🤣🤣 we’re flying through them

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 21:23

@DesertSnow I was just about to say on the old thread that the first blood test was of your blood type, whereas the second blood test will be of the baby’s blood type. Amazingly by 10-11+ weeks, it’s possible to detect fragments of the baby’s DNA in your blood which can give this info. This is a new technique which wasn’t available even a few years ago and has only recently started to be rolled-out on the NHS. If the baby is Rh negative like you, you won’t need any further treatment. Whereas until recently all pregnant who were Rh negative were given treatment as a precaution.

@ChloeN OK, I’m going to call tomorrow and see if I can book the scan for Thursday….

ChloeN · 11/01/2023 22:05

@AnnieApple123 fingers crossed☺️ are you using the same place as you have before? Xx

AnnieApple123 · 11/01/2023 22:21

@ChloeN Yes and I procrastinated on both the scans I had last time too. My 20 week scan was at 22+ something.

Thred freaking 5!! We’re going to be on thread 500 by the time our babies arrive 😬

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 11/01/2023 22:29

Thread 5 😮

First day without any spotting today for 9 days so feel like I'm winning haha!

DH has this horrid flu, trying to keep my distance as much as possible so I don't catch it. I hope you feel better those who have it.

Got my coursework submitted in the Nick of time today, just my exams to go tomorrow and Friday then it is one week until we move house! Ahh!
Has anybody got any tips for not feeling utterly useless during times like these? I know I should not be lifting as heavy as I would normally etc so I know I am going to find it quite difficult to let hubby take the complete reins 😂

DesertSnow · 11/01/2023 22:32

@AnnieApple123 ah thanks, that's really useful info! So the fact that I'm a bit further along really does make a difference. Incredible.

Also thread 5 😂Anyone want to guess what number we'll be on by August?

CityKity · 11/01/2023 22:42

I’m guessing 20 threads by August!

@DesertSnow following on from the last thread, I’ve got hugely mixed feelings about the 12 week scan (I’m 2 weeks away now). On one hand excited for hopefully everything to be okay and for it all to be real. On the other hand I have this horrible feeling that I’ll go to the scan and there will be nothing there! The other fear if everything is okay is then the admin of having to share the news and the inevitable judgment/shock/advice that will inevitably come my way. Such a mixed bag of emotions!

DesertSnow · 11/01/2023 22:48

@CityKity Yes, that's exactly it. I had a scan at 8 weeks and things were ok then, but I can't help fearing the worst.

BCxx · 11/01/2023 22:56

@CityKity hopefully it’s all okay 🤞🏼 I’m dreading the whole announcing it thing this time purely for all the faff that comes with it. I can’t even be bothered telling the in-laws as they used to text such a forced text of ‘how are you feeling?’ just on repeat and I was usually completely fine and it was just awkward to reply ‘fine’ every time but even if I wasn’t I wasn’t going to say because MIL is such a gossip and I really wished they’d stop asking 🙈 They probably thought that was nice but it was so annoying and every time I saw the text I thought aw here we go again 😂 Can’t be bothered with the ‘oh I hope it’s a girl’ since I have a boy so I want to wait til I’ve found out the sex first. People touching my bump or giving a running commentary on how big or small I look 🙄😩 Just can’t be bothered with any of it this time!

sally16 · 11/01/2023 23:02

How are we powering through these threads!! 😂

CityKity · 11/01/2023 23:02

@BCxx I haven’t even been through it once and I’m dreading it! MIL and my own mother will be checking in ALL the time and expect me to visit them endlessly (never the other way round of course). I can’t stand anyone touching me and the thought of people commenting on my size makes me want to scream. I hate faff, hate being centre of attention, and even the idea that we have to tell nearest and dearest in person (according to DH who is very excited) instead of sending a message makes me exhausted at the social-ness of it all. I just want to be left in peace (and get the promotion I’m after 😅)

PumpkinEverything · 11/01/2023 23:27

@CityKity i feel the same way, and hate attention. Thankfully my mum will leave me alone (in a good way) and just ask me if I’m okay every now and again. My sisters will be excited but otherwise not change at all (last time you’d have thought I wasn’t pregnant as they’d have me carrying and moving chairs etc 😂). My in laws on the other hand will be too much for me and comment on my appearance and size etc as they did before and it makes me uncomfortable. And just contact me more than I’d like and buy things we don’t need (I’m hoping they don’t this time as we have so much we need already). It really puts me off telling anyone 🙈

Mulner88 · 11/01/2023 23:35

I've been finding it quite awkward telling people also. Don't know why 😂 I also hate the attention of it all 🙈

PumpkinEverything · 11/01/2023 23:38

@Mulner88 the more time passes the more awkward I feel 🙈 I had considered telling family on Christmas and didn’t, and now I feel like I don’t know how to 😂 and I feel like I’ve just been lying to them this whole time!

sally16 · 12/01/2023 03:31

@Mulner88 I think without my scan pics I feel like it's really awkward telling people 🤣 can't wait for Sunday so I can be like look! 10 weeks! Sorry I was grumpy haha

Amme18 · 12/01/2023 06:30

Thread 5! 😅 We’ve told most friends and family now, I’ve got to tell work colleagues which i
find awkward, and a few friends still but reckon I’ll just send a scan pic with a message 🤣 There’s something to be said for social media announcements to get it out the way and let the gossip spread…but also don’t like the fuss haha

BusyBushBaby · 12/01/2023 07:10

Checking into the new thread!

Nausea and vomiting had been improving since about 9w but yesterday at 10+4 I was miserably sick again.

BoodifulGoose · 12/01/2023 07:50

Also place marking on new thread. Haven't been sick for past 3 mornings, giving me anxiety that it will happen again, but feeling so relieved.

sally16 · 12/01/2023 07:51

Does anyone have advice on how to tell my friend.. she had 2 failed ivf and hasn't managed to fall on her own either :(
I'm actually a bit scared to tell her, I know I shouldn't put others before my happiness but I care about her feelings so much I'm scared to make her feel anything negative :(

BoodifulGoose · 12/01/2023 07:55

@sally16 Not been in the situation myself, but would think maybe telling her over text at a time you know she's likely to be home (and her partner is also for support Like 7pm if they work 9-5?) would probably be best as it let's her get a chance to have whatever reaction without worry of upsetting you, then she can respond when she feels up to it and you'll get a feel for how to handle it going forward?

I'm sorry, that sounds so tough :/ x

sally16 · 12/01/2023 08:03

@BoodifulGoose they are having some problems because of the failed ivf.. he isn't really understanding why and I think he's being arsey to her so I'm scared to tell her at work Incase it stresses her day, and I'm scared to tell her after work Incase it strains home life :(
I'm meant to be seeing her Friday.. I might just do it on our dog walk.. then she has time to kinda process if it's a hard one.. or we have time to chat happy..
but I'm actually so nervous! She's the only one I'm scared to tell :(

nadsc · 12/01/2023 08:06

Place marking too on the new thread.

9+2 today and 12 week scan is 3 weeks tomorrow - feels like a lifetime away.

LMM91x · 12/01/2023 08:09

Morningggggg place marking !! My prediction is thread 35 by August🤣
