I’ve had a couple of moments of racing heart / palpitations the last couple of evenings, only lasts a few seconds but a bit unsettling! Will mention it to the midwife, just wondering if anyone else has had similar?

BackOfTheMum5net · 17/02/2023 20:45

@dunkedbiscuit I’ve had that too, though it seems to be happening less.

rach971 · 17/02/2023 21:50

@dunkedbiscuit Very normal in pregnancy due to increased blood flow etc. I have them, had them for years. But unfortunately they're now lasting longer so I'm under a consultant and got an appointment with a cardiologist.

mumma2oneDD · 18/02/2023 08:47

@dunkedbiscuit yes I get that too. I have a naturally fast heart rate as it is but it's way faster in pregnancy!

I'm 17+3 today and have a private scan booked to find out whether we are having a boy or girl. So nervous but excited too xxx

dunkedbiscuit · 18/02/2023 21:29

Thanks all, good to know it’s pretty common! Honestly it’s crazy what pregnancy does to us isn’t it!

Rutennotou · 19/02/2023 00:23

Anyone having problems with dizziness? I get that but also had the shakes today when making food. I wasn't at the stage of hunger where I should have been like that - I'd already had breakfast and a snack and this was lunch time.

Going to ask a really strange question now.
So, in the last 2 days, funnily enough straight after we had our gender scan, I have been feeling some baby movements, but I'm feeling them really low down, which I guess is normal for the minute. What I'm not sure about, and where the strange part comes in, is that I am feeling either the kicks or vibrations from the kicks in my bottom, why on earth would I be feeling them here? And it's definitely not wind either!

Mummy2Girls22 · 19/02/2023 20:26

@AnxiousAnnie94 I'm feeling the same, this baby kicks soo low down the sensation I feel it what I felt towards the end in my previous pregnancies.
I feel most if them really low but only this week have u started feeling them near my belly button I'm now 21+5 🥰
As for what to wear vinted is my new best friend 3 pairs of newlook maternity jeans for £5!! Still having to pull them up abit but it won't be long until there snug!!
My old friend sciatica arrived this week 😮‍💨 I'm ok aslong as I keep moving but if I sit for a while I then have to limp around untill it wears off so I am currently living in the bath every night too sooth it 😣
Lovely to read everyone is doing great and boys seem outweighing the girls at the moment 🥰
💙💗🧡

dunkedbiscuit · 19/02/2023 20:37

@Mummy2Girls22 ouch! Back pain is horrid ,do heat patches / wheat bag help whilst sitting?

the exhaustion is the hardest thing for me currently, im sure first time round I feel pretty chipper in the 2nd trimester but doing pregnancy with a 4yr old and work being so busy is haaard 😴

MamaSJ15 · 20/02/2023 12:28

@Mummy2Girls22 question on your sciatica because I have it too, it's not too bad with the sharp pains yet, I only get this when I stand if I've been sitting too long or if I've been standing too long (can't win!) But I've had a pain across the top of my bottom (sort of where the tail bone is) for the last few weeks and it's very uncomfortable, would you say this is related to sciatica or just another pregnancy ache?

AnxiousAnnie94 · 20/02/2023 20:06

Hi girls, should I be concerned?
Last night before I went to sleep as I was laying in bed I could hear a pulsing in my right ear, exactly the rhythm of my pulse rate. I wouldn't say it was particularly fast, but perhaps a little faster than usual. Didn't really think too much of it apart from that it was a bit annoying as I was trying to fall asleep and it was gone this morning.
Haven't had it at all all day at work and it's just come on as I've sat down on the sofa after eating my tea. Exactly the same ear, thumping/ pulsing along to my pulse rate. It comes and goes, when I stand up it tends to go and then comes back when I sit again.
Now me being the anxious person that I am, googled it and it can apparently be a sign of preeclampsia which I am now panicking a bit about. I've never had high blood pressure before and the three other blood pressure checks I've had at previous midwife appointments have been okay.
Can this just also be a normal symptom in pregnancy? I feel absolutely fine apart from that, albeit exhausted today, but was my first day back at work after a week off and struggled with sleeping last night, so think that is just a result of that.
Past experiences welcome with a thumping ear 🤣

