Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

@kl1999 I can relate to the metallic taste!! And my nausea has also massively improved! So at least I’m feeling better in that way, I just wish I could stay awake all day 😅

Littleheart5 · 03/04/2023 06:56

@Houseelf90 I’m really hoping my nausea ends soon, still sick every day from midday until
bedtime, I’m so sick of it! My tiredness a lot better though thankfully. I feel like I’m waiting for magic week 16 hoping everything gets better

HopefulBee · 03/04/2023 09:02

@Houseelf90 and @kl1999 I am also feeling fine overall but the fatigue is still intense. With my daughter it got better around 16 weeks and was really good around 18 weeks. Am crossing my fingers it will be similar this time. I’m 16 weeks tomorrow and so far no sign of feeling less tired. Hope you both get your energy back soon, too!

This is such a weird stage of pregnancy. I’m not really feeling many flutters, maybe very rarely, and as I’m not nauseous anymore it sometimes feels like I’m not pregnant. It’s making me a bit nervous but luckily I have a heartbeat appointment on Wednesday. Hopefully all is well then.

HopefulBee · 03/04/2023 09:03

@Littleheart5 I hope the nausea gets better for you soon. How far along are you now? For me it’s usually better by 13 weeks and gone around 14 weeks so hang in there!

log51 · 03/04/2023 11:20

Hi @Houseelf90 I'm 15 + 2 and I tend to start the days with more energy and have even managed some exercise in the past week, but then very much usually crash in the evenings still and still going to bed earlier than I did pre pregnancy!

My nausea's been gone a good few weeks but like @kl1999 I still have the weird taste in mouth which I find means I can't really drink water and just want squash!

Littleheart5 · 03/04/2023 11:31

@HopefulBee I’m 14+5 so have everything crossed for the next few weeks!! Im also finding it a weird stage of pregnancy as I don’t look pregnant- just as though I’ve put weight on my stomach, which is making it hard to dress! Have just ordered some maternity jeans so maybe that will make it more obvious it’s a mini bump! Anyone else showing yet?

Houseelf90 · 03/04/2023 11:44

Sounds like we’re all feeling pretty similar with nausea improving but still feeling the fatigue! I hope your nausea improves soon @Littleheart5

@Littleheart5 I have been wearing mat jeans for the last few weeks as my normal jeans were getting uncomfortable with the weight I’ve gained! Sometimes it looks like I’ve got a bit of a bump but generally I just look like I’ve gained fat around my belly! Looking forward to it looking a bit more “bump” like soon!! I’ve got a hen party (just afternoon tea) in a few weeks so I’m hoping I look pregnant and not just fat by then!

HopefulBee · 03/04/2023 19:10

@Littleheart5 and @Houseelf90 I am still wearing my normal jeans but with the tighter ones I use a hair band around the button to help a bit. Have def put on a bit around the belly region but it also still just looks like I’m getting a bit podgy. Looking forward to the cute bump!

Bizzybee900 · 03/04/2023 22:10

Gosh can really relate to the exhaustion your all experiencing. I'm 14+2 and literally can't get through the day without a nap!
Glad to hear your tiredness has improved in the past at 16 weeks @HopefulBee that gives me hope!

CaliGirl47 · 04/04/2023 08:41

Hello ladies ☀️ I hope you all have a good day. I’m so glad to hear that you all are doing okay and your nausea seems to be easing off. Last week I had some really good days where I felt like I was getting my energy back and the nausea was easing off. And then I was sick as a dog on Sunday. 🤢 Idk if it was food poisoning or a stomach bug, but man it was horrid. Couldn’t even keep water or ice lollies down. So (sorry for TMI 🙈 but has anyone else ever experienced this?) I was so violently ill that I had the experience of losing control of my bladder whilst projectile vomiting. That was an experience I won’t quickly forget. I think I must be in dire need of some pelvic floor therapy. It was quite a low point. I’ve really had no appetite since then. It’s really put me off food, but I’m trying to force myself to eat little and often. All the rest of my family has been fine, so it was likely either food poisoning or just a pregnancy perk 🤪 I am 15+3 today so I’m really hoping to get to that magical unicorn rainbow phase at 16 weeks where I feel great and everything is golden 😆🦄🌈

