Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

@Skw11 Welcome to the group, sorry to hear of your previous loss, but congratulations on your pregnancy! ❤

This group has helped all of us so much. Everyone is super kind, understanding and sympathetic. We know how the other feels, and no concerns or feelings are ever invalidated here 🌷

@Bizzybee900 My 20 week scan is currently booked in for 5/5 on the NHS, but I could and very well might, book a private gender scan for just after Easter time. I feel like time felt as though it was going so slow at one point, but when I look back on it now, the time has passed pretty quick lol. Do you mind me asking how long you need to wait for the NHS scan lovely? xx

kl1999 · 28/03/2023 16:40

@log51 Hi EDD twin ❤😊 Hope you are well xx

Astar21 · 28/03/2023 17:04

@Blueskies4 so so sorry to hear this 💔 it's just so unfair. I hope you can take the time to heal and surround yourself with support from your loved ones. Sending lots of hugs x

Houseelf90 · 28/03/2023 17:28

@Blueskies4 I am so sorry to hear this 😔💔 thinking of you and your partner, I hope you’ve got lots of support. Look after yourself 💐 xx

log51 · 28/03/2023 17:32

Oh @Blueskies4 I am just so very sorry to hear that. Please look after yourself xx

Glad to have found this space! I just got a BFP yesterday and I feel excited, scared and really nervous. I had a miscarriage in Oct last year. I had my DD in 2020 right at the start of the pandemic at age 40 (healthy, normal pregnancy) but now at 43 I am so scared of miscarriage or birth defects. My doc is going to give progesterone, but I have read that can increase the chance of neural tube issues (Downs Syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities). I also drank alcohol and sat in a hot tub not knowing I was pregnant and drank loads of caffeine. YIKES. Any experience with progesterone? Wondering if I should let nature take its course or do everything I can to protect the pregnancy until i know its viable? GOD I pray for a healthy, happy baby.

Skw11 · 28/03/2023 20:23

Hi @KellyJean I know progesterone is prescribed as a standard ivf protocol and I was given it by my private fertility consultant having had one mmc, so I would imagine the risks of the outcomes you mention are extremely low - otherwise it wouldn't be so standard right? For what it's worth my bloods from 12wk (tests for downs syndrome and some others in that) came back extremely low risk "no further action required" for all, but I appreciate I'm just one person! Hope this helps x

KellyJean · 28/03/2023 20:54

Thank you @Skw11! This is so great to hear this is standard with fertility treatments! I did not know this and it brings me great comfort!

Hi ladies,

Unfortunately it’s not good news for me.. had my dating scan today and there’s no HB, looks like baby stopped growing just before 12 weeks.

Wishing you all the very best with your pregnancies and lovely September babies xx

Thanks for all of your support, this group really did help with those early weeks x

Was sorry to read this, be kind to yourself and take the time to heal, such sad news. Wishing you much strength ❤

Bizzybee900 · 28/03/2023 23:54

Congrats @Skw11 and @KellyJean. @KellyJean I used progesterone pessaries (vaginally) they really are low risk.

@kl1999 my 20 week scan is on the 17th of May. So 7 weeks away! Thought I might go for the gender/reassurance scan the week after Easter. Is 16 weeks pregnant to early to truly see gender? Looking online, the private clinics seem to claim they can see gender at this point...

Littleheart5 · 29/03/2023 05:07

@Blueskies4 I am so so sorry to hear that, that’s just heartbreaking. I hope the hospital managed it well and you have lots of support around you. Wishing you the very best for the future xx

@Bizzybee900 I booked mine for 16+3 as we were told that you can book them from 15 weeks onwards. So it should be perfectly fine at 16 weeks. I also have friends who did theirs then and found out the gender without problems.

