’s okay I’ll survive 🤣 it’s only a couple of days later so still feels like we’re in it together 🙉💗

buttercupbee · 18/01/2023 15:39

Congratulations to all those who have had scans, such lovely news 🥰 I’m on the countdown to mine a week on Friday now!

@LBF2020 your dog is so cute! I always wanted a golden retriever but we decided they were a little big for our house (and too big to go to work with my husband) so we got a golden working cocker instead. Basically a mini version 😍 In terms of skincare I use Elemis pro cleansing balm and Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base. From what I’ve read online both seem to be safe in pregnancy and leave my skin feeling very soft!

PumpkinEverything · 18/01/2023 15:41

For those not on the fb group, another successful scan here 😊 they’ve kept my due date of the 3rd august but my measurements had it ranging from 29th July - 1st August as I’m measuring a bit ahead!

Never mind she phoned 😅 40 mins 🫠 but I've to have a 12, 16 and 20 weeks consultant appointment to decide where I have baby.. due to my feelings of having them where I should..

So that's made me feel better.. also same consultant all through opposed to chopping and changing! 🥳

Remember this is your pregnancy gals! You make the rules! You want something in place that's there job to make it happen! Don't feel left in the dark 💙

LBF2020 · 18/01/2023 16:02

Thanks for the skincare tips everyone. I found this article really reassuring on the green people website www.greenpeople.co.uk/blogs/ask-charlotte/are-green-people-products-with-essential-oils-safe-to-use-during-pregnancy?gl=1dyswp0up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAiAzp6eBhByEiwAgGq5K95ATNqBEEQEVpobvDawVNbp4FJTqUpCUcoHdhgxlqket6qrDzPBoCcvcQAvD_BwE

Sorry for long link

@buttercupbee aw thanks, he is a big jerk. Just yesterday he managed to get a small handful of grapes and had to go to the emergency vet 🙄 my fault though! He comes to the office with me and our other dog. It's chaotic! I'd love a cocker 🥰

LBF2020 · 18/01/2023 16:03

@sally16 that's great, well done for sticking up for yourself.

Recoba · 18/01/2023 16:39

Had my booking appointment yesterday, which was very straightforward except for when she tried to get blood out of me. Stabbed four times in four different places, eventually she got a vein but then nothing came out. I have to go back next week for another go. Pretty frustrating as I know I've been a bit dehydrated (find it really hard to drink lots of water when nauseous), but tried extra hard to drink lots of water in the 24 hours prior to the blood test. She also mentioned that I have mild ketosis so to try to eat more (so I'm starving and dehydrating myself!). If anyone has any tips for improving blood supply, let me know - I have until Tuesday to stop being a zombie.

On the bright side, I bought some cheap anti nausea wrist bands on Amazon and they actually work! Could not believe it. Instant relief from the nausea as soon as I put them on. Hoping that's going to improve my eating and drinking, even though I'm still throwing up. I find they don't take away the sickness, but do take away the mind numbing/distracting constant feeling of nausea, so would recommend if anyone else has that.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 18/01/2023 16:42

@LBF2020 what a gorgeous dog.

We have two cockapoos and a dachshund, yet it is the little dachshund that causes all the drama. The attitude on him is something else.

Narwhal88 · 18/01/2023 17:04

Congrats on all the scans everyone!

I have a cockapoo. She's mental and jumps everywhere so I've been making sure she avoids my stomach!

LS888 · 18/01/2023 17:05

@Recoba that happened to me too. I was dehydrated due to having a cold and feeling unwell plus nausea- was definitely not drinking enough. I had my bloods done at my GPs in the end. The nurse said they do bloods all the time and was very quick and reassuring. I’m not good with needles and don’t look! But she did it with a needle straight into my arm and was so much quicker that what they were trying to do at the hospital. The nurse at the GP said to go back there for bloods when needed again as they do it every day. Thought midwives would too? I did drink plenty on the morning and took a bottle with me. Veins weren’t popping up but she did the thing around my arm a lot tighter than the midwife did so eventually she could see one. She said to keep a note of the vein so next time they could use the same one!

AnnieApple123 · 18/01/2023 17:37

@Recoba I had mild ketosis at my first appointment too. I managed to improve it for the second though thankfully.

Keeping hydrated can help with blood supply but clearly you’re already trying this. Warming your arm in water or on a radiator right before can help. Also clenching your fists and swinging your arms for a minute or so.

OP posts:
LS888 · 18/01/2023 17:47

@Recoba I also walked to my GP appointment to get my blood moving a bit as exercise is said to help too! Might not be an option but a stroll around the car park at the hospital might be good!

BusyBushBaby · 18/01/2023 17:50

Managed to get my scan brought forward to 12+2 by LMP but apparently I might not be able to have the combined screening test anyway because of the vanishing twin. Oh and I also have to go to another hospital a 45 min drive away instead of having the scan at my local hospital which is 5 min dien the road. So frustrating!

AnnieApple123 · 18/01/2023 18:04

So frustrating all round @BusyBushBaby . I didn’t know a vanishing twin could affect the combined test as well as NIPT.