We’ve got a private scan booked for Monday which I’m really looking forward to. And then we will do a gender reveal a few days after that when our family flies in for a visit. I’m so excited I can’t wait to know if it’s a little he or a she. 💗💙 I feel like I’m instinctively calling baby “he” but idk if that’s intuition. Every time husband mentions baby girl’s names none of them really strike me at all. Like I’m just getting boy vibes for some reason. But I will be happy either way.

kl1999 · 04/04/2023 11:31

It sounds like we're all feeling pretty similar. I for one, have to say that the metal taste in my mouth is by far the most horrid thing I have experienced. Nothing I eat or drink seems to get rid of it. It makes me feel so blah!! 🤢

Take all the naps you need ladies ❤ I'm actually getting used to being in bed by 9pm these days😅 I like it.

Hopefully as we all reach the 16+ mark, we will all feel as amazing as everyone says you will.

I have a "bump" at the moment, but not a defined kind of obvious "bump". So the people that know, are like, "your showing". But I imagine random people just presume I'm extremely bloated and greedy with my food😂 I'm only 5ft2 though, so as they say, the baby only has one way to go and that's outwards. I mostly wear leggings, so my normal wardrobe is still fitting me comfortably... for now🙈

@CaliGirl47 Oooo, so excited for your gender scan!! 🌷☀🌈
Sorry to hear you weren't well on the weekend, I honestly think being ill when pregnant is a whole other level of being "ill". Can't wait to hear if you are team pink or team blue though - how exciting! 💕

I feel like I'm having a girl, so does my other half too. I don't know why, just the way we feel! He'd actually prefer a girl (if he had the choice lol). He's one of four boys, so he'd really like to have a little girl. Like you though @CaliGirl47 we'll be happy either way!🌈❤ We have our name for a boy and a girl sorted already. It's crazy. I think we're going to try and book an early gender scan for next week at some point, don't think we can hold out till the 5th May for my 20 week scan!

Is anyone else planning to have a gender scan anytime soon? It sounds like we're not massively far apart from each other💕

HopefulBee · 04/04/2023 12:43

My gender scan is on Friday! 🤩 So excited! But first I have a follow up appointment tomorrow to just check the heartbeat and I don’t know why but I’m really nervous that something is wrong. Anyone else still feeling anxious sometimes? Will be very glad to have a confirmation all is well hopefully.

@CaliGirl47 that sounds horrible. Hope you will get your appetite back soon! It’s never happened to me but can imagine your body was really struggling with pregnancy plus virus 😔. Lovely that you’re also soon finding out the gender! My partner thinks ours is a boy too but I don’t have a real gut feeling this time. Last time I was sore and got it right, this time I really don’t know.

Tinkerbell098 · 04/04/2023 13:17

@HopefulBee I feel anxious all the time! I think it's very normal. I wish I can enjoy the pregnancy a bit more. I am anxious that I can't feel any movements yet as my midwife was asking me if I did and I still don't. I'm 17+3 now, and think I should have felt something by now. Heard a lovely heart beat last week though, so I know all is well, but just can't help feeling this way.

How exciting most of you would be finding out the gender so soon. My NHS scan is on the 27th, so we are holding out for that. I have been on the nub theory groups and it looks like we are having a girl, but I know it's not a definite thing, but was a lot of fun at the time.

@CaliGirl47 aww that sounds awful. Sounds like you've caught a bug, but could be pregnancy too, not sure. Really hope you feel better soon X

Bizzybee900 · 04/04/2023 13:23

Gut feeling for girl! The same I had a gut feeling for boys last two pregnancies (mc).
Just felt 1000x more sick this pregnancy first trimester, and that's supposed possibly to be girl symptom... lol am aware just speculation and like you all will obvs be glad with a baby of either gender ❤️

Haven't seen any changes to size/bump/clothing yet but due after the rest of you presumably (31 Sept) so not panicking yet! Also weighed my self and put on a Kg which is very unusual for me so hoping all is well...

Astar21 · 04/04/2023 13:56

Hi ladies 😊

I had my 16w midwife appointment today and I got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which was so loud and strong! It was amazing ❤️
@HopefulBee I felt anxious before this as I've still not felt any flutters so it's such a relief.

@CaliGirl47 sounds like you were really rough. Hope you're okay now. I have to admit I've sneezed a few times and had bladder leakage 😂 so also think I need to strengthen my pelvic floor!