I have just booked my in I be 17 and a half weeks when I have mine 🥰 but some clinics say they can see it already from around 14 weeks so 16 weeks should definitely be fine!

kl1999 · 29/03/2023 09:49

@Bizzybee900 agree with the others, by 16 weeks you will most definitely be able to see the gender ❤

It's so exciting hearing you all speak about your gender scans... eeekk!! 🥰

I'll be around 16 weeks in two weeks-ish. Can I really hold out until 5th May for my next scan... I just, don't, know 🙈

Astar21 · 29/03/2023 12:26

It's nice to see some of us with upcoming scans to look forward to! This feels like such a limbo stage at the moment, no more sickness, appetite is back but not felt any flutters yet. So will be glad of a reassurance scan for peace of mind 🤍

Welcome @Skw11 ❤️ I also had a MMC discovered at my 12 week scan. The anxiety is tough but we have to remember it's a completely different pregnancy and outcome. It's nice to know we're all on this journey together ✨

kl1999 · 29/03/2023 16:27

@Astar21 I know exactly what you mean. Does feel like a limbo stage at the moment for sure❤

Hope everyone is keeping and feeling well 🌷

Skw11 · 29/03/2023 17:48

Thanks @Astar21 so true, luck can change! Holding out for our 20 week scan which I've got at 19w5 as we're on holiday week 20 but I think I'll be getting impatient by then! Starting to feel a bit more real for me this week as my bras are less comfy and my jeans too than they have been, I fear this side of pregnancy may be expensive...!

Houseelf90 · 29/03/2023 20:05

@Skw11 my jeans are sooo tight!! I’ve been wearing my mat jeans purely for comfort the last couple of weeks but wore my normal jeans on Monday; I think that will be the last time as they were soo tight and uncomfortable!! I’ve been to my mums tonight to steal some of her clothes as she’s a size or 2 bigger than me but nothing of hers even fits me nicely 🙈🙈 we have a couple of family meals coming up and I’m not big enough yet for mat tops but my normal ones are certainly getting a bit snug 🙈🤣

log51 · 30/03/2023 19:42

I don't suppose anyone else has had to have a colposcopy in their pregnancy yet? I had a slightly abnormal smear in January (which was a follow up from last year which they just decided to leave) and have it booked for Tuesday (they moved to second trimester) but I'm just a bit nervous about potentially bleeding after, and since they can't do anything whilst I'm pregnant anyway do I just cancel and ask for the smear again post birth?

HopefulBee · 30/03/2023 19:50

@log51 Hm, my doctor told me they don’t do colposcopies during pregnancy here (different country) as they don’t know whether it could have a bad effect on the pregnancy. Not to scare you, they don’t have evidence that it does, but don’t want to risk it apparently. So I did mine between my MC and my current pregnancy. Could you bring this up with your doctor or midwife? There might not be any need for concern but is probably nice to have some reassurance.

Bizzybee900 · 30/03/2023 20:16

That sounds stressful @log51 I don't know anything about colonoscopy. But when you moved your appointment who did you speak to? There must be someone you can discuss the risks versus benefits of the procedure with? Even if you can't before Tuesday presumably there will be a health professional on the day that you can discuss your concerns with and help you make an informed decision?
The reason they might not encourage you to put colonoscopys off post birth might be that some ladies get those horrific 3rd degree tear during labour and as these take time to heal perhaps it would delay other procedures down below such as colonoscopys so push you being assessed off even longer?
Also there's long queues on NHS wait times so perhaps they just want to get you seen, assessed and put on the right waiting list as soon as possible? As in they may do nothing during pregnancy but then you'll be seen quicker after birth as your already in the right waiting list sort of thing?
Wishing you strength in whatever option you decide to go for ❤

HopefulBee · 31/03/2023 13:50

@log51 definitely reassuring, glad you found this. It says late first or early second trimester - perhaps my doctor was uncomfortable because I was only 6 weeks when it came up.

Houseelf90 · 02/04/2023 18:34

How is everyone doing? I hope you’re all having a great weekend! Has anyone got their energy back that everyone says returns in the second trimester? I’ll be 15 weeks tomorrow and I’m still sooo tired. I’ve had a nap on the sofa this afternoon and around I seem to crash about 3 o’clock on working days! Hoping I get some energy back soon!

kl1999 · 02/04/2023 22:01

@Houseelf90 I’m doing good, hope you are too!

Im currently 15+1 and this past week I’ve felt pretty good. Have little to no nausea. But I have been extremely tired still and have constant metal taste in my mouth.

Hoping after a week or so, my energy levels will increase. But so far I’ve seen no improvements yet 🥲 so don’t worry, you are not alone!! 💗