rach971 · 20/02/2023 20:42

@AnxiousAnnie94 I get this on and off occasionally (pre pregnancy also). I had an appointment with ENT last month and they did hearing tests etc and the doctor just said it can be caused by hearing damage. For example listening to loud music a lot, going to music concerts etc, being around loud noise. She just said limit any exposure to noise as once any damage is done it can't be reversed. They knew I'm pregnant and she didn't mention preeclampsia or anything and my blood pressure has always been normal too. I don't think it's anything to worry about. The heart pumps harder and you have more blood volume in pregnancy too, so it's entirely possible it could just be that 🥰

AnxiousAnnie94 · 20/02/2023 20:47

@rach971 thank you, I've never experienced it before although do occasionally get a pulsing in my eye (pre pregnancy) that goes along with my pulse.
I worry a lot (hence my name on here 🤣) and just like to hear others have experienced it before and that it was nothing bad. Obviously if it gets worse or I start to feel anything else that's different I will call the midwife team, if not, I will just mention it to my midwife in my next appointment in 2 weeks :)

rach971 · 20/02/2023 21:21

@AnxiousAnnie94 Definitely worth a mention at your next appt but honestly I'm sure it's nothing at all to worry about, especially if your BP is normal.

Keep asking away on here though anytime anything worries you. Seeing your posts reminds me so much of myself haha, I'm always worrying and looking for reassurance

@habiller I read that too. I have a midwife appointment in two weeks where she will obviously test my wee. Do you think that's too long to wait?

BackOfTheMum5net · 20/02/2023 22:18

I had my 20 week scan today and all was well! Such a relief as we have been quite worried since our last hospital appointment revealed low levels of PAPP A, and we had convinced ourselves that something wouldn’t have grown properly.
And… it’s a boy!

There was a bit of a comedy moment in with the sonographer when he had to send me out to the toilet twice because my bladder was so full 😂

MamaSJ15 · 21/02/2023 07:40

@AnxiousAnnie94 it can be quite worrying can't it but it's pretty normal. I already suffer with tinitus and during pregnancy it gets worse and also includes the pulsing sound. My bp is always fairly low too. Try not to worry (easier said than done!).

@BackOfTheMum5net aw that's such a lovely scan photo and congratulations on hearing it's a boy! 💙

dunkedbiscuit · 22/02/2023 09:10

Yay @BackOfTheMum5net! congratulations and welcome to the boy club!

@habiller I've been feeling small movements everyday too but nothing seems to be connecting that soon there'll be a little baby! 😂

RandomCatGenerator · 22/02/2023 13:11

Well after a month wait I’m seeing the perinatal mental health team on Friday. Fingers crossed. Three weeks since any thoughts of suicide. Day at a time.

Hi all,
Posting after a long hiatus. It's lovely to see all the scans!

@AnxiousAnnie94 I have had this pre-pregnancy (I think my whole life actually) and during the pregnancy too, it's just a bit annoying and comes and goes, but is nothing to worry about I'd say. Obviously they will keep checking your BP etc, and if you develop any other symptom of Preeclampsia then you'd want to notify your healthcare provider, but I have it quite often

@BackOfTheMum5net nice photo! and congrats on the little boy <3

@habiller For some reason i can't quite connect with it just yet, I don't know if it's my anxious nature that tells me to only stop worrying once I have the baby in my arms, but it still feels not quite real, it's hard to explain. I've also veryyy spordically been feeling movements if I'm just sitting or laying, but I've been feeling little adorable (and some big!)kicks since 2 weeks ago if I place my hands on my stomach and am lying down, it really works wonders!

I had my 20 week anatomy scan and everything was all right, though I've been feeling VERY thirsty the past few weeks, I can easily drink 4 liters of water per day. Does anyone else have that?
I also have PCOS so there's a chance I develop gestational diabetes, so they'll screen me for it too (my baby's adbomen was in the 96th percentile too, which is also a sign of GD!!).

Has anyone else had experience with gestational diabetes, and if so, how did you manage?