@kl1999 I'm also 5ft2 and showing a little bump now! Still managing to get away with people not really noticing though with leggings and baggy jumpers/tops. It'll be nice when it grows into a noticeable bump though 🥰

So excited for everyone having gender scans 💗💙
I have a private scan on Sunday but decided not to find out the gender 💛 so team yellow over here. We have both a boys and girls name already decided though! Everyone keeps guessing it's a girl, but I have no gut feeling. Although the heartbeat was 152bpm, which the old wives tale indicates girl, so who knows!

Houseelf90 · 04/04/2023 14:55

So exciting for you all finding out the gender soon! @Astar21 we are also team yellow 💛 we have a boys name sorted (had this decided before even starting TTC 🙈) and I think we are about 70% decided on a girls name, but that will change a million times before September!
Middle name for a girl will be Iris, so if anyone has any nice name suggestions to go with this way! First name needs to be fairly short/easy to spell for dyslexics in the family!

@CaliGirl47 sorry to hear you’ve not been well, it’s awful with pregnancy thrown in as well!!

Since saying my nausea has improved I seem to have jinxed myself and have had morning sickness the last 3 mornings in a row! Hoping this doesn’t carry on much longer!! It was much easier for work when I was sick in the evenings earlier in the pregnancy!

Houseelf90 · 04/04/2023 14:56

Oops that should have said send them this way for any name suggestions 🤦‍♀️

HopefulBee · 05/04/2023 06:18

Thanks for your replies @Tinkerbell098 and @Astar21 . It’s nice to know I’m not the only anxious one and that all went well for you. I know rationally that flutters often only come around 20 weeks but with my daughter I started feeling them around 16-17 weeks so I expected them earlier this time. Anyway I will find out today and hopefully it’ll give me some relief.

We won’t decide on names until after gender scan, to halve the amount of thinking we have to do 😉.

kl1999 · 05/04/2023 09:02

@HopefulBee How exciting!! Hope your appt goes well today ❤ 100% still feel anxious, part of me thinks those sorts of thoughts and feelings will never go away during this pregnancy.

@Tinkerbell098 The nub theory goes completely over my head! I've tried and tired to understand it... but no luck at all 😂

@Bizzybee900 I do wonder if our gut feelings mean anything!? Wonder if its like a mothers intuition that we just feel that we "know" the gender... We'll soon find out 🙈🌈❤

@Astar21 @Houseelf90 Yay team yellow! 💛

@Astar21 How magical to hear the baby's heartbeat again! 💕

HopefulBee · 05/04/2023 09:47

All went well at the appointment, uterus measuring perfectly, and we heard the heartbeat right away. Best sound ever. Am feeling very relieved and excited about the scan on Friday now, knowing the little one is fine in there and just mama freaking out for no reason. ☺️ wishing you all a lovely day ladies!

kl1999 · 05/04/2023 11:07

@HopefulBee That's great news!! Glad all is well. Hopefully you can relax a little now my lovely. Roll on Friday!🥰

Houseelf90 · 05/04/2023 11:32

@HopefulBee so pleased for you 🥰
My 16week appointment isn’t till 21st April when I’ll be nearly 18 weeks 😩 trying to be strong and not book a private scan as I want to spend all spare money on baby and helping during mat leave but this period between scans/appointments seems so long!

HopefulBee · 05/04/2023 13:56

@Houseelf90 I feel you. I find it hard when there’s 3 weeks between appointment but even more is really difficult. My midwife practice offers a heartbeat hour twice a week where you can register to have a 5 min appointment just to hear the heartbeat so you know all is well. I have done that once and found it helpful. Maybe you could ask if they do they where you live?

Tinkerbell098 · 05/04/2023 14:34

@HopefulBee wow that sounds like an amazing service. I'd probably be in every week haha! Doubt ours does that as no one's mentioned it but worth asking I guess.

Skw11 · 05/04/2023 15:53

@Houseelf90 my midwife appt isn't until I'm 17+3, I feel you on it being annoying waiting longer! 16 weeks this week for me and I am definitely still tired in the evenings, so this magic "energy returning" thing hasn't happened here either 😂 not as bad as first tri but I certainly do not feel full of beans! Counting down to next Thurs to hear the heartbeat and def have stretching pain so thinking about baby growing away in there ♥🤞
